W-woah... Those guys didn't seem to stand a chance against what Lucian unleashed upon them. H-heh, she felt kinda bad for the actors, only lightly tapping one of them with her staff as they all rushed in to finish the fight. She'd smile lightly and apologies to the actors as the rest of the group had already stepped away before following after, this was one of the rooms that the speakers had said could hold something special. Though she had no idea what it could be, Lilly was still excited at the chance of being apart of the team that did find the special item. And despite the fact she should of been cheering that they did indeed find it, she was instead distracted by the loud chanting of the countdown coming from outside. It was the time of the jump already? Woah, time really did fly when you were enjoying yourself. The countdown hit one. Then everything felt wrong.
Nausea overtook the girl as the jump occurred, she was familiar will the unsettling feeling of the jumps but... This was something different, she almost felt like she was going to properly throw up, a slight ringing in her ears that she couldn't distinguish if it was causing her to hear things, or there was the sound of screaming in the distance. There wasn't enough time for her disorientation to cease before her attention was once again stolen by the speakers within the fungeon, the information shared from said announcement being a mixture of terrifying, confusing and downright horrific things she never wanted to hear. So much of it was a blur, Lilly would double over and hold her head with cupped paws trying to make sense of what she was hearing, but all the pain, discomfort and fear of what was being portrayed caused her heartbeat to echo loudly in her ears, drowning everything the girl didn't want to hear out.
However one thing that was said she heard clearly, the words stabbing into her, causing her to raise her head and open her eyes to stare blankly in front of her. H-her home world... Was doomed? Not only had this city stolen her away from her home, her family, her friends... It left the place in a state of doom...? Tears had begun to consume the young girls eyes, what if they were all already gone... What if she could never see any of them every again, I-if... I-if they were in pain, or worse. She couldn't bare it, her entire motivation for keeping herself going here was the hope she'd one day be able to return home. A-and now, she was supposedly slowly fading, being corrupted and everything... E-every-e-ever... N-no... P-please... No...
One of the many sounds of gunshots in the background pierced through her ears, the girl dropping to her knees the sudden landing flicking the tears from her eyes for a moment, allowing her emerald eyes to catch note of the darkness that was now around them. What was happening... Why was it happening, th-this was all going so well just a moment before. W-why did everything always have to go wrong. There were unfamiliar sounds around her, even if her tears didn't block her sight there was no longer anything to see, her very mind seemed to be pushing against her skull as if it was trying to get out. Leave her here, in the eternal void of darkness, alone.
Hyperventilating heavily, the coming of another all knew voice stroked her senses, a blue varnish glow noticeable through her tears. Lilly didn't try to move, still sitting upon the ground on her knees, hardly finding the will to keep listening to all this madness that made absolutely no sense to her. Her brain still trying to place the pieces of everything else she had heard so far and not getting anywhere any time soon. Even the man, whom Lilly was unsure if he or any of this was even real anymore, sounded like he was sick and cursed alongside everything else.
“W-What have you done!?”
Recoiling from the words naturally, Lilly would almost fall over with how disorientated she still felt, w-what did she mean. What had she done...? W-was this all her fault? Was there something that she had done to cause all of this... Was... Was any of this even real? T-the from before, the traveler, he said we existed, we had to prove it. W-what did he mean by that. Why was this being blamed of her. She hadn't tried to do anything, there was nothing she could do to stop it, there was nothing she was able to do! WHY WOULD SHE TRY TO MAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN! THIS WASN'T HER FAULT!
Whether she knew it or not, or simply didn't believe it, the girl would slowly push her body back up off of the floor once she was back in reality. "N-no..." An almost inaudible murmur would leak from her mouth. "T-this isn't... M-my fault..." Her mind was still pounding, every ounce of her body was screaming for her to just fall down and give up, to give in to whatever it was that was corrupting the world around her. It pulled at her every fiber, her very being, though through whatever unknown force that was driving her forward. She would finally get back to her feet and wipe the tears from her eyes. Staring around herself to see the truth of what had become of the place for the first time, the very fungeon itself had twisted, changed, the walls seemed to bleed and... W-what the hell was that.
Locking eyes with the mechanical monstrosity that had twisted and lurked in the room with them, every part of Lilly's essence screamed for her to just turn and run, that there was no way she'd ever be able to survive here, s-she was useless, she was jus-"No!"- Why was she doing this... What had happened... Why wasn't she runni-"I w-wont let you push me around!"- Her team was still here, she had that much at least. Her mind told her to run, it repeated the words that hurt her so over and over on loop in her head. Her world was doomed... The girls voice blaming her... Did she really d-"STOP!" Her mind throbbed, it hurt, even more than before, though this time... The pain pushed through.
"Thou wish to know the truth?" A faint, yet noticeable voice would call out to the girl as her head filled with all kinds of pains and feelings. "Thou don't want to be stuck here forever?" The voice continued as Lilly held back her urge to scream out in pain. "Thou don't want to be alone, with no way to protect yourself, no way to push forward?" As the pain built. "Thou have the chance." So did something much deeper. "Thou art I. I art thou." The voice... It was so familiar... "Thou want to protect yourself and others?" As if she had always known them, an old friend, long lost, but ever with her. "Then speak my child." It was time. "Speak my name."
"I... W-wont let fear take over me... I-I need you..."
Her thoughts cleared, there was nothing but peace and a blissful white for but a moment. Only one word was left in her mind. A name, so new, yet so familiar.
"Clover! I need you!"
The green and orange bracelets and anklets around the young girls arms and legs would begin to glow, emanating a fierce light that pulled itself together to form a shape.
"We are one. I am thou, thou art I. Your desires to be freed from your self contained prison of fear have brought me. Your will to do what is right for others shines. Prove to me you can act upon thou desires, and my powers will forever guide you forward."
The pain from her head was gone, somehow after all that had happened in what felt like an eternity since the countdown begun, she felt relieved. Lilly would nod toward Clover, her gaze drifting from the huge monster, her allies, her new companion and back again. A faltering look of fear and determination across her face. She could do this... She had to help. She wouldn't be useless. N-not any longer. She could feel the energy of the world around her surge in her hands, she'd used this energy most of her life to create shields and the likes... But now it felt more powerful than ever. Letting the energy build between her paws, she'd look up toward the artificial monstrosity before her and throw her hand forward.
"I-I will not b-back down! I w-wont give up! N-not yet!"

All that noise and despair, it was all too familiar for the Vice President. Flashes of memory flooded his thoughts, overpowering everything else for the moment. All he could see were dead bodies with the wounds of war, burnt, thorn apart, pierced, all of them pilled high while a river of blood reeked and smell of burnt flesh. Why? He didn't want to go back, he didn't wanted to see people suffer like that again. No more...
To those watching James, the man would be in his knees, begging for it to cease. It was almost pathetic to see a man as towering as him in such position. It was then that a voice called, it wasn't J.U.L.I.A, she had attempted to call for him in vain. This voice, it was something inside the Veteran's mind, it wanted him to fight back.
"Thou art it, i art thou.. So you find yourself in the land of the dead... Do not fright, this is but a transition if you wish to return take my hand."
The fuck was this shit? He could see it, a metallic hand offered itself to help him get up. He did not want to stay that way, not anymore, without hesitation he took it. Finally bringing out the power within himself to aid in the battle.
"Everything is going tibia okay..." "Let's do this."

"No that's... That's not true! This isn't funny!"
At first, Alice had listened meekly to the contents of the tape, but as it continued on and the horrifying revelations were made apparent she mustered up her strength and shouted with all her might at the recorder; she cried out in denial desperately trying to drown out the words before they could reach her ears any further. The warnings about being unable to leave the city without bringing down ruin wherever she went, the assurance that there was nothing she could do to help the victims tainted by this "Him"... She couldn't accept that! And yet as the screams echoed all across the fungeon she had no choice but to. Once again she found herself dangling helplessly in a situation that she could do nothing about. The strings of fate tightened around her neck and she could feel the life being choked out of her, the girl gasping for air as the world began to spin all around her and she felt herself suffocate underneath the insanity and existential horror that came crashing down on her. Grasping onto her head and crying out in pain, Alice blocked out everything and everyone, denying existence and shutting her eyes to reality in a futile attempt to escape the truth of the situation. For a second it even seemed as if it had worked as the sound of gunshots and flames vanished, but when she worked up the courage to peek out at the world again she found that she was no longer in Junction. She searched around frantically looking for any sign of Lucian or James, but her blurry vision prevented her from confirming the presence of anyone other than the long-nosed man and his servants.
"I..." Before she could utter a word it was over. Alice reached out to grasp the branch of a nearby tree, but it slipped through her fingers just as the Velvet Room itself did, and once again she found herself forced to confront the gruesome sight before her and the truths that came with it. Even as everyone else around her stood up to the challenge though, Alice couldn't. She looked up at Lucian and Lilly's Personas unsure of what to do with an expression of pure, unadulterated dread and confusion on her face. To think that she was so useless, that everyone else could do something about this and yet she...
But there was a voice: a voice behind her and a presence that came with it. She knew who it was, but just as she wished more than anything to look away from the nightmare before her, she yearned hopelessly to avoid catching a glimpse of the one behind her. It didn't exist, none of this existed. Junction, the Traveler, the Velvet Room... None of this was real. That was what she kept repeating to herself, but there was a part of her that would not allow her to succumb to such a terrible fate. "The only lies here are the ones you tell yourself, Alice. You see what this means, don't you? For yourself and the world... Don't avert your gaze any longer. Look inside yourself and see what it is that I am, what it is that you fear! If you would deny my very existence then you will never surpass me! You will never be anything more than my puppet, you wiil have no purpose!"
Alice was terrified. She could barely stand, she could hardly muster a single thought. Even so though, there was a spark of determination which burned within her. Holding her hand to her chest and clasping her scarf tightly, the girl would look ahead at the monster before her and take a few steps forward with her Persona following behind. She refused to be the only one amongst the group who didn't seize the day. It was just as she had told her father on the day of her arrival in Junction: her life was hers to control, no one else's. What this facet of herself said was true. There was something she dreaded, something she despised more than anything else. Only by accepting that aspect of herself and weaponizing it did she stand any chance of escaping it. So with a deep breath and an exhausted sigh, the woman adjusted her glasses and with newfound resolve whispered a single name...

Passives:
Regenerate 1 | Recovers 2% of max HP on each user turn | Passive | Tier 1
Soul Skill Name: Favor of the Fates Persona Name: Nona Tier: Tier 1 Cost: Passive Type of Damage: N/A Description: Alice's talents are enhanced by her Persona. She does 15% extra damage with any and all Slash skills than she would under normal circumstances.
Relevant(?) Strengths/Weaknesses:
—Strength Name: Finesse —Description: Alice's attacks hold a certain grace to them and when she's doing well in a battle her movements are awe-inspiring to watch. After successfully landing a critical hit on an enemy her Ppstr stat will increase by 5% for the duration of the Once More and her next subsequent turn. This can't stack on top of itself, but there's no limit to the amount of times it can be triggered per battle.
—Strength Name: Patron of the Arts —Description: During her time in Scarred Earth, Alice spent much of her freetime studying drama and acting. She knows how to put on a convincing performance and accordingly also possesses a keen understanding of how to manipulate an audience and get them on the edge of their seat. Whenever she uses a Distress skill on an enemy, Alice has a 10% extra chance of inflicting the ailment on them.
—Strength Name: Slice n' Dice —Description: When using Slash skills, Alice deals 10% extra damage than she would normally.
—Strength Name: Clever —Description: Alice isn't necessarily a genius, but she does have above average intelligence and tends to do well at confronting puzzles and other problems that require a logical answer. Combined with the state-of-the-art weeaboo technology that is her soulbond weapon, she's more than capable of installing a third node into her blade and can thereby take advantage of an additional slot.
—Racial Strength Name: Liber Gene —Description: The source of Alice's deepest hopes and most dreaded fears; the Liber Gene makes Alice and all others who carry it immune to all forms of mind control and suggestion, save for those related to the soul, which it still manages to repel efficiently, if not perfectly. In combat, this makes it 15% less likely for the carrier to be inflicted with Charm, and in the case that it does it only lasts for one turn.
—Weakness Name: Cynical —Description: Perhaps pessimistic is too harsh a word, but it shouldn't be any surprise that Alice isn't a particularly happy-go-lucky person considering the environment she grew up in and the revelations she's learned over the years. Everywhere she goes people look like machines to her and their words ring ever so slightly hollow no matter how much genuine passion or emotion rests behind them. Overall it could be said that life has largely lost its sense of magic for her and consequentially she deals 10% less damage with any magic-based attacks.
—Weakness Name: Ramen Rakunda —Description: You wouldn't expect it from the daughter of the POTUS, but most of Alice's diet consists of snacks and quickly prepared meals like instant ramen. While Lucian was a loving father and clearly did his best to take care of her, the nature of his job often meant that he was swamped with work that could easily prevent him from spending time with her. With only one parent taking care of her, this meant that family dinners were a rare occurrence for Alice and that consequentially she slowly began to avoid attending supper in favor of more convenient options. You don't have to be disappointed when you see your dad's not at the table if you never bother with full course meals in the first place, right? Because of this she's skinnier than your typical human female and takes 10% more damage from physical attacks than she would otherwise.
—Weakness Name: Xenophilia —Description: Ironically enough, beneath the surface Alice isn't as patriotic as you'd expect her to be. What she learned about her country and the world she lived in as a whole has severed a gigantic portion of the connection she felt to it. Even before learning about the Liber Gene's existence and the state of America though, she maintained a healthy interest in foreign cultures, although it's much more intense now than it ever was before. Since almost everyone in Junction comes from a different culture than she's used to, Charm skills have an extra 5% chance of success against her. In addition, her initial unfamiliarity with these cultures and their technology means she can only equip nodes up to tier 2.
—Weakness Name: Colorful Cues —Description: The nature of Alice's soulbound weapon makes it easier for opponents to read her current emotional state and act to exploit it accordingly. In PvS this translates to her doing 5% less damage with Patriot. When it comes to PvP though there isn't an intrinsic mechanical effect; it simply allows an observant enough opponent to notice and take advantage of the meaning of the colors. For example, if a person managed to discern that the energy being red translates to negative emotions and turned their attention to Alice's movements and attacks, they could potentially learn that she's in a state of anger and use that knowledge to formulate a strategy against her. In that sense, this weakness of hers could be considered a counter to her skill in acting.
—Racial Weakness Name: Flesh And Bone —Description: Despite their many redeeming traits and how far they’ve come as a species, humans aren’t exactly known for faring very well against the harmful elements of nature. While it's true that Alice is in her prime and is a decently athletic person, she's still a bit underweight for a girl her age and isn't all that physically strong having to thereby rely on skill and strategy over brute force to back up any non-supernatural attacks made in PvP. In PvS combat, however, this means that any elemental ailment lasts a turn longer than usual.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
—Strength Name: Platinum Tongue —Description: Over the course of his life as a borderline noble and political wonder child Lucian learned the hard way that words can mean the difference between prosperity and ruin. As any skilled president should, Lucian has a remarkable proficiency for weaving words into convincing arguments and speeches, turning even his enemy into his favor. During demon negotiation, Lucian has a higher chance of pleasing demons as long as they can speak verbally.
—Strength Name: Charismatic Leader —Description: The most important part of leading a group of people - be it a handful of heroes or billions upon billions of civilians – is the ability to inspire them and pass unto them every last drop of confidence and innate wisdom that one has acquired over their lifetime. When accompanied by a group of at least one other person besides himself, Lucian passively boosts the luck stat of every ally present – including himself – by 10%.
—Strength Name: Heroic Bravery —Description: When the pen breaks and the sword is the only might that remains, one must be able to bridge the gap in power between them and their enemy by surrounding oneself in lucid focus and rational thought. As the man entrusted with the fate of an entire nation and its people, Lucian has learned to maintain his rationality and composure even when faced with imminent death. Lucian is 15[color=#9966cc] less likely to be inflicted with the Panic ailment, and recovers from it one turn earlier than scheduled by the skill used to inflict it.
—Racial Strength Name: Liber Gene —Description: The one lucky charm that’s allowed Lucian to come this far; the Liber Gene makes Lucian and all others who carry it immune to all forms of mind control and suggestion, save for those related to the soul, which it still manages to repel efficiently, if not perfectly. In combat, this makes it 15% less likely for the carrier to be inflicted with Charm, and in the case that it does it only lasts for one turn.
—Weakness Name: The Bitter Taste Of Defeat —Description: To a man who relies highly on his usage of words and diplomacy, not being able to communicate properly with another is beyond irritating, it’s downright frustrating, which can cause Lucian to lose a bit of his composure. In demon negotiation, Lucian is less likely to please demons that do not communicate verbally, or simply those who he can’t understand.
—Weakness Name: Astigmatism —Description: Maybe Lucian should’ve listened to his parents when they told him he shouldn’t read while in the dark or stick so close to the TV, as now he suffers from a form of astigmatism that blurs his vision whenever it shifts from one place to another rapidly, as is crucial for him to do while in combat (though maybe not so much outside of it). Whenever Lucian is downed in combat, his glasses will be knocked off. While his glasses are off, his accuracy will be reduced by 30%, and he must spend a turn guarding to put his glasses back on in order to recover his normal accuracy.
—Weakness Name: Immunodeficiency —Description: Though Lucian definitely lucked out in inheriting decent looks and the Liber Gene from his mother, the rest of his embryonic conception was… less than fortunate. Lucian was born with a minor form of immunodeficiency, which makes him particularly vulnerable to disease. Poison deals 5% more damage per turn to Lucian and is 15%more likely to be inflicted upon him.
—Racial Weakness Name: Flesh And Bone —Description: Despite their many redeeming traits and how far they’ve come as a species, humans aren’t exactly known for faring very well against the harmful elements of nature. Lucian especially, being past his biological prime, might need more than average protection when venturing into dangerous places, and is likely to exhaust easily in PvP combat.

In PvS combat, however, this means that any elemental ailment lasts a turn longer than usual.

Lilly would recoil backwards after her sudden burst of adrenaline that gave her the courage to step forward and attack the monstrous beast herself, what was she doing... This was insanity... A look of horror would bestow her face as she watched the creature attack James back after they'd all drilled into it, even after they all had jumped at him with... E-everything that they now had it was still going, and that looked like it would really hurt if that was on her. She'd shudder at the thought, but knew deep down inside she had to stay and help not matter how much she wanted to run and hide.

As the monster’s existence faded away, so did Lucian’s companion and adrenaline-induced trance. Realization of what comprised his current situation dawned upon him now that his mind no longer needed to prioritize staying alive and could now freely contemplate the hell it was faced with. “Is everybody okay?” The president asked in concern, fearing anyone might have gotten hurt or worse. Lucian needed to assess the situation: something had gone awry with the jump that caused innocent civilians to turn into monsters, and in the process he’d been whisked off to somewhere and returned with a bizarre ability. From the looks of it, everyone present had gained an ability of the same kind. Just what the fuck was going on?!
Lucian allowed his legs to give way as he sat down on the floor, one leg outstretched and the other retracted, an arm resting on its knee. “I just… need to catch my breath.” He exclaimed in between heavy panting and sharp breathing. God, he was too old for this, and he wasn’t even that old. Despite the wear his body might have incurred, however, his mind was under much deeper strain: there was a certain amount of surrealism that he could manage his hardest to stomach and adapt to, but life was apparently a sadist with a penchant for pushing people to their limits. In reality, Lucian was just as confused, afraid and panicky as the rest. It took arduous effort not to pinch himself all over and scream incessantly in hopes of waking up from this week-long dream; no, this week-long nightmare. But alas, he couldn’t afford to show uncertainty or despair, for such is the curse of a leader. James would probably be concerned and distracted if he showed how afraid he really was, Alice wouldn’t last too long before receding into despair, miss Lilly would probably share the fear, and Cassiel… wait, Cassiel?
He turned around to look at the fortune teller, only to find him a short distance away in… less than favorable conditions. He supposed all the emotions and ruin in the air were messing with him like they did when they first met. Pushing against his own knee to stand up, Lucian walked over to Cassiel and offered him a hand to help him get up. “Please keep yourself together just a little longer.”
After helping Cassiel back onto his feet, Lucian lightly trotted towards his daughter. “Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” He asked as he looked her over, even though he'd already asked once. Try as he might, it seemed it was impossible for him to hide his concern. He would’ve been equally protective of James, but between a sixteen year old child and a trained war veteran who is also half robot there was a large gap in trust in their combat abilities and survivavility.
“Alright, everyone.” Lucian took a deep breath and cleared his mind. It was time to assume charge. “I’m sure we are all beyond confused , but there are better places to assess the situation at than the seventh layer of hell. If we go back the way we came, we should be able to find the exit sooner. Once we get out, we beeline for the nearest police station and follow their orders from thereon. Follow me, stay sharp, and don’t wander off.” And with that, he would take the door to the west.

With a light sigh of relief at both seeing that she was capable of healing others as well as the fact that the giant robotic monster that had suddenly appeared to block their path had fallen, Lilly would stumble backwards a few steps to lean against a wall. Her breathing was still quick and panicky, her mind would race and dance upon so many different ideas of what could be going on, why its happening at all, what everything she had heard over the intercoms before that fight broke out meant. There were so many pieces that needed to be fitted together, but none of them in her current state seemed to make any logical connection to one another. Why was any of this happening, why did they all seem to awaken to these mysterious powers? Why did she have to choose today to put herself out there to do something... The mentally scared girl would turn briefly to her persona, who would nod respectfully before disappearing from sight for the moment as Lilly's anklets and bracelets shone for a second. "T-thank you... Clover..."
"I... I think I'm okay..." Lilly would respond to Lucians question with an extremely shaken and timid voice. "M-more terrified than... Than actually hurt..." She'd make her best efforts to sum up quickly, noticing that the very act of talking about it was quickly overrunning her emotions again and making her feel like crying once more. Not being in the right state of mind to be able to help anyone else herself, which in and of itself made her feel even worse about the situation, Lilly would just stay in her corner of the room attempting to compose herself as Lucian seemed to go between each of their other team mates checking if everyone was okay. As she repeated everything that had happened in her head for the fifteenth time already, she couldn't help but sniffle as an exceptionally small smile took on her face. Where did all that confidence come from a moment ago? Sure it wasn't much, really, but in light of the circumstances and who she was. H-how did she manage to deal with that at all.
Despite not wanting to move at all, both still stunned from what had happened and scared that there'd be more of those things up ahead. There was no way she would be left on her own either, she couldn't imagine anything worse. Though, as she began to follow Lucian as he lead them back towards the exit, a sudden thought struck her mind that made her worry even more. "Y-you don't think th-this happened all over Junction, d-do you?" Her sudden feared realization of what horrors could be happening all over Junction and not just here at the festival was clear in her voice. She'd lower her head, trying not to think about all the possibilities that rushed into her mind no matter how hard she tried not to think about them. "I-I... I really hope everyone else is okay..."
"Now i must journey back to my realm..." The enemy had been vanquished, and now his protector returned to the realm within James' mind, waiting until it was ready to be used again.
"Are you okay, Mr. Smith? Your heart beat increased for a brief moment and then... This, i do not posses info about that creature in my database..."
"I believe it's called.. persona?" It was ucanny, the knowledge of it just came to his mind, almost as if he always knew about it. "Yes, persona. Charon, the ferryman of the underworld... It will guide me through the changes of life..." After this little exchange with the AI, the veteran turned his head to his friend, he was busy with Alice, as should be expected. Meanwhile the young boy was just fucking gone, mentally that is, even the meek looney toon managed to keep it together... Suppose he shouldn't judge the boy, as the veteran himself barely managed to keep it together too.
"Alice and Lucian seem fine, you should worry about your own condition." The spoke with worry in it's voice, to some she might be just some piece of code installed to a smart glass, but she had a mind of it's own and feelings. "It seems they share this persona power."
"Yeah, i noticed." Something was wrong, very wrong. But enough with the introspection, Lucian had taken the charge of the situation, it was time to leave this shithole.
As the group walked through the Fungeon, J.U.L.I.A decided to check on the president's daughter.
"Hello Alice, you mind if i ask you a few questions?" She waited for the girl's permission before continuing with her line of questions. "Are you feeling any different from before? Does it have a name?"
"Aren't you a curious one? Let the girl breath, Julia." James chuckled, the AI seemed very eager to investigate about their powers.
"I must collect data on your powers, my database is lacking and i must fix it." She almost sounded offended, though the robotic voice made it hard to read her true emotions.

Darkness...
--
Everything was white for a precious few minutes. He wasn't where his body was... He could tell...He didn't feel any physical pain and his veins... He'd stand up abruptly, gasping at how light headed he felt. The emotions... They flooded back into the forefront of his mind. They were filling him to the brim and they busted out in a bitter tears and a whale that he couldn't suppress. He didn't notice the man at first... It was just too painful to focus on anything else.
"W-What...? W-Who..."
The exchange was too quick for him to fully understand... And before he could say further words the horrific dust storm blasted forward. It enveloped the man and soon after it threatened to envelop the fortune teller. He'd move to escape but he was too late. Everything returned to white. He felt as if he were floating... Or... Falling? He could no longer tell but he felt himself drift away from where he was supposed to go too.
--
It was wet... But it was warm... He didn't want to move... To be awaken from whatever slumber he had found himself in. It wasn't blood... That much he knew... The smell would have broken his slumber immediately if it were... But, no, it smelt much too inviting... Too nice... It couldn't be a threat.
But there was a tacking... An annoying, insufferable tacking that forced the youth to open his eyes with a groan. With a heavy huff, he'd push himself out of the sleeping liquid staring at his reflection for a brief moment before standing up. It was like an ocean of milky, purple liquid and violet clouds. It was weird, honestly... Where was he again...? He'd blink for a moment before he heard the tacking again, turning around to see a strikingly blue light pulse in the far distance. That... Didn't belong here, now did it?
So the youth would trek onward towards it. It was either that or head deeper into the ocean of soothing liquid and clouds. Neither really seemed like the best idea in hindsight but... Eh...? There wasn't really anything else to do... He'd look down at his veins with a frown, they were pitch black. His head was fuzzy and he couldn't really remember why they were like that... Something bad had happened, right?
Before long, the youth would make it to the blue light, a... Small house creating the light. He was confused, but decided to open the creaky door with little thought and enter the house. It was... Well, a complete mess. The walls were covered from floor to ceiling with shelves over stuffed with books and the dust... Not to mention how the floor itself was blocked by mountains of books.
He'd push himself deeper into the house, though. That insufferable tacking growing ever stronger the closer to the center of the house he got. He'd push one more mountain of books out of his way before staring up at a literal mountain of... So much stuff. Books, scrolls, there was a computer in there, filing cabinets, and even system units... It was a conglomeration of information that stunned the youth. And atop it all?
"Ah Master, you finally made it. Hm, your subconscious takes on the most peculiar form..."
The blue haired child would say so nonchalantly, as if he knew Cassiel like a best friend. He was honestly stunned. He wasn't alone here? Was here his... Subconscious? Wait, that made no sense! B-But... Wait, that dessert... Where had that been? Master...?
"You're confused, that's fine. I'll explain this... Situation later. Right now you need to focus on waking up. I've been trying to find a way to jolt you awake but... I have been unlucky in my pursuit. Tell me, do you have a particular fear?" the mysterious child would ask as he tap tap tapped on a tablet in his hand. So that's what was the tacking... Of course it was... Tsk, annoying kid...
"U-Uh... D-Death, I suppose? Why?" the youth would ask with a very confused look on his face. The child would look at him with a questioning look on his face, as if he disproved of his fear. Cassiel was about to object before the angel tapped quickly on the tablet and the atmosphere of the room began to change furiously.
"Very well... I shall see you in the conscious plain soon then." he'd state before busying himself with a book and scroll near the top of the mountain. Cassiel would take a step forward before the room began to spin and distort. He wasn't there anymore? What? No... W-Where...
The room would melt away into what Cassiel could only describe as a battle field. There was screaming... And blood... Warriors fought each other with swords, axes, hammers... There bones cracked and snapped, there flesh sliced open and poured out blood. The death... It was suffocating. He'd let out a scream of terror and shock.
Everything returned to white...
--
He'd jolt awake with a scream of terror. The funhouse and the festival's emotions forcing their way into his head. He could hardly breath. This pain... It was too much... It threatened to knock the him out completely. He held his head with both hands, his phone buzzing as a blue glow showed on the screen. He'd take more notice of it if it weren't for the severe amount of pain he was feeling.
"L-Lucian...?" that man... He was still here? The boy would be helped up to a standing position at the very least, leaning against the funhouse wall heavily with a deep sigh. It hurt like hell... More than hell, if that was a thing... But... He couldn't give up and just give in to the pain... He had to make it... He had too...
He'd finally take notice of his phone, an app having appeared on it. He'd tap it before a loading screen appeared and then a small blue, pixel house appeared amidst a purple, pixel sea. A look of confusion would cross his face before a sprite of the blue haired child from before appeared in the house.
"Good, you've awakened successfully. Now, you will need to summon me unless you wish for those monsters to kill you. Whenever you wish to summon me, tap the summon button on the bottom of the screen. Simple, yes?" the boy's voice would echo in his head. It hurt a little... But he supposed it was only a faint prick in the ocean of deep cuts he was experiencing right now.
Regardless, he'd tap the summon button and soon, a grey mist would appear around the boy. He was startled at first before the phone beeped and a loading bar appeared.
Initializing Summoning Sequence...
Summoning Successful...
Summoning Raziel...
"Well then, let us begin forward."
The blue haired child would appear sitting atop a stack of floating pillows surrounded by small screens. Was it to make him appear taller...? And the screens were for...? Regardless, Cassiel would simply nod at the boy. It seemed he'd need him for the fights ahead... Alright then... He had to make it home at least... He just had too...
The horror did not fade with the monster's death. Alice could still feel the sense of dread in the air as Nona slowly flickered out of existence; the girl stood motionless and completely still as the far-off screams bombarded her ears and the wailing of what remained of the actors beckoned her to journey deeper down the rabbit hole into the nightmare. She felt nauseous; her stomach tied itself into knots as she struggled in vain to keep her body from trembling and shaking violently in terror. But in spite of this outward display, for once Alice felt... relieved. It didn't overwhelm her to the point where it was capable of drowning out the anxiety and distress swelling up inside of her, but it tempered it if that made any sense; no matter how primal an instinct it was, the knowledge that she and her family were safe for the moment was enough to keep her going. And beyond that there was----well, she couldn't place it right now, but there was another thing rooted in this calamity that was assisting in maintaining her resolve. She wasn't sure what it was, but somehow she knew it was there deep down unconsciously. Those two factors combined enabled her to get a grip on herself and slowly put on a brave face, albeit one far from as sturdy and reinforced as her father's.
"I'm... I'm okay. I'll manage. Physically speaking at least, I'm unscathed." Alice assured Lucian with a nod of her head. She was almost surprised that after a skirmish so bloody and vicious she came out without a scratch... or, well, no. Not almost, she was surprised. If it weren't for the fact that she could hear herself breathing she might have even assumed she was dead, but it was certain that this was reality (regardless of how macabre and twisted it had become). Whatever the nature of the surreal power she had tapped into, it was likely what was to thank for her survival, although that only made her wonder how people without it were faring -- especially when Lilly brought up a similar concern. She wasn't sure exactly what to say to that, but after a few seconds of thinking, some words came to mind. "Whatever's going on, we just have to believe that their fate is in their hands. People can adapt to extraordinary circumstances so... they have to be fine. I won't believe something like this is enough to do an entire city in." They were bold words, but as she spoke them she had to wonder who it was she was actually reassuring.
With a deep exhale, Alice expunged herself of all the thoughts she had unrelated to the struggle ahead. There was already enough to worry about, so it was useless to freight over everything that was happening around her. For now, she just needed to channel her most basic fears ito help her keep pushing forward and out of this hell. "I'm sorry J.U.L.I.A, but right now I'll have to decline. I still don't know a lot about this myself... Once we get out of here maybe I can help shed some light on it." With the response issued she'd creep ahead slowly toward the nearby enemies and once she inched close enough would rush toward them in a sprint.
