For Whom The Bell Tolls (Awakening)

The pain wouldn't stop. Physically things were getting better. The healing from the strange man had helped soothed her pain and the slithering darkness that had swallowed her arm was now more of a odd sensation than anything to truly worry about. No, it wasn't in her body, the pain was in her mind. She saw flashes of what she had to assume were long forgotten memories. Of being taken at night, strapped to tables, kept like a lab rat while they kept pricking her with pins and needles.

Every time a memory faded into the background noise of her mind, a new one resurfaced. She couldn't come to grips with them. They had to have been some mere trick of the Demon inside of her. They had to have been. Her government, her religion, her home? They wouldn't allow such a horrible thing to happen to her, they wouldn't play with such demonic and foul forces. Or take a little girl from her home and use her as a vessel for such evil. No, the bastard was playing tricks on her. She just had to keep her head on straight, focus on helping people, then she could go and talk to somebody. Turn herself in so they co- "Do what? Don't be a fool! They'll kill us. Kill you! Or at least keep you under their thumb for the rest of your life. You saw what they did to you, we finally have power again! Freedom! Leave these people and run!" His voice thundered in her skull but her snarl somehow came out even louder.

"SHUT UP!" The blonde hardly even noticed that she screamed it. Her voice even managing the overwhelming the sound of monsters impacting the ground.

Her hand. Her real hand squeezed down on the writhing mass of shadows that consumed her arm. Gods, how were people going to trust her if she looked like this? "Anybody? Is anybody out there!? We're here to help, I promise!" Cherry called out as she began to look around, checking underneath any rubble first before moving onto spots she figured would be good to hide in.
