The enemy Shadows were tougher than expected. Or, maybe, Winter was weaker than he thought. However, he could not let that... DID THAT KID'S DAMNED ARM JUST TURN INTO A MACHINE GUN?
This was a turbulent time. Still, the best course of action was, indeed, to join her in pushing forward the assault. This time, Winter's dark arts would curse his foes to the next dimension. Or so he hoped...

Amelia stumbled, her eyes going wide from the sudden influx of information. Gripping her staff tighter, she tried to process it all - every scrap of that knowledge was valuable and precious.
But then a gale of wind hit her side, causing her to stumble and fall on one knee. Crying out in pain, she tried to focus the flow of information onto something that would help them fight. Anything else had to wait.

While the first onslaught of attacks had been... less than successful, the situation turned for the better once everyone had gotten over their initial panic. Or, at least, most of them had seemingly collected themselves enough to aim their strikes better.
Cherry however, perhaps due to being in more pain than anyone else there, still suffered from panic. The machine gun she conjured out of her arm roared to life and sent a wall of "lead" indiscrimminately in front of her. The attack hit its intended targets, sure, but the inherently inaccurate volley of bullets hit more than what Cherry had aimed for. Aurelia caught a few stray bullets in the back, causing her to fall forward. "Augh!" She grunted, and struggled to get back up. The shadows reeled from this just as much as Aurelia had, giving both Winter and Amelia the window they needed to enfeeble and scan. The curse landed, causing the shadowy forms of their enemies to slowly wither away, while Amelia caught a pretty good glimpse of their weaknesses, and some behavioural patterns from the Bonepickers. They would grow more defensive when harmed.
Their brief respite ended was cut short, as the enemies recovered, and sought revenge.
Consequence:
The wide spray of bullets hits all enemies. Aurelia also takes a hit of 9 Untyped Damage, Is considered downed and is unable to act this cycle. No "Once More!" is awarded.
Weaknesses: Wind, Ice No Resistances No Immunities No Reflects No Absorbs
Action:
Physical Attack - Melee Cost: 3 HP per target Check: Str or Agi vs. PD Success: You deal HR+5 physical melee damage to the target. Critical: The damage you deal is doubled. Target: Cherry Success on 9 or Higher +3 From Strength.

With its myriad of clenched fists, the Gehennan monstrosity focused its rancor on Cherry, its strength bolstered by one of its cohorts as it swung with everything it had, landing a square hit across Cherry's chest, causing the young girl to stumble backwards. Her balance already thrown for a loop, the other Bonepicker decided to take revenge on her enemies for hurting both it, and its allies.
The monster inhaled copius amounts of air within itself, bloating up like a balloon before violently exhaling a veritable stormwind, cutting and shredding its way like razorblades. The resulting backblast knocked Cherry off her feet and into a nearby car, and with a loud crash, flew straight into the windshield. The others were knocked off their feet by the blast as well, though they sure faired better than the girl with the machine gun.
Results of Turn:
Aurelia is Knocked Down. Takes 9 Damage from Cherry's machine gun attack, and another 11 Wind Damage from the Bonepicker. Cherry takes 11 Wind Damage, 10 Melee damage, and suffers a Damage Tag (Wind Burn). She takes 4 damage when her turn ends. Winter Takes 11 Wind Damage Amelia takes 11 Wind Damage, and suffers a Damage Tag (Wind Burn). She takes 4 damage at the end of her turn.

Friendly fire? That wasn't intentional, was it? Regardless, Winter was glad he wasn't on the receiving end of that. However, he'd get his share, being thrown back by winds one could only imagine coming from a natural disaster.
At least it made enough distance for him to stand back up. Still, the impact left him bruised up, and the others, even worse for wear. He wouldn't be surprised if Cherry was out of the fight, after all that. "Damn you..." Winter glared at the Shadow who had struck him. "I'll kill you, now!" He pointed straight at the Shadow, summoning a bolt of lightning to fry it alive.

No more games, Winter was getting serious now. As soon as he made sure his target was scorched, he unleashed the same attack on the other weaker foe, hoping to mow down their numbers with haste.

Eviscerating the other scoundrel, Winter smirked at the original Shadow before lunging towards it. A concentrated blast of force right in its disgusting face... That felt like a fitting punishment.

The enemies were finally reeling. This opporunity would not go to waste. Winter picked up a road sign that had broken off admist the carnage. Tonight, the only traffic it would be guiding was these demons back to Hell. "It's time to end this!" he shouted, perhaps as a signal to his allies. Raising the sign overhead, he swung it down towards the creature with all his might.

First blood had been spelt.
Conflicting pleasure and guilt rushed through Cherry's system like a tidal wave. She hadn't meant to hit Aurelia, but she was glad to finally be doing some damage. She would just have to apologize later.
If she even got that chance.
"GYAAAH!" A combo of strikes and harsh winds struck at Cherry, sending her flying through glass of a nearby car!
Everything felt like it was burning, her flesh had parted from the shards of glass that sliced into her upon impact. The biting gale the beast sent foward had burnt the rest of her skin so much that it was hard to tell which parts of her were bleeding and which was just suffering from the wind burn.
This was all getting to be to much. The foreign emotions filling her being, the soreness, the burning, she just wanted this to end, she wanted answers and above all, she wanted these things to just die.
With a low snarl, the thick crimson gas climbed up her limb and began covering her like a second skin. Lashing tendrils of thick shadow licking at the air as her fingers twisted and distorted into long, thick claws. "You..... Little..... Bastards....." A more masculine voice was layered over Cherry's usual tone, the two voices sounded warped, like it was being played from a busted and worn out speaker. Nevertheless, despite her wounds, Cherry seemed even more vigorous as she lunged out of the car and went to bite down on the Shadow who sent her flying!

Cherry's final, biting attack connected with a satisfying *CRUNCH* as her teeth buried itself within the almost-bone like "Skin" of the last shadow standing. It cracked and snapped like a potato chip, before the shadow itself dissolved into black tar, along with its compatriots, for whom this battle had proven to have been a bit more than they could handle.
"Sonuvabitch... HEY! Watch where you aim that stupid, fucking gun, you LUNATIC!!!" Aurelia was understandably furious. Being hit in the back (while on accident), could've gotten her killed, had things gone any worse. But fortunately, the three rookies had cleaned up their mistake, and slain all enemies. For now, they were in the clear. But for how long? "Rrgh... We don't have time for this. There are still more people around here that need our help!" Aurelia sighed, casting aside her frustrations with Cherry for now. There were more pressing matters at hand. "Look. You all can handle yourselves pretty well. Would you mind helping the Vanguard look out for any civilians who have yet to evacuate? We need to get as many innocents out of the city as fast as we can. My group's already pressed enough as is. If you could take a sweep back towards the Gilded Rose, and look for more survivors, that'd be great." She had to rendevouz with the rest of her own squad, and then proceed further down Riva Mare. Eloy and the other half of group C already had the Residential area of Riva Mare under lockdown, so it fell to her squad to handle the harbor and shopping districts. "Can I trust you on this?" Her gaze hovered between her freshly awakened comrades. "Well, its up to you what you'll do. Just... Get out of the city safe, with or without any civilians."

- EXPLORATION PHASE BEGINS -
Objective: Reach the Vanguard Garrison at the Gilded Rose Optional Objective: Save any Civilians you come across
Having no time to spare, Aurelia continued south from the belltower, towards the harbor, giving her companions from the Vanguard the all clear. With that one district hopefully in capable hands, did Aurelia see it fit to cover the next one. Which left Amelia, Winter and Cherry to their own devices. The battlefield was a complete mess, with a crashed car, some damaged infrastructure, and splats of shadowy tar everywhere. But judging from the tall pillars of smoke that rose from the southern end of Riva Mare, this area seemed to have dodged the worst of it. The group finds themselves in the middle of a smaller residential district on the western-half of Riva Mare. A long, winding walkway from the sabotaged Belltower would make for a clean, and pretty obstacle free, god's permitting, path to the Gilded Rose. But a lot of the District had been left unaccounted for. It was now up to the group what they wanted to do. See themselves to safety first, look for more civilians as Aurelia had asked them to, or perhaps do something else.

Winter turned away from Aurelia as she wandered off, letting out a bothered sigh. "Why must we do that? It's not our job." More pressingly, the fight was won by a lot closer of a margin than he would have liked. The humans seemed on the verge of death. Still, they had proven themselves quite useful.
"Miss Not-Quite-Human..." Winter stepped towards the one with the demonic arm. "Remain still for a moment." Through some sort of secret, unknown, and possibly even elusive power, a few shards of glass would be uncomfortably ejected from her wounds, and no more would it bleed. "Well... Where are we headed?" One might be inclined to say that some sort of healing magic was employed, but there was no way to know for sure.
He would then turn his attention towards employing the same secret ability the other one while they discussed their plans for what to do next.

Amplified Heal skill @ Cherry for +40 HP

Cherry had to imagine this was what being on drugs felt like. Adrenaline was roaring through her system, she couldn't stop twitching and tearing into the dead Shadow beneath her feet long after it died. It was all wrong, she was losing control of herself. But this just felt so good, it was as if a primal need she wasn't even aware of was finally being fulfilled. She was craving more. She needed to fight more, kill, consume, grow stronger. This was NOT her. This was the damn Demon! It was messing with her head, tainting her mind! "I-I didn't...." Her voice was a distorted mess. Between her heavy breathes and the overlapping, animalistic growl that covered her voice, it was hard to make out what she was actually saying. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking straight...." Hyperventilating, Cherry tried centering herself, eyes closed, mind shielded, mouth muttering prayers to the Five. Asking, pleading for aid, guidance and forgiveness.
Slowly the body wide mass of darkness retreated from her body, the morph of evil now confined to her arm once more. She wanted it gone entirely, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. "No. I am a Human. It's just.... I....." Too long of a story. One she didn't even understand herself. No time to explain herself. "Thank you mister. I know you are a little hesitant, but I would really like your help with finding other survivors. Those monsters are dangerous, innocent people aren't going to last to long without any help." Looking back at her classmate, she asked "are you with me?"

Reluctantly, Winter would agree to help. "I suppose I shall." After all, things wouldn't go back to normal until every last one of these shadows were dealt with. It appeared they had all come with the unanimous intent to destroy the town completely. If they had came to hunt, one could not burn down the ecosystem his prey lived in. That would drive it to extinction. Winter did not stop to wonder why they did so, chalking it up to them being lower life forms who acted without reason. Chaos incarnate like wild animals.
After healing his other teammate, Winter would urge the two to make haste as he began busting down doors and peering down alleyways, looking for any signs of humans or shadows. "Those who lay in hiding, reveal yourself!"

With the three now having properly awakened, the memories of both Amelia and Cherry began slowly coming back, as the internal seals placed within their souls slowly eroded away with their full awakening. This process would take a long time to conclude, but bit by bit, parts of their missing memories resurfaced. Cherry being forcibly taken from her mother, while Amelia saw in painstaking detail how her parents actually perished. A monster, not unlike those they had just encountered, had torn her family apart, limb by limb, leaving her an orphan, alone.
The street was relatively quiet at first, with no-one responding to Winter's call. All that rose in reply was silence. Was everyone here already dead? Or... could they simply not hear them? May be worth it to have a look around.
