Welcome to Persona :: New Arcana! A Persona RPG site!
Welcome to New Arcana!
Welcome, Welcome! You've probably guessed by now, but this is a text-based Persona RPG site for Atlus fans, by Atlus fans. If you're new to Shin Megami Tensei, this place can still be for you, so no need to dash towards the doors! Your first stop should be the introduction board so we can introduce ourselves. Then right after that, feel free to go through our vital information to get a good feel of the site. We hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to post them here. Ciao!
Shin Megami Tensei and Persona belong to ATLUS. We own nothing, and have simply used their data to create a world of our own. They are the true geniuses behind the scenes.
Rui cradled his rifle around his frilly blouse. He realized that it was actually a very bad idea to charge in with Susan and Azami. Both because he really didn't have many close-combat capabilities and because running really fast at the enemy would probably create a bunch of heel clacks that would make the element of surprise...less surprisey than what most of the Cadets present would consider ideal. There were modest downsides being fashionable. Modest. Regardless, he did not quite regret this decision.
Also, he was sort of ordered to hang back and support everyone. And most importantly, this allowed him to keep some distance between him and the "madwoman", who wouldn't surprise him if she just targeted everything in sight indiscriminately. The quiet ones were always crazier. Fact. At the very least, he wanted to say outside of the direct vicinity of her crook.
He quietly summoned his persona and while she floated just barely behind him, he walked calmly and silently in the direction where the earlier two had charged, making sure to keep close enough to support them, but not too close.
In a lot of ways, this was his first experience working in a squad in combat. And he figured that pretty much the best way for someone with his role in combat was to simply not rush forward and ruin it for anyone else. He assumed Susan, Jackie, and maybe Jackie's Dog would all take-point in smashing shadows to little pieces. He at least had seen Susan and Jackie in action and they both seemed like intimidating bruisers.
Best to let them handle all of the uh, stuff that needed handling. And for Rui to back them up where he could. And for that, he decided to scan everywhere the other group wasn't scanning. Susan had told Maria to look at the side entrances in order to prevent the possibility of being flanked - and Rui figured there was nothing wrong in giving his ostensible handler a second pair of eyes, even if those pair of eyes were significantly closer to the action than he was. Susan was in fact quite correct that his dress was...somewhat impractical for hand-to-hand combat. But when Rui thought about it, all of Rui was impractical for hand-to-hand combat. He wasn't sure if he could dent those shadows no matter how hard he hit. Maybe unless he managed to stab one of them right in the eye or something. Was he feeling lucky? Judging by his partners in the squad, he was not feeling lucky.
Empress Arcana: +15% to healing skills. Rearguard: The team at the backlines. In this formation, you'd usually want to put your support oriented members. Support skills (tactical skills, healing, buffs and debuffs) receive a 5% boost in terms of potency (if they refer to percents in how they work.) and your SP and Luck will be raised by 40%. However, in the Rearguard your attack stats will be lowered by 50%.
Strength: Parental Instinct - +15% bonus to Healing. Strength: Evacuation Orgia (Inhuman) - During Orgia Mode, if not attacking, Rui can move extremely quickly while carrying a very heavy weight, even briefly flying.
Weakness: LEED Certified Batteries - +15% to all electric damage taken. Weakness: Glitchy Recovery (Inhuman) - During the three turns after recovering from Orgia mode, suffer a 15% penalty to dexterity.
Jackie had been walking in silence, not particularly paying attention. He had accepted the Eye of Horus without argument. It had proven a useful tool during the T situation, and he wasn't going to be turning it down this time. Something about how easy it made it to keep in contact made him a bit more...comfortable? Going into things. At least this way even if the group got split up they could keep in touch, providing nothing happened to Officer Groves...he was a bit glad she had decided to train, with that being the case. He couldn't really offer her any advice that she didn't seem to already know, but that was fine. Disheartening, but fine.
WARNING. MEMORY DATA IS 15% CORRUPT.
That was funny. His memory didn't feel corrupt. He probably just needed to clear his browsing history, or something. He could run diagnostics later and find out what his processors thought was so corrupt. He didn't have an hour to install any new updates Boss might have come up with, anyway. Whatever it was could wait for later, when he wasn't on patrol. It wasn't like 15% was a big number, anyway. It was like, 1/10...rounding down. Either way, it wasn't his problem yet, and it wouldn't be for a while. No, he had something much bigger to be thinking about.
Officer Azami's mask, namely. He knew she was tempermental, a confident, and sometimes rude, but this was way, way too much. He would be reporting it to His Highness later. He didn't know how she'd gotten T's mask, but the Cadets would NOT be taking trophies from fallen Terrorists. It would be a shame if she got demoted over it, but he couldn't just sit and watch her. In the back of his head, he wrote up his formal, yet anonymous complaint. She asked him to translate for her, but he wasn't sure if he'd be doing that. He was uncomfortable, even if it didn't show.
Really, he had to wonder if Officer Tsurinai condoned this, at all. She was Officer Azami's owner, she must have known that her dog had chosen to pick up a trophy on the last mission...maybe he needed to talk to her too?...no, it was still awkward, given previous events. The topic would undoubtedly come up, and he wasn't ready to discuss his cowardice yet.
The team swept in quickly, quietly, professionally to catch the demons off-guard. Susan would strike first to signify the start of the assault. "Engage at will! Seshat, Ramah Aldaw!" She Who Scrivens would appear from the businesswoman's subconsciousness, twitching before sweeping its hand to assault the larger and more visibly dangerous target with a barrage of pointed spears of light.
"Haaaaadhaaaaaa lnnnnn yusaaaeeeiiidaaaaaak..."
Mentally transmitted text would also appear within the vision of her teammates as Susan took her usual role of informing other Cadets and advising from what she noticed. Terui would gain additional instruction, being the new recruit.
This enemy does not appear that strong, standard combat protocol should be fine.
Terui, pay attention to how battle is conducted within a team. We are currently in the Discovery Phase, where we learn what our opponent is capable of and what they can do. Many demons though not all of them will possess a weakness to certain supernatural phenomena, between us if we can discover a weakness we can exploit it. You will always want to probe defenses in an assault to make it more effective. You will want to be forward yet cautious in the Discovery Phase, or assist your other teammates by enhancing their abilities or weakening the enemy in preparation.
Strength: Professional Courtesy - Charm and Rage have their success rates lowered by 15% against Susan. Strength: I'm the One in Control! - Once per withdrawal from Persona Overdose Susan can choose the target of a skill she uses instead of rolling randomly. She makes this choice after rolling for her target. The skill is still rolled randomly like normal.
Weakness: Not According to Plan - Panic and Fear have an extra 15% chance to succeed against Susan. Weakness: Rip Off the Bandage - When Susan is suffering the negative effects after Persona Overdose she loses 10% of her total HP every turn. This damage can and will knock her unconscious if she isn't careful but it can't result in her death since her Persona won't willingly kill its host.

Rui nodded, "Understood...Captain?" Rui really didn't know how to address Susan. But her orders...actually made a lot of sense to him. There was no sense in rushing into combat with little information, especially as a newbie. And he did understand, knowledge was power.
After the battle raged on for a bit, with Rui mostly observing, he decided there was another source of knowledge - the shadows themselves. He blew a kiss at the lone one standing and casually called out to it, "Hey, so like, maybe if I were in your position, I'd give it a rest right about now."
