Welcome to Persona :: New Arcana! A Persona RPG site!
Welcome to New Arcana!
Welcome, Welcome! You've probably guessed by now, but this is a text-based Persona RPG site for Atlus fans, by Atlus fans. If you're new to Shin Megami Tensei, this place can still be for you, so no need to dash towards the doors! Your first stop should be the introduction board so we can introduce ourselves. Then right after that, feel free to go through our vital information to get a good feel of the site. We hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to post them here. Ciao!
Shin Megami Tensei and Persona belong to ATLUS. We own nothing, and have simply used their data to create a world of our own. They are the true geniuses behind the scenes.
Heather skipped forward, barely paying attention as Gisele patched up Yeara. Did those two actually get hit in that fight? Man, that was hilarious. Those enemies were total whimps! How'd they take ANY real damage from those things? Still, they had died, and Heather felt stronger, which was...honestly a bit awesome. So practicing would make perfect, huh? Well then! That just meant that she had to kill some more scum on the way to the journal. It seemed like she'd picked a real winner with Gisele, though. That girl tore those things up! Yeara did fine too. Not that the bird had proven herself to Heather, but it was a start. Heather wouldn't lie and say she did great in that battle, either. She had missed! And she'd missed a total LOSER like those mutant scumbags! But it was probably Cleopatra's fault, somehow. Yeah, that was probably right. Blaming a ghost monster was easier than taking the blame herself for that one. Besides, there'd be more things to hit, she was sure. After all, odds were that wasn't the only group of monsters in this dark ass place.
As Heather skipped forward, she briefly thought about Plulax's warnings about the Journal. That...gave her some ideas. If the Journal corrupted people, after all, then there were probably some ignorant sheeple in Junction that'd give it a look. Of course, that would require getting one over on Plulax, somehow. Which probably wasn't an easy task. She could try using it on Gisele or Yeara, but she needed those two, at least for now. She could read it herself, but it was too early in her plans for her to possibly die or go insane. She needed the rational part of her mind until Junction was hers, after all! And once she was Mayor Empress of the Universe she could read creepy erotic fanfiction, or whatever the hell was in that Journal. She hoped it was raunchy AF! Thought, that made her pause midstep.
The TV Guy had mentioned 'Him', hadn't he? Maybe he'd give more straight answers, if Heather could track him down. After all, she had no clue how many answers Plulax would give for the journal, and she'd rather ask questions more related to Junction than to whoever 'He' was.It sounded like TV Bro and Plulax were both against him though...or at least the spread of his corruption. Which of course meant Heather was planning on fucking shit up, in SOME way.
She paused for a moment, before darting forwards. Enemy ahead. "Surpriiiiiise!" She'd sing-song, Daggers at the ready.
"What is this?" Yeara would question in mild disgust as Giselé bandaged her wounds. "This looks like some rags you tore off of an old shriveled towel." She'd snark, a hint of sarcasm to her voice as she'd roll her eyes and give the blue haired girl an appreciative nod.

Yeara would crack her neck to one side as they continued walking. Honestly she was a little disappointed in herself, she'd let her time here in Junction let her get soft. She was no where near the fighter she used to be back on her home world. Now she was rusty, her muscle memory helped for the most part but it couldn't do the whole job for her. At least the shit bags found back here were easy pickings, was something to let herself get warmed up on. Get her back into the swing of things, let her stretch out her wing and let loose. Man she missed the old days back home... It was great and all that she got to fight again, she had missed doing so quite a lot as of late. Though, there was something much different about the fight here and the fight back on her home world. Back there they were fighting for survival, not only for their own sake but for their whole tribes. Actually having a reason behind what you were doing, a reason to push yourself forward and to come out on top for those who needed you to. It was just a completely different feeling she wasn't sure if she could ever experience again. Yeah she was helping Giselé and Heather. But she barely knew either of them and it wasn't really any skin of her back if anything happened to them. She wasn't even here to try and 'protect' Junction or any of that crap either. She was only here to get in some training and there was just an annoying emptiness that left behind.
Regardless, she was here now so she might as well make the most of it. With any luck something more interesting may happen down the line here. Perhaps if and when they do find this book that fox was rattling on about. The Talarian wondered if all that was said about it was true or not. Or just some ploy to stop them from discovering what was truly written inside. Who knew. She didn't care what was in it or if they found it at all so whatever. As long as they didn't actually get lost down here she didn't care. She had to get home to Karikan eventually. It'd be a nightmare if he got bored and started destroying the house again. Urgghh... Oh, there were more people in their way already?
As the group progressed, they would eventually come upon a bloated corpse blocking their path. From within a deafening buzzing sound echoed, building and building until finally the corpse burst, unleashing three more Gutter Flys
Soul Skill Name: Spirit of the Earth Persona Name: The Azure Knight Tier: Tier 1 Cost: Passive Type of Damage: N/A Description: It has been said that somewhere in a far off universe, demons who held chaos within their hearts aligned themselves with the mother of all life in a bid against both the armies of God and the twisted humans who had fallen victim to complacency while their planet decayed. While they ultimately failed in their mission to plunge the world into the primordial anarchy of the past, all who are considered the property and servants of the Morningstar still feel a faint connection to the goddess who the forces of hell once rallied behind. Even some demons such as Gisèle who never manifested in that universe and know nothing of it can instinctively call upon the oaths sworn with that deity in order to bend nature to their will during their struggles against authority. As a result, Gisèle does 15% extra damage whenever she uses earth skills against an enemy.
Relevant(?) Strengths/Weaknesses:
—Strength Name: Eat the Rich —Description: When fighting against another character Gisèle will deal 10% more damage to them if they have more VC than her in their inventory.
—Strength Name: Warrior of Chaos —Description: Throughout all her many incarnations across the multiverse the Scourge of Kings has always been a skilled swordswoman. Under the rare circumstance that she wasn't able to rely on her supernatural powers, she could fall back on her prowess with a blade and her natural speed to deal with her opponents. Mechanically this translates to her being able to attack twice in one turn with her soulbound weapon.
—Strength Name: Avatar of Malice —Description: Gisèle's fury is unyielding and on the battlefield she pulsates with inhuman levels of hatred. If she uses her class ability and enters her Corrupted form then once the duration ends she'll be inflicted with the Rage ailment specifically instead of a random one. It should be noted however that if for some reason she decides to enter Corrupted form again afterwards then whatever ailment she gets next will be randomized as it would typically be.
—Strength Name: Claws —Description: If Gisèle enters her Corrupted form then on both of her hands she will gain small claws capable of inflicting real damage on the enemy. These claws aren't anything spectacular; they're the length of average human fingers and will only inflict as much damage as a normal knife would do to the person. When up close and personal though they can be useful and if Gisèle wants to make a person's death look particularly gruesome then she can quite literally tear them to shreds through this.
—Racial Strength Name: I Am Thou, Thou Art I —Description: Gisèle is not a human being, but rather a product of them. While she does have a human form, it exists only as a container for her tale and soul, a hollow vessel that is only maintained by the beliefs and emotions of entities which know "true life." While she is still affected by real damage and can certainly be "killed" by non-supernatural weaponry, this method of destroying her will never be able to put a permanent end to her so long as someone within Junction continues to observe her existence in some form. As a result, Gisèle may reform within the Lower Ward of the city if killed through this method and will simply reappear with a new body with the old one having been destroyed in a burst of ethereal flames at the time of death.
It should be stressed however that this does not make her immortal. This racial strength applies only to death through real damage and cannot shield her against Personas, soulbounds, side-arms, soul skills, etc. If she dies to those then she's dead for good just like anyone else would be. In addition, her old body won't vanish for at least a few minutes and during this time the soul will continue to be housed within it thereby being open to attack. This means that were a person to acquire knowledge of this racial strength then they'd easily be able to counter it through simply wailing on the body through supernatural means until her HP is depleted to zero; the only saving grace to what would otherwise be a fatal flaw of this ability is the simple fact that it's extraordinarily unlikely that they'd arrive at this conclusion without Gisèle herself telling them about it.
If it's not obvious it should also be noted that any items or VC she had on her at the time of death will be lost. They won't even be able to be recovered by her allies or enemies as the flames which engulf her body will destroy all valuables on her person. Even if they take advantage of the short timeframe between her demise and her body's disappearance in order to loot from her discarded husk, the goods they gather from her will dematerialize in an instant as soon as she does.
Last but not least of the stipulations: it takes at least an ingame day for her to revive, so she absolutely cannot reenter the topic she died in or go into any other topics which were happening at the same moment. Even ignoring the day that it takes for her to resurrect, it'd still take some time to get from the Lower Ward to wherever she was last, so she can't just stroll right back in as if nothing happened.
—Weakness Name: Strange Bedfellows —Description: Needless to say by now, Gisèle is not very fond of those at the top of the food chain in society, so working alongside them can prove quite difficult. If the majority of her allies have more VC than her then any healing or buff skills used on her by her party will be 5% less effective. This means that a basic Media would only heal 15% of her HP instead of 20%, an unboosted Tarukaja would only give her a 25% increase in attack power, etc. This effect doesn't apply to passives, however, so skills such as Auto-Mataru would be unaffected by it.
—Weakness Name: Dated Tech —Description: It's not as if Gisèle's myth has never manifested in a world with advanced technology. Poverty exists in any time period after all and any reality where megacorporations exist is sure to attract her wrath like bees to honey. Speaking frankly though, it's far more likely for her to manifest somewhere like medieval Europe than it is for her to appear in Neo Tokyo. Her tale is one rooted in the feudal system of the time and the superstitions of the common people, so it's only natural that she'd take after those times in some way and feel slightly uncomfortable using highly advanced technology when there's a more familiar method available. It's partially because of this that her side-arm is a bow-and-arrow and because she uses this instead of a gun her attacks with Envy only ignore 5% of the enemy's PEnd instead of the usual 10%.
—Weakness Name: Aquaphobia —Description: Every time she stares out into the waters Gisèle is reminded of... unpleasant memories. Around significant amounts of water, she feels incredibly uncomfortable and she'll try her best to avoid it at any cost making swimming or visiting an aquarium out of the question for her. This also has the mechanical effect of increasing her chance of being inflicted with Fear for the next two turns after being struck by an ice or water skill. Ice increases the chance by 5% whereas water increases it by 10%. The extra chances don't stack on top of each other though; for instance, if she was hit by an ice skill and then shortly after hit by a water skill the 10% boost would override the 5%.
—Weakness Name: Monstrous —Description: When Gisèle goes into her Corrupted form she reveals herself as the Sword of Satan and thereby a demonic entity. In this state light skills are 10% more effective against her.
—Racial Weakness Name: Azure Sin —Description: Gisèle's inexorable ties to her myth and her supernatural nature grant her a means of defying death, but they also ensure that she will forever be a slave to the parable from which she sprung. As such, she will never be free of that Azure Sin, the crime that stained her inside and out and stole from her her humanity, that very first murder that her tragedy itself is intrinsically rooted in. It matters not whether the tale is true or false, whether or not someone could convince her that it was just a legend; she is nothing more than an actor on a stage, a pawn of pawns cursed to play the role she was given. And so shall the waters forever reject her, so shall she never know comfort within the waves.
What this means is that if someone were to submerge her body in water after killing her through real damage they'd negate her chance of revival and cause her to experience death as she normally would. However, this also has another and arguably much more potent effect.
Any time a water skill is used on Gisèle it has a chance of instantly killing her as if it were a light or dark skill of an equivalent tier. The way the skills normally function doesn't change meaning that she still receives damage in PvS from being attacked by them, they just have an extra benefit when used against her on top of that. Any relevant boosts to water skills will also increase the chance of the instant kill being a success but just like for light and dark skills it can't exceed the cap that's in place.
The Gutter Flies simply allowed the mystic energies to wash over them, relishing in the pain that followed. However, they pressed the attack, hoping to spur the seekers on to killing them before what was around the corner could reach them.

As two of the putrid floating corpses fell to the ground, the final who barely clung to what ever life it had left reared back and let lose another putrid gust of wind in one final act of defiance.
A chittering could be heard around the corner, almost like the clinking together of thick bony scales.

The sweet sound of snapping wings brought with it a wave of sensations and emotions, but catharsis was chief among them for Gisèle. Sinking the blade into the beast with a vicious slice as Heather flanked it from the side, the Azure Knight would lose herself for a moment in animalistic ferocity as she stomped furiously on the bloated corpse while subduedly laughing to herself, smashing her heel onto its limp remains and digging it into the back of the head it rested atop. This rather pointless process would continue for a few seconds but it'd come to an abrupt stop as she drew back and sighed; all interest in and malice towards the creatures faded away instantly and she shook her head in unsatisfied silence before briefly looking back down at the corpse in the same way that a bored child might at a discarded toy. There was some pleasure to be gained from it (enough to get lost temporarily in the wave of bloodlust) but in the end there wasn't any real joy to be found in the act of slaughtering them. Faceless Gutter Flies unsurprisingly couldn't compare to actual deserving targets, though ultimately, a job was a job. If nothing else she was glad to be freeing them from the horrid infection; euthanasia was making for a wonderful training exercise and a mass murderer like her understandably experienced little guilt in exterminating seemingly mindless creatures. The isolated twinge of pity from earlier didn't repeat as she turned away and prepared to move on further into the dungeon.
However, what she had failed to notice in the midst of her massacre was the arrival of another foe, a creature whose noisy approach had gone unnoticed thanks to some admittedly skewed priorities that'd emerged in the heat of the moment. Now staring face to face with the entity, Gisèle remained utterly still and unmoving with a mostly blank expression, still gripping her soulbound sword ready to strike if it charged her but not immediately choosing to engage it as if she was still processing the situation. There was something... wrong about this thing, outside of what was obvious. For all intents and purposes, she should've been numbed to abominable creatures such as these thanks to her "unique" circumstances, and in truth she was; there wasn't any fear in her eyes even with the creature having caught her off guard. No. Instead she just felt... strange, weirded out, uncomfortable. Maybe it was because of its relatively more humanoid structure (in comparison to the glorified gnats from a few seconds ago). Gisèle had long since divorced herself from humanity but... judging by its looks, so had this thing too. It was as if she was staring into a mirror and the longer she gazed into it the more she felt something thick and goopy writhe its way up her throat, probably that black shit she puked up back during the Fungeon, worming around in her as if it was trying to crawl its way out. With a forceful swallow it subsided, but the Scourge of Kings was still left with an odd feeling in her stomach, the vessel she inhabited feeling inexplicably more hollow than usual.
Slowly reaching down into her pocket and casually drinking a blue bottle in front of the beast, she'd screw the cap back on and toss the remaining contents to Heather while still staring at the mutant with a slightly raised brow. To an onlooker the scene might've even appeared a tad bit comedic, but any slim possibility of hypothetical wacky shenanigans would predictably be crushed underfoot as Gisèle launched ahead without a word and dove at the creature, weapon hungrily flying forward and hastening the inevitable shift from staredown to struggle in the blink of an eye.
Using one Medicine and one Snuff Soul on self. Transferring 1 Medicine to Heather and moving up 1 space to embrace the doom awaiting me confront the Black Star.
Passives:
Invigorate 1 | Recovers 3 SP on each user turn | Passive | Tier 1
Heather caught the vial,, and stared at the...creature in front of them. Ooh...this was a big boy. But mutant scum was still mutant scum. Heather flipped one of her knives. "Well...somebody's motivated today. #ripandtear." She grinned after chugging what was left of the medicine.
