The card would be cut in two, and would suddenly vanish without warning. The Shadow was not residing within this one, so the Persona-User would get one more chance to find him before being attacked himself. "Haha! Nice try, loser! Better guess right this time or you're gonna be feeling really bad!" The remaining three cards danced around, awaiting the Persona-User's next move.

The persona wasted no time in it's next attack; viciously slicing the Ace of Hearts with one mighty cleave.³ It seemed if this two was another false card, the 'child' would be counterattacking. The 3^rd wouldn't hesitate, though. The War Tactician eyed with steady hues as the attack finished.

The second card would be split, and to no avail the Shadow wouldn't appear. A laughter would circle the room as the Queen of Diamonds would shatter, revealing the child once more. Sticking a tongue out at the dark skinned man, the Shadow would slide across the ground and send a powerful punch towards the Persona-User's gut. Once the attack was performed, the Shadow would launch back and the cards would once again reassemble. Spinning around it, the young child would vanish and the third round of the game would start immediately. "Haha! Loser Loser!"

The fist of the child collided with the gut of Cole; causing the 3^rd year to slide back slightly upon contact.

'tch..'

Gatsuga vanished within a vibrate display of fire and re-appeared directly in front of Cole. The Persona dismissed the bastard sword clinched within her jaws and howled. As it howled, he felt the energy flowing through his body and whatever damage the shadow child caused would be more or less healed.⁴ The Brawler spat to the side and eyed the suspending rotating playing cards. This little game was getting rather annoying but he couldn't afford losing it...

The cards would continue to spin. The Persona-User wasted one of his turns healing, meaning he had one shot to get which card the Shadow was in, correct. With his back to the corner, the Shadow couldn't help but giggle in the background. This was quite a humorous event for it, because once this User was out of the way, his original was left all too himself. How grand! Marvelous! Cole Barbados had a choice to make in one of the most annoying battles he would ever see in his life.

The war tactician summoned the massive bastard sword with a mere thought. She'd charge towards the suspending cards upon the summoning of the sword. With glowing almond optics, Gatsuga sliced right through the King of Clubs.⁵

"Nananan!" The small Shadow taunted as it reappeared from the Jack of Spades. Spinning around, the child laughed with a carefree twirl. "This is no different than a regular gamble. The chances of you beating me is slim to none, loser! Maybe you should run away and try again another day! Though by that time, your friend will be dead." With a bright smile, the child launched forward and sent a spiraling headbutt into the boxer's gut before bouncing back into a roll. The cards would once again spin around him, causing the Shadow to disappear from sight. This deadly game of chance would become worst and worst, yet the Shadow seemed to be enjoying it every second. Taking pleasure in seeing people fail in his games, it was quite sadistic. Not only this, but taking advantage of them aswell? Was this all gambling with chance was about?

'Fuck...'

The 3^rd year was struck by yet another sneak attack by the adolescent shadow. His physically superior body felt extremely weak as he collapsed to one knee. Sweat trickled down the side of his face as he eyed the suspending playing cards once again.

'Ha! Me? Run? As if, kiddo. I'll run away after I pound your fuckin' face in!'

Cole boasted; attempting to lift his weakened body from the ground. Gatsuga appeared directly beside him and began licking his cheek like all Canine's tend to do. Cole felt the energy coursing through his body; it was just enough for him to slowly raise from the ground as he swayed from the struggle of doing so.⁶ He sighed and rubbed his throbbing forehead. The persona eyed it's summoner and knew at this rate the battle would end soon; and in the shadows favor. However, the look in Cole's eyes said otherwise; as if he was still in control even in this most dire of situations. The self-proclaimed Pugilist looked down at the white beast before him and grinned.

'Don't trip. We got this.'

Gatsuga took her majestic glare off Cole and stood directly in front of him with snarling jaws. Whatever happened next, the Persona stood ready for it.

"Hahaha! Loser Loser Loser!" The Shadow laughed as the cards began to dance circles around Cole Barbados and his mangy mutt. Shadow Dansen was becoming more and more taunting. Who wouldn't win the momentum was on their side? Now that the Persona-User was so worried about his health, he constantly wasted turns to guess which card the boy was hiding within. Thus, he was trapped in a perpetual gauntlet and when he ran out of steam, the Shadow would easily be able to finish him off. Tackling this Shadow alone was either very brave or very stupid. Regardless, the Shadow couldn't help but laugh seeing how his opponent was in such pain. That's what he got for talking so much!

The crimson hue of the doorway would suddenly fill the strange room where this brutal battle was taking place. Walking out of this crimson light would be none other than Tsurinai Naito himself; the boy who had sent Barbados Cole in to fight on his behalf. Things seemed to be taking longer than expected, as such Naito took it upon himself to investigate the situation. On entry, he wasn't expecting to see a series of cards circling around Barbados Cole's body, or seeing Sukumada Dansen slouched against a wall. This surely was one strange event, was it not? It didn't take long for Tsurinai Naito to deduce the Shadow had something to do with the cards. Extending his right arm, a flash of cyan light would appear upon the palm of his hand. In its replacement would be a black scabbard housing that of his Sugari No Ontachi. A blade only true Emperors could wield in battle. It was practically his namesake given form, and his Persona only furthered the claim. For his soul to take the form of the first Emperor, it obviously meant he was a natural born leader. An elitist above the rest of the dregs he constantly found himself around. Though, in his defense, he did think highly of his fellow humans. He simply wanted to see them strive. To evolve. These Shadows seemed to be a major factor in pushing this growth further. After all, if one could face themselves, that meant they could grow and learn. Those who died against their Shadow was pathetic. It meant they could not accept the truth. They could not learn from it. Was it human nature to ignore everything that you didn't agree with? Even Naito, too, suffered from such a thing once upon a time. Regardless of this, time was at the essence and this Shadow was becoming an eye sore.

Placing a hand on the hilt of his blade, the silver haired Persona-User would dash through the spiraling cards and make it to Barbados' side. With eyes narrowed, he looked down on the User while shaking his head. "You kept me waiting, Barbados Cole. I wasn't expecting to see you playing cards in here." The Tsurinai spoke with his usual blunt tone as his silver hues shifted over to Sukumada Dansen, who was slouched against the wall. He didn't say a word at this, and simply shook his head while paying attention to the battle. "Care to fill me in on this Shadow?" Naito asked Cole with a nonchalant tone as he tossed his scabbard to the side and stabbed his blade into the ground. Reaching into his coat pocket, he would remove his two signature white gloves and place them upon his hands. This wasn't his first time dealing with the annoyances called Shadows, and sadly it would probably not be his last. Sending Barbados Cole in was a dirty move. He believed in not risking himself, and learning all he could about a Shadow before stepping up himself. It would be acceptable losses, correct? Surely Barbados knew of the Shadow's patterns or gimmicks and could share this with him now. As long as the battle was won in the end, it didn't matter about the injured. The ends justified the means.

'What can I say, I can't resist a good ole' game of go-fish, squirt. You have any sevens?'

He asked the underclassmen with his usual sarcastic tone. The majestic hound placed her almond glare upon the 3^rd year and felt the exhaustion radiating from his body. The Persona trotted over to it's summoner and healed him once again⁷. The feeling of aching bones and weak knees faded away into nothingness as the aura of rejuvenation quickly came into effect. Upon this finishing, Cole stroked the majestic canine behind it's fluffy ears. As this little moment came to a closing, Naito wanted information about this shadow.

'The name of the game is simple: choose the right card he is hiding in before he gets you. There's four cards and you have two chances. Get it right, you deal damage to it. Get it wrong, it deals damage to you.'

Cole ceased his explanation for a split second and realized something.

'Well, shit! That was before you decided to jump in. Now the game can be pretty much anything. It is the dealers house after all.'

He chuckled and started rotating his arms in circular rotations.

'gotta love gambling.'

The Jack of Spades card would shatter, and the small Shadow would appear like a missile. Hitting the dark skinned man in the gut once more, the Shadow would roll back and pop to its feet in a laugh. However, his laughing was cut short when he noticed the weird silver guy who seemed to suddenly appear. "Hey! A new player?! I didn't say you could bring in more players!" The "child" crossed his arms and gave a crooked grin. "Then again, the more the merrier. Chance is on my side in here, and I can't lose! AhahahahAHAH!" The cards raised and began to circle around the Shadow once more. However, this time another card joined into the fray. This card's face showed the "Joker" design, and with this new addition, the Shadow vanished in a blink of an eye. "The rules are the same! You have two chances to guess where I am. If you fail, then get ready for some pain!" The Shadow's disorted words held no source, just like before, as the five cards began to circle around the two Persona-Users this time around. Now where was he hiding?

A game of chance.. He should have figured with how Sukumada spoke of it. Though it did make Tsurinai Naito wonder why his Shadow didn't transform, but instead used cheap parlor tricks. Without saying a word, he'd focus his blade towards the King, and would attack with a forward slash straight through the card, not attacking only once with his weapon, but twice.

The 3^rd year wouldn't falter as the shadow executed yet another sneak attack. Cole held his ground upon impact and spat arrogantly off to the side. Gatsuga continued to heal the Fighter in between these attacks, but even the Persona had its limits in terms of healing capability ⁸. It seemed they were to continuing playing defensively until the right moment to strike reviled itself.

The User guessed wrong, and the remaining cards continued to spin around the two adversaries. If they were wrong once again, the Shadow would once again attack.
