Want to hang out? (Cecil / Tomomi)

Laughing and nodding, Tomomi completely failed to notice the C4. As it detonated, Rife took all the damage he needed to take, especially at how high his character was up the map - with the explosion, the Rife avatar went flying up the screen, before going out of the screen and disappearing with an audible ping. "Bum!" Would be Tomomi's affirmation that he had lost his first of three lives, followed by the temporarily invincible Rife returning on a floating platform. How to deal with constant explosions... This was a predicament that Tomomi thought on while sipping on some lemonade.

Oh great beauty, the star KO, one's foe sailing off into the sky to lose a life forevermore. "Going to have to step up your game." Cecil grinned, not releasing his controller even as Tomomi took the chance to drink himself. A hand taken off the controller was an opening to exploit, and he didn't dare give Tomomi one while he was still invincible.
So...what now?

Another mine. Dig another one into the ground while he was drinking. He should be able to fully charge this one.
Few items lying around too...
He grabbed a Frink Badge and prepared to evade.

Things were looking bad for the Rife player. Things have gotten serious, the taunts flying on both sides. Setting his lemonade back down, if he wore one, this would be the part where Tomomi turned his hat around. He didn't have a hat though, so instead, he settled for leaning forwards. Items lying around was an accurate description, and unfortunately for Cecil, one of the most OP was near Rife: The rainbow moon.

Running into and using the rainbow moon, Tomomi decided to use the best possible strategy, running directly towards Cobra and successfully ignoring the mine by the power of temporary invincibility power ups, Rife now spamming the dash attacks.

"Dammit! Of all things!"
Cobra was now on the run, forced to evasive action as he hopped between the different platforms to avoid harm. One of the dash attacks caught him as he dropped C4 onto the rainbow-patterned Rife, but otherwise, when you weren't committed to anything and we actively focused on it, you had more than enough chance to escape after each dash.
Oh, how he longed to punish that ending lag after the (admittedly quick, but) predictable attacks, but invincibility was a bitch.

So he continued to leg it up and down the stage.
"You'd be soooo screwed without that moon."

"Oh, definitely! But, I have the moon!"

And then he no longer had the moon, the rainbow glowing ending as Tomomi used a jump to quickly get out of the way of Cobra's explosive attacks such as mines and C4, using Rife's air superiority to do a double jump and air attack, to be high enough that he could land where was safe - in theory, waiting for Cecil to place another mine so that he knew where to land.

"Sure about that?"

Mines were great and all, but hell if they didn't take a while to set up. More than enough time for him to get in for a hit at this range. He could stick C4 just about anywhere too, but it wouldn't scratch him while he had a moon to empower him.
Letting it stick to him while he was invincible and detonating it once it wore off? That was fair game.
Cobra ran in, another beep signalling the activation that would make taking that hit worth it. The inconspicuous little pack that had stuck to Rife vanished as an explosion rocked their exact location, and soon Cobra jumped up to kick out in a sequence of powerful blows that would take Rife up another 30% if they all landed.
Sure, Cobra was not the best known for his air game, but dear god did everything hurt if it landed.
All four lumbering hits.

"Coming for you, Tomomi...!"

As the damage sustained by Rife suddenly shot up, Tomomi found himself swearing beneath his breath in, of all languages, German, before using the momentum for an air combo to attack Cobra in return, using the temporary invincibility frames from the damage to get in close, before doing a single quick slash, a heavy attack to launch Cobra up, and then a downward slash, all in all hitting for about 20% should they connect properly.

"This is war friend! War I say!"

Tomomi was really getting to grips with things. That actually hurt.
"You do not want to go to war with me." As he came against the ground, Cecil teched the landing and rolled behind Rife, grabbing him in a chokehold and throttling him before chucking him in the air. As he flew up, Cobra jumped in the air to boot him up further, and set up a mortar as he landed. "It might just blow up in your face."

The mortar shot came flying up at Rife.

And it connected, Tomomi's jaw practically dropping as once more, from such a low percentage threshold, Rife was sent flying off screen once more. It took a moment for the poor litter boy to realise what had happened, before shaking his head, the boy stepped off the pedestal, ready to inevitably lose 3-0 in this fight as he sent Rife forwards once more, this time making extra sure to avoid any mines and C4 that Cobra would scummily place.

Oh, how cautious Tomomi was being. The only remote time they went on a significant offensive was when they were literally invincible...
Funnily enough, running away from someone all the time without ranged options, let alone when you opponent DID have them and didn't care much where you were...didn't tend to see any success. It was a while since he could exploit such timid play, faced with an opponent that didn't seem to remember the tools they had to get in safely. He knew several places himself where once upon a time his family would have gutted him for pulling what he had on Tomomi.

Maybe he'd start pointing things out next match...but the 3-0 was so close right now. Elusive as it had always been, it was too tempting to deliberately sacrifice at this moment.

Grenades flew toward Rife as he let Tomomi continue as he had, letting him stew in his own juices as he tried to get in. The last one he cooked a little, holding it in hand and giving what seemed an opening before tossing it forth to detonate in mid-air, just slightly in advance of what he thought Tomomi would expect.

Just as the grenades flew towards him, Tomomi made sure to do an aerial evade to the nearest platform, before pressing back to guard himself from any more oncoming attacks. As he went to perform his next action however...

"Chikushō!" the boy shouted, the screen freezing and the sudden whirring of a frozen and broken audio file repeating itself. Realising how rude he was, however, the boy suddenly grew bright red, Tomomi hiding his face in his hands. "Oh, um... I am... Very sorry for being rude there... And um... It looks like, the uh... Thing's on the frits... It does that every now and again... Sorry I didn't warn you in advance, I kind of... Forgot it did that..."

Pulling his hands away from his face, the boy went back to his lemonade, now in awkward silence.

Cecil startled a little as everything froze up, a part of him absolutely frustrated by the way he had been denied as he realised what had happened. Mostly though, the sound grated at his ears, and after a while of covering his ears he just stuck his headphones atop his head once more to block out the sound somewhat.
"Don't worry about that. Not like I haven't heard people cursing." He gave a strained laugh, a little edge to his smile. "Just...make the sound stop? Please? It's...I don't always handle sound well. I have these for a reason."
As much as he was trying to act like it didn't bother him, Cecil was frantically scrabbling for his music player with one of his free hands.

Suddenly worried for his friend who was clearly, as he stated, not handling the sound well, Tomomi got up, wasting no time with anything and not even trying to sort the problem out, quickly unplugging both the television and the games console and, once they were unplugged, gently setting the wires and plugs down. Letting out a light exhale, the boy returned to his seat. "Alright. Um... Sorry about that. I hope that didn't cause too many problems for you? If you need pain killers I have a few in the kitchen, or you can use the crisps to try take the focus of your brain from your sense of sound to focusing on taste? I know Joggers aren't the most luxury but, they have flavour..."

"No no, no need for painkillers, I got this, I got this..." Grabbing his half-drunk lemonade, he practically poured what remained down his throat and slamming the glass down. "Haa-aa-aaah..." That hurt. That always hurt. But it was what he needed right now, honestly.
Sighing unevenly as the last of the pain of chugging a fizzy drink went away, he removed his headphones and started trying not to mow through the crisps. "It...it's fine. Not your fault the hardware's faulty." He pauses, going through a few more crisps. "...you...seem to have an idea about this stuff...?"

At the statement, Tomomi shrugged, taking a sip of his own lemonade, the glass now half empty. No reason not to explain. "Ah, yeah, I um... Have a couple diagnosis which mean I'm a bit sensitive myself sometimes. I have a heightened anxiety disorder, and a vitamin deficiency... So, um, it's not as active as yours seems to be, but, if something happens, I go into sensory overdrive. Since I've had the diagnosis for a while, I've sort of learned some ways of minimising the damage? It's exhausting when it happens though, so, um, if you need a rest or anything, I completely understand?" the boy offered a smile, before helping himself to some crisps.
