A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptySat Jun 16, 2018 6:26 pm

Another day, another moment of walking around without a clue of what he was doing. Still, the day off work gave him an opportunity to check out a district he hadn’t gone to very often. The media land of media stuff. Vista Square. Screens on big buildings, and bustling amounts of people walking around looking through windows at the newest tech, or other things that might take their interest.

Yep, there certainly was a bunch of technology here…

As he looked around, the appearance of a tourist not exactly hard to spot, he found a mixture of wonder and confusion enter his mind. Wonder, because, ooo, pretty lights. Confusion… Because he was lost. He hadn't been to this part of the city for about a year or two, so, it wasn't his fault he didn't recognise anything. Or know where he was even trying to go for that matter.

So, he stood there, looking around as people walked past – and in some cases into – him. Someone’s gotta be able to give directions right? It was just… Well, who could go up to strangers and ask for directions? So, he stood there. Like an awkward and anxious idiot. Yup. What a way to spend the day.

PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptySat Jun 23, 2018 8:38 pm

"Yeah. ... Yeah! ... YES! I know, right? I so totally know! Daisy is letting the role as a captain get over her head! I mean, I like her but sometimes she's so ruthless, not mindful of others..."

The conversation would go on and on, with Brittany often laughing as she kept the cellphone close to her ear while holding two plastic bags on her elbow (and three more on the other free hand). Shopping for supplies was never easy when you don't have help. Or perhaps it was her own fault for letting certain goods end instead of checking beforehand how long they'd last, therefore arranging her time better in accordance to her needs. If only Bernie (her owl pet) could carry some of the bags for her...

After almost being hit over by a car (twice) and knocking her feet on the ground (which would be one hell of a fall) Brittany would stop by the corner of a street, in front of a crosswalk glancing upwards to check on the semaphores. Geez, they just turned red lights for pedestrian. She sighed. "Huh? Oh no, it's nothing with you, it's just I'm waiting for the lights to turn green here. ... Yeah, I'm listening! You can keep talking, sure!"

Brittany rolled her eyes, a bit and unusually impatient. There were some people on the opposite side of the crosswalk; by her side, only one guy nearby who presumably was also waiting for the lights to turn green as well. She glanced to him briefly before putting her cellphone between her lifted shoulder and her inclined head ("Really? Did she really say that to Daisy? Oh my gosh, I wish I was there to see it!"), in a way she could organize her bags better in a more comfortable way. Sadly, as multifunctional as Brit would like to be, she...wasn't. Therefore, one bag found its way to the ground causing a clunky sound of a metal can hitting another solid enough surface for it to crack open.

"ARGH, DAMMIT! ... No, Terrence, that wasn't to you... I think I just lost part of my dinner tonight", she chuckled, clumsily crouching trying to retrieve the bag in hopes the can wasn't torn, the meal wasn't ruined with its content scattered and the other bags wouldn't pursue the same fate. "What, you ask? Just regular stuff. Like... canned pea... Argh, it wasn't cheap, why does this kind of thing happen to me when I'm just, like, trying to be a good housewife..."

A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptySun Jun 24, 2018 4:27 pm

As he was standing, looking, observing hopelessly for his chance to come about, a loud clatter not far from the boy occurred. One he recognised, if nothing else due to his job picking up rubbish, as the sound of some metal hitting the ground caught his attention - the boy leaping up slightly in surprise and turning, startled at the sudden clatter. Spinning on his heel and nearly falling over while doing so, Tomomi looked to see someone on their phone, awkwardly picking up what looked like a bag. Juggling her phone as she was though, it can't have been super easy to do. So, forgetting how social ethics went, the boy stepped over, grabbing hold of the handle and moving it to where the woman was reaching to speed things along, before very awkwardly backing up as soon as she took it - assuming that she did. This was awkward. Still, it seemed that whatever it was that she'd dropped was costly...

Despite having no reason to do so, the boy quickly dug into his pockets, scrounging around for something while he kept his head to the ground - any quizzical looks or queer glances didn't exist if he didn't see them! After a good few seconds of awkward searching, however, the boy found what he was looking for, taking out some coins from his right most pocket and holding them out to the stranger. "I um... I don't know if this is enough but, I um... I-I'll let you get back to your phone m-miss..." the boy said, holding his hand with the coins out, and preparing to back away the instant they were taken. Yikes he felt awkward and incredibly uncomfortable. Maybe he should have just been a quiet onlooker, it's not like his intervention stopped the item from being damaged. Damn it Tomomi!

PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyWed Jun 27, 2018 5:49 pm

Brittany was giggling at how stupid Terrence could be sometimes. Naturally, that comes with the whole package of being a jock; Terrence wasn't part of a sports team per se, he was her team mate in the cheerleading squad, and yet he just takes the natural dumbness and common sense of jocks to the next level.

"Yeah, of course I like peas! Why not? I'll totally have you know they have good nutritive value and--"
If anything, a hand stretched out to her stopped her brief laughing fit at the expenses of a friend in order to take a better look at who was the one offering her money. A guy. The guy she had seen nearby albeit not paying enough attention to his appearance prior to this moment, thanks to (once again) how not-multifunctional she was.

"Hey, I gotta go now. Imma call you later then. ... Yeah, once I get home, take a shower, prepare my dinner, do the laundry, study a bit, clean the mess my baby has made while I was away. You know, regular adult stuff you wouldn't understand!", she laughed at her own humor attempt. "Yeaaaah, right! ... Of course I don't believe you, you're a child in a man's disguise! You have your momma to do that for you! ... Alright, Terry, alright. Look, I really gotta go, bye bye!"

The devilish chuckles ended as soon as she turned her phone off, returning it to its rightful place: the pockets of her preppy blazer. With that, her attention focused on the one who presumably had been waiting for her to end the friendly chit-chatting: the guy. Admiteddly, Brittany hardly remembered a single word he said to her while she was conversing and gossiping out loud, yet it wasn't hard to deduce it was a gesture of kindness she had not anticipated at all. Awkward perhaps, but the cheerleader appreciated it once she understood he meant well.

"Hey, it's fine! It's, you know, just...pea? Besides, it's not that bad??" Taking a glance inside the bag with the damaged can... only to grimace at how tore it was, the peas spilled through the hole formed in the fall. "Erm... Yeah, it's not that bad! Thank you, really, that's so sweet of you!"

With some degree of difficulty, Brit managed to pick up her feet and stand up, retrieving the bag and organizing everything inside. "Okay, it's all good now! Do you live around here? I kinda have never seen you, and I've been here for some years!"

At the insistence that he didn't need to offer up payment, the boy quickly withdrew his hand. Not knowing what to do for a brief moment, he then returned the money to his hand, adjusting his shoulder clumsily in order to avoid his jacket falling off. "Ah, um, okay, I am, uh... Glad to hear that."

As she posed questions of her own, he looked to her for a brief moment, before returning to his browsing of... Well, literally everything else. People were anxiety raising, even if kind. At least, when you're an anxious wreck they are. "Ah! I... Um, kind of? I'm from Little Tokyo. I decided to... Um... What's the word... Tour? No, um... Look around! That's the word. Yeah, I decided I wanted to look around so that I could, well, I guess know where I live a bit better?"

Quickly waving his hands in front of himself in a gesture that seemed as though he were trying to take back what he was saying. "Oh! But, I'm not like, lost! I'm just... Um..." His voice grew quiet as he spoke. "Lost. Oh! But, um, don't like, waste time on me! You probably have something to get on with, so, um... Yeah! Terribly sorry to have inconvenienced you!"

...yeah, she could easily tell this guy was a foreigner, and a lost one. The embarrassment in his voice was too obvious to hide it and Brittany couldn't help but think it was too endearing to pass. After all, he went out of his way to assist her in her display of usual clumsiness.

"Oh com'on now! You just told me you're lost and don't expect me to assist?", she smirked in a matter-of-fact tone. It was simply her nature to be helpful; besides, he deserves a retribution to his kindness. "I kinda have nothing better to do but...you know, house chores! Do you need some direction, or maybe I should make you company to somewhere else? I still have some time, it is totally nooooo trouble at all! Totally!"

As they spoke, the traffic lights were about to turned green for pedestrians (and consequently, red for the vehicles lining up), and with that Brittany smiled invitingly to the stranger. It didn't seem like he would make a decision on his own, or rather a quick one before they were allowed to cross the street. It was up to her to take the wheels, then. "It's almost our cue! Wanna come? We can talk in the way!"

A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyTue Jul 10, 2018 5:05 pm

As she pointed out that, in a way, there was an expectation for help from the fact that he'd admitted to his situation, his sheepish and embarrassed state continued. But, upon finding out that she had nothing better to do other than chores, he felt significantly less guilty. So, he nodded slightly at the offer.

This agreement was only furthered by the changing of the lights, the nearby cars and such stopping in their tracks. He stopped looking away as he went from looking at anywhere and everywhere, to looking at the lights, and then back to this stranger. At her indication for crossing, however, his indecision was swept away, more caught up in the moment and not wanting to cause inconvenience than actually having made his mind up. "Ah! Right!" He replied, perhaps more energetically than would have made sense to.

"Oh! Um, as for what..." He began, answering her question from before while mid walk across the road. "Um, well, I was just looking for places in general. I don't even... Know what's really here. And I've been in the city for years, which, I guess is... Embarrassing lack of knowledge in its own right?"

Rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, upon reaching the other side of the road, the boy had a sudden realisation. "Oh! Also! My name, um, so you don't just know me as that weird kid who was lost... Um, my name is Tomomi. Although, if that's... You know, difficult, Tomi works fine." He declared, introducing himself with a somewhat nervy smile.

A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyTue Jul 31, 2018 4:02 pm

Alright, she didn't know what kind of name was "Tomomi" but judging from the boy's facial traits and mannerisms, it was clearly foreign as well. At least he introduced a nickname that's fairly easier to spell and pronounce. "Tommy".

"Tommy, the weird kid who's lost? I like it!", she giggled at her attempts to be humorous. "Mine's Brittany. But you can call me Brit just like...uh, 90% of the people I know? Some are lazy enough and think Brittany is a tongue-twister, I wonder why. I mean, it's just three syllables, Brit-ta-ny! Or you can call me B, it works too!"

At this point, Brit was rather used to forming bonds with shy, socially inept acquaintances. Granted, her boyfriend also fit the criteria, so the girl had her fair share of handling people who were awkward in personal interactions. Not that she minded; in a way, the fact they were usually the typical stereotype of loneliness, something she could understand well, makes the girl extend her excessive friendliness to them without much thinking.

"It's alright not knowing everything about here. I too don't know much because, well, it's not like I have too much free time to roam around. But there's subway, you can, like, get to everywhere from anywhere anytime, so that helps speeding up things a bit. This is my neighborhood, Vista Square, been living in here for a while! I like it because it's, like, close to everything, and we also have everything here, so...yeah, it's practical! Basically everything you need without having to go far!"

A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyFri Aug 03, 2018 7:26 pm

Lightly beneath his breath, the boy mimicked the name, or rather, the shorter one, "Brit...", as if helping himself remember it before perking his head up and nodding with a smile. Walking alongside his impromptu tour guide, the boy looked around while listening to her speak. The tall buildings, the screens advertising various products and shows. It was a completely different atmosphere to Little Tokyo, and if Tomomi didn't know better, the two could be mistaken for being entirely different cities.

As she listed off the description of Vista Square as 'everything', the only thought Tomomi had was with regards to how much litter that would inevitably lead to. Which, in turn... Would be his job to deal with if he was ever assigned a job in this part of the city. At least he knew what he would be dragged into like this.

"It's very... Different compared to Little Tokyo, like in terms of how everything is and all of those things. The big displays of shops and technology is definitely different from a place that's all about, um, differences and festivities? Probably? I'll admit, I may live there, but I don't partake in the uhh, festivals. Still, um... Everything is... A lot? I think?"

Coughing, the boy decided to try be a bit more specific. "So, what sort of stuff is unique to the square? Like, Little Tokyo has festivities and festivals, and keeps itself to a Japanese theme... Or, well, tries to... Is there anything defining for this place? I don't mean to sound rude if it comes across wrong, but, it's... Kind of hard to distinguish anything fancy or unique..."

PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptySat Aug 18, 2018 11:34 pm

"Oh, festivals in Little Tokyo? That's so cool! Like, totally! You know, I haven't been there much. How's it there? Next time there's a festival, I wanna come! Heard the festivals are always so bright and cheerful and full of people. Oh, and of course, lots of food! My friend went to it last year, saw the pictures on her Instagram account! She had this big sausage in a stick for a photo, she bought it in one of the food stalls, oh gosh, I was soooo envious you had no idea!"

Tommy probably had the wrong idea to talk about festivals, Brittany's excitement would let go on and on about unless he stopped her before the time, which judging from his shy, easily intimidated personality, isn't likely to happen. As for Tommy's question, Brittany had to silence herself a moment to ponder over it.

"Uh... Let me check, there's the News Studio! Oh, the Theater too, which is kinda nice if you, you know, like theater in first place. I gotta be honest, like, it's been a loooong while since the last time I saw a movie. Actually... now that I think of it, I rarely go to the movies. Somehow the thought of being sit for 1-2 hours static bores me... But I don't have the same problem being sit in front of my computer to play a game. Funny, right? That and most of the time I'm just studying, working, taking care of home and domestic stuff like that. What about you?"

A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyWed Aug 22, 2018 9:47 am

Tomomi nodded and listened as she gave an explanation of what sort of stuff to expect in Vista square, making a mental note and list of the key points. New studio, theater... So, it's like, an entertainment and technology district? Still, he smiled as the Brit person recounted happy moments of their own. She was talking a bit fast for him to understand entirely, but he got something about sausages, and something about computer games?

As she posed a question to Tomomi, asking about what he assumed is what he spends his time doing, at which he scratched at his head in thought for a moment. "Um... Let's see... Uh... Honestly, nothing quite as exciting as being surrounded by festivals would sound. Usually just um, work, study, and a bit more, well, work..." At this, the boy shrugged. Then, rewinding the conversation in his mind to try make sure he hadn't forgotten anything, he paused, and then added. "Oh, as for how the festivals there are... Um... They go on late to the night... I tend to avoid partaking in them, but, well, they're loud, with lots of food stands, drinking, every now and again fireworks, and mostly focuses on the, well, visual splendor? Um... I know that's not the best description but, I often end up clearing up after the festivals, so, I don't know much other than that, and the mess it leaves behind..."

Rubbing at the back of his neck with an awkward chuckle, the boy quickly added once more. "Oh! And uh, thanks again for giving me a tour! It really helps!"

"Well, sounds like a regular festival to me! I'm just a bit iffy about it being late at night. I mean, when it's, like, regular weekdays I wouldn't go because, you know, stuff we gotta do like wake up in the morning to go to school, then work. You know, this kind of stuff. BUT if it were on weekends, I'd totally go!", she said, excited about the possibility. Festivals are always such a fun mesh of colors, smells and people she couldn't help but feel joyful about the idea. Lately she hasn't had much time to appreciate life with all the Terrorist convoluted life aligned to the daily routine, the prospect of finding something out of the ordinary to do was definitely welcome...as long as said something wasn't fighting demons, of course.

"Awww, that's so cute! You don't have to, like, thank me or anything, it's no big deal, really!", she smiled, waving one hand dismissing any attempts at formality. Helping people was just something Brittany felt pleasure in and even if she had things to do at home, naturally the girl wouldn't turn away if there were people with problems she could assist with. "You said you usually end up clearing up. In the festivals, I mean. Do you work at them or something? Is it some kind of volunteer work?"

PostSubject: Re: A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi)   A Tourist At Home (Brittie / Tomomi) EmptyMon Sep 17, 2018 5:14 pm

At Brit's question, Tomomi scratched at his head for a moment. Her imagination was making it sound far more enjoyable or exciting than it actually was. He'd really hate to break her imagination in that matter. But, it would also be awkward if she misinterpreted what he meant. And so, he awkwardly spoke up, voice a tad jittery. "Ah... Um... Well... Kind of? I work as a litter picker, just city wide, but as I live in Little Tokyo, that's the place I'm most assigned. Constant festivals tends to lead to more rubbish on the streets, at which point people get called in to clear up after them. So, um... Yeah, nothing as exciting as volunteering at a festival... But hey, I get paid! And sometimes I get to see the festivals going on? So, um, it's not all bad. It's one of the reasons I came to look around the Vista Square today, is just in case I have to go on a job here at some point. Best to not be lost I guess?"

Laughing, the nervous and awkward boy tried to think up how to best keep up conversation without being an idiot, before adding. "So, yeah, that's my uh... Delightful and exciting work situation? Um, if it's not too personal, mind if I ask what you do for a living? Oh, um, if it's not too personal, you're really welcome to not answer!"

Weeell... If it was even personal, then I’d be in a bad spot because, you know, everybody would see it!”, she said with a matter-of-fact tone blended with her typical good humor.

I work at a model agency. I’m a part-time model there, you know. Posing for outdoors, magazines, companies, starring commercials, fashion catalogs, sometimes being feature in music videos… This kind of stuff. Oh no, I was never, you know, featured in a music video before! That is kinda something way too big for me, but I’ve joined a campaign for cosmetics! You know the seven sins perfume? Yeah, that’s the one in case you’re wondering!

Though not so sure if Tomomi would recognize her, the best way was to refer to her most successful feature up to now – the rather embarrassing and controversial take of her posing entirely naked with a white snake around her body, advertising for a small flask of perfume with the alluring and suggestive shape of an apple. The photoshoots of said campaign were everywhere, from outdoors to magazine covers.

Tomomi couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the concept of Brittie's job being something that couldn't be a personal matter, but as she described it, the surprised eyebrow turned into a generally surprised and impressed expression, Tomomi nodding in interest as he listened to her description. He was prepared to be really surprised at the music videos, although let out an exhale when realising she wasn't THAT famous, at least yet. Yet then he gasped audibly in surprise at the mention of the Seven Sins perfume.

"W-wait! That's you? I use that brand! The apple and strawberry scented is my favourite, I had no idea! T-that's really impressive, and you're so um, brave, for doing that! Seriously!" He declared with a wide grin, clapping out of sheer innocent joy before giving two thumbs up. "Awesome!"
