How to Stat Your Character [Endymion Guide] 1*zKjLL5f7tFlG2WBEc7AGfA

So this has come up a lot with the recent players that we've had join: what do I do with my stats? It can be a bit daunting to get a handle of the system at first but with a little experience and hopefully with the help of this guide you'll be fighting demons/arresting terrorists/freeing the city like a pro in no time. Since this is for beginners I won't be diving into things like Prime and Ultimate Personas, this is just to help you get started. This is a condensed guide so you don't have to crawl through the Battle Rules to look for all this stuff, so let's start with the basics. For the benefit of anyone reading this, if I have something in red text it's a clickable link.

Before you start you're going to need to make a Compendium. Your Compendium is pretty much your Character Sheet, it'll be what tracks how much money you earn, what skills you have, and your progress through the game. Most importantly for this guide, it will track your stat allocation. Your Compendium can look however you want as long as it tracks all the important information, so feel free to let out your creative side! Remember to note down all of your changes to your inventory, VC, Exp, stats, things like that. If you don't understand, ask a staff member or look at the other Compendiums to get a good example.

Starting Stats

So now on to the stats. From the start your basic stat allocation will look like this:

Level: 1
Exp: 0 / 80

HP: 50 / 50
SP: 30 / 30
PEnd: 0%
MEnd: 0%
Ppstr: 6
Pmstr: 10
Dx: 3
Lk: 2

Code:
[b]Level:[/b] 1
[b]Exp:[/b] 0 / 80

[b]HP:[/b] 50 / 50
[b]SP:[/b] 30 / 30
[b]PEnd:[/b] 0%
[b]MEnd:[/b] 0%
[b]Ppstr:[/b] 6
[b]Pmstr:[/b] 10
[b]Dx:[/b] 3
[b]Lk:[/b] 2

That's a basic Level 1 character of any class who has not yet been Awakened yet. Unimpressive but luckily you won't stay that way for long. Each class has a number of stat points they will earn whenever they unlock a new skill. You will begin with 3 skills unlocked on your skill set. You WILL NOT get the number of skill points you earn by unlocking new skills to all stats, but you WILL get the amount of free points you can spend on any stat based on your class for the first 3 skill ranks. You can spend your points in any stat except for PEnd or MEnd, which are calculated differently.

So if you Awaken as a Persona User you will have your first 3 skills unlocked with 6 points per skill rank, giving you 18 points to spend anywhere you want. And that's just on Awakening.

Other classes will work the same way, so Nyarlathoep Children, Rogues, Forgotten, Shadow Selves, and Velvet Attendants will all gain a total of 12 points per skill, so they will start with 36 points they can spend anywhere they like when they Awaken.

Leveling Up

As you fight in battles you will defeat enemies and gain Exp, which will level up your character. You will find the amount of Exp you need to earn to reach the next level here. Whenever you gain enough Exp to level up any left over Exp will carry over to the next level. Remember, the number next to the level is the Exp needed to gain the next level. So if you're Level 1 you need 80 Exp to reach Level 2, if you're Level 2 you need 240 Exp to reach Level 3 and so on.

When you Level Up, you will get 10 points to HP, 10 points to SP, and 5 points to spend wherever you want except PEnd or MEnd.

Unlocking New Skill Ranks

Each class has different requirements for gaining their next skill but when you DO unlock that next skill you get a pretty hefty stat boost.

For Persona Users when you unlock your Rank 4 skill and beyond you will earn 6 points in all of your stats (except PEnd and MEnd) and an extra 6 points to place wherever you want (except PEnd and MEnd).

For Nyarlathoep Children, Rogues, Forgotten, Shadow Selves, and Velvet Attendants when you unlock your Rank 4 skill and beyond you will earn 12 points in all of your stats (except PEnd and MEnd) and an extra 12 points to place wherever you want (except PEnd and MEnd).

These points that you earn in all stats include your HP and SP, and all classes that unlock their next skill will get 15 points in HP and SP on top of the points they already get.

So realistically, Persona Users will get 21 points in HP and SP, 6 points in all other stats and 6 points to spend freely. The other classes listed will get 27 points in HP and SP, 12 points in all other stats and 12 points to spend freely. If you can remember that it'll cut down on a little math.

PEnd and MEnd

So PEnd and MEnd is your damage reduction against physical attacks and magical attacks respectively. Your total PEnd value will be the points you've added to HP divided by 12, round down to a whole number and then multiply that by 2. This is only the points you've added, not your total HP, so you will not factor in the first 50 HP you've started with when calculating PEnd. It will look like this:

HP - 50 = X, X/12 = Y (round down), Y x 2 = PEnd

MEnd is the same, only with your SP instead of your HP. So a similar equation:

SP - 30 = X, X/12 = Y (round down), Y x 2 = MEnd

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that's all there is to it! Just remember it's always better to ask than to assume, if you are confused or overwhelmed by the stat system even after reading this guide, ask a staff member! They can help you figure out how to do the math or even do some of the hard stuff for you if you really need it.
How to Stat Your Character [Endymion Guide] Persona-5-GIF-4
The plot's progressed a little bit and new players aren't starting at Level 1 anymore, so we'll go over that as well. When you start a new character you will now start at Level 7 with your Rank 4 skill unlocked. What does this mean for character creation? Not much, you'll just do a little more math at the start. So I'll take the time to explain and do some of the math for you.
From being Level 7 you will have an additional 60 HP, 60 SP, and 30 points to spend in your stats wherever you like. It is NOT anymore than that. I've seen veteran players make this mistake, you're moving from Level 1 to Level 7, you level up 6 times. 1 + 6 = 7, super simple stuff.
Now for what your Skill Rank means: For unlocking your Rank 4 skill you will get the points your class provides into all stats in addition to the extra HP/SP, unlike the first 3 skills you started with.
So this is a bit to take in but we're cool people, so the math is already done for you guys below.
I'm starting as a Persona User or Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon with an Initial Persona...:
I'm starting as a Nyarlathoep Child or an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon with a Tainted Persona, Forgotten, Rogue, Shadow Self, or Velvet Attendant...:
So this is how your character will be statted when they Awaken, these base numbers with the amount of points you get to throw into any stat of your choosing. Remember that PEnd and MEnd are calculated separately, so if you add any points to HP or SP be sure to calculate those values again just in case you get more defense out of it.
I hope this guide helps you on your journey. Good luck! You're gonna need it to survive the Demons that see you as little more than an appetizer. Have fun in Endymion!
