Who want's burgers eh? (Mae and Traeh)

"Mae... I helped to save the world... I think I can brag about it for once... Heh... Though yeah yeah it's not about the bragging rights it's about saving lives... but for once I'd like to gloat ya know heh..." Jack was totally in the right... Right? Every hero should have a chance to be a bit of a pompous asshat every now and again and he was no different. He just got done fighting a god... That warrants a bit of an ego doesn't it?

Though... Jack's smile would soon die as Mae asked her question. "Hyde... he... He saved us all. Every man woman and child in this world owes their lives to him, and no one will ever know." Jack stood at the curb and waited for the ambulance to arrive, ready to support Mae if the news proved to much for her. "Traeh... Hyde was me and Mae's friend. I didn't know it until recently but... he was the strongest of us all. He was so powerful he destroyed The Father in one fell swoop... Ending this god awful war once and for all. But... It... It cost him.... he traded his life for all of ours." Jack refused to cry this time. Hyde wouldn't want him to. Enough tears were shed for the Red Robin, now we all had to enjoy the lives that he saved, and carry him on in every heart that walks towards the new dawn that he created.

"Pff... You weren't alone though." Mae chuckled. "I'm glad you made it out alive though... So, thanks for saving the world, Jack." The girl scratched her neck awkwardly. It felt... odd saying it, but that didn't make it less true. He had not only saved her life, but the countless lives of others. It really was a shame no one would ever know of the heroic deeds this young man had done to save the world...


Mae stared emptily at Jack... She couldn't... she refused to believe that Hyde was dead! He just couldn't be! NO WAY! "Jack... Please tell me you're lying...? Please... I can't..." She was in complete and utter shock of hearing this. Hyde, the happiest person she had ever known had sacrificed himself so that they could live? She didn't really know him all that well, which made all this that much more painful to her... She regretted not hanging out with him more often... To get to know him better. Mae curled up into a ball, sobbing quietly at the loss of her friend. The ambulance arrived shortly afterward, with people rushing out to help Jack... To Mae, all that was just a blur. "W-Why Hyde...? Why did you have to leave us...?"

Traeh patted Jack on the back. "Don't worry about it Jack. Every hero deserves to push up their ego every once and a while." Traeh looked over at Mae before looking back to Jack and smiling timidly. "And yeah, thank for like... Saving the world and our lives. Everyone's lives." It was so bizarre that most people, like herself until she heard from Mae and Jack, would have no clue as to what was actually going on the past few months and the risks some people put themselves up to in order to save everyone... It was a shame really, Jack must feel it to be annoying so she didn't mind if he wanted to gloat to the people he could tell about it.

Traeh then fell quiet. She stared down at the ground, feeling uneasy as the two talked about this friend of theirs... She didn't really have anything to say about the topic and didn't want to try in case it came across as being rude. Yet she'd look up at the sound of the ambulance rushing over in their direction. "H-hey guys, sorry to butt in but our rides here..." Once Jack had people helping him to the ambulance, Traeh would bend down next to Mae to try to comfort her.

As the ambulance approached Jack felt Mae give out under the weight of the news he just dropped on her... he didn't blame her... not one bit. He himself felt this way not to long ago... Slowly he would kneel down and take Mae into his arms. It was a gentle hug... soft and cradling. He pulled her close and let her cry into his shoulder. "Mae... Hyde, he... He gave us a chance... He saved us all. He told me that he-he did what he had to... To make sure this stupid war ended once and for all. Don't cry Mae... He-he wouldn't want you to cry..." Jack felt tears prick at his eyes once more. Unable to hold them back, he let them fall and mix with Mae's "I'm sure that he's happy where he is... with what he's done for us all. Mae... he would want us to live and be happy, and I promise you, I will do everything I can to make sure that this world stays happy... just like he wanted it."

Jack felt a man pull him off Mae... Slowly he let himself be loaded into the back of the Ambulance. he gave one last look to Traeh before the doors closed and flashed a brilliant tear stained smile "Once I get out of the hospital... Hows about we all hit that burger place up eh?... I'm buying!... Take care of her Traeh... I'll be back soon.."

With that the doors closed and the ambulance began to drive away... With a sigh Jack looked to the sky outside the window of the van. "You made Mae cry you asshole... I'm gunna kick your ass for that next time I see you... heh... You got a lot of beatings coming for leaving us Hyde." Jack smiled and leaned back in his gurney. "Heh... My hand hurts..."

As Jack pulled Mae in for a hug with his one good arm, she just let it all out in one go. "Why?! Hyde!? Why did you have to leave us?! It... It's not fair!" It was really hard to tell what she was saying behind the sniffles, and her voice was already muffled enough as is with her face leaning on Jack's shoulder. The two sat there for a while, Mae listening to what Jack had to say... He really was a good friend, huh...? "Thank you... Jack." She said, wiping her tears with her sleeve, as her friend was being pulled away. "T-Take care... Alright...? D-Don't hesitate to call the nurse if you need it!"

Oh Hyde... He had left their lives, just like that. Not even a chance for her to say goodbye... She would sit there with Traeh for a good long while, thinking back on her time with Hyde. She felt a bit guilty for not getting to know him better... "He was a great guy... Hyde, that is... I know, you never met him, and it really is a shame you never did. He really was a friend you could depend on, no matter what. He would always stand by your side." She looked off in the distance, the gentle breeze toying with her hair lightly. "I Miss you already... Hyde Mizumi. We all do..."
