| Emmilene smiled when he summoned his Persona, not making the move to step down from the challenge. She was impressed by his eagerness to get stronger. As she watched his Persona leap into action to attack her, she did not make any attempt to avoid it, and merely took the attack, stiffening herself at the sharpness of the Persona’s nails. “Everyone deserves their first shot. They need confidence, just like you. Now, let’s begin.” At the end of her words, she began to run to him, clearing the distance between Julian and her. Her running was fairly average in speed and did not make any deviations from her movement; she just ran straight to him. However, when Julian and her were roughly ten feet apart, her Persona, who would be following her, flicked her staff, and a ball of red flame appeared on her right hand which did not seem to hurt her in the slightest, and instead seemed to rest in her palm while excess flames ran through the gaps of her fingers and down her wrist as though it was meant to be there. For the last ten feet, Emmilene would attempt to hit him by sending her arm forward and slamming the small ball of flame into his chest. If he made any sidestep in front of her and remained within her vicinity, she would turn her hand to follow his direction and push her small burst of flame into him. Whether the attack was successful or not, the ball of flame would vanish from her hand, and her Persona would remain behind her.- Damage Taken:

| Julian hadn't expected to hit her at all. He thought she'd brush aside Jak's attack or do something to demonstrate what a persona could do. Imagine his surprise when all Emmilene did was stand still and take it without so much as a grimace. Damn, she was tougher than she looked. Those words of hers were usually a cue that there was something to be wary of. Turns out he was right. The moment she started moving, Julian tensed, watching her closely for any hint as to what she was about to do. He wasn't kept guessing for very long, though. Although surprised at her choice of attack--damn, could all persona-users do that?--he stepped back and around with his front foot, turning to the side before taking a few more steps backwards and out of her reach should she try to follow his movements with her hand. As he did this, Jak would dart forwards, jumping cleanly over his owner's head before closing in and attempting to swipe at Emmilene once more. Regardless if he was successful, the persona would fade away with a soft laugh before reappearing on his haunches just behind Julian. "It's been a while since I've engaged in such fun." - Stats:

| As Julian maneuvered behind Emmilene, she would assume his Persona would be attacking as he did this. Had her Persona not been near her by the end of her previous attack, it would have been successful. Though, her Persona Maut was now there, watching her like a hawk. As Jak came for Emmilene with his swipes, Maut herself would take the other sharpened end of her staff and for both hands that went for Emmilene, she herself would jab at both of them once, cancelling out the attack. Emmilene immediately turned around during the battle and ran back a couple meters from Julian, her eyes on him and her Persona in front of Emmilene just above her figure. “Good. You almost got me there,” Emmilene said with an impressed smirk. She probably could’ve continued an assault with her soulbound weapon, but she was more interested to see if Julian could think of something even smarter to catch her off guard, now that they were almost the same distance they were before (around six feet).- Skill Used:

| Well that didn't work. That might've been a little too forward, but still, it was a shame. At least Jak didn't seem too worried about it. Julian almost wanted to snap at the...demon?...that this was not fun, especially when there was fire and magical things involved. Fights were really different when you had to deal with magic instead of just plain old fists. But Emmilene's little comment shifted his mentality. A wry little smirk curled one side of his mouth upwards. So far, he'd been more or less testing the waters, just trying to get a feel for how all of this really worked. Now his curiosity was roused. If he put in a little more effort, what was he capable of? Flipping the knife in his hands to a forward grip, he said, "Well, at least you know I don't half-ass things." Julian was barely done with his last word before he rushed forward and closed the distance between him and his opponent, his persona mostly hidden behind him but still trailing behind. Raising his arm, he'd try and slash at Emmilene's torso with his knife // Shallow cuts, keep them shallow, I'm not trying to kill her- // twice. While he did this, Jak would duck down, completely hidden behind Julian, and raise his hand to his face before breathing softly across his palm. The breath would look more like dark grey, nearly black fog as it slithered across the floor and towards Maut. Should the persona not take notice of it, the fog would eventually condense underneath her before spiraling upwards in a dark cloud, constricting around her before dissipating in the air. Regardless of whether of not his assault was successful, Julian would take a few steps back to put a few feet of distance between Emmilene and himself, raising his arms back into a defensive position and watching the girl warily. - Stats:

| As Julian made his assault onto Emmilene, she could see there was a sudden seriousness in his eyes, or at least he was suddenly fighting a lot harder. This meant Emmilene had to fight harder herself now. Emmilene could hardly see the mist as Julian would be running along toward her, obstructing the view, so it would be all too late before the Mudo skill would hit Maut, causing Emmilene to merely twitch her light ever so slightly in mild shock. She let him have that one, but would keep focused on Julian when he raised his knife. As he swung down towards her stomach, she would sidestep to his right remaining within his reach yet out of harm’s way before his next strike. Using her hands, she would push her palms out and place her hands on his forearm and upper arm respectively as he went for the followup swipe and squeeze her hands on his arm, stalling his second attack. Despite her young appearance, she seemed to have the strength to resist him. It was not catastrophically different their two physical statures, but it was enough to hold his momentum for a brief moment on the second strike. Being a leader and strategist, she certainly has had to deal with close quarters combat at some point. Meanwhile, as she held him, her Persona still in the same position she was, only now behind him, would shoot another fireball the size of a small beachball to him. Since they were now incredibly close, her Persona not far from her at all, the distance would be short to cover, and Julian would have little reaction time. Emmilene would need to only hold his arm for a second until after the fireball was shot, in which Emmilene would let go and quickly jump back a few feet assuming the entire attack went well. Her Persona would vanish from view back into her subconscious in the meantime, revealing Jak’s position fully in Emilene’s eyes. "Going to keep going?" she asked.- Damage Taken:

| Getting in close had been a good way to distract Emmilene's attention from her persona, but the downside to Julian's spur of the moment plan was practically shoved in his face the second she dodged his first strike. When she grabbed his arm and held it, he knew he needed to get away from her quickly. Emmilene herself wouldn't be attacking any time soon, but her persona- The teen hadn't freed much more than his wrist when he felt a weight behind him. Wincing at the anticipated pain, he froze for a split second, waiting to see what exactly was about to crash into him. The butt of Maut's staff? Another fireball? Something he hadn't seen yet? The possibilities were practically endless. After another second passed, the woman in front of him suddenly relinquished her hold on his arm. Almost as a reflex, he took a step back, turning his head to check for whatever it was he'd felt. All Julian saw was a wisp of smoke and fog melting into the air and his persona still crouched on the floor, giving another twitchy, curious smile in response to the mild confusion on his owner's face. Well, whatever it was hadn't hit him, so that was good enough. Shuffling back a few steps to stand just in front of Jak, Julian smiled lightly at Emmilene's question. "I think I can take a little more." Despite the earlier near burning and the scare he'd just had, he couldn't help but admit he wasn't feeling too bad. He hadn't actually taken any real damage either. If anyone should be calling it quits, it should be Emmilene. "I didn't hit you too hard, did I?" The dark-haired boy's brow creased in concern. Jak didn't seem to be worrying about Emmilene's safety whenever he clawed at her. It was possible Julian's persona had done some notable damage; in that case, she might just decide to put an end to this training. If Emmilene decided to call off the sparring session, he'd agree with a short nod of his head before relaxing and willing away both his weapon and persona. If she decided to keep the match going, the teen would give her one last, searching look before shifting into a defensive stance, watching the girl so as to anticipate her next move. Jak would also stay on the field, resting a loosely curled fist on his chin as he studied the two with the lingering trace of a smirk. - Stats:

| “I’d continue to worry about what would happen to you. This is merely practice for me. Would you like a break?” Emmilene said rather confidently, smiling despite herself. Running straight towards Julian and summoning her Persona to follow her, she would pull a hand back and simply attempt to punch him in the chest, which would only perhaps push him back a few feet if it connected. Regardless, during the assault, her Persona Maut would be firing a single projectile the side of an arm and the shape of a needle towards his Persona who was far away with him. Maut would then turn to Julian and fire her second projectile in his direction in his torso area whether he had chosen to jump away or simply take the hit. Maut was closer to Julian, so he had even less time, but the first attack was meant to keep Jak at bay, or risk getting his Persona hit. After the attack, Maut would continue to tail her as she jumped backwards a few feet from Julian to create some distance. It was not as large as before, but it was indeed something.- Skill Used and Damage:

| A smile ghosted across the teen's face. Emmilene sure didn't lack confidence. Which was a good thing, of course; if she didn't have any faith in herself, leading an army would be pretty difficult, right? It also made Julian feel a bit more comfortable with the idea of testing his abilities, although he knew he'd have to be careful not to do too much damage. As the girl moved forwards, Julian tensed, anticipating some kind of attack. He wasn't disappointed; as the punch came at him, he shifted to the side, evading her strike, while his empty hand, now curled into a fist, lashed out at Emmilene's solar plexus. He didn't use full force, of course, but just enough to where Emmilene should be winded for a second or two. In the meantime, Jak leapt forwards and batted at the needle-like projectiles, sending them away from both himself and his owner. The persona would land quietly before fading from view and reappearing behind Julian, who took the opportunity to move about five or six feet away from Emmilene, putting some decent distance between the two as he shifted back to a defensive stance. - Stats:

| She took a moment after her attack again failed, and fell back into a roll before recovering after being hit by his punch. She must have not been acting quick enough, cause there was little to no chance of him avoiding the attack in hr own judgement. But he is indeed for his first time, smarter than he looks. Waving her hand, Maut would vanish, and she would smirk lightly. "You certainly impressed me for your first fight Julian. Or are you lying and you have fought before?" Emmilene said, interested to know. She did not attempt to fight, and instead called it off, unless Julian wished to continue. | |

| The second Maut disappeared, Julian raised a brow, trying to figure out what she was going to do next. Was this some kind of trick? ...Nope. She was actually calling the fight off. Following her lead, the teen focused on his weapon, watching the metal as it appeared to melt and condense before vanishing altogether. Jak watched him for a moment before rising to his full height and dusting off his tattered vest. Afterwards he placed a hand on his chest as he bowed lightly to the two, twitching his lips in an attempt to smile kindly as he faded from sight.
Was he...supposed to feel like there was something in his head? It didn't exactly hurt, but it was a little weird. Julian placed a few fingers on his temple for a moment, willing away the odd feeling before focusing on Emmilene with a light smile. "A couple of schoolyard and street fights, yeah. Nothing like what just happened, though." He chuckled lightly. "Using magic was definitely a first."

| “I can tell. There is something I noticed you lack,” she said, taking a few steps towards him. “Do you have any idea what to do next after training with me? I know you say you’ve hit a roadblock on the beginning of your journey, but are you certain there is nothing you can do?” she asked. She was more intrigued and perhaps prying and poking into Julian’s head, wondering how he felt about the ordeal. Both times he came back to see her, he came up with nothing. Was he expecting help from her? Or was it merely as guidance? | |

| ...And here he thought he'd been doing a relatively decent job at this whole fighting thing. "And what might that be?" Constructive criticism was always nice, especially when it came to something that could affect his health and general well-being later.
"Blue doors." The words tumbled out before he could form a coherent thought. The second he realized what he said, he coughed lightly and looked away. Geez, he sounded like a kid trying to blurt out the right answer in class. Not exactly what he'd been going for. After a second, Julian looked back at Emmilene, his face the perfect picture of calm. "Ahem...The, uh, Velvet Room will probably be my next stop. Depending on what I learn there, I might get a new lead or find another place to look into." If these "helpful people" could offer some information, great. If not, he might just have to poke around at some of the other places he'd considered last resorts. Either way, she was right; he could do something, and although he'd been looking constantly for some kind of clue these past few weeks, finding nothing was the same as not looking at all. He needed to kick it into gear and expand his thoughts a little. After all, if parallel worlds and magic were real, why was he limiting himself to mundane tactics and resources?

| “Your fighting is indeed good for a beginner. You think quickly and fight just as quickly. However, outside, you lack true strategy with your Persona. I was hoping you’d hit me more than once even as your first battle. In combat like this, keep your Persona nearby, or at a place you need them to be. Then again, it is understandable since this room has nothing in it. Perhaps next time we train again we will go to a place with obstacles. Sound fair?” she asked with a proud smile, in satisfaction of his overall performance. “As for what you plan to do next, the Velvet Room is always a good start. However, you must pay heed to what is around you. The Velvet Room can assist you, but unfortunately they will not solve this mystery for you. Perhaps acquire a team, outside of what you can bring to me, or even a team you can bring to me to help. Do you lack trust in other people Julian Remming? Cause right now it strikes me that you could be doing this all on your own, and I wish to know why,” Emmilene said, dropping her smile and obtaining a look of slight confusion yet her certain eyes always seemed straight and decisive as they looked towards Julian. It was merely a guess to if he went on his own, but she simply made some various deductions in her head about his actions both in and out of the battlefield. She was more interested in learning more about his methods behind investigation at this point rather than the results. | |

| Ah, strategy. She had a point about that. Fast thinking and quick reflexes could only get him so far; sooner or later, a plan of attack would be crucial to winning any kind of fight. A bright smile lit up his face at Emmilene's suggestion as he bobbed his head once. "Sounds good." Aha, next training, huh? That might be fun. ...Well, if he could learn to use his abilities intelligently next time, at least.
As Emmilene continued talking, the smile gradually faded from his face until, by the end of her talk, he was frowning lightly. Honestly, he was confused. Why shouldn't he be wary and, as bad as it sounds, mistrustful? There were lots of things he didn't fully understand about all of this, like why those portals appeared in the first place and the odd goings-on in Azores. It was like playing a game he didn't know all the ins and outs of, and that made him wary. What made her think he'd been possibly working with anyone? "...I guess you could say I don't trust people so easily," he began slowly, "especially when it concerns, well, y'know, the possible future of my home and all. This place too." The teen shoved his hands in his pockets, glancing around the room for a moment. "I'm wary when it comes to telling people anything about this place. Even if they believe me--which I'm not sure anyone really will, since I can't exactly prove anything--the last thing I want is to bring someone into this that I don't know and have them screw up something here. I don't know what they'd screw up exactly, but if there's a chance they'd make trouble for you or anyone on this side, I'd rather not risk it."

| She nodded, pretty much what she expected. Naturally he must not be so willing to tell just anyone about the obviously odd parallel worlds, and of course no one normal would believe him. “Perhaps you should attempt to get involved with others. You may run into something. Make more friends and work on your side then. It can certainly benefit you to relax about the ordeal for the moment and learn more about it by asking around, even if it is not from a reliable source. An example would be if you were to explore other worlds. If they are not as hostile, that could be a good place to go, on the other hand, you could indeed just go to the Velvet Room and hope you find another Persona-User. That would certainly get you started, and perhaps give you someone you could trust. Ad that is merely the first few ideas; There are plenty of options.” Emmilene explained. Walking towards Julian, she placed a hand on his right shoulder and looked dead into his eyes, as if she could see within him, and meant to burn her next message into his very soul. “Do not give in to discouragement and lack of information. Cause the information is already within here,” she said, pulling her hand back and with it and her other hand, pointed to both her head and heart. She really did act like a mother, and even she realized how silly her words were, despite their sincere intention to lift Julian’s spirits, cause she even let out a childish smile. Whether Julian reacted well or not, Emmilene would brush hair from her face. “It seems to help when I find people alone and untrusting like you. If that didn’t help, then know you always have someone waiting for you to figure this out, if not the one who appointed you.” Her face was more sure, as though her hope was not over the top or blinded, but she worried little over Julian. The man surely knew what he could do, and get further in his journey. | |
