| The Forgotten use Magatama to upgrade their Shadow/Demon Weapon, much like the Demi-Fiend protagonist of Nocturne. These Magatama are living bug-like creatures that can be created like Homunculi in the Cathedral of Shadows (same place where Demon Summoners fuse their Demons) out of Demon Parts and Tarot Cards, but can also be found as preset rewards for dungeons or missions.
Magatama are powerful, each having up from 3 to 10 skills that they bestow directly onto the Forgotten's skillset when ranked up, having no ability to use those skills themselves, while also granting them a substantial static stat bonus and affecting their elemental affinities.
Each Magatama will have unique affinities for each element that affect how much damage it takes from being hit by that element. The percentage is how much the damage is reduced by, for example:
Fire: 20% Wind: 40% Ice: -20% Electricity: 10% Nuclear: 20% Psychokinesis: 15% Slash: 50% Strike: 50% Pierce: -100% Almighty Magical: 0% Almighty Physical: 0% Light: 10% Dark: 10%
In these cases, when hit by any element with a negative damage modifier, that hit will count as a weakness and down the Forgotten. However, Light and Dark not only affects the damage that Kouga and Eiga type skills do, but also the instakill chance of Hama and Mudo skills, such that a 20% chance of death in the above case would be reduced to 10%, to a minimum of 0% or complete immunity.
These Magatama affinities can go as high up as 100% or Blocking the element, with higher values being representative of Repelling (200%) and Absorbing it (300%)
Magatama also have the ability to modify the Forgotten's Last Life with a set of buffs and debuffs that activate automatically upon entering the form. These positive and negative effects must be balanced according to how many Points they're worth, with the same type of buff and debuff (like 30% increase and decrease to Attack) cancelling out for no change to Last Life.
Positive effects:
30% Attack increase for 3 turns (1 Point) 30% Defense increase for 3 turns (1 Point) 30% Hit/Evasion increase for 3 turns (1 Point) 50% HP heal immediately (1 Point) 50% SP heal immediately (2 Points)
Negative Effects:
30% Attack decrease for 3 turns (-1 Point) 30% Defense decrease for 3 turns (-1 Point) 30% Hit/Evasion decrease for 3 turns (-1 Point) Poison effect for 3 turns (-1 Point) Fear effect for 3 turns (-3 Points)
Once Forgotten reach Level 50 and are able to craft Tier 6 Magatama, the following effects are added:
Positive:
30% Attack/Defense/Hit/Evasion increase for 3 turns (3 Points) Fully heal HP and SP immediately (5 Points)
Negative:
30% Attack/Defense/Hit/Evasion decrease for 3 turns (-3 Points)
Once Forgotten reach Level 80 and are able to craft Tier 9 Magatama the following effects are added:
Positive:
30% Attack/Defense/Hit/Evasion increase to the party for 3 turns (6 Points) Fully heal HP and SP to the party immediately (10 Points)
Negative:
Reduces everyone in the party to 1 HP (-6 Points)

| Notes: Magatama are not meant to be fused, instead returned to be turned into an Equipable Item at the Cathedral of Shadows;
Magatama have Arcana and enjoy Arcana bonuses like Personas, with the affinity still mattering for the Forgotten's Arcana;
Some Magatama may have special passives that make certain mutation effects more likely than others, or add brand new ones unique to that Magatama, but the above list is universal for all of them.

| ThanosToday at 6:04 PM Tier 1-4 Magatama can't go above 50% in any and can't mess with Almighty at all Tier 5-7 Magatama can only go to 200% and can only go up to 25% on Almighty, but it costs the same as going to 300% on anything else Tier 8-9 Magatama still can only go up to 200%, but can bump Almighty to 50%, costing the same as a 600% (or three 200%s) and Tier 10 Magatama can go up to 300% and bump Almighty to 100%, but doing the latter makes it so every other element has to be -100% and Almighty goes up to 50%.
bumping Almighty from 50% to 100% is way costlier than bumping it up from 0% to 50%
ThanosToday at 6:06 PM negative numbers also don't cost the same as positive numbers -100% costs the same as +50% and you can't go beyond -100% on something Magatama affinities also (generally, the example I gave was like random so it didn't have this yet) have to come out to a certain number or below, like a Tier 6 Magatama might have an upper margin of +100% over the entirety of its affinities
