| This is a little tale from the past. A little slip of paper, alongside bundles of money were tucked under some clothes in a drawer. Carefully, it was shut, and the door to the room was opened, only enough to peek out to the foyer downstairs. It would seem his parents got into an arguement again, though not with themselves. The strangers slammed the door shut on their way out. It didn't matter how angry the strangers or his parents got, as long as no one found out who took what neither of them deserved. They were so intent on believing one tried ripping the other off, that they were blind to any other possibility. It was surprisingly easy. Whenever the deliveries for his parents were made, he'd swipe some off the top for himself. If they were going to make so much money off absolutely vile things, it was only right he'd take some away. It was a shame he couldn't just grab all of it, though. Anyways, it was absurd to think you could do such things without your own offspring taking notice. Equally so to assume no one would notice his actions as well. Perhaps it was the case being completely empty that was enough of a hint to drop against the snow covered ground immediately. His quick thinking definitely saved his life, as he was only left with a single light grazing. Remembering he was next to a river, the boy ran and vaulted the railing, crashing through the thin sheet of ice. He was certain he'd contract hypothermia long before running out of breath, but remained underwater next to the hole he made for as long as humanly possible. Gasping for air, he climbed out, and ran for home, or at least, the general direction. There was a small building that always had one old man still in it at this hour. "Church doors open inward." This was the phrase that guided his decision! Not stopping to knock, he pushed open the thankfully unlocked door and removed his soaking coat. That old man came stepping downstairs at the sound, before returning back up, then down again with dry clothes. "Goodness! What on Earth has happened to you?" For a few moments, the boy sat in silence, mentally going over everything that had happened. He wouldn't ever discuss it with anyone else, but that priest deserved to know. He certainly wouldn't tell anyone, so he wouldn't have to worry about that. Today... ...A young man opened his eyes. The sight of an extremely packed yet well-organised dorm room came into view. On his bedside stand, it seemed his phone had received a message from a friend. "Hey, Yuri. Since we don't have school today, wanna go somewhere together?" | |
