| It had to be said, there were some unparalleled sights in the slums. Not like the natural beauty of the biodomes or the unique design sense of Top Ward, but the nature of how the slums related to the jumps made for views that you'd never see anywhere else. Hell, that you might not even see in the slums any more after a couple of jumps. Outside the small selection of places where things were remotely in order, buildings and structures of all different functions and styles mashed together in strange arrangements impossible anywhere else. Sculpted palaces of smoothest marble, meshed with pre-fabbed houses made from geometric shapes. It was entirely unique within the space that was Junction. Most importantly...these places didn't get a lot of attention. It made them a great place to be if you wanted some privacy.
Up on the fire escape of a tilted building, Dale sat alongside Chip, with his sketchpad, surveying the sights. The whole thing looked hard to draw properly...but he had to try if he wanted to draw better.

| Tiny Tin Had been wandering about the slums doing his normal repairs and checks on things, thankfully nothing seemed to need immediate attention in the area other then one building that was a major collapse hazard, thankfully all evidence pointed to the building being abandoned so that meant there were no lives in danger inside, but that didn't mean he was about to let it simply stay the way it was. It would be far safer for everyone if he remedied the issue with the building and set it right so that it wouldn't fall, a task that would take considerable time, however the outskirts of the slums could wait as very few people went out that far, instead fixing this building in the more populated inner area of the slums was a better Idea.
As he walked to the building he scanned it to make sure there were no new occupants since his last check on the area, after a thorough check he concluded that there wasn't anyone inside. However as he was about to start working his scanners did pick up something on the outside, suspended several meters above the ground, looking up Tiny Tin would notice a person standing on the fire escape.
With a sudden burst of energy the jets on his back ignited and the little robot took to the air, flying up towards the man and after checking the structural integrity of the fire escape with his scanners the little robot landed next to the man, being careful that his get wash didn't disturb him, "Greetings citizen...this unit inquires as your reason for being in such a dangerous location, this building has suffered a major defect to it's structural integrity. This Unit was about to begin restoration operations on this structure. Is citizen in need of assistance?" he asked looking up at the taller person.

| The sound of the jets catches Dale's attention, and his drawing halts as he stands and grabs Chip, giving a panicked look in the direction of the sound...and then, at the small metal being that had landed with him up on the fire escape. A...'robot', he thought the word was? Didn't look like an 'android', and the shape seemed wrong for a 'cyborg'...then again, all a cyborg needed was a brain, and couldn't they fit one in there...? ...he'd have to find out more. Go with robot for now. The robot didn't look like any that he'd seen before now, and it talked more like a couple of the AIs he'd met before. Maybe it was like them but...moving? Hmm.
He didn't understand most of what it was saying, but it sounded like it thought this place was dangerous. He didn't see how. It wasn't flat the way buildings everywhere else were, but nothing was broken...he'd seen enough buildings like that to know. "I...don't know most of what you're saying, but this place is fine." He picks up his sketchpad again, and points over to the strange mesh of buildings off in the distance. "It's a good place. See everything well from here."

| Tinby Tin looked at the man and the mechanical dog, and as he said the place was fin he scanned the building once more, and sure enough the damage to the foundation had only gotten worse, he then looked to the man as he explained being able to see everything "This unit has scanners installed for evaluation of structural integrity for use in maintenance operations, while the exterior of the building my seem secure despite the angle of rest, the foundation of the building is damaged and may give way, this unit is here to repair the damage and restore the building to it's full standing"
He looked out though at the view, it was a decent view though "The perspective from this building will be improved once the foundation is properly repaired, it will also be far more stable and safe for habitation later, as no one resides here, This unit believes taking the top floor room would be possible if you wished to keep the view" he said looking up to the man once more as he waited for a response.

| "...I still don't understand the words you're saying..." Dale frowned as he thought through everything that he'd just been told. Of the few words he could pick out..."How is it damaged? And...how are you supposed to fix-" He gestures toward the building. "All this yourself? How would you do that?" Dale just continues to stare at Tiny Tin as he spouts a great many words that don't make sense to him, until..."No...window is a smaller view. Same height, but you see less because you have to look through it." His eyes dart down as a rat passes by. "People would come anyway. Through the building, through this thing. Not safe for getting out." | |

| Tiny Tin continued to look at the individual as he asked for clarification and so he assumed he may not have any training in mechanical matters, looking into his lexicon of words he changed his pacing and used words that were far more common "The part of the building that is keeping the whole think up is damaged, due to time and because no one has taken care of it. This unit is here to do just that, as for how, this unit is equipped with the tools and information needed for the task, and is quite capable of doing so in a few minutes" the smaller robot answered as he looked to the man, but then he continued to talk and presumed that he would see less.
Tiny Tin could understand the wish to survey the surroundings however the man was incorrect in his assumption "This floor has a damaged balcony, a part of the building that presents a view much like the one the spot we are in has, however it would be higher and sir would have a greater view of the area once the building is set to stand properly, as for getting down, This unit can assist in that if you wish" he said as he was scanning the building constantly, so far nothing was going wrong with it, but he was unsure how long that would last.

| Well the words made sense, but...Dale looked from Tiny Tin to the entire building that the two of them just so happened to be on. The idea that this robot was able to fix the entire thing in just a few minutes was just a little unbelievable. Then again, if it could...well, that was definitely something he'd want to know how to do. "How? Even if you fix that bit, it's like this all the way to the ground. And...well, just a bit of a bit of a building is heavy, and it's hard to move them without breaking them. How can you get the whole thing to move like that?"
What were they...wait, maybe that bit? They said a view like this place, and that is was damaged, but..."Doesn't that bit need fixing too? This bit's on strong, but that's got pieces coming off with nothing on it. It'd fall if I went on it."

| "Simply fixing the foundation is possible, which will right the rest of the building, correcting the building can be done with the use of struts to hold the weight, dividing the weight of the building between many struts will reduce the load on each strut as the work is done, allowing for the total repair of the foundation, and doing so in small increments can be done with precision equipment which This unit is equipped with" Tiny tin answered his question on how her would be able to repair the building.
As the man pointed out the balcony Tiny tin looked at it and scanned it once more "This unit is equipped with a scanner, using this scanner has allowed this unit to calculate how much weight that balcony can hold, and is able to asses the weight of yourself, you are easily within the weight limit of the balcony in it's current state, and if you wish this unit can do additional repairs on that balcony once the foundation is repaired, making the whole building much more stable and safe"

| So...basically, they used stuff to hold up the weight of the building while they worked on whatever the thing was that held up the rest of the building. ...that was kind of an obvious way to do it, thinking about it. "In a few minutes, though...? That seems...fast. Really fast."
A brief moment of alarm ran through Dale. It had a...'scanner', that could tell it how much weight a thing could handle, and how much he weighed. And as useful as that was to have, there was how it was able to do that - how much the thing told it. And whether anyone else could have one. The robot seemed more focused on fixing things than doing anything like that, though...it was something to watch for, but not dangerous right now. "...that would be good."
"...I want to see." Settling Chip in his clothing and stowing his belongings, Dale jumps down from the fire escape, moving over to another spot where he'd be able to get a good view on whatever the robot was about to do.

| Looking to the man Tiny Tin nodded at his question to the speed at which he could do the job "This unit is designed for such tasks, and excels at them sir" he said as the man seemed to clear from the area asking to witness the reconstruction, Seeing the man leap from the fire escape and to a place where he would no doubt have a good view Tin scanned the area the man went to and the ground between assessing it for structural issues and calculating the likely hood of damage to it from his work. Thankfully the calculations came back Negative for any adverse affects to the area from his work and so he activated his boosters and flew down to the ground.
He started by setting up some Pylons to note the work area and then he moved under the building, deploying strut jacks to hold the building and help to level it slowly, he deployed several of these strut jacks and started the process of cranking them to slowly raise the building a small amount, he would then begin laying rapid setting concrete and applying rebar to it for strength, utilizing his nail gun to assemble the boards needed to hold the form of the concrete.
This process continued and in short order, the whole task only taking thirty minutes, the building was not only standing upright, but the small bot had reinforced the balcony and fixed numerous holes and structural defects in the walls. the Foundation now was secure, the walls repaired, and the place safer then it had been for a very long time, walking out of the buildings front door and over to Dale Tiny Tin gave a little salute "Maintenance finished, Structural integrity of the building restored to optimal conditions, aesthetic maintenance required, however safety of structure is now confirmed" she said with a chipper tone. The building itself was actually sitting higher then it used to now that it's foundation was fully repaired. the balcony of the one unit easily giving a view that easily beat the view the fire escape once gave.

| In the midst of his paranoid checks of his surroundings, Dale watched intently as the robot set to work, noting each little detail of what it was doing. It was fascinating to see the way tools and materials were made on the spot and put to use, all of it used with precision and efficiency for the task at hand. On a second to second basis, it was slow, but relatively... It was a wonder really, to see such grand changes made so swiftly, by something so small no less. It was hard to fathom how the thing was able to produce so much as it had when it seemed to him the stuff it would have needed just wasn't there...but it had. And the building looked very different for it.
"Where...did all that stuff come from?" Dale's eyes flicked between the building and the saluting robot, feeling a need to know for his own purposes. "You used so much stuff...in that building, on that building, making things with it...but where was it? How did you have all that? You used so much and..." He pointed to the bot. "There isn't even a lot of you to carry it with."

| Tiny Tin looked at the man as he asked his question, questions not many asked really, they just let him go about his work but as it was his own internal workings Tin knew quite well how he had the space required, and as he was now technically a citizen according to the security personnel that he had met before, he was no longer technically a militarily guarded secret. "This unit is equipped with a mobile forge and resource processing unit, Allowing This unit to take scraps and debris and use then to create and forge needed components for any work job, This unit also has tools installed for any and all mechanical repairs or maintenance".
He looked to the building that was now totally structurally sound then back to the man "Were you thinking of taking up residence? if so this unit may aid in further repairs if you wish?" he asked seemingly gently bouncing up and down on his feet as if eager to continue working. Which honestly he was, he was no longer restricted to simply maintenance and could take his time with projects. If this man was not going to move in then maybe Tin would come back later and continue repairs to make it more habitable? Ether way he had free time for the first time ever, and he planned to use it to improve the area more then he allowed him self to before.

| The metaphorical cogs that worked away in Dale's had were practically visible at that moment. He didn't understand any of that. Repeatedly, he worked the sentence through his mind, digging into its every word for something he could make sense of. "...you have stuff to let you make stuff you find into other stuff." That was the important part, that was what he could figure out, and that was about as much complexity as he could handle without an extremely extensive explanation of the processes and the language used to explain them.
There just wasn't enough in the next question for him to pick it apart like that though. "...no?" That was the best answer he could give, really. Still, the robot seemed...happy to do things. Like it wanted to do more. It was still weird, the things they focused on. "I'm just...going to draw more." Dale went over to the side of the building with the balcony, and started clambering up the side, using the fire escape and whatever else he could as he leapt about until he found himself on the balcony again. It was higher...there was a certain look he only got at the lower angle, but there were details he could only spot at this one too. Getting out his supplies, Dale flicks off the page he was using and starts trying to capture this new angle.

| The man seemed confused and perhaps Tin had used to many non standard terms once again, however the man seemed to under stand the basic concept, and as he was waiting to see if the man required further services, he stopped gently bouncing on his feet as the man said no, it seemed he was no longer required in the area and so the little machine nodded a bit, "Understood sir, I hope you have a good day, and good luck on your drawing" the little robot said as the man walked to the building and climbed up the side and up the fire escape as well. With his set task done Tiny Tin turned and started to walk back into the slums once more, to look for other things that could use fixing, or things that people needed help with. ~EXIT~ | |
