| On average Frog could only understand around 3/4 words this girl uttered. The remaining 25% was utter slang gibberish to him. Gibberish he'd never learned as a kid because ha sad edgy lonely backstory. Really though, he had a hard time deciphering what she was meaning with what she said. "Cyclists yeah." He at least got what she meant on that front... "All for the sake of aerodynamicity." He added, shaking his head. He was starting to have a feeling everything he did or said would be taken as a sign of his nerdiness in this interaction.
He listened intently as she explained what he needed to look for on a bike, so he began looking over to see if he could find a bike he could climb onto as she talked. Honestly they all looked much more huge than they probably are, because they were all just machines of mass destruction in reality. And he had experience not even being able to climb onto bikes of people who were actually shorter than him usually. So wth.
"Where's the CC tag on a bike?" He asked, going around and looking around the bikes to try and find it. Stopping by a smaller bike, he tried to climb on to see if he even could. Merely grabbing the handles already made him feel like he'd landed face-first into dirt. The handle was completely and utterly covered in it. Well, more like, it was like someone tried to clean it but the dirt had already integrated itself into the material so it was impossible to remove it completely. Or at all. "This one feels too small." He said, getting off of it. "Just show me the CC tag so I can check that."

| Aero...? Yeah, he was a nerd alright. It wasn't really hard to tell when he threw it out there like that. "Haha, yeah I knew you were a dork," she'd comment with a wry smile. Like, she didn't mind though. He was actually out here ready to ride dirt bikes and junk so like he wasn't a basement-dwelling loser and he let his freak flag fly, that's what's up. Patricia would go to look at her own bikes, it was just a bit harder for her to find one she wanted due to her height but that green one looked pretty good. High CC too, at least moderate. She had no clue, all Patty knew was that bigger numbers meant faster and she wanted to get some air. Like, 350 CC was good, right? It beat the hell out of 200. She didn't care if she couldn't handle it, she'd learn or eat dirt. Either way it was gonna be a hell of a time. It was kinda short but yeah she wanted this one.
"Huh?" Looks like the new kid couldn't find the bike info tags. She'd swing her lanky self off her bike and waltz over to his. Yeeeeaaaah this one was kiiiiiiinda tricky... but shee'd find it. "Like, they're usually zip tied to the handle bars or on the tank but I guess that one doesn't have one." She'd look up and down but like, it was just gone. Not taped to the engine, not on the handle bars... "Hey yo!" she called across the garage to the older guy that looked like he was busy readjusting the shelves, "The info tag on this one's missing! You got it anywhere?" "Hmm? Oh, yes, just right behind the counter. Was planning on washing that one from this morning so I took it off but I got sidetracked, didn't think we'd have any other takers."
He'd go to fetch it and slowly walk over, reading the card in his hand and looking up at the young man. "That one's right around 185 cubic centimeters, if you've never rode before that's a good engine size. I wouldn't recommend anything about 250 unless you've been doing this for a few months at least and that's regularly. Might be a bit to small for you though, you'll want to be in between having her feet flat on the ground and being on your tip toes when you sit since you don't want your feet to drag but you want to be able to put your boots down if you need to control the bike. If you'd like I can suggest what I think would be a good fit, you look like you might fit the Tsunami185X over there, the blue one, but it's best to sit and feel what's comfortable for your height and the suspension."
The jig was up. Patricia stood behind the old guy as he spoke and explained the bullshit she told the kid, giving an open-handed shrug with one arm and rubbing the back of her head with another. She'd have a goofy apologetic grin plastered on her face as if to say "whoops, my bad". She knew better though. Like not a lot better but still enough to know how to mess with him.

| Frog listened earnestly as the old man explained everything to him. He'd been listening to the girl too, but she couldn't get him the answers herself. Like the tag thing. Now, as he listened to the old man, one phrase caught his attention for some reason: 'cubic centimeters'. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was about it that got his brains to work a bit, but it must've been something. Hmmm...cubic centimeters, engine size, 185...
Oh, so that was CC. He looked up as a lightbulb flared to life above his head. Clapping his hands, he rejoiced over his newfound understanding, bathing in his attained supremacy over the terminology- Before his face went grim and drained from understanding what'd almost happened. His eyes darted to Patty who was just casually shrugging like 'lol whoops'. "Ooooooooooooooooooi, you said it was Corner Control. CORNER CONTROL. Was I really as dumb not to doubt that!? Geez." He exploded, but took a few deep breaths so it was all better. Tai chi, tai chi. He smiled as he looked at the mister and the bike he was offering. "Why thank you, I'll take that one. I wouldn't wanna get stuck on a bike that's too powerful for me on my first run. You really saved me." He acted polite as he walked to the bike. Sitting on it it was the perfect size. Of course, as much as the girl had tricked him or maybe just made an honest mistake herself, there was no getting out of this now. He had to do it else he'd just look like a wuss to her and, more importantly, to himself. "So when do we start? You've picked out your bike, no~?" He spoke to her now.

| The willowy girl covered her mouth to stifle her laughter when the kid freaked out, making it a little obvious what she'd meant by it. Like she didn't know it meant cubic centimeters either but she knew it meant the bike went faster and that was juuuuuuuust enough to fuck with him. "That's quite alright," spoke the inn attendant with a caring nod, "It isn't really obvious what 'CC' means to anyone who doesn't do this for a hobby. I'm just glad I could help ya out. I'll go get the paperwork ready for ya." As the older gentleman turned to conduct his business Patricia's face would immediately shift from sly and snickering to a warm, pleasant smile without skipping a single beat. As the attendant passed her she sang gratefully, "Thank you SO much for helping us out!" and received a polite nod in return as he went on his way. As soon as he left the two alone Patricia would address the kid as her usual, mischeivous self. "Psssh, don't be so melodramatic about it, you were gonna be fiiiiiiine!" she encouraged, leaning in toward him, "Like even if you didn't know better you picked one out that was in a bracket you could handle, nothing bad would've happened and you would of learned later, so like it's cool, right?" So she didn't get to see him speed face first into a jump and sail into the dirt but like this was good enough. His reaction was pretty priceless.
Patricia tossed her hair and decided to move on with him on things, like she didn't care if she got justification for her prank or not anyway. "Shyeah totally, I'm going with the green monster over there. It's got, like, 300 CC on it so you know it's gonna go fast as fuck! Ahahaha!" The delinquent chicked laughed earnestly, either completely oblivious to what a bad idea that was or ambivalent about it. As the older man came back with the paperwork he presented it to the two with a clipboard and pen and he began to explain how to fill out the forms. "So here's the paperwork, I'll just need some information from you two and we can get rockin' and rollin'. That first page is the standard waiver, just says you won't sue if you take a bad fall on the property, it also comes with the terms of understanding. Past that we've got some contact information to fill out in case we need to call anyone in an emergency, just the standard stuff. Next we have the insurance form where you'll need to list your provider if applicable, ya don't need to fill that one out but uninsured riders are a liability and I have to charge you a liability fee. After that you'll just put down your credit card and a few people you know and-" Patty had followed along quicky, filling everything out and skimming the majority of it until the old man got to that part. She looked up to him with mild confusion. "Like, do I really need to list a credit card? Can't we just pay cash or something?" she asked. The girl had expected to just show up and ride, not fill stuff out, and the insurance and paperwork thing weren't in the whole deal she had in her head. "Sorry," the older man says, "Those are the rules. We need something to hold on file in case you damage the bikes and need to pay for repairs or replacement." Patty just shrugged, muttering I guess that makes sense as she filled out the rest of the form to the loosest of her ability. Then she got to the final page and her eyes opened wide.
"Holy shit, seriously!?" she gasped. The inn attendant nodded. "Those are the packages we offer. You can rent a variety of equipment from safety gear to trailers if you need'em with several options for renting the bikes themselves, we can do hourly or dayly dependin' on your preference." Patty just shook her head. The absolute lowest option was for 4 hours and cost her almost 200 bucks. And that was lowballing it, some of them went over 400. "Aheheh, I can't afford this," she chuckled, tearing the pages she filled out out of the contract before handing the remainder back to the attendant. He accepted it politely and began to speak. "I can understand that, we do offer discounts for larger groups and-" "Like, thank you for taking this time and stuff but there is literally no freakin' way I can afford this," Patricia interrupted. "I work part time at a convenience store, some of that stuff is more than my paycheck. Before taxes." She didn't raise her voice but her tone was a littly testy, her face incredulous. It started to show but she was mildly upset at taking time out of her day to do this and finding out she couldn't, even getting her hopes up and looking forward to it just to be destroyed by reality. It really freakin' sucked.

| Frog never even started filling out the forms to begin with. He'd stopped his hand the moment the man mentioned some insurance nonsense, and also mentioned an additional fee he'd have to be charged if he didn't fill out the insurance thing. He didn't care how big or small the fee was, this was just...no. The next issue was the credit card business. He didn't know his credit card number and wasn't eager to have to pull it out of his wallet now in front of the two of them for various reasons, the biggest of which was social anxiety. Or something. He didn't want to let them know he didn't know his credit card information was the jist of it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand also his credit card may have been empty after his last raid at the eShop.
So as he watched the girl continue to fill her forms out, he felt a sense of dread quell at his stomach. The butterflies inside it were more like those big creepy moths you see at the seaside in the summer. He was nearly ready to speak up when he saw the girl's expression and demeanor shift slightly. She was displeased at the contents of the forms as well. Her questions were more than what Frog would've asked, even, yet she willingly continued filling it out... He thought it was all over, but...
"Wait what is that really how much it costs!? Holy shit." Frog exclaimed, rummaging through the papers to try and find where the price was listed. "Like, I am not paying that much just to crash riding one of these things." He continued, pushing the form towards the man to let him pick it off his hands. He looked at the girl again. Seriously, he wasn't paying attention to the last thing she said-something about part time jobs. Whatever, he had the money to ride these bikes, but he wasn't willing to pay up that big for something not of his direct intrinsic choosing. "Thank you for your time, but I'll be leaving now." One nod towards the innkeep later and Frog looked at the girl again. "You goin' too, I presume."

| The older gentleman was surprisingly understanding about the whole exchange, politely taking back the form. He wasn't offput about losing this business anyway since rarely did anyone attempt to rent bikes anyway. It was more for a tourism hook than anything else anyway, just one more thing to draw in the customers. "I completely understand, it isn't normally young people that tend to sign up for this sort of thing unless they're with their parents or it's a club activity. If you ever change your mind you're welcome anytime, but sorry to say if you're not buying anything or renting I can't have you in the garage. I really need to get back up to the front and I can't leave anyone alone with the bikes. I hope ya understand."
Patricia rolled her neck from side to side, disappointed she couldn't get what she wanted. At least she wasn't the only one, nerd boy didn't sound too happy either. Like, it was a total fucking drag she couldn't go ride bikes after coming aaaaaaaaaall the way out her to do it. Now she'd have to find some other thing to do so her time didn't get wasted, otherwise she'd get pissed as hell on the train ride home. Not like she could vent about it either since she blew off all her girlfriends to come do this. Seriously freakin' lame. But it gave her ideas. Like, if she did Student Council, she could make this some sort of fun trip after collecting the money for it. Or like do some racing tournament. Or make a racing club, yo that'd be fucking sweeeeeeet.
"Psssssshhh might as well!" she scoffed in irritation, "Like, I was really looking forward to this, I turned down SO much other shit to be here. This freakin' blows." The delinquent chick rubbed the back of her neck as she complained and would go to step outside. Like, nothing left to do but wander around and find something to do before she got in a bad mood. She jerked her head in his direction as her hands dug around in her pockets for her smokes. "Hey, you live here right? Is there anything cool to do around here? I just don't wanna feel like I wasted my time, y'know?" chatted Patricia, sliding a cigarette into her lips once she was outdoors and lighting it.

| Oh yeah sure great of course she smoked. Frog shrugged and incognito took a step away so she wouldn't notice as she was busy with the lighter, to get away from the general stink-area. "Yeah this sucks. Man, even I was kinda looking forward to it in the end." She said, using his shirt to clean up his glasses after he'd picked them up again from mr old guy. Of course mr old guy couldn't hold a pair of fucking glasses without greasing them up. No one ever could do that. Whenever they left his face, they always returned dirty and he was such a perfectionist about them he wouldn't put them on unless they were squeaky clean. So it was taking him a while, checking the dirtiness every once in a while against the sunlight. "There's really nothing else much to do here. Though it's your choice if you're gonna trust me. I hadn't a clue there was dirt biking here."
Now was the time for her to call him out on being a nerd as the reason for him not noticing the dirt biking's existence. "This is the suburbs-kinda. Has there ever been anything interesting in any fricken suburb?"

| At least she wasn't pissed off alone. Well, not pissed off but she was pretty disappointed. All that time wasted she wasn't gonna get back... nah, she wasn't letting go of this that easy. Patty'd think of something and come back, she wanted to try it at least once. If she didn't like it she'd just cross it off her list. Just like she expected the other kid didn't know anything else that was cool here. Like, what else could there be TO do? "Nah, I bet you'd know better than me though," she spoke up, trying to be friendly to improve her mood after so much freakin' SUCKitude, "Like, you live here and stuff. You go walking around this place all the time right?" He was sort of a dweeb so he might not, but if Patty lived here she wouldn't come home all day if she had the choice. It was a lot more fun just walking up the streets and seeing what you ran into.
"Ahahaha, I guess it depends on what you call interesting!" she'd laugh, "Like people running meth labs out of their basements and blowing up out of nowhere is pretty interesting but I mean I'm not gonna go looking for that shit, y'know?" The thuggish one would grin wide to show that she was 100% joking, but she was right all the same. You didn't want to mess with some of those people, it was a great way to get stabbed to death. But yeah, she'd been through some of those neighborhoods where it was obvious. It was interesting and dangerous. The bad kind of dangerous, not the fun kind. She absentmindedly twirled her cigarette in her fingers like someone would a pencil as she thought of stuff she could do, and none of them here. The water park was out, maybe she'd go around to the arcade? She could get something to eat there anyway, Patty'd make an evening out of it. "Hey so like, you were leaving with people yeah?" she mentioned. She remembered seeing him with a couple others before he stopped to talk to her, things like that kinda stuck out to her. "They're not waiting on you or anything right? Like, there's nothing here to do, seriously a waste of time." Patricia brought her cigarette to her lips to let it just hang there, sticking her hands in her pockets as she kept a loose gait. "I should get going too. You're totally right, I don't think I'm gonna find anything here. Yo nerd, you go to school?" He didn't seem like a bad dude, but like, it'd be super good to get the whole "go ride dirt bikes as a class function" thing going.

| Was she turning what he said inside out? When he said interesting he didn't mean anything more than just reiterating what she was looking for but with a different word, geez. Her examples didn't entertain him much either, yet she was an oddly interesting girl nonetheless. Interesting again, ey. Actually, her question got him thinking. He did actually walk around the place a lot with his dog so he knew a lot of the nooks and crannies an unassuming passerby would miss out on. These were mostly forgotten paths and stuff like that, dead ends and whatnots, various tight spaces and maybe some forbidden old areas too. "Oh well actually if ya want like if you're bored, I go around the place a lot with my dog so I know a bunch of old spots where no one goes anymore, and various shortcuts around the blocks." He wasn't sure what he wanted to accomplish with this invitation because he was sure to be awkward with her around, yet he still did. All the new friendship stuff was getting to him, honestly, eating at his brains. "Like if you come here again or something."
And he had to go as well, feeling a bit glad that the girl had to go too. As interesting as this had been, Frog had a very limited capability to handle such events and unexpected meetings, so he was dying inside for some alone time. "I came here with my parents cause mom doesn't wanna have to cook all the time." Frog shrugged. "I let them know I'll be late but I suppose I should get going too." He said, taking a step back. He waved to the girl. "What's your name anyways?" He would ask before leaving.

| Exploring the 'burbs could be fun. Not like going to the Arcade fun or skateboarding fun but like, a chill thing to do after school or something. You could usually find some cool stuff if you looked hard enough and sometimes it was just nice to walk around and take everything in. That's what she liked about the 'burbs, they were like, some kinda peaceful and stuff and they had a lot of secrets. Old abandoned lots, treehouses no one uses anymore, some failed stores that have really cool people in them, those were the best. You could be a regular there and just hang out with people all day, sometimes you'd get free stuff but a lot of those people were awesome. She inhaled off her cigarette and blew some smoke from her nose grinning a little bit. She loved it when people acted shy, it was adorable. "*pffffff... Hmmheh, sure dude. We can hang out sometime," she spoke casually. Patty could pick up on what he was laying down even if he was being awkward about it. Geez like every guy was awkward these days, it was nothing like NorCal. Well whatevs, it just meant she'd have more people to mess with but seriously though she needed some people to lighten up and go do fun stuff. So he was gonna go leave with his mom, that was cool. Some people had families and shit, not like she did anymore but she could respect it. She had other stuff to do anyway, like, not hang around boring inns wasting her time and stuff. "I'm Patty, you might of heard of me already. Like, I got posters all over school, you should totally vote for me for Student Council Treasurer." Patricia grinned and stuck her tongue out a bit, she had to sell the Student Council junk wherever she could if she was gonna get the spot. Like, she could totally get it if she wanted it hard enough and she wanted it harder than a lot of people. "Hey nerd, gimme your number! It's gonna be hard to hang out if I can't find you, huh?" Patty'd see if she could grab it and his name real quick before heading out herself. She was sure she could find something to do. Yo, all this talk about her old state kiiiiiinda made her want to go buy a board! She'd have to start picking up on it again, the school had some pretty tasty stairs she wanted to jump down. ~~EXIT~~ | |
