Subject: Lui & The Lucky Clover (Gabe) Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:38 pm
Between his schoolwork, managing the Fencing Club, and acting as the White Knight in the night, Lui had been rather busy with keeping his life together. That's when he came across the business card he received from Gabe. He hadn't seen him in a while, maybe a few days or so, and perhaps a drink and chat would be nice to clear his head while getting more information about who Gabe is and how he could be useful for Lui's "nightlife" operations.
Dressed in a pair of khakis and a white collared shirt with blue stripes to better fit the casino crowd, Lui flipped the card around between his fingers as he walked into the Lucky Clover casino. He scanned the tables and slots for the familiar gambler. When he thought he spotted him among the card players, he approached him, waving the card between his fingers before slotting it away into his pocket swiftly.
"Good day, Mr. Gatsby. How goes business? I came to take you up on that drink offer."

Little did Lui know, part of Gabe's job was to identify people who were card counting in order to prevent the casino from gaining any losses. So with that in mind, Gabe would occasional, be a little bit more social and sit at a few tables. It's kind of funny, Gabe handling situations like this in a more classy way in order to maintain order and a particular standard for his guests, as well as getting a feel for the suspected individual at hand. If there was one thing that Gabe could tell, it was skill over luck. However, he was briefly interrupted by a familiar face. " one moment..."
Getting up from the table, Gabe would give a prompt bow and turn to his newfound acquaintance.
"Lui, so good of you to join us tonight. I was wondering if you were ever going to show? "
Leading Lui over to the bar, Gabe would take a seat and raise up two fingers" How are you? What do you drink? I prefer wine to be honest.

Lui gave a light smile and nod to Gabriel. He still felt a bit nervous standing in the casino considering his age, but so long as it wasn't requested, he would just leave that matter out of his concern. For now, Lui decided to play it cool and chat him up. After all, this could be a worthwhile catch...
"Good to see you too, Gabe. Sorry, club's been preparing for a tournament lately, so I've been training with them quite a lot. Now that it's finished, I decided to pop by. Quite the packed house you have here. I wouldn't want to take you away from your game, but I assume you weren't there just to play."
As they approached the bar, Lui quickly scanned through the menu, searching for an appropriate drink to not have his ID checked. Something colorful, sweet or fruity would do the trick. Maybe he'd pick up on the hint or just accept whatever Lui could say in his defense.
"I'll take the pineapple sparkler, no alcohol. So, I've been alright. Sister's getting back into cheer, so she's been having me spot her on her stunts. School's pretty meh right now, as usual. Club's been getting some new mem- oh, I haven't brought up my club with you, have I?
What I'm more interested in is you. How's YOUR life been? Business still booming? How was your business with the detective?"

The bartender nodded as she started to prepare the drink and send it over to Lui. "That's on me, don't worry about it. " After that, Gabe listened to a bit of how Lui's life was going. He learned that he had a sister, something that Gabe never bothered to ask when it came to siblings. However, it wasn't his fault, he was an only child. On top of that, Gabe could only focus on the people in front of him. "Well, cheerleading is an admirable activity, all of those formations that you have to learn. On top of that, you would also have to keep the people interested and motivated. "
Raising his eyebrow, Gabe would double back to the club bit. "A club you say? And what could be your nitch? If you don't mind me asking? My business is fine, as you can see. As for the detective? All i really have is her word, but if she was stingy about the exact price in the first place, i'm wholeheartedly expecting the return on my investment sometime soon. "

"Thanks." Lui simply said as the bartender passed him his drink. A small sip passed his lips before he continued.
"That's Sumi for ya. She's popular around school because she can keep people motivated. I swear, that girl almost never has a down day in her life. She has a lot of energy too, so keeping up with her's a bit of a drag when she goes off full steam. There was that small tone in his words that indicated he wasn't as happy with his sister as she might be with him. Lui didn't particularly hate his sister, but keeping up with her antics and getting pulled into them more often than not was a pain to deal with. She was talented in quite a few sports, popular, and enjoyed every bit of it. Lui had to work hard for his talent, and that didn't get him any scraps from the school. He decided to quell this line of reasoning and discuss his club with Gabe.
"You're interested? Well, I'm the captain of the Fencing Club over at Seven Stars. Although, it isn't as popular as it was last year. Most of the members left when the last captain graduated, so I got saddled with it. But it's starting to get more members, so I'll have to settle for that...
But if you don't mind me asking, that detective business dowsn't have to do with the casino, does it? Seems like you're keen enough to spy trouble before it happens around here. I wouldn't mind playing a round of cards here, as long as my age isn't the barrier."

Well, regardless of the matter, the family should come first when looking out for each other. Hopefully, things are in a good way for you two still. " Though, learning about Lui's fencing hobby as something new and unexpected. Gabe had heard about the fencing club, but it seemed to have lost its flare when all of the original members graduated from the seven stars academy. It was admirable that Lui was trying to get this team back on track. "Well, if your skills are good, i'm sure you can burst through it all in no time, have a little faith. The popularity ill comes back with you at the forefront. "
After taking a sip of his wine once he got it, Gabe then looked over to the table that wasn't occupied. "A game huh? Well, you would need some money for chips if you were serious.

No matter how hard he tried to suppress it from Gabe's view, Lui still gave off a slight eyeroll when it came to the whole affair concerning family sticking together. Yes, he took care of his sister when she needed help and would hate to see her fail as much as she would, but the dynamic between the two often left Lui with nowhere near as many advantages as Sumi, leaving him short of success in plenty of situations. He decided to just nod and agree with Gabe.
"Naturally, I still care for her. I just wish I had a portion of the recognition and popularity she has. As for the club, having faith and keeping the club together is all I really have to work with. The few core members I have are shaping up nicely. We've won a few school matches and lost our fair share, so hopefully that gives the club more recognition as a sports club.
Hmm, a real game? I don't have a lot of money with me, maybe 300 VC, so I might not be putting up any actual money. Then again, it's business for you, so it's your choice. What are my chances of a few rounds of cards without a bet?"

"Do those things truly matter? Do you care a lot about how people think about you that you feel as if you pale in comparison to your sister? If I may be so frank, I don't think that it should be taken personally when one person is preferred from others, we all have our own lives to live and there is a place where we all can truly connect with. As for the club, like I said before, it's all in good hands from what I can see. "
As for the game, Gabe thought for a moment and the got up from his seat, taking his drink with him. "How about one round? It's more of a gamble if you are willing to bet all that you have. " Taking a seat, Gabe would nod at the dealer and stretch his hands around. "300 vc worth of chips, for both of us. All in...." If Lui would agree, the game would begin.

Lui sets his drink down on the counter after another sip, resting his chin in one of his hands. Considering how Lui carries himself, the only reason he would care about how someone saw him was to create a connection with them, act as their friend to benefit from their relationship. But when it came to Sumi and... his brother, he always felt like he wanted to be liked for who he really was.
"It matters more to other people than myself, but when you're referred to as "Sumi's brother" more often than your own name, perhaps it would help to get your name out there."
Lui picked up his drink and followed Gabe to the table, getting his poker face ready. He had his 300 VC ready, recognizing that he would get to work at the dojo later to make up for the lack of funds soon. He gave a nod to the dealer and prepared to play for his minimal cash. At least it would go to Gabe's business if he lost, and doubling his money wouldn't be too bad.
"Ready. Open the game!"

Okay!!
Starting Game....
"BLACK JACK ATTACK "ONE ROUND!"
FAQ:
Spoiler:
This was previously shown around my own custom shop, but how it works is the same way that i do fortune telling. But the way that it works is that we would both would get dealt alright. This sis still the trial stages, but we can try to round up from whatever cards have been picked and utilize the list. Then have a small updatable faq of what numbers are unusable, and that would be the deck imo. So central find so it wont be so tedious for you, hopefully this works.
Like for instance, if i rand 52 and i got 24 but that's already in play by you, i have 25, and so on. Those who get dealt first have priority of course.
Rand rules
Spoiler:
1-13 (Ace - King of Hearts) 14 - 26 (Ace - King of Spades) 27 - 39 (Ace - King of Diamonds) 40 - 52 (Ace - King of Clubs)
You know the drill, Royalty is 10, Ace can be either 1 or 11. Object of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible.
First dealt card is face up, second dealt card is face down.
Dealing Lui
Spoiler:
1st dealt
Random number (1,52) :
5
2nd dealt
Random number (1,52) :
32
Dealing myself
Spoiler:

Interesting. The cards he was dealt amounted to 11, a number perfect to match up with any of the face cards still lurking in the deck. There was also no card large enough to sink his hand, so a hit would be wise. He only knew the basics of blackjack, but he could tell there was no reason to hit on the chance he could reach 21 easily. He motioned to the dealer to give him a card.
"Hit."

"I see......." This was a bit of an easy situation for Gabe to be in. The hand that he had was kind of simple, but there was enough wiggle room in order to get a hit and maybe take advantage of the situation. "Brave man, must be having a good time..."
Gabe then turned towards the dealer.
"Hit.."
Would this work?

Lui's mouth curled down a bit in thought and frustration. All he drew was a 5 of Diamonds, putting him at a 16. This put him in a tough decision. Would he bother with trying another hit? Knowing his luck, he would probably draw a face card and bust. Instead, he relied on his instincts and left his total as it was.
"I'll stay."

The dealer nodded and turned to Gabe, who also nodded. "Call..."
After that, Gabe revealed his hand, apparently busted. "It looks like I got a little greedy. " Waiting for Lui's hand reveal, if it was positive, the total of the chips would be pushed in Lui's direction, having doubled what he originally had before.
"Well what do you know? It looks like you came away with a hefty prize, even though I saw you sweat a little. Congrats Lui, how do you feel now?"

Lui decided to reveal his hand as soon as Gabe's bust was apparent. He reveal his two fives and a 6, resulting in a 16. Lui cracked a small grin, enjoying his win but not trying to seem overjoyed at beating Gabe. He accepted the chips pressed his direction, stacking them up to equal stacks as he spoke with Gabe. Gabe pointed out how Lui was sweating a bit, causing Lui to feel around his head in confusion. He didn't remember getting overly stressed, so perhaps his concentration and thoughts were working his brain enough to make him sweat.
"Naturally, I feel glad. It wasn't that big a risk for me, but to see it pay off is relieving. Thanks for treating me to a game. I'll be sure to pop by again when I have the time. I could see us getting along... very well."
