| “Alright kids… Let's get one thing straight…” Sargent F’Xiong had been having the strangest week of his life. At the beginning of this week, just after the jump, he had nothing but contempt for these so called “Seekers”. Far as he could tell they were the cause of all this. He was there at the festival when it happened, he heard the screams and the death, but more importantly he heard the what happened in the Fungeon. He heard the recording from the Traveler. All of this smelled wrong… the city goes to shit and these “Saviors” show up to clean out the problem? Outshine the police force that have been giving their lives for the city for centuries? More than that it was response from top brass that made him the maddest. All of a sudden he and his men were second banana to a bunch of edgy teenagers and now he was supposed to babysit these freaks on an Exploration mission? None of this added up. “My name is F’Xiong, I am head of this operation, and yes, that makes me the boss of you until we return from our expedition. I frankly don’t care who or what you people think you are, so long as you’re under my command you will follow my orders” His booming voice was only amplified by the small confines of the transport ship. It had only just left from the police station docking bay in Middle Ward, yet it would only take a moment to get to the planet’s surface. “We will be disembarking in t-minus 5 minutes, once we do we’ll begin our exploration of Permanence by going to the smaller settlement to the south in order to gather information on this world, its history, natural resources, and any and all information about the large city to the north. Any who would like to volunteer to go north first are welcome to provided they are accompanied by one of my men…” F’Xiong narrowed his eyes at the Seekers around him before continuing. “Any questions?”

| For a moment, Azul was starting to question why he had even signed up for this. Sure, he did a lot of jobs for hire but...usually it was just digging up dirt on someone, or extracting large sums from unassuming bank accounts, or other elicit activities. And always from the shadows. This time, he was painfully exposed however. Field work was unappealing, in all honesty. He wasn't exactly a hands-on type of person, in the end. Still, the allure of sweet, sweet cash was enough to make him interested. Making an honest dollar for once was...well, an interesting idea. And he DID need more experience, with all sorts of things.
He gave the rest of the group a quick look-over before deciding that they were thoroughly unimpressive. They all at least LOOKED human, besides the weird rabbit thing. Still, compared to some of the aliens he had seen, she was remarkably tame. And also that other guy. He had seen him before...maybe. Azul didn't really care. He shoved his hands into his pockets with a tiny sigh, giving F’Xiong the most serious look he could muster. This guy was bossy, and a bit of a loud-mouth. More importantly it seemed as though he was eager to assert himself as being 'in-charge', yet Azul had a sinking suspicion that if conflict were to start they'd be stuck with most of the work.
"No questions on my end." He stated simply, holding back exasperation. He was starting to remember why he hated working in groups.

| “Just one. Is there any formal introduction protocol we need to follow? I doubt the natives will take kindly to aliens giving them the usual “hello”.” The question Lucian asked might have come off as snarky commentary from his tone of voice, but it was a genuine question. Usually in all of his improbable scenario simulations he was the one preparing to be greeted by aliens, not be the alien who greets. Of course, the question would be moot if the plan was to try to roll undercover as natives of Permanence, but he knew for a fact the natives would see the sudden appearance of a gigantic alien tower, then see the various non-humanoid races on this exploration party, and be more than capable of putting two and two together.
As for whom the aliens were in total… they’d certainly managed to stick together as planned, it seemed. Aside from the young boy he recognized as another seeker, the only people who’d signed up seemed to be their immediate circle. Lucian was content with this, though he couldn’t help but worry about Alice being here. Still, she’d made it more than clear that she had no intention of staying behind and that she was more than capable of defending herself now, so as long as she stayed out of major trouble he was willing not to rain on her parade.
“If we’re not sure whether the city up north is dangerous or not, it would probably be wise to send in this guy.” Lucian said, pointing at James. “He’s combat-suited and very skilled in diplomacy.” As he suggested this, Lucian pushed up his glasses and kept his unoccupied hand inside of his coat pocket. “What do you say, James, wanna take the role I would usually take?”

| "Uh..." As sergeant sourpuss chewed them out over nothing, Alice would subtly adjust her scarf to hide the swiftly spreading scowl that had begun to overtake her face. Seriously, what was this guy's deal? You'd think he'd be grateful that Seekers were willing to flock en masse to aid him out of the kindness of their hearts, but apparently she had gotten the wrong impression of "military-types" from James. It was refreshing when compared to blind obedience, sure, though that didn't change the fact that she was starting to wish she was still upstairs in her cozy room at home... Still, it was an interesting opportunity and she couldn't deny that the prospect of seeing a literal whole new world was overflowing with the promise of excitement. Besides that, however, she didn't have much of a choice when Lucian and the others wanted to come along. The tendencies of edgy teenagers aside, the words from that recording hadn't passed from her mind. They kept echoing in her head again and again as they drew closer to the surface of Permanence... "The worlds he has touched are doomed, your homes are doomed, any world you call home after this is doomed, and each world Junction flees to only spreads the plague." It wasn't something she could ignore -- not when it was the driving force behind her presence here. It was possible everything would be fine, but she didn't want to take any chances. If the mission turned out alright then she wanted to see it turn out alright. With her own eyes. It was no different than with the Horsemen. This was her choice and she had no intention of letting her father put his life on the line while she sat back wasting away alone. Now that she had the power to change things it'd be a betrayal of all she stood for if she refused to put it to use. So, here she was, surrounded by semi-familiar faces and some random blonde guy about her age. "Well, how would we even go about greeting them again? The, uh, Babel Field is just contained to Junction if I remember correctly so... Do they speak English? And for that matter, will we even be able to understand each other if we can't rely on it or some other method of translating?" She assumed that there was some sort of measure in place if it was necessary, but she didn't know what that was, so it seemed to be in their self-interest to get that explanation out of the way before they landed. - Relevant(?) Strengths/Weaknesses:
—Strength Name: Clever —Description: Alice isn't necessarily a genius, but she does have above average intelligence and tends to do well at confronting puzzles and other problems that require a logical answer. Combined with the state-of-the-art weeaboo technology that is her soulbond weapon, she's more than capable of installing a third node into her blade and can thereby take advantage of an additional slot.
—Weakness Name: Cynical —Description: Perhaps pessimistic is too harsh a word, but it shouldn't be any surprise that Alice isn't a particularly happy-go-lucky person considering the environment she grew up in and the revelations she's learned over the years. Everywhere she goes people look like machines to her and their words ring ever so slightly hollow no matter how much genuine passion or emotion rests behind them. Overall it could be said that life has largely lost its sense of magic for her and consequentially she deals 10% less damage with any magic-based attacks.
—Weakness Name: Xenophilia —Description: Ironically enough, beneath the surface Alice isn't as patriotic as you'd expect her to be. What she learned about her country and the world she lived in as a whole has severed a gigantic portion of the connection she felt to it. Even before learning about the Liber Gene's existence and the state of America though, she maintained a healthy interest in foreign cultures, although it's much more intense now than it ever was before. Since almost everyone in Junction comes from a different culture than she's used to, Charm skills have an extra 5% chance of success against her. In addition, her initial unfamiliarity with these cultures and their technology means she can only equip nodes up to tier 2.
—Weakness Name: Determinism —Description: The only thing that kept Alice from being brainwashed by the Horsemen of the Genesis was the Liber Gene. If it weren't for this gene of hers, her mind would have been altered just like everyone else's and she'd be an obedient machine with no freedom to speak of whatsoever. It's a terrifying thought, but... even more frightening to her is the implications of it. A single recessive genome was what decided her fate from the moment of her birth, so without the genetic layout she had, she would have turned out an entirely different person from who she is today. This thought haunts her everywhere she goes and deep down inside she fears that no one has free will, that regardless of the Liber Gene's existence and the Horsemen's actions everyone's fates are already written and all that occurs is preordained. She doesn't want that to be true, she NEEDS it not to be true, and if someone manages to convince her that it's really the case then she'd likely cease to function and fall into a downward spiral of depression... and that's the best case scenario in that event.

| "Mmmm..." Giving her best efforts not to become overwhelmed with emotion again, Lilly would stare out with wide eyes as they were lowered towards the new world below. It was so different and odd looking than her own world and was the first place she would of ever even tried to venture to since arriving on Junction. This fact, alongside the recent events that had unfolded left the girl with a great sense of excitement and fear. Though currently, if you looked at her face. The look of excitement seemed to be winning her over for the moment. "Yes sir." Lilly would say respectfully, bowing her head slightly as their escort told them that they were the boss of them whilst down there. She didn't mind this fact at all, and in fact found some reassurance in it. Hopefully that would at least mean they had an experienced eye looking after them incase anything did go wrong or she didn't know what to do within some unknown situation. This fact alone was probably what was making her more excited than fearful, if she had to try to figure this all out on her own down there she'd definitely be having a much harder time to not be freaking out. "I'll stay out of the way and only help when needed." The young dog-like being would nod politely again to her new boss. "I just have two questions, what do the inhabitance of this world look like? And will they find us weird looking?" She was fairly certain the last question would be a yes, for her at least... | |

| "... Mm... Wow, this is boring..." To be blunt, Cassiel really didn't care about all these commands. Like, did they really need to be told what to do every three seconds? He was a Pendragon after all, he knew nothing awful and gruesome and terrible would happen on this trip. Really, you'd think he'd have more respect for being in the presence oh wait yeah there was that whole ordeal that happened with the death and demons and yeeeeeeeah... Huh... He hoped that they'd be able to clear their name... After all, such doom and such an impossible event... Would people really have listened to them to begin with?
Anyways, regardless, he really didn't care what happened and anything about questions. He didn't really think he would be all that helpful aside from his empathy. Oh, maybe that was why he was asked to come along! Yeah, he could be like an emotional magnet to tell them which people were better to talk too! After all, giant tower of foredoom and danger appearing out of nowhere... Huh, yeah, they were totally invaders coming to rape, pillage, and destroy. Neh, well, at least he had Raziel as an excuse to stay far away from all the violence.

| "Someone is in a grumpy mood today." James let out a chuckle after having whispered that to Alice and Lucian, it should be clear that he was drunk from the odor of alcohol in his breath. He had promised he wouldn't be drinking heavily again but... fuck that. J.U.L.I.A was distressed by the condition, concerned for his safety and that he might jeopardize the mission in the current state.
"Mr. Smith, the alcohol in your blood stream is too high right now! Should i turn on the inhibitors?"
She was given nothing but a cold shoulder, James was currently focused on F’Xiong right now. His behavior was very reminiscent of some soldiers who had received his aid during his time in the war. The "I don't need these super enhanced newcomer!" act, which he could understand despite being on the side of the superpowered soldier twice.
"No questions from me, pal." He let out a sight and scratched the back of his head, nothing he could do about the man's attitude right now.

| "Well Back in the old days we'd use the old universal greeting, Baweep Granaw Weep Niniba... But now a days we use these," F'Xiong reached for a small device hanging from the wall of the transport and gave it a quick toss before catching it and presenting it to the group. The device resembled a choker with large beads around the band. "Cwis, you awake in there? Mind filling these kids in?" "Oh of course Mr.F'Xiong! Howdy everyone." A small Cwis would appear from the centerpiece on the device with a happy swish and twirl. "What the good officer is holding is known as the Portable Babel System. It ensures the ease of communication during surface missions off Junction! It has an effective range of slightly over 100 standard units, it also has a direct link to the main Cwis system if you have any questions for me! And might I say I-" Cwis's speech was cut short by F'Xiong flipping the device over and severing the connection. "Get it? Good. As for the natives, far as we can figure the ones in the village are standard Human bipeds with the occasional Chimerical Bi and Quadruped, no cast system has been seen so far between the Human and Chimera, so don't worry miss, you won't stand out to much." The Transport would shake violently for a second before coming to a rest at the base of the tower. "We've arrived..." A light hissing sound would fill the camber before bathing the group in the bright natural light of Permanence. "Alright boys and girls, here's where we get off. The other transports should be arriving about now. Anyone who wants to go to the southern village form on me and await further instructions. The group headed north is forming a bit down the path on the right, you can't miss it. I need at least one of you freeks with me though, and the north team has a seeker with em already so don't feel obligated. Choose quickly... We're headed out soon." F'xiong quickly stood and hopped down from the transport and left without another word, leaving the group to their own devices. | |

| So many questions for what should be a simple job...it was almost like other people in the group cared about more than the paycheck. Eh, at least there had been answers. Somewhat. About as helpful as could be expected, Azul supposed. He shook his head, holding back a huff.
Freaks, huh? Azul thought that rather rich, all things considered. Still, he gave F'Xiong a nod. "Understood. I'll follow you." Azul stated. Why not? The other group already had a Seeker, and besides, exploration was exploration. As long as he got payed at the end of the day, it didn't really matter to him. Some of the others seemed to know each other anyway, so he decided it was probably a good idea to stay away from them. After all, with how 'charming' F'Xiong had been, Azul figured there would be few other takers for going off with him.
"You can call me Azul. I guess." He offered, mostly for the other Seekers. Normally he didn't even share his fake name but...hell, he'd probably never see/talk to these people again. It didn't really matter to him. He took a step towards F'Xiong, the closest thing to 'forming up' he was willing to do.

| “A portable Babel Field? Interesting…” Lucian rubbed his chin in contemplation as the group continued to descend more and more. “I’ll need to thank CWIS for her service later.” He mused as the pod made its final descent into Permanent ground. The sight of another world… it was breathtaking, to say the least, only amplified by the fact that he’d always enjoyed nature at its core. The air here was… weird; It didn’t feel incorrect to breathe it, but somehow Lucian was still able to tell it wasn’t the air of his olden home. The man took in a deep, loud breath of fresh air before sighing it out in an equally vigorous manner. Out of all the many things that faced him, it was nothing other than the air and how it felt to breathe it that pushed the point home: this was another world.
“If the North Team already has two seekers, then I believe I’ll be helping out South team.” The president commented as he took his first steps outside of the pod, feeling the consistency of the ground beneath his shoes; that seemed like a sensible enough decision to him. "What about the rest of you?"

| That answered that then. Alice wouldn't comment on the Portable Bable System any further seeing that there were no more questions she had to offer... that and this guy's general mood left her with the impression that he might have a hair-trigger temper. The grumpiness he exuded was suffocating, so when they landed and he departed to give them time to make their decisions it felt like a breath of fresh air (far moreso than the literal breath of fresh air the planet had to offer anyway). "I'll head south too then. We should probably have at least one of us go to the north though... Just in case." She didn't clarify, but it'd probably be clear to the rest of the group what she meant by that. After all, everyone besides that blonde haired boy had been by her side during the Failed Jump, and he was already set on joining up with the south team from the looks of it. Personally, Alice herself was a bit curious as to what the north had to offer, but if Lucian desired to go to the village then she wouldn't protest. Part of the reason she had joined this mission in the first place was to make sure nothing happened to her family, so it'd be foolish to separate over mere paranoia and interest. | |

| Having her attention taken away from the fantastical sight seeing she was experiencing as their ride lowered to the ground, Lilly would focus on what CWIS had to say with interest. Jumping quite suddenly as the Bable System was swiftly slammed shut once more. The girl would gulp nervously yet nod appreciatively as F'Xiong answered her question. Honestly she was a little intimidated by the guy, just his presence was a little overwhelming for her even if she was trying to act friendly regardless. In a way that made her not want to go with him, though on the other hand he was the only one here who properly knew what he was doing...
Pulling a lightly worried face, Lilly would listen to the those who had decided what they were doing already... With all of them wanting to stay here on the south side with F'Xiong. "Uuhhh..." She'd begin, still trapped in thought over what she actually wanted to do here. In one way, yes she wanted to be away from that guy, but in another she didn't want to venture out on her own to something... Possibly much worse. "I'll... Do whichever is best in your opinion, sir." Lilly would finally say after some hesitation. "I'll either stay with you guys, o-or go help the north team... A-as long as someone else from here comes with me up there too." She'd quickly add the last part before letting out a short nervous laugh and scratching her ear with one paw to try to comfort herself. What was she signing herself up for...

| Cassiel would look around the area for a moment, humming gently to himself. Really, he didn't see a huge reason why they needed to split up. Couldn't smoke head over here just go and help out this third team? Well, regardless, he'd just glance over to Lucian and await for him to say something. Really, if he wanted his opinion he'd need to ask because the empath wasn't really too keen on going to help out people he didn't know. Jeez, what if they hated his family for what happened too? Mm...
"Hey Lucy! Tell me what to do, okay?" he'd say with a happy grin across his face. Honestly, this seemed like the best decision. If he was told to go somewhere specific, then he wouldn't be at fault for the consequences to come!

| "Babel, like the Tower of Babel...? Actually, never mind. Thanks for the PBS" Knowing how Junction operates it was probably something else entirely that gave origin to the device's name. Also, he did not want to talk more than necessary with that grump of a fire man, he felt like he could easily trigger his fiery temperament... Heheh. "Welcome to the team, Kid. I'm James. He replied to the blonde boy named Azul... what's with all the children anyways? At least this one was normal, like Alice.
"I'll be heading north then." James would be carefully calibrating his robotic appendages, with J.U.L.I.A aiding through an UI on his glasses of course.
"Stay safe, people."The AI interjected, wanting to show her concern and care for the team.

| The south bound group, should they not get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the expedition teams, would find their randevu point fairly simply, they only need fallow the smoke from their CO. Gathered around them would be several beings of various species, all of which dressed in some manner of combat gear. All gathered around where F'xiong stood at the entrance to the woods. "Alright boys, the mission is simple, standard recon mission. We do not engage and we do not approach. The approach team should be arriving here shortly to, ah, speak of the devil. Introduce your selves Seekers..." Every eye or equivalent organ would fall upon the group of Seekers as they approached, each scrutinizing them in their own way. Low murmurs in the crowd would be fairly audible as the Recon team sized up their newest additions. Once the group introduced themselves the Recon team would wordlessly turn their attention back to their CO. "Don't pay them no mind." F'Xiong said, to whom was up to interpretation. "You Seekers are going to be acting as the first contact team, by the orders of Lady Anabel herself... You're job is simple, you enter the village first and present a peaceful greeting, explain who and what the hell you and the giant ass tower behind you are, and make sure the natives aren't hostile. If you're wondering why you lot got the short end of the stick here, it's cause if things go south you're little psychic do dads will do a hell of a lot more then our pop guns." F'xiong would pause to take a short drag from his cigar and blow a small smoke ring. "But don't worry though, we'll be waiting at the tree line in case you need us, and we'll know if you need us... Got it? Good, now lets head out." With little more then a group "OoRah!" The southern team was on their way. === As the northern team continued to their rally point, the unmistakable smell of rotting flesh would begin to permeate the air. At first it was subtle but the closer they got the stronger the stench became, untill it became painfully clear from whom the smell originated. "I'm telling you, the lifeism has only gotten worse sense we got to Permanence. Every other day I get rocks chucked at me by some concerned gentlemen cursing my name and calling me a mutant. I dare say I am at my wits end! Hm? Oh you must be the rest of our Seekers! Good to meet you, my name is Gnar." The talking corps and the young woman he was speaking to would turn to the group as they approached. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances. May I ask your names?" Gnar would wait a moment to hear the groups introductions before continuing. "Yes, as I said my name is Gnar, and this is my companion Stephanie. She is a Seeker like you all.""Hi! My names's Steph, but my friends call me Damsel, you can to if you like." "Yes, now, down to the task at hand. As you already know we are tasked with investigating the city to the north. It is vastly more technologically advanced than the settlement to the south and as a result of much greater strategic value, however it also poses a far greater threat should the inhabitants of this world be hostile. As such we will be taking a smaller team to the walls of this great city to scout out any possible threats to Junction. Simple enough yes? You Seekers will be tasked with keeping me and my men safe as we conduct our investigation. Understood?" Gnar would wait only a moment for a response before quickly continuing. "Bully! We set out at once! I will fetch my men!"Damsel would giggle slightly as she watched the man shamble off "Don't worry, you get used to the smell...or so I'm told, my species never evolved a sense of smell. Hehe, come on! We shouldn't keep Gnar waiting." With that, Damsel would happily skip off, simply expecting the group to follow. === The trek through the woods would prove very uneventful for the South group. The soldiers would be professional and answer any questions the group had on their way, however once they reached the clearing in which the village lay, the soldiers would stop and usher the group forward. From within the town the group could hear the sounds of day to day life, the chatting of neighbors and the singing of children. How they approached the town would be up to them. === The walls that the northbound group found themselves at were mind mindbogglingly immense. Though, from how close they had gotten without seeing a single soul, it was clearly very under guarded. The air around them would be thick with smog and smoke. Gnar, while having a few ideas of his own on how to proceed, turned first to his Seekers to gain their input on what they should do first. | |
