Girls Beat Boys [Ree]

Things were starting to get a bit dangerous, and Gabe honestly felt that he wouldn't last too long in the night activities if he didn't build himself. It was important to know at least a bit of self-defense that didn't have anything to do with setting things on fire. At the very least, he felt that he should be under the care of a professional. That's why Gabe found himself at the Ori-Shiki Dojo.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" Gabe would say as he let himself in with a platic bag in one hand and a gym back in another.

It was a silent place. Many would feel like it was empty, but one cannot mistake that it had an air of solemness inside. It wasn't like a church by any means, but there was a sereneness in here from the quiet. It would take a moment until Gabriel heard some footsteps ahead of him. Eventually, someone popped out garbed in a karate gi and black belt. It was a woman, but she seemed rather confident of her own self. "Hey there! You just came here after the last afternoon class. Did you come here to train?"

"Oh, ahh... hi. Yes, I came here to train with you if that's alright. You are the grandmaster of this dojo, am I correct?" Gabe would say as he made a sharp bow towards her with the things still in his hand. "My name is Gabe gatsby, and I come bearing a gift. " Reaching into his black bag, Gabe offered her a can of coconut water. " I heard that it's really good with electrolyte replacements Well, Gabe didn't really know if it would work with anything, but he still thought it would be a tasty and healthy drink.

"Oh, no! I'm just one of the instructors. The master is out at the moment. It's mostly me taking care of this place for him. He checks around from time to time, but you can catch him later," she supplied readily, "It's nice to meet you too, Gabriel. I'm Ree Claire, you can call me Ree. And uh... thanks."

She took the the can from him. It was obvious that she wasn't quite sure what to make of this. It was nice of him to give her a gift as a greeting. But they just met and there really wasn't such a need to go that far and it was somewhat of a strange gift to hand. Though perhaps he's just a little bit odd and probably has a thing about being more than necessarily polite.

Ree tried to changed the subject, "Um, would you like to look around before signing up or anything of that nature?"

"Oh, were you willing to give me a free tour? that sounds pretty nice of you, sure!" Gabe would say as he agreed to the notion of tagging along with her. "so, you said that the master was out for a while, right? But still, you must be pretty skilled to be one of the well-trusted instructions if the place. What do you specialize in? Also, what is your master like? Personality wise?"

Maybe it was a bit too much to ask for, but Gabe was planning on spending money here. If that was the case, he wanted to make sure that it was, in fact, worth coming here. "Oh, and don't mind the gift. It's hot outside, iwouldnt think that a small treat as a greeting would hurt.

"A lot of things. We have other instructors of different styles willing to teach you. What are you looking for?" She wasn't quite sure to make of his explanation, but didn't make more of a fuss out of it while tucking the can in her arms. Since they received a potentially new student, it was up to Ree to introduce him to the entirety of the area. "Well... he's kind of distant. But he's fair. He's just busy nowadays."

She began to lead him around the place, showcasing its facilities. It was well-furnished in that it had all of the necessities of a training facility as well as a place to learn the movements of various styles. It was indeed a place to accommodate many kinds of people and martial systems. There was even a mishmash of a boxing gym and a dojo in one area to a weightlifting area with an obstacle course.

Her visitor, even with any lack of martial prowess, could easily come to a conclusion that he would almost find nothing lacking. That said, it was currently empty right now, probably due to the earlier classes having ended. "We don't have many people coming in during the morning hours, but it's a good time to train one-on-one with the masters. So what do you think so far?"

What was he looking for? Gabe wasn't expecting this to be one of the harder questions that the instructor could ask him. What exactly was he looking for? "I want a way to protect myself to the fullest extent of my abilities. For a guy like me, I won't always have someone who's well off by my side, I think i's about time that I learn to fend for myself in that way, just in case. "

They continued the tour, leaving gabe impressed at the fact that everything seemed so advanced. It seemed that they were willing to cater to any style. "I think it's pretty great, mornings are more my thing if I could do a bit of a one on one training session. Also, curious, but what kind things do you specialize in? Was it hard for you to pick up?"

"I handle things like the sword, but I can do pretty much most styles. Took some time, but I got a hang of it," Ree nonchalantly supplied. She eventually led him to what looked like a traditional dojo area fit with its polished wooden floors. She took a look around and stretched out her arms a bit before looking back at him, "Now when you said you wanted learn a few things, you want to try sparring a bit? It could be a good diagnostic of what you could want and see where you really are."

"That's a bit curious, the sword in a modern era like this? I'm almost afraid to ask when you have the time to put it in practical use, but there are always things like national fencing contests. " Gabe wanted to say something about fruit ninja, but he didn't think that she would like his lighthearted jokes too much. Though, she did offer a chance for Gabe to spar with her. "Spar? With you? For free? Are you sure?"

Gabe would say as he placed the bag down, still a bit nervous. "So what am I supposed to do, just attack you or something?

Jokes? Ree's lips flitted into a smirk as she shrugged. But she took a rather neutral posture while observing his appearance. It was easy to note that he didn't seem very confident, but that's why he was here for, right? "Pretty much. Go for it, I can take it."

She even motioned him to begin with her hand.

"Alright....... here I go...." Gabe took a bit of a stance as he started to circle a little bit around Ree a bit. Afterward, Gabe would then rush in and throw two quick jabs at Ree. A right straight would be aimed at her face and the left jab would be aimed at her stomach. Much to Gabe's credit, he was pretty dexterous when it came to his hands, so hopefully one of them would land. On top of that, Ree would also notice that Gabe didn't hold back too much, realizing that she would have probably taken offense to it since she was a woman.

Though anyone that's able to be a trainer was a master in their own right, and Gabe wasn't going to make light of it.

Strength

She appreciated that this man took her a bit seriously unlike the others. Ree had to prove herself to many beginners that even the opposite sex are capable of handling themselves. As a result, not many wanted to continue to practice here. But, despite Gabriel's attempt to take her seriously, it wasn't going to end as well as he would've thought.

She merely sidestepped to her right with the incoming punches as she saw through them. Even despite doing something relative to a jab or a straight punch, it wasn't hard for her to read his movements since she saw his intentions to strike from the moving shift of his shoulders and hips.

As he punched, he would've inevitably be forced to step forward. The moment when he punched and when his leading foot was going to land forward and right after she dodged, Ree did a nimble quick sidesweep on his rear ankle to force him to drop on his back as she made a firm slap on to his shoulder to further unbalance him.

Gabe had no real reason of being surprised at the result of how it all went down, but being tipped over by himself was a little embarrassing, to say the least. Laying down on the floor, Gabe basically blinked a few times in order to assess the situation and register exactly what happened to him ”huh?” After that, Gabe got up and decided to take a fighting stance again. “I’m not done yet!” Of course, Gabe wasn’t going to give up, so he rushed in again to grab Ree by the hips and perform something to a judo hip toss. He wasn’t too experienced in any martial art, but he had the right idea at least when it came to doing something akin to a hip toss.

Like last time, by observing his posture, it was easy to read how he was moving his body. If he was trying to grab her hips, it meant that he needed to lean forward to do so since they had quite the height difference between them, with Ree being five feet and seven inches. Because of that, she grabbed his approaching head and pushed him further down while sliding back to avoid his hips, forcing both of his hands to meet the floor instead. And of course, Ree simply moved back to avoid being grabbed or being touched for that matter.

It was clear that he was inexperienced, but he had a lot of energy. Yet there can only be a limit to that even for the most durable of people. On the other hand, Ree kept her movements efficient and simple while conserving her energy.

Another faceplant, today really wasn't Gabe's day. After quickly getting up from being on the floor, Gabe turned away a bit in embarrassment. "Ok, i think that's enough for now, you certainly made it apparent that there is a wide gap in ability when it comes to the experienced and the unknowledgeable. " Afterwards, Gabe then gave a sharp bow to her in a way that student would give to their senior in the martial arts world. "Thanks for taking the time to spar with me, it was a bit more of a practical approach than the other tours I had. Though, i think i'd like to settle on this place.
