This is my corner. My interactive blog on my current thoughts on today, tomorrow, and yesteryears. Also my personal opinion on things regardless of if its the site, people, or mundane tasks of life.
So I start my day off like the average woman who hates doing anything with their life: With the snooze button. I press it atleast 3 times forcing me to set it earlier than the time I really need to be waking up. My boyfriend gets up before me and has to call me to make sure I'm awake, and I appreciate it. When it comes to New Arcana? I check it here and there. Depending on what's going on I sign in or ask Essay if he wants to handle it himself. That's my boo, I think he'd burn this place to the ground if I asked nice enough. Much love.
So, I think I can pretend to be an adult pretty well. I put my shoes on right (half the time) and I drive to work like a responsible adult. But when I get off and get home, there's a few things I like to do. First thing is first, kick my shoes off. Second thing is second; bury myself in my love seat. Then, browse the world wide web of despair. Of course New Arcana is on my list of places to visit, though it's not first anymore.
I bet you're wondering what does Phile think of New Arcana? Hmm, I think of this place as a nice escape to things. Well, half the time. I enjoy making stories, and every NPC I've made is a facet of myself. From Lisa's try hardness, to Julius putting up a front to cover true less than ordinary desires, it's all me. When it comes to Endymion, I made this plot based on myself, surprisingly. Persona was a perfect facet to let it out. I wear a mask every day at work. Hell, even a smile is a mask, you know? I wanted to make a plot that was a reflection of the true me, and the me I put on for show. The nice woman on the outside that followed the rules, and the more irritable person beneath that shell. I did get inspiration of Persona 5, but the concept of this new plot was already on these boards before we got more details about Persona 5. But it definitely helped me pull it all together into a nice little bundle.
When it comes to the member base of New Arcana, what comes to mind first... Umm, I'd say the early days of high school. People trying to fit in where they can, making alliances and taking a game/life way too seriously. You'll learn, when you actually experience life on your own, the small things that bother you here are put into perspective. No life should revolve around their roleplay experience, but instead should influence their experience and how they wish to express themselves. I split up the member base by this, and you can say I'm wrong but we all know it's the truth.
Ueitawa - Dawn of New Arcana - Kinda like the area it took place in, the site was rather calm and collected. No arguments save for a few squabbles between Kogami and maybe other NCs for not getting along and teaming up like the PUs. But it never escalated too much more. They were patient. We were a dawning site and alot of systems changed from day one till the end of the plot, in terms of battle and character progression. They knew to be patient, and they were pretty understanding. Hell, Kogami even on his worst day never blamed the rules and went with his situation in strides. I respected that, which is why he's one of my favorite members to date even though we hardly talk. Love you, Boo~
We went through Ueitawa and hit the end of it, not getting the best ending, but still didn't complain from the mistakes that were made. Safi literally sacrificed her character so everyone didn't die by Limbo, and that was cool. They learned from their mistakes and looked towards the next plot to not make the same mistakes. They didn't moan, groan, or attack staff. And even when staff made mistakes, there were friendly reminders to let us know when something messed up. After all, this place is ran by humans not machines. Sometimes it needs to be oiled up though but things were abit calmer and I interacted abit more with the member base. It was like.. college in terms of schooling years.
Azores - The blooming ages - So we were a flower at this point and got alot of buzz. More people starting coming here, which was pretty cool. Of course this second plot, Grantus took the lead of things and I took a back seat. As you know, I want more leaders to step up and try their hand at running plots. Endymion will be my last plot here, and I'll pass the keys on to you all for who you want running your plots. But back to the point, we got alot of new faces in Azores.
Now many of you probably don't know this, but Grantus had the HARDEST time when he just came to the site. Literally almost all of his characters had an untimely death or demise. But did he complain? No, he looked to fix mistakes he made with the next character and continued on. So if you have a problem with him, or think he's ever done something unfairly, know that he's been there and he knows the struggle. And just like me, he's human too. Maybe used to be alittle bit nicer than me, but probably hardened now and I don't blame em.
Azores in itself I didn't keep up with majorly, but I could tell it made things abit more lax and easy. He was a new DM so it was all new to him, and thus he didn't know where the difficulty should be. So there were spikes in difficulty in places where it probably didn't belong, but once again, he was new. The problem with that was, the majority of his players were also new aswell. They weren't here during the building process of Ueitawa so they didn't see the process of how we usually did things. It was a very lax site with a lax community that grew with the staff. Around this time, I noticed a change in that.
There was a distinct barrier being put up between the staff and the member base, as if choosing sides in a west side story. Thus the division began. Also, no offence to our younger members, but this was when our site started getting a younger generation of players and we entered the highschool years. College to High School, what a twist.
Since Grantus was rather new, I'd say he didn't pull everyone in line in what to expect in his plot, so things started getting chaotic. That's what happens though when new DMs come in, so people needed to understand that. Pfft, they didn't.
Endymion - The Current Engine - So I came back for Endymion, as I saw as the member base changed and grew, it wouldn't grow with the site anymore. We needed more defined rules and clarifications for other staff members coming onto the team and how we were evolving. So I revamped everything from the bottom up the best I could, but of course I don't get everything nor am I perfect, which is why the other staff members and member base is there to assist.
Now I always appreciate feedback. But here's how feedback works. You experience something, you give feedback off that experience. The moment I said there would be social qualities to determine your character's presence in the world, and also to prevent prodigies, there was a huge negative feed back. Without even experiencing the system, people complained and complained and complained.
That was utterly ridiculous, and that's when I noticed first hand what kind of community I had here. One that would rather complain before hand instead of experience something and give feedback to change like my Ueitawa cast did that helped me so much. Now not all of you have that problem, but the large majority do. And when I came back, I tried to interact abit more with the community to see what was up. Huge mistake. Drama filled mods who have to write essays on how they don't like the member base. The member base writing essays on how much they don't like the staff.
People forgetting that the line between staff and members aren't that big in the first place. You all split yourselves down the middle in the most ridiculous way, then complain about it like someone else came in and told you to sit on the opposite sides of the bus. So silly, so dumb, so hilariously ridiculous.
This site builds upon itself, and if you have a problem with something then yes of course let staff know. There's good ways and bad ways to address something. For one, stay calm lol. Know that, once again, they are human. When a bunch of people are barking at someone, do you think it's going to be easy to process it all and pass it along properly to the whole team to discuss? No.
Pull a staff member aside, and give them your case and examples of how the system needs to be reworked. Have them bring it up in the staff room and they'll talk about it and present an answer to you as soon as they can. But hitting one guy with complaints and expecting a good answer without him talking with the rest of his team is lol silly. Don't be silly.
But now I'm bored talking about this site...
Speaking of silly things, have you ever gone to the gym and forgotten your shoes? I've done it once and never heard the end of it. Man talk about a pain in the butt. Never do that, k?
OH! I didn't talk about Endy much right? Soooo, you probably see my posting may take some time most the time. I doooo see it's my post, but I wait abit to see if anyone squeezes in. I can't staaaand posting introductions, then having to re-do introductions cause someone joins the topic later. It's like jeeeez, I gave ya four days, ya know? Also Godai if I hear about you asking if I'm going to post today again I will personally ban you and abuse my powers. You've been warned. LOSER!
Who's my fave NPC in the Endymion plot, you've asked? No it's not Raidou Kuzunoha; I added her because Essay was in love with the series. The Letter E is my fave. She's a member of Infinite Jest and has been shown a few times. I'd like to say she's my free spirit in a more chaotic form. I do look forward to when she appears more, but sadly there are two other letters before her that cause abit more chaos before she gets active.
Bet you're wondering what I have in store for the missions that send you to Azores and Ueitawa respectively.
Well for Azores the Cadets will have to put on their investigative hats and solve a murder mystery. The mission will be called Azores Peaks. Think Twin Peaks and Deadly Premonition. Weird situation and all. You'll be tasked with bringing in characters from the Azores plot for questioning. Why not harass your previous characters alittle?
For Ueitawa, you'll be teaming up with Aburai and Natashi's kids to perform a high scale heist. Think Ocean's 11, and it'll be up to you to choose who you want to bring on your team out of the NPCs that bring their own set of skills to the table. The NPCs will be legacy characters and maybe even some of the cast from our first plot.
Ummmm I'm getting called away for work.. soooo I'll be baaaack. Say whatever you want in my little corner here, I don't give any fuks about it.
