| "What the hell am I even doing here."
It was the only thing running through Mary's mind as she sat idly on the bar stool. She slammed back another shot of whiskey and savored the sensation as it burned its way down her throat. Thank goodness she could still savor liquor, even if the stuff didn't do much for her as far as intoxication.
"I'll take another," she smiled slyly at the barman, "I need something harder though. Got anything hard I could have, darling?" With thousands of years of practiced precision, she let her mouth purse every so slightly.
"I, uh, I don't... how's a Jack Daniels sound?" the clearly uncomfortable bartender managed to stammer. Oh this was so fun. Toying with these people brought her such joy, even if the rest of this place left a bitter taste in her mouth. In fact, she didn't even bother with the normal routine. Instead, she allowed him to fetch her drink with no more flirtation than a simple, "He sounds delicious."
She didn't know what it was about this town, but something was wrong. Her cousin's servants had led her here because of rumors of strange goings-on within the city. But from the moment she set foot in the city, a feeling of unease enveloped her. Like she wasn't supposed to be here.
Oh well, she mused. At least the bartender's married. If she could drag him home tonight it's sure to sow some discord here.

| Sada walked inside the bar with a red dress shirt and some sort of black vest covering the front. He was also wearing some sort of slacks and shoes. It looked business casual at best, he just got finished with meeting with the coach of the national azores team, and things were looking pretty good. Sada was ready to sign at any time, but they still weren't sure about his physical therapy progress and think it's too short to have him do anything dramatic for now. " Tch...." Well that sucked, now what? "Sada was in a bad mood, the contract should be given to him immediately, he doesn't need any more medical evaluations. After abruptly walking in, Sada would take a seat at the front of the bar and sit next so some woman. But Sada didn't have any time for their flirting. "Hey, ditch the milf and give me some service here. "Maybe it was an impulsive reaction, but he needed something heavy and he needed it now, he was seconds away from hopping over the counter and helping himself. Weakness - Spoiler:
—Weakness Name: Impulsive desire —Description: It's probably in Sada's nature to be impulsive towards a certain degree. It's almost as if it's a dominant feeling that he has to act on when he feels it gnawing at him, leaving Sada to cater to it in any way that he can

| Oh look. Another fucking human. It's like this planet was crawling with them, and this one didn't seem to be any different. Fine then, little bastard. If he wanted to play that game, then so could she.
"Oh my," she feigned an offense far more dainty than the fury that hid within, "Don't you have somewhere else to be? A 'milf.' I never. I'll have you know I've never mothered any children. Although your desire to fuck me is duly noted, young man. Play your cards and I might even let you try."
What was this little bastard thinking, seriously? Sure, this area of town was nowhere near as rough as Lumiere, but running his mouth like that could easily get his ass kicked even if it weren't her. Still, this could turn up fun all the same. Perhaps she could have a go at two poor saps in one night? Besides, kids like this always had a little spunk in them. Maybe she could foster him towards the self-destruction that all humans, especially teenagers, were prone to.
"This little man has guts. I'll tell you what, Ricky..." "It's James" "Whatever. I'll tell you what Ricky. Put the little man's first one on me. We'll see if he leaves here tonight with a lady or in the company of a bunch of angry drunks."
Or maybe even in a body bag? Were it so easy

| "Gross, what are you? Three-times my age with quite the mouth of a 90's porn star? You're out of you're league......" Sada would then stare at her. " If i really wanted you, i could have you. That's how it is for everything, as long as it's something I want....." Except the goddamn soccer contract. Sada was a bit abrupt and he was hitting his cranky phase most definitely. Who was this woman anyway? Regardless of how she looked, Sada was simply not in the mood right now. Bothering him before he even got a drink wouldn't leave the best impression, or circumstances. Though, This woman was generous enough to buy sada a drink. He wasn't amused...." Point proven, i wanted a drink, and now I have it... don't expect me to pay you back..." Sada said simply as he downed the entire thing in one shot and breathed out heavily. "Jack Daniels? The only ounce of class you showed all night, you should give yourself a pat on the back. " People, they were annoyances. They weren't important, not one. Weakness - Spoiler:
—Weakness Name: Greed —Description: Sada's greed is a double edge sword, he doesn't believe in equivalent exchange and feels as if he can hoard his destiny all to himself. He wants everything, everyone he cares about or grows to care about, everything he holds dear, and everything he wanted or feels as if he wanted, with no intention whatsoever of sacrificing anything else for it.

| This pretentious little bastard! She had to admire his guts, if not his brains. She chortled to herself at his little comebacks and quips. Oh this was precious. And so exploitable. She pondered for a moment to herself whether or not the boy actually believed he was the only one with his personality type to frequent places like this. She didn't ponder long. One hardly needed centuries of experience manipulating humans to see this one's primary flaw: arrogance. Finally, she opened her mouth
"Oh my. Jack Daniels? Classy? I'm afraid not, little man. You're going to have to slam a lot more than one of those shots into this counter before you expect me to be impressed. How many of these can you handle, pretty-boy? I can keep them coming, and trust me when I say that money is not an issue."
The little sap didn't need to know that she'd likely gotten some of that money exploiting friends. Although to be frank, it was hard to see him actually having any friends, given his current standoffish attitude. Regardless, she'd already pinned him. Athletic build, bad attitude, but lacking all the vigor of your typical jock type. Oh yeah, this kid was a burnout. She'd seen a million.
"Barkeep. Four more," she barked at the man as she slapped several bills on the table. He took them all, adding the excess to the tab she'd no doubt rack up tonight. She turned to Sada and raised an eyebrow. "So, you got it in you? Because let me tell you, kid. Whatever you're compensating for won't help you drink me under the table." She gave off a small smirk that belied her inner glee. "Oh, can I guess?" she faked excitement, "Uhm... Girlfriend dumped you? Didn't get into the school you wanted? Oh, or maybe, and stop me if I get it, you somehow managed to screw up a sports career, of all things."
That would be the button. If she would get a rise out of him, she imagined that might start it. Screw getting this little bastard in bed and dumping him in a sewer somewhere. She didn't want to hurt him physically. Now she was gunning for his emotions.

| "This woman...." There were like 100 ways to describe her, and each and every word wouldnt necessarily be the most fondest of descriptions. But she was so loud and talked alot about, what is she even talking about anyway? The thing about drinking is that it becomes hard to ignore people as soon as you have a few, your senses become a bit dulled. When she slapped four more on the table Sada only smirked, he wouldn't say no to free drinks. However, he wasn't going to play her game. " Thanks for the drinks, but I'll drink them when I want to, not on your time. Though, Sada was getting irritated with her constant guessing, mentioning his sports career was like a grater to his ear.
"You don't know a damn thing about me, worry about yourself. What are you? Some middle aged rich aristocrat that thinks using her money to fly to foreign and exotic places to bang random dudes at some sort of gutter bar in the middle of a swamp is the best way to utilize your time? If you're so easy, you arent worth mine. "Sada would say in a sense of finality as he downed another glass. "You talk such a big game, but this place is for drinking. I'm sure every other guy in this room would beg on their knees to get in your pants.

| She'd goaded a response, but not the one she'd expected. Damn. Her haste to see this boy driven to his knees had seen her act rashly. Instead of being driven into a rage or a pitiful submission, he had simply been driven to defiance. She should've seen it. The arrogance. The thuggish jock attitude. Teen rebel. He'd definitely screwed up something sports-related. That reaction confirmed it. But instead of opening him to further attacks, she'd caused him to recluse. Damn.
She huffed. "Please. I take offense," she frowned, "As if half of these troglodytes could handle half a second with me." Damn. Her real self was showing through. This needed to stop. She had to regain control of the situation.
"Think of it like a game, my dear," she managed, "Since you seem so intensely set on rebellion, I'll leave the choice completely to you. Join me if you will." It was a chore to hide her frustrations like that. Still... perhaps there was still some chance of goading him into drinking himself half to death, if nothing else.

| "Offense? You? I thought you were invincible? "Sada would say this passively as he started to feel the effects of the alochol kicking in. He didn't sway or anything like that, but he was definitely a bit more sedated after getting what h wanted. That and the fact that it was alochol."Join you? Well, as you can see..." Sada made a hand gesture towards the bar stool the woman was sitting on. "You are apparently in the middle of enjoying my company if you are so eager to buy me 6 drinks and attempt to seduce me into living out your 50 shades of gray fantasies. " Sada swayed, it was slight, but he did. "If money isn't an option, tell me this.... whats it like... to be able to have everything you want?" Did they even share a common ground? | |

| She sneered. It wasn't intentional, and she didn't have the excuse of being drunk, but she did it all the same. Anything she wanted, eh? "It's a double-edged sword, little man," she growled, "I doubt someone like you could understand, but life among people you despise is simply empty. Another round!" The bartender wearily slid her another Jack. He'd learned not to question her incredible alcohol consumption after the thirty-seventh shot when she'd remained lucid. "I don't know what you managed to do to piss your chances away, boy," the facade had faded almost entirely, "But I suggest you enjoy your life while you can. Things won't give your life any more meaning than it has now. Nothing will. Accept that your weakness is a part of your condition and maybe you can eke out the rest of your existence with something resembling happiness. Of course, you could always... No, no. I doubt you'd be interested in that type of work. You're so young..." She may have been pretending to muse, but this was actually as close to her real self as anyone here was likely to see. Now she understood. This boy was lost. Very well. If he was looking for purpose, she just might give him one. Funny how things had turned. Now it was her who needed to play her cards right. At least, if she wanted to convince this young man to further the cause of Nyarlethotep. (OOC: I'm not sure if your character was looking to be Nyar aligned. No point in dodging around trying to convince you, no? ) | |

| "To waste any energy on hate .... why? Something like sharing a space with other human beings is what you turn your attention towards? If your desires were that strong and fulfilling, they are just decorations of a world that has everything to offer you, just waiting for you to take. You done it so long, you started turning your head and looking around you, as if their lives can possibly affect your destiny. If you can turn your desire into power, how can life be empty?" It wasn't, not to sada. He had his legs, and so life was worth living. There was much he wanted, and more he could achieve. But the more he gained, the more he wanted, and the less he was inclined to give anything back in return. Though, she finally managed to peak his interest, and his impulsive instincts was barking at him to find out what she was going to say. " I could always what? But before you answer, don't bother suggesting anything that's beneath me. What was she going to say, he looked disinterested, but he had to know, right now! Weakness - Spoiler:

| She smiled at him. It was a curt smile, filled with more than a little fake cheer. Such drive. He was a lot like herself, but infinitely more inferior. Still, like all humans, he could be useful. Nothing to be said about his anger though. She'd have to watch out for him, if nothing else.
"I wouldn't dare," she said sarcastically, "See, I've been around for a while. As you pointed out, I'm old. Older maybe than you might guess. I suppose I look good for forty, right? I hardly have anyone guess I'm older than thirty!" She suspected that he'd already become used to the front of vanity that she put on, so lathering a little extra into the conversation couldn't kill her. Besides, it was fun. "Anyways, I'm interested in you. And maybe not in the ways you might think. How are your legs?" she spoke, completely unaware that the subject might be a sensitive one for him, "I represent what you might call an interested party. We're looking for capable kids like you who can get shit done. Some of our new guys are either too chicken to do it, or too crazy to get it done right. We can't have that, if you catch my drift. My employer, let's call him Mr. N, doesn't trust cowards or idiots to do things like this, you understand?" The last bit was a lie. She was trying to recruit him, not for any athletic traits he might have, but because of the fact that he seemed perfectly willing to sow discontent among his peers. Of course, it helped that he could probably do anything that the children would need men like him for.
"I'll cut to the chase Mr... you know, I didn't get your name young man," she mused with a smile, "Oh well. We can worry about formalities when we need your help. Regardless, we need you. I used to do these things myself, you understand, but I'm getting older and, well... My body's gotten some mileage in this line of work, as you were so quick to point out."
Her eyes drifted along his figure. He wasn't bad for a human. Usually they were the squishy type. Yeah, he should be able to do the legwork that the children needed. Even if he never officially allied, having someone to work within the framework of the city discreetly might be invaluable.
"I'll tell you what, think it over for a few more drinks. Big decision right? If your answer's no when we leave here at closing, I'm out of your hair. Deal?" She raised a glass, expecting the brief clank of glass on glass to be their mutual agreement to tolerate each other for a couple more hours.

| 40 huh? It seemed as if this woman aged well. As a matter of fact, appearances can be quite deceiving depending on the person involved. It could of been any age, it's safe to assume nothing without knowing the facts. But that was only if it was something Sada cared to know. " My legs are fine..." Sada's leg trembled a few times before he gently placed his hand on it for it to stop. What the hell is this woman's problem? Was it another guess? If it was, she's been right for quite some time, and Sada didn't like it.
Sada listened to the pitch and he already started to get the idea of where she was going with this. "I'm about to have everything I could ask for in the next few days, along with more windows for me to take. What could your employer possibly hope to offer me at this point in my life. if it's something I can't get on my own, it better be something worthwhile." Sada would then put his drink down, not making a gesture of cheers with the woman. He wasn't convinced yet Your sales pitch sucks, I'm apparently everything you want , but you stand as neither nothing I want or need. Try again, what's in it for me?" What could this woman and her employer give Sada in return?

| "Acceptable," she shrugged. She was in the door at least. "We need a person with strong legs and great stamina. You seem the athletic type, the runner type specifically. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say you do a fair amount of running. You don't seem the basketball type. Probably parkour or football. Either version of football, by the by. The Americans do seem so proud of their version. Where I'm from we call it Hand Egg, you know." She stopped herself before she got too off track. It was an exercise in patience not to waste this boy's time simply annoying him. Oh well. A fun game for another time.
"Fine. I'll cut to the chase, since you want to hang some vague threat of 'everything you could want' over my head as though it means anything," she huffed. She stopped herself again. This human was trying her patience once again. "You want anything, you earn it. And I mean anything. My employer rewards his underlings for hard work. Material things are inconsequential. It's what you can do that makes this such a rewarding line of work. I get to see things play out the way I want them more often than not. If I want something, I take it. If I want someone, I con them into joining me for a night. If they say no, perhaps they wake up to a cat that mysteriously choked on a foam letter. Or a daughter who's "run away" for a few weeks." She smirked. Oh those were good times. The supreme angst of Gen-Exers had made for some fun times in the nineties and thousands.
"Long story short, my boy," she said with a remarkably genuine grin, "The self. My line of work is all about glorification of the self. And as long as I do some leg work here and there, I get to do what I want."

| Sada gave her the floor, he only listened silently and gabe no sort of indication of approval or dismissal. "..............." After she finished speaking, Sada took a sip of his drink and breathed out heavily as if he was mulling over something. For starters, this was indeed his last drink of the night for the time being, he simply refused to miss his workout tomorrow. Second.....
"Alright, but lets get one thing clear. I dont consider myself an underling to anyone, if this is an agreement, you have something i want, and all we are even doing is making a proper exchange for it. If your employer has a way of shifting things over to my favor, i might.... might... be oblidged to return the favor. AS a matter of fact, thats exactly why your desires are weaker than mine, you ahve some sort of need in order to depend on someone else in order to get it, when yin fact, your existence to them is just as meaningless as the glass cups in this shop. You exist for one purpose, to hold drinks, you crack or break, you're expendable enough to be thrown away and replaced. But one thing doesn't fail, no one should care about you more than yourself. "
Sada then shrugged. "I already get to do what i want on my own terms, but if there are things that i cant get without your ... "Employer...." Then I'm interested. If its.... superficial... then I'm not....power.....thats what I want...the power to live my life in my own standard of taking whatever i please, without having to sacrifice anything in return.... but sure... i'll play your game... humor me...."what happens now? Sada was slightly tipsy now, so maybe he was a bit more cooperative.

| (>and gabe no sort of indication of approval or dismissal >and gabe >gabe >mfw this is how I see your character now) Whoever this was, she at least respected his determination. She reached into bosom of the fancy red dress she was wearing and retrieved a wallet that she kept tucked inside her bra. The wallet was small, just small enough for her to store cards. From within its leather depths, she retrieved two cards. One was a credit card, which she slapped on the table in front of the bartender. He took it promtly and ran off to the register to process her tab. The other card was the reason that she'd sent the bartender away to begin with. She placed this card, a small laminated one, onto the table and slid it towards the young man. A simple gesture, but it held weight for several reasons. For one, no one aside from the target needed to see these cards. It held information for how to specifically go about contacting her. "This card has information for how to contact me," she said, "I haven't included all of the specifics about the job. Not everything you do will be strictly legal." From within her leather wallet she produced another card. This one made of stock and entirely blank. "I'll need you to write your name and contact information on this card so that I can get a hold of you. Your contact will be me. Any work we need you to do will be passed down from me. If you ever find yourself in a jam, you can contact me by phone. You'll find I can be very... persuasive when it comes to getting what I want. Outside of that, feel free to do as you like. You are not a slave to others' laws. I, for one, aim to keep it that way. That said... if you do something stupid, I'm not bailing you out. So, to coin a phrase, be free and be discreet." | |
