There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] Empty
PostSubject: There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe]   There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] EmptyFri Sep 16, 2016 4:54 pm

Previously that day...

"Hm...it must be ready...", Brittany said, crouched in front of the stove. She wasn't the one to cook that often, but a stove is a modern necessity for everyone. Then again, she wasn't the type to actually invite someone over. Despite being a social butterfly, Brittany was never close to someone to the point of intimacy. Allowing someone to enter her apartment? Unthinkable. But it was happening. Brittany wasn't nervous at all, she was too easygoing and carefree to let her heart beat in insecurities for this...but she also couldn't deny there was a very thrilling emotion taking control of her thoughts this moment. And as she stared to the stove transparent door, she crossed her arms on her kneels and rested the cheek there, thinking. Dreaming. Unconsciously smiling. Would Gabe like the place? He seemed too refined and high-classed of a guy to appreciate such a small apartment for one single girl. Well, last time he didn't mind her company at all, despite how clumsy the girl could be at times. That and the farm wasn't at all a very classy place for a meeting. A date. Wait, was that a date? She pondered, eyes closed... She was a girl...right? And Gabe was a guy. There wasn't any other nomenclature for an arranged meeting between opposite genders, Brittany was sure of it. After years following her female friends engaging in experiences with the other pole of the gender spectrum, it was rather funny how she herself was never that close to a guy before. Not until the farm meeting... She felt him close. His torso...the strong body...the sweet scent of perfume...

...the scent of smoke. The strong scent of smoke. It was so real and impressive she could even smell it again, right now in her kitchen. Wait, Gabe didn't smoke, it wasn't a habit of his. So...?

Once she opened her eyes, Brittany was filled with despair. The scent she had been smelling came from no man whatsoever, but her oven instead. The pie she spent all afternoon preparing for the upcoming meeting turned into a burnt sight. A sight that evoked only one single reaction from the jaw-dropped desperate lips. "...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

[...]

The cheesecake was lying comfortably over the table. It was cold and fresh, and it tasted good, judging from the single slip of her finger on the creamy, soft surface of cranberries. Better than anything she could prepare, but maybe it was her own fault. Tight schedule didn't allow too much time for her to venture into seeking recipes and putting them into practice. School and modeling work rarely gave her enough chances to transform the kitchen into the experimental laboratory she wanted it to be, and even though she liked the cooking activity itself, she knew she was no good for it. Well, if there was any doubts before, the burnt pie thrown to the garbage was an irrefutable proof. At least the end of the day was windy enough, meaning she could let the windows open and the awful smoke clouds vanish through it. Hopefully Gabe wouldn't notice the odor. As for the cheesecake... she was lucky to find a confectionery on such short notice. Was this of Gabe's tastes, she wondered? At least the house was entirely clean and Bernie was out. She had seen before how the little owl could be...violent with strangers. Would he take long to come? She had given him her address the last time they met before each parted their ways. It wasn't hard of a place to find, and being a smart man, Gatsby would be able to reach her without worries. Hm... She crossed her arms, staring at the clock hanging on the wall.

Gabe was heading on over to Brittany's house for the first time, not too sure what to expect. Though, he made sure to bring a housewarming gift in order to lighten the mood. A nice small bottle of strawberry flavored wine, and a box of ferrero rocher chocolates. His hair was combed down this time around, and just a tiny bit shinier. However, he did have his glasses.

"This must be the place." Gabe would mumble to himself as he began to knock on the door. But Gabe then started to notice the smell of something burning. After he knocked, Gabe began to voice his concern. "Hello, is everything alright in there?

PostSubject: Re: There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe]   There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] EmptySat Sep 17, 2016 7:22 pm

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!", her hands immediately held the desperate face as she heard knocks in the front door. It was him, of course! His voice was even audible enough. "HOLD ON, JUST A SECOND!" She had been so lost in thoughts that she even forgot to be properly dressed and all for the meeting. And now she had just a few seconds to adjust her appearance even for a bit, to not give the impression of being the sloppy kind of girl...or boy, worst case. Quickly, she run to the bathroom, checking in front of the mirror. Darn it, she still had that kerchief covering her hair, how come? Probably she forgot it due to how long she had been wearing the thing the whole afternoon. Same goes to the leather white, sort of dirty apron. Quickly, she took both out in quickly, harsh movements with not delicacy whatsoever, throwing them under the sink. It's a good hideout in case Gabe decides to go to the bathroom. After letting her hair loose from the previous bun, she noticed... geez, it wasn't even combed the slightest, her waves were a bit asymmetric and not perfectly trimmed as usual. If once they looked like a pretty, shiny waterfall of cotton-candy hair, now it seemed like some cow chewed on her hair strands. Worst part of it, she didn't have enough time to fix herself properly. Biting the underlip, Brittany shook her head for a few times, running her fingers in between. Alright, that was a bit better and filthy-looking. Nothing compared to when she truly dedicates time to suit herself, but alright. As for the clothes under...they're so basic she didn't even have reasonable complaints about them. Or perhaps the fact they were too plain was a reasonable complaint, she would never know. Regardless, taking a deep breath, she run to the door, one hand at the door knob... Alright, there's no turning back now. She weren't too disciplined and insightful about the meeting, but what's done is done, and Gabe couldn't be waiting any longer outside. Brittany was reckless yes, but not impolite.

"Hiiii!! I'm soooo glad you came! Was it hard to reach it here? I mean, the place can be a bit hidden if you're not used to the neighborhood and all, but...well, yeah, nevermind that. You look so...fancy!", she said, eyes gleaming at the sight of the young man. Was fancy a good adjective? Do boys like to be called "fancy" or "pretty"? Regardless, it would only make her curse herself for not being par up to his outfit standards right now. "Oh come in! I'm so sorry you had to wait, I was like, you know, making the last adjustments. You know, girl stuff!", with a chuckle, she stepped to the side, opening the door wider and extending one hand to her apartment, a sign for Gabe to step inside. Would he like the apartment? It was rather small, and modest, but one thing he couldn't complain is how tidy it was. After all, Brittany had been cleaning it all day!

"Oh, ok, just checking to see how you were..." Cooking troubles? He would have hoped that she was alright. Gabe ran his hand through his hair and pushed up his glassed, slightly nervous now. Did he come too early?"....." After a while, the door opened and there she was, looking as wonderful as ever. Maybe a bit stressed out, but that's ok, Gabe tried to make this as planned ahead of time as possible so he wasn't intruding.

Gabe did make a sharp bow when he was complimented. "No, it didn't take too long at all. Vista square is a pretty interesting place to live. I live in a much quieter place..and..." Gabe would say as he looked at his clothes. "I guess you are seeing me out of my element, I do own other clothes too..." After a small chuckle, Gabe offered the gifts. "some chocolates and some wine...I hope you like... it's a bit of a house gift."

It was his first time there, he wanted to make a good impression. After walking in, gabe looked around and took a deep breath. "Smells nice , its a really nice place that you have here. Gabe would say as he took a seat. "Lived here by yourself for a while?"

There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] Empty
PostSubject: Re: There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe]   There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] EmptySat Sep 17, 2016 11:20 pm

Chocolate and wine...? Not what she expected. In fact, at this point she didn't even know what to expect anymore. But it was Gabe, it was in his nature to be courteous. She just didn't know...he could be just that much courteous...and so alluring to the point of leaving the girl speechless for one moment, limiting her gestures to accepting the offer with a smile. "You know I can't eat too much chocolate, right? What, you want to see me fat and lose my job?", the girl chuckled jokingly, slowly pressing the chocolate box against her chest with one arm. Once Gabe entered the apartment, she put the wine over a small table near the entrance, leaving one hand free to close the door behind them while he appreciated the apartment. It was small, yes, but the furniture was impeccable, everything was trim and in order. "Yeah, I've been on my own for a while. I mean, me and Bernie, but she's not always around... I guess she's the kind to be on her own for most of her time. Hm...wanna come and see the rest of the house?" Whether he'd consent with her suggestion or not, the girl made her ways into carrying the box under her arm, fingers from the same hand wrapping itself the wine. This left the other hand free to grab Gabe's, allowing Brittany to escort him to the kitchen where, conveniently, lied the big cheesecake pie she intended to share with him. At this point, she expected the smell of smoke to be gone. It must be, Gabe didn't make any remarks in those regards. However, it could be also possible that he was polite enough to not make any hurtful comments about her home. Was Brittany worrying too much about it, she wondered?

"Of course not, i only think that it's wise to treat yourself every now and again. At the times that you do a successful shoot and feel good about yourself, you could use something sweet to munch on, no?" Gabe would say rather charmingly. "In those cases, i dont think you would gain a pound. "Not to say Gabe felt out of place, but he did smell the smoke coming from outside her apartment. It was gone now, so he didnt mention it. The house seemed to be in order. "Oh, i would love to!" Gabe would get up and take her hand for the tour, where he saw the big cheesecake pie. "Incredible, you made this? " Gabe would say as his face moved slightly closer to the pie, taking a good whiff." Smells nice, do you make things like this often? I bet it tastes good...

"Hm...maybe it was me? Maybe it wasn't? I want you to try it before!", Brittany said, well humored as always. Gladly, Gabe didn't arrive the time her pie (the one she made from her own effort, not the one she bought) was in flames. With a side discreet glance to the oven, praying Gabe wouldn't notice it was still tad smoky inside of it. She doesn't even have time to be a good cook, and if he saw the things she makes in the kitchen, the man would probably think they came from a sci-fi movie.

"So, wash your hands because I'm gonna cut a piece for you", she smiled, letting go of Gabe to take a pair of plates and spoons, as well a knife of a considerable size, proper to cut pies. She opted to let her plate empty for now, therefore cutting carefully a slice of pie. Gladly, her clumsiness didn't strike this time, props to her actually paying attention to what she was doing. If only the girl had been more attentive with her original pie... All in all, she managed to place it on Gabe's plate, the shiny cranberry cream at the top sliding down the slice sides and making it to the plate surface. Did Gabe like cranberries? She hoped so. "Here! Take a bite. Or do you want me to spoonfeed you, hm?", with a giggle, she offered the plate for Gabe to handle, eyes gleaming with excitement and anxiety.

"Haa... right then... " Gabe would say as he went over to the sink to briefly wash over his hands. Afterwards, Gabe would  dry his hands and roll up his wrists. "I'm sure that there would be nothing wrong with the taste. " Gabe sat beside her and picked up the spoon in order to dig into the pie slice." ...." Gabe took a small piece  and placed it into his mouth, slowly chewing. "...." After swallowing, Gabe would lower the hand with the spoon slightly to turn and smile at her.

Brittany, i see that you worked hard on this... and.. your feelings reached me just fine. I really like the pie...thank you...." Gabe noticed, but he didn't care. He didn't have it in him to trample on someones hard work and courage, it would be impolite. "So, top pastry chef by day, and super model by night. Is there anything that you cant do?" Gabe would say, wondering if there was more to Brittany. "So when did you set off from your parents? Are they well?" Gabe would say as he took another bite.

There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] Empty
PostSubject: Re: There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe]   There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] EmptySun Sep 18, 2016 1:44 am

She glanced at him munching, leaning her elbows over the table, chin resting comfortably on her hands, spectating eyes following each movement of his jaw... Would he like it?

...much to her happiness, yes, Gabe seemed to have enjoyed himself just fine now, reason why there was an ear-to-ear smile occupying the majority of Brittany's face right now. Though it turned slightly awkward when he mentioned the hard work to make the pie. She felt bad for misleading him into thinking she prepared it. If only he knew how awful she was at the kitchen... But it didn't matter. Gabe liked the pie she carefully picked on the last moment just for him. It was enough of an accomplishment for the night. "Well, I cannot fly...yet! I'm working on it, you just wait and see", Brittany said, with a joyful laughter following her response. "Top pastry chef"? She liked it. One of the best compliments she heard in a long while, even if...not quite suitable to the truth.

"..." "Parents". One thing she didn't want to talk about. On her normal days, she barely remembered this topic, having moved on with her life taught her to let some things sink in the past where they belong. Talking about past meant talking about the person she was before, and the person she was before...was dead for good. "Oh...they're fine. They live in another city, but I visit them once in a while. You know, there's, like, this time in your life when you just want to do your own thing, sing your own song? Like, fly off the nest or something, there are many ways to say the same thing, but it all comes down to one thing: living your own life. We all want it. Don't you?" Even if she had to lie a little bit...or a lot, Gabe didn't have to know certain things. At least, not yet.

Ahh.. well ...worse case scenario..if you cant get flight right on the first try, i'll catch you. " Gabe would say with a wink at Brittany. Though, it kind of made him wonder if his own terrorist like powers would allow him to fly? That would be quite an amazing feat that Gabe would certainly enjoy. Though, the brief moment would soon pass as she talked about her parents, kind of putting the emphasis on leaving home to strike out on your own. "Well...i dont know what i want..i was on my own after the incident, since i was 17. My parents were missing since then, so i guess i got to experience that whether i wanted to or not. I dont know if it feels better or not if it wasnt a mutual choice. " Gabe would take another spoonful and eat it.

But, when i look at you.. i cant help but admire the people who made you... because it gave me a chance to meet you in the first place, thats all "
Gabe would then smile at her. "Sorry if it was an uncomfortable topic.

There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] Empty
PostSubject: Re: There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe]   There's a First Time for Everything [Gabe] EmptySun Sep 18, 2016 12:24 pm

Brittany always felt like they were different, but now...she felt like their past connected them in a way. She also suffered the consequences after the Great Divide. It wasn't the immediate loss of their relatives and parents; on the contrary, being an orphan for the entirety of her life, it seemed like she gained the family she long sought for. At least for the first few weeks...

"You're such a charmer, aren't you? If you're trying to make me fall for you with all these compliments...keep it up, it's working!", Brittany laughed jokingly, placing one hand over Gabe's. He didn't have to apologize over anything, she knew he had no intention to poke on a sensitive topic if he was previously aware it was a forbidden topic in first place. That and he was being extremely nice since the beginning, despite having some scars from the past as well. "You want to know what I think? I think you turned out fine. We both did! There's a saying that goes like "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger". Well, I have my own version of it, "what doesn't kill us either makes us stronger...or fatter". And as you can see, fat is the last thing anyone can call us. So yeah, we survived the worst, and we are stronger than before!", Wilson finally said, tightening the grip on the man's hand, with a broad smile. Because "Brittany and bad mood just don't match at all".

"I try... sometimes it's a hit and miss... but I try to be charming." Gabe would say with a small smile. He didn notice her hand over his, but didn't think nothing of it. They were bonding, connecting, and she trusted him in her household. Gabe would be nothing more than respectful towards her, it was just how he chose to live overall.

Gabe lent an ear and listened to what she had to say, towards the fact that they did turn out well. He wasn't too sure how to answer that. "Well, things can always be better. Not to say that i'm not positive, but were co existing with these demons that killed so many, and we cant even see them. The new generation that's birthed after will have to live with this as the norm, when you and me, we can imagine a n life before this. Not to say it was better back than, but....there was just.. that life had... that we no longer can afford to contain. " Gabe's voice would trail off into the distance, but quickly come back.

"Oh, the wine.. ahh I wasn't too sure from the last time you visited my job, but it wasn't anything too heavy of the sort. It's actually pretty sweet.

It's not that Brittany didn't get what Gabe meant. She did, even though she was considerably younger back then, she had vivid memories of how life used to be before demons became "the norm". Frankly...it wasn't good. Not for her, at least. Now, she could say her life finally had a turn for better. She acquired a job that is is the dream job for most girls, even though she's far from being properly successful at it, and she became the person she wanted to be in her childhood years. She became the girl she wanted to be. Demons? Brittany was now a Psyche Terrorist, she could handle them, despite the hardships and the danger. Would she trade this for the previous, peaceful but unhappy life? Would Gabe think she's selfish for this?

"Oh sure, the wine. You know, I don't drink too much, but my friends at work, they, like, loooove to drink. Also, they love to party hard at night as well. Or both, party and drink, sometimes smoke", she stood up, her steps taking her to the kitchen cupboard. Quickly, she came back with two cups for both of them, putting them over the table.
"Does wine go well with a pie? I always picture it with a fancy dinner and, you know...a fancy occasion."

That's fine, i picked this out because i thought you would like it. I also kept in mind that you didn't like anything heavy, so no worries at all. "Gabe would say to her with a smile. "I dont do all of those things, i just like a little glass of wine with my meals, thats all. " When she asked if wine went good with pie, Gabe opened the bottle and poured her glass first. "Lets find out..." Gabe then poured himself a glass and raised the glass in the air. " Whats the most common thing you like to toast to? Wealth? Happiness? Love? The future?" Gabe would say questioningly, due to the fact that its those values that you hold in high regard that you toast to.

"Ooooh no, that's not what I meant! I don't like alcohol like, duh, my friends, but that doesn't mean I can't open an exception!", she quickly said with a smile, sitting down to the same chair. Did she upset him? Because that's not what she intended for, it was just a small report about her life at work. And frankly, the following response of Gabe was just what she took him for. Honestly she couldn't imagine Gabe partying like crazy with a cigarette between his fingers. He wasn't the loose spirit type, he was more of a nice well-behaved guy. Maybe too nice...

As for the toasting...she bit her underlip, thinking, before a satisfied smile could return to the fleshy red lips. "Hm...why not...to the present? This is where we live, in the present. No looking back or looking forward, but enjoying everyday like it's the last one and doing what you can to become who you want to be. We only have this life to live, right?"
