It was early afternoon, when the teacher called a study period. Which wasn't all bad after all. There was going to be a selection exam that evening, so giving the students time to brush up on things, or get affairs in order were a given. In fact it is somewhat surprising that it took so long for one to be called for this class in particular.

Achelle herself was engrossed with a demon compendium the school kept on hand, in particular she was making a list of known demons that were documented as having weaknesses and strengths against physical attacks, as she was a martial artist by trade, it always felt like a good idea to always know what one might come up against.

As for everyone else in the room, she could barely care what they were doing unless they intentionally came up to her and made it their business to get into her's.

A study period, it was more like a period for Maria to relax a little. She dropped her pencil on her notebook and leaned against her chair. The girl barely stifled a yawn, in fact she couldn't hold it down and simply opened her jaw to let it go. It was tiring. But she hoped it wouldn't be the case once night fell. Maria had a feeling it was going to be a long one. Glancing to the side, she noticed there was someone reading a compendium of demons. The girl couldn't quite read the lettering from where she was.

So she stood up and headed on over.

"Excuse me, can I see that book for a bit?"

Achelle didn't look up from her book, in fact the only time she paused after Maria asked, was to adjust her glasses as she continued to look over the pages and list information...

After a pregnant pause, Achelle glanced side long at the young lady with blue hair.

"I was hoping the non-verbal cues were enough." She muttered. "I am busy with this compendium, as it's plainly obvious." She stated. "In fact, I will probably be busy with it for a while," she said as she flipped through the entire tome, while keeping a finger where she was, "seeing how this archive is.... almost two thousand pages long." She stated. "You're more then welcome to stand there and wait, or you can pull up a chair and wait." She complained, "but waiting is what you'll get till I'm through."

This girl, whoever she was, was being a bit rude. But Maria didn't really mind. It's not like she minded not reading the compendium in its entirety right now. In fact, what she wanted would still let her able to read it at a later time. Really, she didn't have to go all out of her way to voice her displeasure. A simple no would have sufficed. "That's fine. I just want to know the title, the author, and the publisher. That's good enough for me."

The girl wasn't going to leave her alone was she? After a second of this girl still waiting near her, Achelle put the compendium down, took off her glasses and rubbed the bridge of her nose.

"Just.... Just take it." She muttered as she slid her glasses back on.

"Thanks."

Maria raised an eyebrow at her. What exactly was her issue? It was a simple request, nothing to blow out of proportion to act as if she was acting like some kind of major annoyance. But she ignored it and took the book in her hands. Rummaging through her own belongings, she was able to write down the information she sought for and then put it inside a secure pocket somewhere she can take a look at later. Maria handed the book back at her.

"Thinking of joining the Cadets?" she asked curiously.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of jobs that deals with demons. Unless it's for research or for combat. She wasn't quite sure which one this girl is. "I'm Maria. What's your name?"

When the girl asked if she was going to join the cadets, Achelle nodded.

"My father's a Cadet," she said, "and I intend to serve with him."

The girl then introduced herself. And being someone raised with manners, Achelle had to respond.

"Walker, Achelle Walker." She replied.

So there were people gunning to be a Cadet. Then again, it was a coveted job in these parts. Maria suspected it was going to be a gritty one. Yet, she prepared herself for it. She gave an understanding nod towards Achelle. "I see. Well then, Achelle. It's been nice meeting you. If tonight is lucky for both of us, perhaps we'll see each other more. I'll see you later. Good luck."

She bowed her head down in farewell, and then started to leave the classroom. For Maria, she just wanted to leave and head to her next classes to get it over with so that she could have time to mentally prepare herself for this evening.
