City Sights, Fantastic Heights (Open - 3 people)

"Exactly Katherine, just a giant machine of smaller machines." Wait what, who bumped into Katherine? "No it's quite all right sir. Well, I'm actually trying to give this last one out to someone, would you like to have it?" It seems August is getting a sugar rush of interaction and learning. Might want to keep an eye on him so he doesn't do something silly, so that he won't embarrass himself.

Cyrus took a moment to contemplate the small group of people he'd bumped into. There was that farmborn, who was clearly new in town if he was still wearing clothes like those and rocking that overall appearance. There was that blonde woman, who Cyrus had to admit was fairly attractive, probably a year or two younger than him. From the condition of her skin he could tell that she was either very conscious of her hygiene and appearance, or just happened to be one of those people that are unintentionally continously clean and couldn't even get dirty if they rolled around in a mud pit. And finally, there was THAT guy. The brown-haired one. Something about his perpetual smug look reeked of confidence and information, like he's got friends in high places. Those kinds of people usually hang at information-rich places such as bars. In fact, Cyrus wouldn't be surprised if this dude owned one of the damn things, he has the bar owner feel down pat.

Cyrus, against his better judgment, took the ticket from the smug man's hand and put it in his coat pocket. "Thanks, you saved me ten problems, I owe ya." said Cyrus as he played with his chain necklace. "I'm Cyrus, Cyrus Abaddon. I write articles for "Quantum" the science magazine. It's nice to meet you three."

"Wow, a science magazine? Must be complicated, Mr. Cyrus. It's enough trouble for me trying to figure out just how this gigantic wheel works, let alone the entirety of science." It was, for August, something that he regretted - the ferris wheel might have been the prime example here, but there was so much he didn't understand. Certainly he knew enough about living on a farm, but when there was so much more in the world to understand and so much more in the world to see, he couldn't help but feel a little awkward when it came to a man whom quite clearly had already had plenty of prior experience with the world.

August frowned slightly. He'd known that he was going into the world with little experience, to try and find out everything he could for himself, but to have met so many people who were so much more experienced with the real world - the world beyond a small, backwater farm - sometimes it felt so hard not to feel inferior. Or for that matter, a bit jealous. What on earth could August possibly ever discover that people like these hadn't already found out for themselves.

August shook his head a little. "No, don't you worry yourself about that. Right now, you're here to have fun. It's the city! Lighten up, live a little." Noticing at least Angatsa seemed to be worried about him, he let up a smile. "Sorry to make you worry, Mr. Angatsa. Just...there's a lot to take in here, far more than a lil' farmboy like myself can get his head around so simply. I'll be fine." he assured the red-coated man - didn't want to make anyone else worry with his silly little quibbles.

Besides, with a group of people, now they were finally ready to try out this ferris wheel! Surely their group would be able to get on soon, right?! August couldn't wait to see the city from the sky. It would be the closest thing to being an angel - or perhaps one of the Maidens. Surely they could fly, right? The stories told they were able to do just about anything with magic, right? August would love to be able to fly - he wondered if the Maidens flew regularly or just when they felt like it, if they ever did...

So many questions, so little time.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Cyrus. Hm, so you write articles for Quantum, I might want to check them out on my spare time." Apparently he had his fill of checking each of us out. He seems like a nice guy, so it'll definently be a pleasure spending time with hiim. "It's okay to not understand August, heck, some people flaunt out their ignorance to a keen edge to get everyone to tell them everything they want to know."

"August, keep in mind that everything can be an advantage or disadvantage. But you alone can determine which it can be. Of course there is a lot to take in, just make sure to put aside some time to digest it." I say with a fond smile. I like August, he is a nice, uncomplicated, and eager guy who likes to learn and see what he hasn't learnt or saw. And Katherine seems to be a very cheerful and happy kind of girl, which honestly all people should be.

"So, shall we move into the wheel? We are almost at the front of the line for it."

"Sure, what else are we gonna do, give the tickets away to four random people?" Cyrus chuckled at that, he made a funny.

"In all seriousness though-" He started as he stpped into the wheel along with his three newfound comapnions. "What would compell you to just give away free tickets? That's awfully nice of you... N-not that I'm implying it's wrong or anything, it just surprises me."

The wheel started to shift and whirr, and in a few moments, the freshly formed quartet was safely lifted into the air in their comfortable pod. Cyrus sat down in one of the pod's seats and looked out the window, the city becoming smaller and smaller as they went up higher and higher.

"Pretty thought-provoking, isn't it?"

Finally, the line had closed. August was beaming with anticipation as he clambered into one of the seats next to Angatsa. "Gosh...it's kinda scary to think about being so high, but at the same time I can't wait!" His excitement must have shone through like crazy, but he couldn't help it. Who could have imagined something like this would ever happened to a lil' ol' farmboy from out in the sticks?

And then the thing started to lift. Even as August looked out the window, he gripped onto the edge of his seat firmly, as if still worried that despite everything he might accidentally fall right out of the contraption. As much as August would have loved to fly...well, it wouldn't have been much of an adventure if it only lasted about 30 seconds in the air. He looked all around, seeing the buildings get smaller the more they towered into the sky. "Wow! Will ya look at that? It's hard to even see the people down there anymore!" he gushed, looking down in delight.

He overheard Cyrus talk about things being thought-provoking. "Oh, gosh yes, Mr. Cyrus! Just imagine! From this high up in the air, everyone almost looks the same! Like we're all just...so tiny! Even the Maiden, blessed be, she's probably just as small as everyone else from up here! Makes you wonder what it must be like to always be watching over people..." If he was gushing, he didn't care - everything was so new, so exciting from up here. If this was just the start of an adventure from here to Parangelia, then this adventure was going to be well worth it.

August turned to Angatsa, almost on a rush at this point. "Can you see your bar from here, Mr. Angatsa? Can you point it out to me?" He asked, his hand still gripping tightly on the edge of the seat, but as for himself, it was hard to keep focus on one person when there was just so much to look at...

He couldn't wait to tell his folks back home about this. Or to even write about it - getting to see the entire colony of Eirini (or at least what felt like it) from such a high distance, it was an experience August wondered if he'd ever be able to have again. He couldn't help but hope so even as he kept looking, trying to see as much as he could as the ferris wheel reached it's zenith...

"Yeah yeah, i'm generous, what of it? What compelled me is that it is a good and happy day and the happiness should be shared. Yeah, I can understand where your coming from, the regular person does not go out of his way to be nice to others. Think about the solidity of it and the fact that they tested it many a time."

"Yes, everything looks smaller from a distance. Oh, I know oh so well what it's like watching over people. Oh, well my bar is over there in the middle northwest of the city." I say pointing northwest of the townsquare. "You won't be able to miss it since it's a bit higher tech than the rest of the area around it."

"Also, when your done with all the enjoyment and excitement you should find somewhere quiet to relax and think about stuff. I always do that near sunset on a hill somewhere."

"Relax? I've got too much of this city to see to relax, if all the stuff I can see from up here is to go by!" he started, though as the ferris wheel started to pass it's zenith, and started moving towards the ground, August started to calm down a little bit. It looked like the ride was on it's way towards it's inevitable end - which felt a little disappointing, admittedly.

Still, looking at everything was just the first step - really, he had to get there for anything to count, otherwise he could have just as easily found pictures to look at.

August turned to Cyrus. "Curious about what I do, mister? Aw, nothing that fancy or anything. My parents work a farm out in the sticks. The stuff we grow is usually for all them fancy folk in the Agricultural Department since out crops have less'a that fancy mana in 'em." August smiled. "Still, my lil' sis and I liked to take some when nobody was looking when we were younger, heh."

August stretched. "But right now, I'm travelling the world...well, starting on it, anyway. It's been a dream of mine for years. I'mma see every possible thing I can find, ayup!" It was nice to tell people that who weren't just his family for once, and these seemed like a nice enough group to tell that too. Still didn't know where it would lead, but at least it felt more real telling it to more people.

There'd be a lot for him to write down in his diary when he was done...

"From what August told me he lives on a farm. Um, that's probably why you need to space it out over multiple days. Oh yeah, mana refining in agriculture, I might want to research that up. Ah, childish mischief, one of the great worldwide headache causers. I sure hope you do buddy, just try to space them and not see everything there is to see in the world in one day."

"That would probably fry your brain." I say half seriously.

August slowly watched the ground come back. He was disappointed, yes - but it'd be nice for him to get his feet back on the ground. As exciting as it was, he just couldn't get used to the idea of staying in the air for such a long time.

"Yeah...my folks told me that, Mr. Cyrus. How dangerous it is out there and all that. And it's not exactly like I like gettin' into trouble but..." August hesitated. What exactly was it that drove him to need to see more than just the small little farm that he was a part of. "...I don't really know, I guess. I just want to see all the strange and wonderful things that I'd never get the chance to see elsewise." August scratched his head.

August turned to Angatsa and smiled. "But I ain't gonna worry. There's no rush. After all, I've got plenty of time to go explorin'. It's not like the world's about to end or anythin', right? And I can barely adapt to what this place is like, let alone all the rest of the stuff in the world. I just can't wait to see what else there is. Maybe I'll write a book about it, if I'm lucky, methinks."

Yeah...it'd be a dream come true, and it'd be one August would have liked to share with as many people as possible, if he could get away with it. Sure, it was dangerous, but what was a good adventure with a little bit of danger? Perhaps there'd be something to worry about in the future, but for now, he was happy.

The ferris wheel slowly ground to a halt outside, the doors unlocking and opening themselves. Looked like the ride was finally over. "Welp, I'm guessin' this'll be our stop, then." August said, stretching his arms a little and jumping out of the small little carriage, glad that his feet could finally touch the ground (even if they were a little bit wobbly). August turned back to the people he'd shared the carriage with. "It was really nice to meet you all, Mr. Angatsa, Miss Katherine, Mr. Cyrus. Maybe we'll see each other again someday, I reckon that'd be neat."

There was something nice about having been able to meet these few people, something that helped to ground the young boy a little (amusingly whilst up in the air, but that was besides the point) in the ways of this town. There'd be so much more to see, but he was glad to have met a few people here. All that awaited was to see what would happen next...

"Yeah, dreams being fulfilled is something absolutely amazing. Well, there can be some enjoyment in that. Very true, Parangelia is very different to Eirini. Yeah, it's very dangerous out there, and I don't know if people will ever go out there enmass. But then there is beauty in that which none other has seen. Yes, there is always time for great and long things."

"Yeah, that would be a good idea, pass the knowledge of your adventures onto the next generation. Yeah I guess this is, nice too meet all of you guys too. Yeah, we probably will meet again, and I eagerly look forward to it. So, I guess i'll be going back home now, see you guys another time!" As I say running of toward my bar.

Cyrus stretched and took in a deep breath, he'd need to go back home soon, those antacids aren't gonna pop themselves. "Welp. I better head home, it's been a pleasure meeting all of you" He said as he unpocketed his hands. "Hopefully we can see each other around, eh? Take care you three!" He said as he waved while walking away.
