The Child before Time [Jandice/Julian/Hyde]

If originally Shun would love to spend the night away at the club’s facilities, tonight he’d give everything to not be there. For the first time, his reasons to put his fingers in such place were nothing like the thrilling search for fun. The last weeks sucked, if he were to be honest, so more than ever Shunnosuke had a valid reason to search the club’s generous offer of relieving tension, as he usually did whenever things weren’t going out. And yet, he wasn’t there for himself, even though he’d give everything to just lift his middle finger to the world and keep on singing his song. Is this what people call “growing up”?

The music still cranked up, the club’s hall more crowded than ever. Shunnosuke would feel energetic just from staring at the huge commotion of people getting wild on the dancefloor. Oh, how he wished to be one of them. Did those people know about everything going on? Of course not. Or maybe they knew what everybody knew, the superficial and unimportant, obvious details. After all, “ignorance is bliss”. And regardless of all his regretful thoughts and emotions, Shunnosuke wouldn’t think for a second of backing down. Maybe that’s why he’s been distressed lately, he thought while studying the crowd with an envious sensation. Because he knew too much and was involved too much.

The male tender was ready to fill a glass of alcoholic beverage to Shun, when he politely gestured in denial, something that caught the man off guard. That’s definitely a first. In the teen’s mind, he was there for business, leaving the fun and enjoyment for after party. For now, he opted to just…sit, swing his chair in the crowd’s direction and observe. Every little thing, every single corner. He had a hunch about a certain someone here… His future kind of depended on the success of this approach. He wouldn’t fail now.

" So this is a club, i never been here before...." Hyde would say as patted shun on the back with a smile. " You called me over here, and i wasnt too sure why to begin with , but i guess this is what they call about, experiencing cultures and whatnot? Hyde would say as he pointed at his chest and bottom for a moment. I dont know if i brought the right clothes or anything, i kind of felt like wearing something simple to be honest. I hope that's ok..." After sitting down next to shun, Hyde wold squint at him. " I don't know if its the music that's emitting this mood, or maybe its you. Is something on your mind right now?

Damn, it felt good to be back.

Although in the past he'd come nearly every week, it had been almost a month since he'd walked through the doors of the Wave's Peak. It was a necessary hiatus, one wrought with smashing bugs and working through issues, but it was regrettable nonetheless. At least he was back now, and he planned to enjoy his time here.

Julian breathed deeply, relishing the natural smoky scent of the establishment and the tangy hint of excitement permeating the air. It was strange seeing so many people celebrating for one reason or another, but it was a welcome sight as well; too much had been going on lately, too much anxiety, too much tension everywhere.

He opted not to linger at the doorway too long, lest he become trampled by dancers or bowled over by patrons attempting to stumble home in their drunken stupors. Best to get somewhere safe...like the bar. The bar was always a good stop; it was out of the way and he usually met one or two familiar faces there. He didn't need to consider it for another second; Julian's legs were already moving in that direction, and he weaved himself carefully through the dancers until he came to an open chair on the far side and sat down.

After waving to catch the man's attention, Julian sat patiently as the bartender gave him a welcoming nod and filled his usual order with a slight shake of the head and a small, disbelieving smile. Of course, Julian couldn't blame the guy; who ordered water at a club, anyways? Him, that's who. And he intended to keep it that way for a while yet.

He received his drink moments later and took a small sip, glancing around. He was hoping to run into a certain club owner tonight, if only because he hadn't seen her in ages and missed the interesting conversation. But any familiar face would do, so long as he managed to throw his troubles on the back burner for now.

Was that...Hyde? Julian blinked and squinted slightly to see through the dimmed lights. Yup, he'd recognize that pink head of hair anywhere. And the person with him...Shunnosuke? Huh. Julian knew that they were friends, but...still, it was strange to see them together. Hm...now, to say hi or look for someone else...? ...Might as well be friendly, even if other persona users weren't exactly high on his list right now.

Hopping out of his chair and crossing the short distance between them, Julian offered the pair a wave and an easy grin. "Didn't expect to see the two fo you here together tonight."

For those who were looking around the room, there was no sign of Jandice in the club, as though she had simply ceased to be. But of course everyone knew about her right? The woman who ran around in different clothes, wrecking the place? But no, the entire area was completely devoid of the young woman. Where was she...?

Funnily enough, Hyde had never been to a club before, contrasting to Shunnosuke who's a regular club-goer. Not the way he wanted to introduce the redhead to the nightlife, but it's not like they had too many options either. In all honesty, he preferred to do this alone, as he told Zackary he'd do. However, who knows what may happen? That's where Hyde comes in handy. He felt quite bad dragging the redhead to his own mess while keeping him in the dark only to have some protection in case things don't go as planned to him, but...in time, he'd explain his reasons.

— You're fine as you are, Hyde...hm.... — He said, unintentionally not giving too much attention to his friend at all. His eyes were roaming around, searching for any trace of her. Not the easiest task to search for someone, not in a dark place and a sea of heads blocking the vision to whatever side he decided to look at. Until his eyes spotted a familiar face? Happy coincidence? Not in the slightest. It meant that he would have to act extra careful to not unlock the worst possible scenery by accident: a scene, far from his intentions On the other hand, the "familiar face" is nobody less than Julian. — Hm? Oh. Yes, we're...here. Sublimating my anxiety in a bar corner turning oxygen into CO2 instead of drinking. — Julian probably would look at him weirded by his sarcastic response, but it was true: Shunnosuke was definitely anxious, for both the possibility of reaching his target soon and putting someone in danger should things get out of his control. After all, he knew he was being followed by people he'd rather stay far from...

— Alright, enough of slacking off. Hyde, you have a penchant for being a social butterfly, yes? I need you to be one now. Ask around if everyone has any trace of this club's owner, her whereabouts and whatever you're able to discover. It might sound like a silly and sudden request, but it's important, I'll explain it later for we have little time to waste. Her name is Jandice, pay attention to anything told, and try not to be too eccentric and nonsensical about it, will you? Go! — He was deadly serious about this. Hyde was probably the best to gather information from civilians with his usual disposition to approach people...which could backfire horribly, hence why the very expressive demeanor recommendations. If Shunnosuke wasn't so anxious, he'd do it himself. As for Julian... — Do stay close and go along with everything I say. — He wouldn't explain it further, rather turning to the barman in service tonight with an amicable smile. As much as the teen would like their meeting to be nothing like a hurry encounter, he would need his help for when he receives any lead on the famous owner of the Wave's Peak. Other than that, he wouldn't involve Julian unless it's necessary. — Hello! Do you know where I can find Jandice? I really would like to discuss with her something important. You see, my birthday is coming and it got me wondering, what place is the best to rent for one all-night party? I couldn't think of any other than...Wave's Peak, of course! So, yes, what do you say? Do you think she'd be interested? — Needless to say to anyone who knows the Kurosawa, that was a lie.

"Oh Julian!" Hyde would say as he smiled and waved. I'ts a pretty small world, i'm not really into places like this, it's my first time being here and all. " Though Shun was being a bit rude and ancy about Hyde going off and being social somewhere else. "Ouch, if you wanted alone time with Julian, you could of been more straight forward about it. Is the song that bad? " Hyde would say as he shrugged and walked towards a group of people to ask around for the DJ. "Hey Julian, i''m going to find the dj so that the song would change, i guess you can hang out here. " Hyde would then proceed to ask a question to a group of party people he saw. "Hey, have you seen Jandice around today? Doesn't she own this place?

Julian's good mood was quickly taking a nosedive here. He wasn't angry so much as confused and on very much on edge. He should have known better than to walk up to two persona users and imagine that, for an instant, the two would be here together for any other reason than getting work done in regards to...well, the chaos currently happening on the island.

"Just explain when this is over." he muttered just loud enough for Shunnosuke to hear as he took a seat next to the younger boy. He wasn't sure why Jandice was so important to the other teen, but he doubted it was for anything innocent. Heart starting to beat just a little faster and his fingers starting to twitch, he forced himself to take a few deep breaths before Shunnosuke struck up a conversation with the barkeep. From then on he was able to feign polite interest, his proximity to Shunnosuke implying that he was in on this "birthday party" idea of Shunnosuke's.

The barman cleaning the tables looked to Shunnosuke. "I guess she's sick. Or maybe she's in her office in the back. Off to the side door under the stairs. Talk to the two guys there. They watch over it just in case." he said before getting back to his work. The ones partying were slightly distracted, but one girl spoke to Hyde. "What about her? I haven't seen her all night!" she said before continuing to dance.

Door under the stairs, talk to two guys. Fine then. Shunnosuke would smile to the barman, seeming pleased with given answer. — Amazing. I knew I could count on you! — Once he turned his back, the friendly grin wore off, turning into a sour, anxious expression. — Ugh. Jandice’s nobody less than Thesis’s child. The crazy goddess in Standasen, in case you haven’t linked two and two together. Jandice’s a pivotal piece to end her, but first I have to actually convince her. I’m astonished that you don’t know about dream girl’s true identity. — To be honest, he didn’t know if Jandice was indeed Julian’s “dream girl”, or the girl he mentioned in their previous encounter. It was a hunch based on garnered knowledge, chit-chatting with other goers and eavesdropping conversations while inside the club. Once he spotted Hyde among the crowd, he’d quickly make his way between the people dancing to reach to him. — Alone time with Julian is over. Get in here, now. — Shun was definitely in a hurry. Without waiting for any reaction, he’d open his way among the crowd, alone even, following in the recommended direction. Two more obstacles before facing Jandice, eh? Time to put on a partying front again. — Hello, good night! Is Jandice here? I’d love to speak to her if possible. You see, I have plans of renting the club for one night and host my birthday party here, but I need her consent first so we can set a deal. May I arrange a meeting? You can tell it’s Kurosawa, I’m quite a regular client! — He repeated to the two lads, possibly her bodyguards, the same fabricated speech from moments earlier, hoping Jandice’s enterprising, curious side would tingle in sight of a promising deal to the club she maintains.

Hyde frowned. he didn't like the way Shun was treating him right now. What was the big deal? "I thought we were here to have fun....." Hyde would say in a low tone as he followed behind, a bit disappointing that Shun so happened to be in a sour mod on the first time that he invited Hyde to the club. However, he was still hell bent on renting the club for his birthday and something clicked. " Oh! I know why you're mad now, you're associating your birthday with old age! Hyde would then put Julian on the back and grin. Well, just look at Julian, hes aged pretty well, so i dont think you have anything to worry about. However, Julian has some pretty natural skin ....he's also a vegan so......." Hyde didn't know what he was trying to reassure him about but he had to do something right? Julian was there too, so he was trying to lighten up shun so they all could have fun together.

"Sorry, but her being the kid of a psycopathic bitch was never a topic of conversation." Julian muttered as he followed Shunnosuke out onto the dance floor in order to retrieve their friend. He tried talking about her, but she dodged the question. Or...actually, he remembered asking her about college. What she'd done to get this place. And he remembered the confusion on her face, as if she couldn't...no, didn't have a clue what she'd done to get here. "I don't think she knew herself."

As aggravated at the sudden turn of events as he would, he couldn't help but feel a little bad for Hyde. Obviously Shunnosuke asked for his assistance in tracking Jandice down, but failed to specify why he should come to the club. Poor guy. Reigning in his thin patience, Julian managed to smile at Hyde and laugh slightly. "I'm not vegan, just careful with my food choices." He wasn't sure what Hyde meant by "natural skin" though. Was he trying to make a dig at Shunnosuke about plastic surgery or something...?

Before they reached the back of the stairs, Julian leaned in close to Hyde and filled the other in on what was going on. "Sorry Hyde, but apparently Jandice--she owns this place--has ties to Thesis. Y'know, the one wrecking shit in Standansen? Yeah, well, Shunnosuke thinks that Jandice is her daughter and wants to check it out." Clapping Hyde on the shoulder, he gave him a sympathetic smile. "I'll make it up to you. Maybe we can get Shunnosuke to buy us some drinks when this is over, yeah?" Hopefully that got a laugh out of the guy. He seemed pretty down thanks to Shunnosuke's harsh words. Maybe that thought would cheer him up a bit.

As they approached the two men, Julian hung back just enough to make it seem to the two men that he was tagging along, but close enough to where they would assume he was with Shunnosuke and would be entering along with him. Hopefully nothing went wrong here...

The two men in front of the door looked at them oddly. "No one is allowed. Go on now," one said. They did not budge from their positions, perhaps simply talking wasn't going to get them out of it easily. Whatever reason they remained here, it must have been a significant one. Perhaps they were guarding something. But what? What were they even doing?

Well, if she didn’t know herself, then Zackary was right about the “multifaceted personality”. So far, the only valuable hint was the mention to her heterochromia, or dual-color pair of contact lenses, whatever it is. The issues about her psychological state were not known to the boy and now Julian mentioned it, all pieces were connected.

— ...Hyde…please, sweetheart... — He looked at the redhead, resisting his urge to snap at his friend. It wasn’t his fault he didn’t know what the little incursion in the club is for, or even his business with Jandice, and Shunnosuke would make up for him later but right at this precise moment he needed his friend to shut his mouth for a bit. Don’t even breathe, if possible. Not knowing why they were there was one thing, not knowing his birthday was past behind was another thing. Now, leaving the chit-chatting between the Wild Card and Julian behind (he's in such a nervous state he even overlooked the insinuation of doing plastic surgery), Shunnosuke would just smile at the two guys, in a more assertive manner now that lying proved to be not enough of a convincing gimmick. — You clearly don’t get it. I need to talk to Jandice, it’s important, a life-or-death matter. So, excuse me now, but I have some serious business to attend and all of you will thank me later. — That said, he would try to make his way past them and rush to the door’s knob. Perhaps he was being too reckless, but if there wasn’t a way to reach to her, he’d make one. Come hell or high water.

Hyde groaned but he didn't say anything further. IT was nice of Julian to let Hyde in on the big situation at hand, they were chasing a lead. They could of told Hyde then, he wasn't exactly an untrustworthy or unreliable guy. Al this time, Hyde has been in the wrong mind-state when it came to catching on the true purpose as to why he was here. "ohhhhhhhh...................." Hyde would say simply as Julian explained to him why they were here. Julian's cheering up worked pretty well too, as hyde chuckled a bit and smiled at him. "Alright, but i want root beer, been craving it for a week now but i'm supposed to stay away from soda. Cant help it...." Looking back to Shun, he noticed that the bond was trying to squeeze himself in. "Shun?

Damn, simply talking to these guys wasn't doing much good. But that didn't seem to matter to Shun. As Hyde spoke, Julian watched the blonde out of the corner of his eye for any resistance on the part of the guards. After a moment, he'd glance around and see if they'd attracted any attention from any party goers or people nearby. The last thing he wanted was to attract too much unneeded attention. Lucky, the music was loud enough that Shunnosuke's voice was limited just to people nearby. Hopefully that would curtail anyone trying to intervene. Just in case, though, it wouldn't hurt to be ready to act in case someone tried to get in their way, or to follow Shun into the office if possible.
