Your Adventure Log Has Vanished! (Oki)

Oki remembered feeling the same numbness it had felt when Helen had almost killed it way back when. Remembered the surge of power that had saved it and that was about to consume it now as the plant smacked it once more as it tried to get back to its feet to protect DJ and get rid of the thing before it. However, its legs were not that cooperative and before it could try again, DJ was there pressing something to its side as a bright light consumed itself, Persephone and her. When Oki could see again, it blinked as it found itself not in the alternate world, but back in the real world. The run down island and all its strange structures once more before it as Persephone became nothing more than a tattoo upon its back once more.

Oki was filthy and beaten pretty badly, but for the most part didn’t seem to register pain as it crashed into DJ on the way out of the light or when it collapsed to the ground after the whole teleportation thing. No, Oki simply sat quietly in its position with a blank expression on its face as its mind tried to regain its bearings from the sudden changes. It would blink as it heard DJ huff, its green eyes slightly tinted with crimson turning to lock on her as she seemed troubled by something. Oki tilted its head at the frown wondering what was wrong, but found out the answer as DJ spoke her arms crossed and heavy anger and disappointment on her face.

She was apologizing for what she had done….but why? And she said she was not helpful? Oki was quiet for a moment as it simply studied the girl, the blank expression turning into a perplexed one as it tried to figure her out.

“Oki…is not mad with DJ. Confused? Yes. But not mad. DJ did what was logical and right in the situation so there is no need for apologizes. As for you not being helpful to Oki, we have never heard something we did not comprehend so much. Oki could not have survived that long without DJ. Oki is glad to have her with us,” the being said its tone soft and its gaze gentle as it watched the girl carefully.

“DJ does not need to beat herself up, so much. Oki is not strong either, but…perhaps we can work on the issue together, yes? Come back and uproot plant when time is right, hmm?” Oki said as it looked back at the portal with narrowed eyes. Next time that plant would be decorating a plate next to a lovely entrée. It just had to stay right where it was until Oki or maybe even someone else took it out. In the end it would die.

In any case, the being would turn its attention away from the portal and back to DJ as she stood up and spoke again. To her words, Oki gave a light smile.

“No. Oki is happy DJ is safe. That is all that matters to us,” Oki said and then looking at her outstretched hand, the being would look up at the other with a sheepish gaze.

“Hold out both hands and brace yourself…Oki is not light and we do not believe we can stand on our own currently. So forgive the extra weight. We will try to figure our legs out again ASAP,” Oki told her and then if she did listen it would reach out with both hands and grasp the girl’s arms in firm yet gentle grip. Then shifting it would begin to pull on her as it tried to get back up, making sure not to pull the girl down or hurt her while doing this. If DJ showed any sign of not being able to handle the weight, Oki would cease the action and let itself collapse back on the ground, but if she could handle it, then DJ would find herself supporting most of Oki’s weight as it stood on shaky legs holding onto her arms for support as its mind fought for control of its shaky body again. Interestingly enough, despite the injuries and fatigue, Oki did not show any signs of feeling any pain as its eyes slightly tinted with red focused on DJ and getting its coordination back….

Note: Oki is suffering from fatigue and injuries, but doesn't realize how bad it is injured due to being unable to register pain. Currently, attempting to use DJ as support without hurting her.

Oki was no fool. As soon as it put it weight upon DJ it could see the girl putting on a brave face as she did her best to bring it to safety; however, Oki knew this would not last for long and before it knew it they were both going down, DJ from exhaustion and Oki from its legs gave up wanting to work again. More concerned for the girl, Oki leaned forward just as she mentioned losing her balance. Oki would shake its head lightly as it smiled lightly.

“It is fine DJ. As long as you are not hurt, Oki is fine with this,” the being said in gentle tones, trying to comfort and reassure the girl. Honestly, she did not need to be superwoman in this situation. Oki was just glad…glad she had not abandoned it. Even with difficulties the girl still stayed at its side…

Oki was more appreciative of that simple act that the girl could know. Even as it looked around the area for perhaps some sign of help or something to aid with getting it off the ground easier, the being was calm and tried to remain positive in this most frustrating and somewhat embarrassing event. While Oki was quite used to collapsing, this was the first time in years it had been unable to stand in front of another. The being forgot how awkward this made things….

Eh? Friend?

Oki tilted its head at DJ’s words as it considered what she said. A friend would be nice, but who was said friend? Hmmm…well maybe Oki would find out if said friend came to help them. After all if DJ trusted said person then…it should be alright…right?

Allowing itself to trust a bit more, it would nod lightly at DJ as it spoke.

“Mmm. I think that is a good idea,” Oki said with a smile that hide nerves about the situation. It had always been leery of new people, but with DJ here maybe things would be fine.

Oki remained in its seated position knowing it was tired and perhaps badly injured despite not being able to feel it in the normal sense. It just felt tired and could feel something akin to tightness running through its body. These were tell-tell signs that the body was overworked and some form of injuries were on it, but where Oki could not tell. In any case, being unable to feel the pain of injuries left Oki relatively calm and focused on the situation. It wasn’t that it did not care about itself, but rather it didn’t have the ability to worry about itself too much thanks to how screwed up those facilities within were both mentally and physically.

In any case, the being would remain looking around taking note of the light haze of purple fog around the area. It was only when DJ spoke that Oki looked back at the girl and listened to her words.

“Oki came…because Oki wanted to. We like data and have a duty to help out areas being tormented. Outside of that the answer is quite simple. We like you and thought it would be interesting to see if we really meshed well and from what I’ve gathered we can. We just need more practice is all,” Oki said with a light smile and then becoming serious Oki would give the girl a stern look.

“You are no burden. Never were. We all have things we can and cannot do. There is no shame in that….besides,” Oki said as it looked at the ground a bit flustered as it spoke its next words. “Doesn’t family watch out for family…?” the being asked its cheeks slightly red from actually admitting this truth out loud. It didn’t want to come off as creepy or anything, but…it really did see the girl as family. Hopefully, she would understand. Wheteher she did or not was left in the air as the subject would shift to silence as the girl got her phone and dialed her friend.

The friend’s name was Calvin….and she told the friend Oki needed help because it fell from a tree? Okay, it was easy to play off its exhaustion and a tree falling could be the excuse for why its legs weren’t working…so maybe it could work. There were a few trees in the area. Odd trees that would make anyone question why anyone would climb them in the first place; however, Oki suppose it could make up something if the tree falling thing was questioned or let DJ do the talking. Neh. It would figure it out when that bridge needed to be crossed. For now, it focus was only on itself and a trouble DJ.

A chilled wind blew through the area ruffling hair as it tugged against lose clothing and jingled the artifacts upon Oki. There was silence for a while, but then DJ spoke. To her words, Oki would listen as it looked down not sure how to handle this situation.

“We understand not wanting to harm others or see them get harmed by something; however, no matter how much we don’t want things to happen they do….but that is why Oki fights. It has taken a long time to understand why one would need to fight, but once I found something precious I understood it was to protect that thing. However, Oki cannot protect what is precious to us from everything. I just…know you have to be there for them when they fall. Like you are here now with me and that is all I could really ask for. You…don’t abandon us and we appreciate it. As for caring for ourselves,” Oki would hesitate as the girl sat down next to it completely put out by the situation.

“We…don’t know how to care for ourselves. We know we are hurt, but…I feel only exhaustion and tightness. I feel no other pain….and to be honest it is a bit scary seeing you so concerned for us. You see things that Oki cannot and that on its own scares us. So please don’t be upset, DJ. It is fine just like this. We'll be okay,” Oki said as it let itself lean against the girl next to it as it rested its head on her shoulder, trying to comfort her despite not really knowing how too.

It was hard seeing those that were close to it break. Oki honestly didn’t know what to do with such emotions. It wasn’t trained to handle such things and the little time it did spend with such things never could prepare it for handling the situation fully. Still even underprepared and lost as to what to do, Oki did what it could to cheer DJ up. It wasn’t sure if it was working at first, but slowly, but surely the girl seemed to perk up….and that. That made Oki happy.

When DJ came off of her initial shock and smiled before speaking, Oki blinked at the girl as she called it a sweet heart. Sweet heart? Did that mean that its heart was made out of candy or sugar? Oki was indeed confused at first, but after a moment a lopsided grin appeared on its face as it rubbed the back of its head.

“Hehe. Rin Rin be nice,” it said with a chuckle before it was nodding. “Yeah. We help each other,” Oki said the silly grin turning into a confident smirk about the situation. Sure they had work to do, but that is what it was all about these days right? Getting strong to protect what mattered the most to you from whatever future was coming?

Yeah. That was the path to go now a days.

“I trust DJ to do that and in turn Oki will protect DJ. We can fill in the holes we each have and make ourselves a solid wall. Hard to break,” Oki said as it leaned against DJ’s shoulder.
“Family power…” Oki said softly before becoming quiet for a moment, resting. When it spoke again, its voice was a whisper.

“Neh. DJ…do you believe in gods, demons, and angels?” it would ask. The soft question seemed out of the blue, but one look at Oki would show it was contemplating something as it rested against DJ its eyes looking at the ground blankly. It was still conscious and aware even if its eyes were unfocused at the moment.

“Yeah…family power…” Oki said with a light smile as it kept leaning against DJ. It was wearing out and close to going to sleep, but it fought against it trying to stay awake. Even when DJ suggested it should rest up, the being was stubborn still fighting a bit as it struggled to keep its eyes open and stay alert. It was hard though considering DJ made it feel warm and safe, but it had to stay awake....They were….in a dangerous place still right?

Oki wasn’t sure as its mind began to drift in and out of consciousness, but somewhere in that fog a single question cropped up and so the being asked it out loud to the girl it rested against.

“Hmmm…is that so? That is an intriguing…way of viewing the world. Maybe…she would…like…you…” the last word was said in a barely audioble whisper as Oki finally had to surrender to its tired state. Its body would begin to relax, its weight going against DJ as it began to loose the will to support itself anymore. As DJ shifted, Oki barely budged as it sunk deeper and deeper into unconsciousness.

[Oki has passed out. It will awaken in whatever safe zone Calvin and DJ get it to.]

The being’s body had shutdown even when it had not wanted to do so. It wanted to stay up and keep DJ safe, but the fatigue from battle simply would not allow such a thing to occur. As its eyes closed and its body relaxed, the being would not notice the arrival of DJ’s friend or his strange bird. It would not hear the conversation they had or even register it had been picked up as its body easily rested in the guy’s arms like a limp doll.

For a long while, Oki just remembered floating in darkness, feeling nothing in particular for an undefined time. When that sensation began to fade and some form of conscious began to come back to the being all the body in the bed did was move slightly. A head turn here or the scrunching of eyes there as the being fought to wake up, but failing to do so its body would relax once more upon the bed it was in and it would continue to sleep.

Midnight of the same day….

The heavy sleep and fog that kept Oki out most of the day was finally beginning to wear off allowing the being to fight its way back to the world of consciousness. It took long minutes for its mind to fully activate and with some effort force the heavy eyes open. The eyes opened slowly as the body and breathing remained soft and calm. Oki’s vision was blurred, but after a few sleepy blinks it began to clear as the being took note it was in a room of some sort and there was something attached to it. What was…what was that? Oki turned its heavy head slightly to look at the strange machine next to it with odd readings and then something….poking in its arm. What…? A drip…?

….

Oki’s pulse began to quicken as for one second it thought it was in a lab of some sort and drugged. It tried to move to escape, but its body wouldn’t allow it to go anywhere. Its weight like a ton of sand as its body still tried to recover from the fight. Still panicked, Oki turned its head the other way and froze as it saw DJ, a bird, and some guy it did not know there. Still groggy, Oki focused on DJ calming itself as slowly all the events from before came back. The plant, the talk, fatigue, passing out…hospital.

It was…in a hospital and the gent next to DJ had to be the friend she spoke of. And the bird? Well, Oki had no clue what the bird had to do with anything and to be honest was too tired to try to understand the strangeness at the moment as its body relaxed and it looked away from the pair closing its heavy eyes for the moment as it let the last of the fear where off. It was safe...just like DJ had promised. Good….

[Oki is conscious again and still waking up. It will be able to talk a bit next round.]

Oki blinked sleepy as it mentally knocked away the fog in its mind. It body was still in a sand bag mode, but at least it felt better than before. Still, it would take some more time before it was fully functional. Oki remained quiet for a bit longer until it heard DJ speaking.

The being would blink at her words sleepily as it turned its head in her direction taking note of the other voice in the room and the fact DJ was conversing with said voice. The voice must’ve been…the friend and a male from what the being could judge from the calm voice. It could hear them talking about it and while it would’ve responded back playfully, it instead smiled lightly at the pair as it watched them interact. They seemed to be close, but in what way the being could not say.

In any case, that cute little scene aside Oki managed to open its lips and respond back to both.

“I…am as awake …as I am going to be…for now…” it said its voice hoarse as it closed its eyes sleepily. “Mostly okay….upstairs…just body is…tired…We'll survive...No worries...”Oki said giving the status of how it was feeling at the moment. It was quiet for a while once more before it spoke again.

“How long have we’ve been here?....I hope we are not holding…you up from something…”
