As she fled into the darkness, the wind would chase her but fade away after the distance, so she would be outside its range, though the machine wasn't. It still showed no obvious signs of damage. Though she would appear again, this time much further up and taking a great leap over the flurry of wind, above the halfway point in height of the room. "Of course you don't deserve it. Ungrateful wretch. You fled when you could have grown into something great. You decided to bring all of the other experiments and people down with you." She would swing her sword again, and another volley of needles was emitted from her blades in a 7 meter radius in a circle heading straight for Sharaku while he was midair with an angle towards the ground, cutting off his escape window to the onslaught even further. Since he had chosen to only make a slight movement backwards with no variation, he would be in a very dangerous position as he would be falling towards the ground in perfect range of the attack after his skill was over, which left him little room to avoid it. Were it to hit him, he would be sent backwards towards the wall of the stairs when hitting the ground, and one could only wonder if he would get hurt in any real ways. It was only five meters, so it would not be very likely unless the man was weak-bodied, but he was still being suddenly shot to the ground at a quicker rate from the attack which could throw him off if he wasn't careful, and afterwards be in another dangerous position whether he was hit or not. Though the agent would land some distance away, she would be sprinting her way to him to attempt to close the gap, watching him closely to see if he had any way out of this sticky situation that he may have just put himself in. She was definitely athletically fit, and her movement showed in how fast she was making her way to him.

At any rate, Sharaku was expecting her to attempt attacking him in the air in some way if she dodged the wind, and he definitely had little intention to stay right where he was now in that case. Though, there weren’t many options to take. Up was pretty much impossible from this point, since he couldn’t fly. Not that he would even want to stick himself to the ceiling. That would do him literally nothing. The only choice was to try to get down faster than he would by simply waiting for gravity to do the trick on its own. He already knew she was fast, so risking it would be a bad option. And from his view it was obvious enough she wasn’t having trouble with the wind, therefore she was definitely going to do something. This was really being a pain.

Seeing as he was already in a slight backwards motion, the best bet was to keep the direction for now. Time to change tactics was in order, however. Wind would help him little now, not having anything to bounce it off of. Instead of attempting to fire off an attack, he would simply freeze up solid, thick ice from the tip of his weapon, sort of like a jagged icy sword that would reach to approximately 2 meters, and at the same time swinging both of his arms over his head and backwards. With the force of the added weight, and the ice somewhat cutting through the air resistance, he would make a sharp backflip with his legs bent, which he would then kick towards the ground after the rotation, forcing himself to swoop down much faster than he would have before, without the motion and a bit more weight to appeal to gravity. With all that, he should be able to be low enough by the time the second set of needles reached him, having it fly over him. It would probably be a close call, but nevertheless, as long as he wasn’t getting pierced through, all good…for now.

Due to breaking his original fall, and swooping pretty much straight down, he would land a bit farther from the back wall than planned, which also meant closer to her. And it seemed she wanted to go close up…well, no choice in that one. He would swing his weapon sharply as he steadied his ground, breaking the ice off, sending it spinning towards her like a bone club. He wasn’t expecting to hot her with her speed, unless she’d be startled enough..but might as well do something with it. Right after that, he would snap his fingers, materializing a bunch of black/violet butterflies which would flutter towards her, getting into her face and vision as much as they could. He needed a bit of time to think of his next move…also, if he could slow her down a bit, it would only be useful. ‘’So you say I should be grateful for someone pushing things I do not want onto me? Is that your logic? I believe you dislike your current position yourself..shouldn’t you yourself be grateful for what they’re giving you now despite your distaste, if I should? How can I even know I wouldn’t have ended up like you had I been a good dog and stayed?’’ To be honest, the only thing he got from that, was that she was desperately trying to prove she was the one that was right here. How can she seriously believe there was anything to be grateful for after what they’ve done to him…And wasn’t she complaining about being punished just a while ago? Pretty much the same people were behind that. You know, don’t tell others to do what you do not. Because he seriously doubted she was grateful for what she had gotten so far. Besides, throwing insults at him only served to prove the point more. She was just bitter because it went wrong for her, and nothing else mattered, apparently.

Even though Sharaku’s attack somehow allowed him to hit the ground quicker, the attack was still aimed towards his position, and only succeeded to keep him in range of the attack. So he would still take the volley of arrows from the previous attack, however he would already be at the ground so he would have little risk of any possible side-effects. But, the assault from the agent would continue all the same, even as Sharaku send the butterflies towards her face, which did indeed distort her vision to a degree. Even more astoundingly, she ran straight into the club and did not get any weaker in her assault. In fact, the club essentially melted when it touched her, almost like it was seeped into her skin, leaving no trace of the ice attack behind. Her original plan however when making her way to him would have to be stopped, as she was definitely distracted by the butterflies and could not attack him directly. What she would do instead would be to stop dead in her tracks and slam the ground with her blades; sending spires of rocks more than human height (ten feet tall) towards Sharaku spread out around seven meters towards the wall of the tomb next to the stairs, which sent a loud boom and cracks following on the wall. She didn’t get any closer to him, but she had still been running, and since her vision was distorted, she could only fire straight ahead and could not change direction if Sharaku found a way to sidestep it. But the attack would have still started at a rather closer distance, as they were just about at melee distance, and the earth shot out at a decent speed, at least being an attack of such a high tier; some efficiency was definitely expected. It also had its field of range, so at the distance or lack thereof between the two, gave this attack a fairly high probability of slamming him backwards into the wall even despite her impairment as this attack required less aim being something that hits an area, leaving a crater in the wall and cracks forming near the top of the ruins. With all the struggle, eventually these ruins could be destroyed if this fight continued out of control. Regardless of the outcome, The woman would be seething at this point. Though her face still looked like she was concentrating, however it was clear she was through playing games. She hadn’t turn into blind rage yet, even though her aim and agility was slightly impaired for a bit.

This was getting rather annoying. That attack hurt, but at the very least, Sharaku could keep his ground and not get sent backwards into the wall. That would have been a very bad idea with her on his tail. That aside, it was a bit downputting that she 'ate' his ice. That didn't leave him with many options here. Great. He wasn't trying to stress over it though, getting too anxious would only distract him...and she was already doing that well enough.

In any case, her stop in movement most likely meant she was going to throw something at him again..which meant he had to get away, as usual. Whether she was seeing well or not from the distractions, he wouldn't risk staying in one place for a longer period of time. He would take a swift step to the side to get some momentum, freezing the ground under himself, and towards in the sideways direction he was going to, sending himself skidding on the frozen layer of the ground, allowing for much quicker movement than normal walking, finishing it off with a slight jump from where the ice ended to make sure he wouldn't end up in the range of the flying rocks.

After that, he would turn to face towards her swiftly, sending a large wave of swooshing wind towards her from where he was facing her now, therefore, aiming at her from the side. The wind flurry would spread at around 6.5 meters, reaching up to 11 feet, a little higher than her previous rocks, but not starting literally from the ground, leaving slightly under a foot underneath it. Meanhwile, the ice he had used before would start melting already, since it wasn't a strong move, and he only froze as much as was needed to make the ground smooth to move on. He wasn't sure what she was doing with the ice, but after seeing her stunt from before, he did not intend to let her somehow use it to her advantage in case she could.

At any rate, unless she'd avoid the swirling wind, it would send her flying to the other side from him a good few meters with the force. He would frown slightly. It was hard not to take notice of her earth based attacks cracking the walls and everything. ''Are you trying to make the whole room fall apart and kill us both now?''

Under normal circumstances that wind attack from Sharaku would have definitely been easy to avoid. But not knowing where he would go on top of him sending it out right after he went to the right only made it a bit more annoying. She could not at all go on the offensive if she were to avoid this attack; not to mention that she did not hear Sharaku slam into a wall or make any noises of distress, leading her to believe he probably evaded her attack. After the attack was finished, she stabbed the ground again, this time making a literal wall of earth shoot up from the ground right around her and hitting the ceiling of the tomb, protecting her from any attack that might hit her. The true downside to this is that while she was safe, she was still kept in one spot and could not move, not knowing where the attack was coming from. The wind would simply crash into the earth and would disperse, but destroy the earth wall itself. The wall also made another boom in the ruins, which didn't bode well for the future of this ancient relic. The upside to this attack however besides that she was still safe, was that Sharaku could not touch her for the duration of the attack. Though the wind would perhaps turn it into a moot point once her wall fell. It was essentially her way to stall, as soon she would have her vision returned, and for the time being, was not harmed. "Anything if it means one less of you in this world." She hissed.

So she was just going to stand there. That changed things up a little bit. If getting distance between them failed, then they might as well get close up. Seeing her simply defend instead of attempting to avoid what was coming at her, Sharaku would run after his own attack, towards her as she made a wall to block out the coming wind. He couldn't do much right away, but the fact that she completely blocked herself out meant there was no way she could tell where exactly he was either, due to not being able to see through her own attack until it faded away. He would do his best to get as close as he could before the two attacks collided, before sending another wave of wind at her, identical to the last one right after the previous attacks clashed, destroying each other. Let's see what she would do now. They were much closer than before. Not necessarily completely point blank, as he couldn't really run as fast as wind flew, but close enough that it would give her very little time to avoid. Even less than her previous rocks she threw at him. Coupled with the fact that the previous attacks having a clash just a moment ago would probably be distracting on its own, it wouldn't give her an easy time with this one. If the wind hit her, it would send her flying back with an even greater force than it would have the last time, due to being slammed into her from a closer distance.

He would watch out for her response, in case she somehow turned this around. Getting attacked at a close range was dangerous after all. Better be careful. ''So you'd rather be a killer than even consider a different way? I wonder how would you feel if someone else acted towards you in this manner, and just kept claiming you should die, because they say so. You say one less...aren't you the same as me? Or are those swords of yours a Persona then?'' There was always a chance different kinds of powers existed...but she had previously said she had been around back then..that suggested a high chance that she was either the same, or at least similar to him. She was using a weapon instead of summoning a Persona too after all. What was she trying for? She claimed to wants to see his kind die, but wasn't she included then? Besides, he still didn't get how would his death help her gain her freedom. The only thing she would accomplish was staining her hands with someone's blood, and perhaps even regretting it once she calmed down. He doubted whoever put her in this position would let her go after she did this. They would most likely just sick her onto another task if they saw she was being useful. If they could go as far as experimenting with living humans, why would they be any benevolent here? By acting this way, she would only get people to hate her...was that what she wanted?

There really was nothing she could do. Had her eyes not have been deteriorating for the past couple of turns and her movement not impaired, she may have been able to move. But, she ended up taking a flurry of wind to her face and flying backwards and landing towards the machine to the side of it. She looked up forward to Sharaku, now close to the position she herself was in before, which still left them about seven to eight meters apart. She could make distance between the two, but it was bad enough that she could not see as well as she should. It was time to get a little bolder.

She began to run straight ahead towards his general direction, though her eyes were a little fuzzy, she could at least make out his figure. After the first steps she began to glide along the ground like she had done before, and then leaping when she was within about five meters from Sharaku, she would slice her blades along the ground and hold her position, causing the earth between them at about 10 meters apart to crumble up into sands and sediment, and suddenly fly towards Sharaku with a height up to the ceiling. The sand would be moving fast akin to a sandstorm, which by its very nature was very hard to avoid and attempt to slice at Sharaku with the many small sharp particles that it contained. Since they were on one side of the staircase, she knew that there would be only one place to run, and could have the sand follow him if he chose to make that path. It was either take the sand, or try to maneuver into a position where he could capitalize off of this. The choice was his own. “What I am is someone who is taking responsibility for my actions.” Was all she said to him.

..So he hit her this time. Yet, Sharaku wouldn't say he found it any enjoyable. This whole fight was just...ridiculous, and his opinion had not changed from the start. He disliked her actions, yes, but he didn't hate her specifically. She most likely thought she had a good reason to be doing this, despite the fact that he disagreed with her. Killing people should not be the option you choose as the first one, unless it is necessary. Was it? He had no intention of purposefully harming her, therefore, he didn't think going berserk about it was the right thing to do.

She was efficient with the ground, that was for sure. Though, at this rate, she was probably going to destroy this whole place with her attacks. Admittably, he could have attempted to dodge the sand, or even just destroy it with one of his own attacks...but this fight..he just didn't see the point of it. He wasn't angry like she was, and he never really liked pointless violence. And..he wasn't really worried about her earthly skills much. That was something he could take well. The needles she liked using were a different cup of tea, but still manageable. Unexpected? Maybe, but he would stay where he was, not attempting to run from the attack, or retaliate right now. He would simply brace himself as the sand particles swiped past. It wasn't pleasant, but it didn't hurt him that badly. After that, he would just calmly walk forwards a bit, looking at her.

''So going berserk and murdering people is your responsibility all of a sudden? To me, it seems like you're just trying too hard. Do you actually like doing this? You were different back at the festival. Was all that just a lie? I don't believe this is necessary.''

Why did he stop? Her eyes had recovered so she would be able to see that Sharaku didn't move at all to evade the hit. What was he doing? He wasn't even fighting. He was lecturing her. "Maya Briggs" growled and looked down at her blades before looking at Sharaku. She would not take his words so lightly. "And you're any better?! You live your life as a lie like you don't remember what you came from! At least I know remember what brought me here. You don't deserve the life you fought for. No one does. I am just trying to make sure people don't forget. People like you are trash and need to be taken care of. Don't act like you understand me!"

She pointed her blade at him, and a debilitating aura would pressure Sharaku and weaken his overall prowess. When he brought up their meeting at the festival, her eyes scrunched together a bit, and she began to run to him with her above average speed. "People don't see others for what they really are. I am a liar, and this world is too cruel to understand people like us. It doesn't mean I will think of you any more than what you are." and attempted to slice at his body with her two blades; the first blade aiming for his right side towards his leg while the other blade at the same time was aiming for the shoulder on his left side. Sharaku now had lessened agility, so this attack was not going to be as easy as it may have been to avoid before. She also was closing the distance rather quickly, and these weapons were no folly. With his deteriorated body, he would take more pain if he chose to not dodge. Would Sharaku attempt to speak to her again or would he try to get back to the fighting? She did at least respond to him, so perhaps Maya understood what he felt. But she couldn't let how she and others' felt get in the way of her mission.

She sure liked making assumptions. He never said he was actually better than her, nor did he claim he understood her. That wasn't possible unless she let someone understand her, or the person was a mind reader. ''I never said I can understand you right now. That doesn't mean I cannot try to. I know what I am well enough. And in case there is more to it than I have managed to gather, then it is not my fault. I was never told what were they doing with me, and why. I however don't see a logical reason here. 'No one deserves what they fight for.' With that mindset, no one in the world deserves to get anything they want. What's the point then? All humans would cease to exist if they weren't allowed to achieve anything.'' He knew he was most likely risking by letting her do what she wanted, but he would still remain calm about the situation. Whether it was good or not to be stubborn right now he wouldn't know. But he wasn't like her. He wouldn't gain anything by knocking her out. She could just follow him again later. And he had no interest in going as far as killing her. Disliking something or someone was not adequate enough to want them dead in his opinion.

He knew it would hurt when she came at him. Yet, he wouldn't move this time either.. Heh, as they say, no pain no gain. As much as no pain would be more pleasant. He would stand his ground the best he could, wincing somewhat as she ran him through with her weapons. ''No one is understood completely. Humans are no mind readers. Life is cruel to many people, not just those like us. What am I then? What makes me worse than those people that would kill others without remorse, and do similar despicable acts on purpose? Maybe we're different than some, but I think it helps us none if we add to it by opposing each other.'' He would keep standing where he was, staring at her with a determined gaze. Perhaps he was being a fool, but he didn't intend to waver easily, despite the position she was putting him in. He wouldn't attack her still, choosing to focus on keeping himself up for now.

And again! He didn't try to do anything. He just healed his wounds like what she was doing was futile. She was slowly getting upset, in a different way than she already was. She looked at Sharaku with reviled expression. "And there are roads you take that can never be changed. I cannot change who I am. Nor can I truly earn freedom while a single one of your kind still exists. I cannot be redeemed, but I won't let chaos run rampant because of you all. I am trying to win a life too, and I can't let you get in my way." She spread her blades and from the sand made by her previous attack, a large wave would form under her feet and carry her straight into Sharaku, her blades at the ready to slash him in the face to chest area while the earth attempted to hit him at the same time. The sand and shift in the earth made more cracks around the area of the ruins. They were getting weaker and weaker as this woman was defiling an old relic to attack this man and it looked like at any moment one area could snap or another could give way and begin to topple it down. Sharaku could try to take on the wave, but he had his strength weakened at the moment and could not fight back so easily. If he attempted to fly up into the air, she would have the wave concentrate up underneath her so she could catch him and swipe at him with her soulbound weapons. Another option he had would be to attack her herself, but he would be ignoring the wave and relying on his own ability to take her off. They were already close with each other so Sharaku had little time and even less speed to help him with. Maya's expression was pained as she attacked the peaceful experiment. Maybe in the dark pits of her heart she felt remorse, as Maya was suddenly getting more aggressive in her attacks and less like a missionary sent on a hunt for a fugitive like she was trying to deny his words not only verbally, but physically. Maybe there was some part of her that didn't want this to be, but she had killed the light in her long ago. She had to do this to claim a world she never knew. Maya Briggs had to find a way to live in this world, away from tyranny. And if returning those who have bonded with a Shadow was required, then she would have no choice.

She was strange. Sharaku still didn't understand the big why behind it all. How would killing however many there were earn her real freedom? There would be less people on Earth, and? Unless it was supposed to inspire a miracle, then he had troubles seeing the point behind it. If she was told to do it with a promise...then, wouldn't it be logical that the people behind it would want her dead as well at the end of it all? She was one of those she was killing herself. It just...didn't fit together no matter how he thought about it.

Despite all she was saying, he still didn't feel any incentive to attack her. Even less than that. It was sort of funny. She claimed she couldn't change who she was. Perhaps, some things cannot change..but there are many more that can. He knew that well enough. After all, if this fight had happened at least a good few months back in time, he probably wouldn't have cared. He wouldn't have chosen to stand and take it like this in the past. That sure meant he wasn't the same anymore. And who knew where that would get him. All in all, he wouldn't make a move to get away this time either, only taking a few steps backwards from the impact of her assault.

''The past cannot be changed, but the present and future can, to a certain extent. People do change. Otherwise, humans wouldn't be able to move forward. I am not the same I was when I came here either. I wonder. What is freedom to you? How will you be more free after killing a bunch of people? You'll just have blood on your hands, perhaps even regret what you've been doing..and you'll be alone. Chaos is happening whether we are here or not. Plenty of people have what it takes to create it, maybe even more than anyone like me does.'' This battle was no fun for him right now, but when he got stubborn, he wouldn't change his mind easily. And seeing how the room was holding up brought up the question...how long could this even last? Honestly, at this rate, the ceiling would fall on them before the fight ended in any way. He could take earth well...but not that kind of 'earth'. Rubble would hurt bad. ''...I kind of feel that you're the one actually putting me in your way. I never had the intention of holding you back from what you want. You're the one who seems to believe I'm doing it just by existing like you are. I didn't even know who you were before we met here. I'm standing in your way right now, because you called me here, no?'' Seriosuly however, he wouldn't be in her way if she didn't force him to be. Secondly, he wasn't even actively trying to get in her way now. He could have blown her backwards before she started rounding up on him in close range. He didn't even do that. And if she believed he was getting in her way simply just by being, then she was a little narrow-minded. He never aimed to make her fall. But surely, there was a more sound way than killing people who just want to live?

And again! He still wasn’t fighting. He was just talking, trying to get her to stop, and simply patching himself up if things went wrong. Nothing was denting him so easily. She only got more frustrated. Trying to be passive. She had to now take some more permanent measures. “People do many things for something they desire. You are no different. Death is not a choice, it’s a fact.” She began to glide across the ground to Sharaku’s right at an angle towards the wall, the same distance from him, and stabbed the ground and pulled out, shooting large shards from a spread from the wall to five meters to her right back to Sharaku, and then shifting back in front of him, throwing second volley towards the ceiling above him, crashing and releasing large rocks larger than him down upon him, reaching to the stairs and entrance as far as distance goes. It seemed that through all of this, Maya really did intend to bury Sharaku alive on way or another. Sharaku was running out of chances to try and talk. It was either time to act or continue playing the passive one. If not, he had two problems, as his back was to the stairs also where part of the ceiling was falling, and Maya on one side, a volley of projectiles from another, and actual rocks that if they fell on him would certainly bury him as Maya hoped. Sharaku was stuck between several rocks and even more hard places; many options were dangerous, and some could even kill him. She was done talking, and it was now time to stop prolonging the inevitable.

Tsk. It was true that Sharaku did not really want to fight her as things were, but on the other hand, her approach was starting to annoy him to a certain extent. She wasn't even trying to listen. Sure, death was perhaps a fact, but not under these circumistances. Everyone dies one day, but it doesn't mean that you have to accept that when it isn't necessary. She spoke as if saying that was enough to justify doing what she was. Yet, it would mean that she herself wasn't any different either. If death was a fact, why was it not supposed to apply to herself, but only him here? What power did she have to dictate someone else's fate with that kind of a statement? It just sounded arrogant. She didn't like this...fine, he would move. He didn't really want to, but she wasn't giving him a choice, right? He could play this game too, as distasteful as it was. Besides, taking all her hits was no fun...and while he had no problem when she simply barraged at him straighforward, he kind of didn't want to risk it too much when she suddenly went to the right. There were too many walls around for that to be a good thing.

With the previous experience in mind, he didn't want to try going up..nor would it be any good at the place where he was, therefore, the only way was forward. Back and left were a close dead end, and she went to the right to do her thing, so that was out of question. He couldn't act fast enough to intercept her yet, and definitely not in this position. Moving was still a little hard on its own, due to which he would resort to using the same strategy as he had back when avoiding her close up earth attack. He couldn't run quick enough on its own, but it didn't matter as much when using outside sources. He didn't need to actually do much to slide on an icy surface. And his balance didn't get that bad even with the spell she had used before.

In any case, it proved to be a good enough idea when she immediatelly followed her assault by destroying the ceiling over his head and behind. That wasn't something he could block out if he had stayed there. He hadn't planned on facing her right away either, but since she decided to stay in front, he'd have to, as there wasn't a different way to go at the moment. With a frown, he would jump forward as far as he could where his ice ended, pretty much attempting to tackle her with the momentum from the slide..to at least get her to stumble if nothing else. In case he did hit, which he didn't truly expect with the speed she was showing off all the time. In case she moved out of the way, he would just stop and watch wherever she went from his position. ''Is it always? If I claimed you need to die right now for some reason, would that classify as a fact that has to happen?'', his tone was somewhat cool now. He was getting tired of her just brushing whatever he said off.

If by some miracle he dodged it however, the attack would crash into the ceiling and send even more stones down towards his head. She would also slash forward with her weapons to attempt to knock him back into her attack if he made his way forward, but if he could make it, he would have a lot more to deal with. “One day I will die, and I will deserve it.
