Well, of course she would just attack him while he went forth. No, he didn't really have a way of forcefully changing direction completely without any special maneuvers, but it was fine. He wasn't really going to try that. Besides, anything that aimed towards the ceiling was dangerous. He could take the attacks themselves, but he had little ways to deal with real rocks. Maybe they could get blown away, or deflected with ice...but he wasn't in the mood to risk trying that. Therefore, he would let her needles hit him this time, the blows slowing his forward motion a little. And since she had backed away initially, it did put a bit of a distance if she wanted to slash at him when combined with him slowing down. And he didn't intend to let her do that. It was really annoying by now. He would send another flock of butterflies into her face to distract her, immediatelly following that by a wave of wind around 10 feet high and 5 meters wide, to blow her away. It was easier to do now that her previous spell ran out, allowing him to act faster. And it wouldn't be easy to dodge for her, as he did just before she went to slash him backwards. That meant they were fairly close..just enough apart for her weapons to not reach her before he attacked. ''I don't believe I did anything that is worth an acual mess after getting away, unless I'm mistaken. And if me running counts as that, it is their fault. They pushed me too far. I did not cause anything on purpose. If that is enough for a death warrant these days, then it's sad to think where the world is heading.''

Maya felt a flurry of butterflies hit her face, and following it, a large wind overtaking her. She flew back, and rolled, lifting herself up, breathing heavily. Maybe Sharaku was in the right, and Maya didn't want to accept it. But her hands were tied no matter what she thought or believed. Regardless, her steam was starting to run out a bit, but she couldn't let up here. But to compensate, the same large tidal wave of sand about ten meters apart and almost double Sharaku's height would come barreling towards him. Should he try to attack Maya off the tidal wave, she would send her foot into his chest and knock him into the wave itself. Like before, if he tried to fly into the air she would bring the wave together into a spire and shoot her up to grab him and bring him straight into the ground. The wave would go right into the wall if Sharaku attempted to back up, and since her skill to run into his general direction had plenty of speed, evading to the right or left was ill-advised.

With how she has taken a liking to attempting to crash the ceiling onto him, Sharaku did not really want to stay far from her anymore. If he was close, she couldn't attempt that without risking herself getting hurt too after all. Therefore, he wouldn't stay where he was when she got blown backwards, running after her to minimize the distance. The fact that she chose to send more sand his way was a little troubling, but he wouldn't let that bother him. At the distance he was from her now, it would require complicated maneuvers to accomplish a dodge, and honestly, so far, explicitly taking the time to avoid had done him little good. It hurt to take it so often, but sometimes, offense was the best defense. As much as he hated to admit it. He still wasn't fond of having to scruffle with her...but it didn't seem she would consider a different way while she still had the energy to stand.

He wouldn't stop moving at all, taking the wave head on, charging through it the best he could with his momentum. Whether she expected it or not, he would simply march right towards her, attempting to slash her through once he was close enough. If she tried to kick him backwards, despite the fact that he already took her attack from before, he would instead raise both of his hands to block it with the first slash, and attempting to take hold on her leg with his other hand, which would make it harder for her to speed off somewhere. Whether any of that was succesful or not, he would quickly follow up with a wave of wind, same as before. He would keep his eyes on her all the time, and if she had dodged his weapon and went in a different direction than staying in front of him, he would instead turn around on his heel and send it in whichever direction she would take off, unless she somehow made him unable to attack. She did have her momentary speedy tricks, but combined with his butterflies from before, it wouldn't be that much above his own. ''...''

As much as she wanted to, she could not take all of those at once. Instead of head-on assaulting him, she leaped from the wave of earth as it came barreling to him, leaving her out of his range. But of course, being in the air against a wind attack along with a debuffed agility was a dangerous maneuver, and would bring her right to the ground. Her steam was running low, and she could definitely understand that it was partially her for taking so much risk. This man would have to die here and now. But while Sharaku probably guessed it, she was like him, and if it wasn't confirmed, it would be, when her blades almost looked like they were melting yet keeping their shape, and falling onto her body, coating her in a metal plate. It looked as though she was turning less human and more of an android.

"We have an impasse it seems...but a question. How do you feel about your Shadow? Do you treat it like it's one of you, or do you despise being a part of it like the ones who made you that way? I have yet to find someone who truly loves the Shadow they are bonded with. Are you just like them?" Despite asking a question, she didn't truly care so much. She didn't even know the name of her own Shadow, and it never spoke to her, sometimes causing harm to her. Perhaps they were similar. She has felt nothing but pain throughout this entire fight; and she was envious of Sharaku, who probably had no such limitation. As she spoke, she slid on the ground up and on the way, sent a volley of projectiles once more, around 15 meters wide and now at the height of the ceiling from around 5 meters away given the previous attacks, and then flying past him and then sending another volley from behind. He was now being completely stuck between two rocks and a hard place, as both sets were coming in from both sides, and Sharaku now at the end of his rope. Maya was confident at this point, despite being weak herself. Had Sharaku himself been under this same condition, escaping would be easy, but now...it looked grim. Even with her lack of agility, the skill she used would do the work for her, and all she had to do was watch. Though it was clear she was at the end of her rope. Her Last Life definitely showed it, but she even looked a lot weaker. This battle, would finally be over...

Well, at least one of his attempts made contact. At any rate, he wasn't about to change his strategy now. Sharaku did not intend to stay more than a short distance from her if he could help it. Therefore, he would do the same as the last few times. Run in her direction when she jumped off and took his wind. The closer he was to her, the less she could maneuver around, and he has already seen that some of her moves were dangerous when she had range to put them to use. Besides, hitting her was easier too when he could fight her speed by giving her very little time to dodge whatever was coming at her. He would narrow his eyes when she suddenly started to change her appearance, though he wouldn't halt moving. He had an idea what that meant. If she was really like him, which he was fairly sure of, then it must have meant she was beat up pretty bad by now. At least, that was as much as he could tell. It had only happened to him once in the past, and it was when the opposing Shadows almost killed him. He did not get to do much more back then, so he didn't know what else it meant. However, he wasn't about to take chances. He was getting tired out as well...physically not so much yet, but he couldn't cast spells forever without a single break. She sure had been tossing him around. If he didn't need to act to dodge, then he had to keep himself up, or actually do it to retaliate. That puts a damper on it after a while.

All that aside, he would just keep running in her direction, keeping his eyes on her for whatever she'd do. She just stayed where she was when making her transformation, until sometime mid her talk. She could have figured he wouldn't wait for her to make a move and trap him in something. He had not been staying in place much the last few exchanges. Well, not his problem, at least she gave him an easier time to avoid her assault, whatever it would be. She hadn't landed that far from what he could tell, and it didn't take epic times to run a shorter distance, if he already started when she was being hit by his previous attack. With the distance at which she went to attack him afterwards, he could whizz past her at that point. Unless she aimed the first volley to hit in the direction behind her, he could make it past, even if he had to dive roll for it to cover enough distance in time.

On the other hand, the second one coming from behind would catch up to him, unless it had a different angle than straighforward. And he couldn't do much about that. Suddenly changing a direction right after was hard, even if he was in a better state than she was with her lowered agility and overall weakness from having taken so many blows. And it would hurt. But one would not be enough to take him down...however, enough to put him in a similar spot as her. Just not as low as she appeared to be at the moment. His skin would bleed dark gray and black, making his appearance more dark and shadow like.

With a slight frown, he would make to look in her direction, finally taking a moment to answer her previous question, having ignored it in favor of focusing on movement. ''My answer is neither. I can't say love. That is a strong word. But I don't despise him either. Nor do I truly despise the people that did this to me. I won't deny that I dissaprove, and am a little bitter, but I don't know enough about it to hate them. I may not like my position very much, but I accept it for what it is. If there was no way to get along with a Shadow, I would have died long ago.'' With that being said, he would take the time to get some energy back. Sometimes it was good to have some back up. He couldn't oppose her much if he had no power to do it with.

Seeing as how he avoided one of her attacks, she was going to make it harder to avoid period. She turned to his direction and stabbed into the grounds, sending a great tremor throughout the ruins, and splitting the ground in front of her into a fissure that spread to the edges of the temple and definitely under Sharaku’s feet, avoiding the coffin and the machine however. The earth of the fissure would jump up just above his height in case he attempted to fly up and then converge around him attempting to swallow him whole. He would have lost his footing by then and be falling into the darker depths of the earth, as the fissure came almost instantly, like a sudden earthquake had struck the temple. The very act alone cracked the ceiling from the pressure and allowed the red moonlight to seep into the ruins. Were he to be caught, he would be squeezed under pressure, and then brought to the surface once more, the ground now a mess of sand and crushed rock. Since Sharaku did not strike and used the time to recover, he was for the moment in a good position, however he was essentially defenseless and chose nothing to strike back, so he was now at the mercy of this attack should he not find a way out.

Sharaku would frown a little as she made the move to stir up the ground again. These attacks did not hurt as much as the others, yet, it was a pain to deal with. And the fact that she was destroying the whole place with them helped the case little. If he was in a better mood, he would have perhaps found it funny how she always made sure to not give him a chance to fly over her attack, even though he had only done that trick once so far. That was the last thing on his mind right now, however. He had decided long ago that high up was a bad idea, so he wouldn't have gone for that either way. That didn't mean up in itself was a bad idea. Just not high enough that he would have to take a while to get back down. Because he sure wasn't staying through what seemed like the beginning of an earthquake, assuming from the way the ground rumbled immediately after she stabbed it. He would take a step or two, jump up and forward, using his wind to swirl around himself, sort of like a shield, doing a dive roll through the attack, letting the force of the winds send him forward further than he would normally, skidding on the ground for a bit before comign to a stop. Of course, the wind would fizzle out after clashing with the earth force. In any case, it would put him fairly close to her now, though he would not make a further move yet, just remain on guard for her next attack.

Since Sharaku merely went straight to her, and did not attempt to change much direction, he was in an even more dangerous position now. As his attack ended, she would have from under her feet a pillar of earth rise at an angle that held her nearly sideways, and shot her towards Sharaku, to which she would leap behind him and begin to strike while the pillar went straight for his face. She would try to get in a horizontal strike towards his back long enough for his attention to be pulled back and see how he would avoid it. The pillar was 10 by ten meters, more than double his height and at the ceiling, and coming at him from a sideways aim, so it would look like a large rectangular mass of earth was coming straight for his face, while Maya behind him would be slashing at his back. Now that her agility debuff was gne, she was back to her quickened self.

She had an interesting strategy, yes. However, getting that close to him wasn't much of a smart move on her part. He had little to no choice except for destroying her attacks when she sent them from a distance, but this gave him more options. Double that with the fact that she went quite simple, with only a pillar of Earth. Sharaku had still been more focused on her, than her blow itself, seeing as he could probably manage to take one in case it was truly necessary. He would follow her movement as she leaped off, turning around swiftly to face her as she went to slash at him, he would take a step forward to get closer, raising his weapon to sharply block her swipe, using the momentum of the clash to attempt tripping her over by kicking at her legs. At the same time, he would use his free hand to grab one of hers, attempting to turn and use the advantage of her possibly losing balance to throw her towards the direction of her own attack right before it would make contact, making her faceplant it. Whether successful or not, he would follow up by sending a large wave of wind that would reach up to the ceiling, and around 8 meters wide in her direction, which would have it's sides curl up swiftly as it moved, like it was pulling into a ball, aiming to trap her from all sides and squeeze her into fast moving wind currents, unless she had a way to poof out quick enough.

On the parry of her weapon, She would hold it there and with her other arm, swipe it down at her leg and attempt to cut at Sharaku's attempt to kick her. They were close enough and it was a free hand, so she had plenty of room to do so. Were he not quick enough, he would be cut along her other blade. Regardless, since Sharaku had done nothing to block the pillar, as it was moving straight into him before she jumped off, it would continue the course and not stop. Maya herself would attempt to slam her head against his and push back, then sending a flat wall of earth that went straight up to the ceiling as tall as the tomb. The pillar would still be running to him, and would definitely be right up against him, pushing him into the wall. If he still somehow got his wind out, he would end up crashing at her earth wall, but he still would have little to no chance of avoiding what was essentially a large column of earth slamming into his back.

Tsk. She seemed to be forgetting that she wasn't the only one with a free hand available. Sharaku wasn't about to play around anymore at this point. He may not have a weapon of the kind she has in his arsenal, but it wasn't really necessary for him to try intercepting her swipe that way. He had been intending to grab at her in the first place, and nothing was really stopping him from doing that. Their weapons had clashed, yes, but he still had his other hand, and he would use it to grab at her own, which she was going to swipe with. Even if it proved not enough to stop her from moving it completely, she wouldn't be able to execute a proper strike that way. Whether his attempted kick accomplished anything or not, he would draw back rather quick, to be able to stand firmly again, at the same time using force to push the hand she had been holding against his own weapon away to the side roughly, using the momentum to send her favorite butterflies to her face again. If there was something he was not bad at, it was keeping balance, otherwise things like flips wouldn't be as easy for him to do, therefore he didn't find it as hard to do other movements even while only having one leg to stand on momentarily due to the kick. He wouldn't fall over that easy.

In any case, he would still keep his other hand gripped on hers, as to keep her from getting away. As long as he had a say, she wasn't going anywhere. He couldn't say how strong she was, but unless she worked out a lot, she shouldn't be able to overpower his hold easy. And in case she did attempt something before, he could just grab at her again when she was distracted with the winged insects fluttering in her vision. If she still attempted to headbutt him...well, did it really matter? As long as he had some hold on her, she couldn't simply push away, which meant no earth from her. Besides, a headbutt went both ways. Doing that would mean she'd feel the force herself, as smashing skulls together can't be pleasant for either party, unless she has a head made of rock, which he seriously doubted.

That said, he wouldn't bother wasting time, seeing as the pillar was still a bother. This time, instead of going for throwing her, he would follow up his butterfly distraction by pulling with on her hard, to swoop them around in a half circle motion, to make her back to the earth instead of him, at the same time letting go of her and sending a sharp push kick towards her to force her backwards, follwing with a large wave of wind up to the ceiling, and around 8 meters wide. He'd do his best to keep his movements in a fluid flow, to make it harder for her to relaliate when also having to deal with stuff in her face. In case it worked out, she'd end up getting squeezed between her own pillar from the back, and a wave of wind from the front, which would be hard to avoid by now, seeing as the earth would be rather close by that point in time. If she managed to get out of being inbetween, the wind and earth would just end up crashing into each other, and dispersing.

Definitely a smarter move on his part. Though for Maya she was perhaps lucky. She let him throw her into the pillar, though she would feel no pain, and merely fell through and cracked through it as it continued its course to Sharaku, only to be warded off by the wind itself. In response, she would begin to ride among the earth once again, this time as an earthslide, as the ground beneath her turned into mud and muck, she would head straight for him at a speed easily comparable to her wall-running skill from before, unleashing many small projectiles the size of bullets across his person from the earthslide, and in a circular radius of 7 meters. She would move to follow him wherever he went. After the attack, she would launch herself off of the slide and towards his body, with one vertical and horizontal strike with her weapons across his chest.

Sharaku would scowl faintly. Seriously. First, she completely ignored his ice, now the earth. How did she even do all that? Her attacks weren't as devastatingly powerful when they hit the mark...but this no effect ability was rather..troubling. She wasn't hurt by that, and this..and who knew what else. It was somewhat annoying. If she didn't have that skill, he would have already done his best to freeze her to something. Well then. As much as he didn't like risking this much, what he had done so far was not working. As long as he spent time warding off her attacks, she always found a way to dodge his, because he couldn't retaliate quickly enough to catch her off guard as much as he needed to. Therefore...

This was going to hurt, but he wouldn't attempt to get rid of her attack this time. It wasn't as if he could go on for much longer with spell casting anyway, so risking was somewhat more viable at the moment. He would stay as he was, just watching her movements intently, wincing as she hit him with the earth projectiles. At this point, it did hurt quite a bit, but he could still take it. Thankfully for him, she did take the route of getting back close to him. Which was just about good enough. Coupling her lowered general agility along with the fact that it would be quite hard to change direction suddenly after launching herself off the earth at him in a straight line would have to do for this. He was watching her the whole time, not bothering to fight the Earth, so he could focus on retaliating more easily than in any other case, despite being in a not really great condition after the assault.

As she jumped off to attempt swooping to him and slicing him apart, he would send a large wave of wind at her, with the same range the previous ones had. Being in the middle of practically launching herself at him, on top of her little agility problem would make it almost impossible to get away from that. It was doubtful she could change direction in that position, and doubly so do it quickly enough to get out of the way at the close range they would be at right there and then.

When I was six, I remember coming home to my dead parents...their bodies strewn about, and one person in the back. They had a knife, and the stink of what I would now know as a Shadow. To this day, I still don't know if he did it or not, but out from another room were men in black, that captured the both of us and took us away to my new home...in Ueitawa.

Many years of experiments went by, and I rose through everyone's expectations. Before we even knew about Personas and what they could do, they always looked to my efforts after they made me into what I was now...well, mine and that other woman...

I looked up to her in a way. She was just as smart as she was powerful...but I could have never been her. I don't get the same sense of life in battle that she does. All it did was torment me on the inside, leaving a scar on my heart for every cut I made on someone else. But I still went on. Every bloodstain, every fight fought; all was to move up, and get stronger. I almost tried to compete with her, trying to surpass her. I only had one goal. My entire life I could hardly remembered before working where I did, but I never forgot my one mission...

And yet....I was sent on his mop-up mission on the false promise of "Freedom", and that woman got to stand next to him. What did she have that I did not? I could destroy her now. She doesn't understand what it means to truly be a killer. Her honor....it was sick. She did not know what it meant to let go and fight, no matter how painful it was. That man sent me away, and even then he could watch me. They always watched me; and no matter what I did, I could not escape. What was the expression? Keep your friends close and enemies closer....

But why? Why do I even care about what he thinks? Why am I trying to fulfill a fruitless mission, that only is going to end with them betraying me, or me dying along the way? Maybe it was the experiments' fault after all. They were keeping me from my freedom....or so I believed. I tried so hard, and brought as many as I could back, but it was never enough. I was sent out for more....and now this one man. I remember him. Quiet man from Portugal his files said. Nothing remarkable. I remember watching his experiments...this man was resilient...no wonder he has survived this long...and yet, he had no goals. He did not want to return to enact revenge; he just wanted to run away...and he still had his life given to him...but my life was stolen from me, and now, it is going to be stolen again...

After she was slammed by a current of wind, she fell backwards and tumbled over herself, dropping one of her blades to the ground. Her metallic form faded away leaving her on the floor with no enhancements. She coughed heavily, looking at the man who defeated her. She had no energy left; she couldn't keep going anymore after that. She weakly lifted her blade above her to look at it. This Shadow was partnered up with another in her other weapon, and they never went anywhere separately. But all this time, she hardly knew a thing about them. She could always hear them whisper to each other, but they never spoke to her. They always talked behind her back, and to this day have not said a single solitary word to her. She reached to the other blade and grabbed it, holding on like it was her mother, and she was six once more.

"You never told me your names.....I thought I treated you well...why do you never speak to me...? I told you my name...I never lied to you..." she said, coughing more. Her held up hand dropped the blade next to her, and perhaps as if checking to make sure, she reached to her other wrist to open her cuffing to reveal a barcode and a set of numbers, and below it a sort of brand across her forearm. Ownership....that's what it meant to that corporation. They owned her, and perhaps they always would. Both markings were hot to the touch. She didn't want to believe it, but the harsh truth hit her like bricks, as tears fell from her eyes. She was a coward at heart. She didn't have what it took to finish her mission, or obtain what she wanted. Why was it that all of these experiments got their freedom, but she was stripped of hers? They had everything when they escaped, and they even were able to fight back. She deserved it just as much as anyone else. She knew not the fate of them back where they were, and hadn't been keeping in touch, but any leftover men they had to spare, always found a way to meet with her. Some were simply too loyal. But now that was going to lead to her death. Was she too loyal herself?

"Why Sharaku Rikei...? How is it that you feel nothing about this?....Don't answer actually....I lost...so this is what I receive....what are you gonna do now...? You still struggle with everything you still had back in Japan. You still can't feel...how do you still feel for them? What has your life been to you up until now? Her breaths grew labored, and her eyesight started to blur. "What does it matter to you Sharaku? Why do you try to live so much? Life is nothing but servitude to someone. You look at the world, standing on someone's palm and at any moment they can pull their hand away, or crush you. Is that a life you really care about? Is running away truly what you want? It worked..? To be honest, Sharaku had almost expected her to somehow pull another trick and get out of there. On the other hand, this was much better. He didn't think he could have gone on with this for much longer. She has been a tiring opponent, that was a fact. For a moment, he would stay still, watching her trying to talk to her blades..which he assumed was her Shadow, before walking over to stand beside her. When she directed her questions at him, he would close his eyes momentarily, thinking, before looking back at her with a slightly sad expression.

''Perhaps it is exactly because of what we have gone through up to now. Giving up your life doesn't take that much effort, yet, how much better would death be than this? As long as you're alive, you can still try to make it better for yourself, even if it may be a hard task. When you give up, then it's just over. I may struggle to a certain excent, but I don't have to believe I can't change. Don't they always say that humans are strong? I may have ran before, but as it is now, I'll fight as long as I am capable of it. It does seem that it's a futile task at times..but there are always options. I have beaten you..but you are strong yourself. If we went on for longer, you probably would have won. If you want freedom..why fight alone, only for yourself? Wouldn't you be able to be stronger if you had allies? Getting close to people may be a hassle at times, but it can help as well. One person alone can't change everything, even if they're super strong. Life has many faces.
