Weather had become very odd lately...more snow than usual, suddenly hot days during winter, rain, and sometimes with no real breeze. It was definitely confusing to any weather reporter, but it was no doubt a time for the news report to maybe give people something to focus on. Robert Sansch appeared on all news screens of the tower and anyone who was looking on the news via radio or online. He wore the normal great smile as always, and held several papers in his hand as he began to speak.

"Welcome, to the Azores Local News. Firstly, I'd like to-" the screen suddenly went static before he finished his sentence, which was definitely odd considering the screens around the tower were surely impossible to mess with the signal, at least, not normally. After a little bit, in the same seat where Robert was, with the news feed glitched out of clarity on the side, a familiar rumored reporter stood, with a few pieces of paper that she pat the table with to organize. Both on the screens, any channel of the radio, and any local news on the web was suddenly hijacked, and they would all be able to see the broadcast of this odd Reporter. Even machines that were broken such as older TVs suddenly displayed the image of a young woman looking out at the screen. All around the islands, her face was on a screen. The room behind her seemed to flicker, showing random flashes of static and the generic multicolor page that would show when a signal was lost.

No doubt people were shocked at first, and everything almost became a standstill in both San Malarus Island and the others that could be watching or listening to this. Some thought it was a joke, but the eerie screen of color behind the innocent-looking woman caught many eyes and kept their attention. While she was moving around, she was not saying anything just yet. Was she waiting for people to show up after making an appearance? Well, whatever the case, she was just standing there as people were talking anxiously, trying to figure out what in the world was the meaning of all this. How did some weird girl like her get on the news?

This is it... what Jack has been waiting MONTHS for! He had spent the better part of the morning and afternoon preparing for this... He had popped a bowl of popcorn, his own special recipe to, the trick was to add food coloring to each individual kernel so it popped in different colors! He popped open a bag of "Sentai Salt Snacks" Imported from Japan... His last bag to... Kinda wistful... He made sure he had people copying notes for him, seeing as how he'd be out of class today watching the full marathon that preceded the event. He made sure to sound proof his room to prevent any outside noise from distracting him. He installed special blackout curtains to insure the room was perfectly dark for the added cinematic experience.

Yes today was a very important day... For today a marathon of every episode of Featherman: UltraSuper Force was playing, leading up to the final episode! And what an episode it would be! Jason David Frank was reprising his roll as Tommy Oliver from the original Featherman! How Cool is that! Nothing could ruin today... nothing...

So Jack sat alone in his room watching the marathon... Only taking breaks to go ehem... take care of business... Each episode built the tension within him... he knew that soon the final episode would broadcast... 5 episodes left... 4... 3... 2.... One more until the finally! Oh! Here it comes!

what?....

Was this a special lead in?.... No NO! Jack had seen the episode leaked online a week ago! (In the back of his mind he knew this defeated the purpose of the premier but that really didn't bother him) This was NOT part of the episode,"What?... What is going on!?" Jack stood and stared at the screen.... This was not normal... Could... Could this have something to do with all the stuff Nilo and Charles told him about?...

Jack would stare blankly at the screen and wonder what in the world was happening...

Nilo walked down the roads so familiar to him as he hummed her tune. He had grown accustomed to her presence within his mind in the coming days. He had come out to find a parts shop to see if anyone knew something about Puppet, the animatronic puppet he had grown accustomed to be with. It was safely placed within the satchel at his side, his boo along side it. He continued walking until he got to the Radio Tower, looking up at the giant screens with a tilted head.

His mother had fussed over the weather this morning during breakfast. Being the albino he was, he was forced to wear a long sleeved shirt and pants regardless of the weather, and so he never bothered to keep track of it. But what his mother told him made his mind drift towards the other worlds... The one he was at was a dessert... Could the weather be crossing over to their world? He pondered this shortly before the screens suddenly changed from the man to a lady in a flash of static.

Nilo hesitated for a moment, stopping dead in his tracks. Something was wrong, he knew it. She was stunned into silence, both user and persona shocked at the occurrence. Nilo quickly analyzed the woman, not finding her in any way familiar... But... A feeling came over him, and regardless, he began moving through the crowd a little quicker. With a few polite excuses he began his way towards the tower, a determined look on his face.

He wasn't sure if he'd get inside the building, but he knew something was very very wrong. The radio tower seemed like the most logical place to investigate first. His mind raced with thoughts as his heart seemed to pound in his chest. He was nervous, scared even... But he had to do something, he had to try.

...of course... it had to happen now. Well, whatever, it's fine... the only thing that mattered right now was this... the fire in her eyes was probably burning just as bright as her sword would... an Embryonic Flame that burned everything in its sight! A grin, cocky as cocky could be, appeared on her face...

The First Broadcast KTwKIt4
"It's showtime!"

As quickly as she thought that, Rita erupted into a full-on sprint across the area, evading anyone that might have been in her way and bumping into many others, though she'd throw a "sorry!" out every single time she did. Uncaring for faces, familiar or not, Rita dashed to the tower's entrance, stopping to catch her breath only after the entrance was in sight. Rita had to meet her, she had to know, she absolutely had to question her, no matter what it took! She was embarrassed that time at the Gym, but her sixth sense told her something was off... the girl... she definitely knew something!

Suffice to say, Rita was watching it all from pretty near it, though not quite as near as she'd want... still, that fact made it so she'd be able to get to the tower faster, and that was all that mattered! She didn't care about anything, not the weather, not the eeriness of it all, no, she had her eyes fixated on the girl... the one who was there, the one who saw the Personas... the one who was surely a User or something similar too! She had to be... nothing else would be possible, right? She had to know...!

"I swear to God... I'll catch you!"

Her thoughts only went into finding that girl, making her talk, whatever it took... she had to, she needed to... her speed and stamina weren't enough to reach the entrance in one go, but that didn't mean that Rita was gonna stop halfway there... no, still ignoring any and every call, Rita continued on as fast she could to the tower, carrying with herself a definite purpose, even if a reckless one... what was she gonna do once she got to the tower? Well... that would be seen when she did...

PostSubject: Re: The First Broadcast    The First Broadcast EmptySun Jan 18, 2015 8:23 pm

...This was not the best way to stir up a normal day. Sharaku hadn't been neccesarily extremely near any electronic device, nor the tower itself, but rumours travel fast. It was hard to not overhear people chatting about some blonde reporter girl suddenly appearing on news and all, mainly when you were on the island that had the main broadcasting system. That was no good. How do people even do that anyway...? It sort of reminded him of the time the few of them met Shadows for the first time. Stuff went wrong with the broadcast back then as well. The notion did not sound good at all. Add the girl Hyde was ranting about to the mix, and it got even worse.

As much as he did not enjoy the idea of a scruffle, it was a fact that the woman was probably important in some way. That much he knew. And he wasn't that far away from the broadast place....Well. He would sigh, a bit annoyed by the whole prospect, but turn to head there at a fairly fast pace. The only reason he actually went, was because he was fairly interested in the matter...and the fact that everything was going to hell anyway. It was probably more useful to take some action than not, even if it may be a risk. He was not too afraid, however.

Speedwalking to the tower took some time, even with long strides, but it didn't seem anything was changing so far. It'd probably take him a short while longer to get there, but it isn't like he could just up and fly. He was probably at about similar distance as Rita, though he did not take notice of her. There were plenty of crowds everywhere. Tsk. Why did this have to happen in the first place?

The First Broadcast The_br15

When the few showed up around the tower, the Reporter seemed to nod conveniently after everyone arrived. Could she see them?  "So another year has come and gone.....I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves! This is your friendly neighborhood reporter chiming in!" she shouted on the "air". Anyone out in the public was definitely either intrigued, confused, or worried about this sudden random appearance from the young girl. "I had noticed that after a certain....game we'll call it started, some of you out among the islands have been trying to figure out what has been happening or at least awoken to your inner abilities. For those who do not know, don't worry, I just had to say it. It's amazing, and I am very impressed by....one second." She then pulled a slip of paper from her shirt and cleared her throat before reading a set of names...

Naomi Epona...
Alphonse a.k.a Project Sentinel...
Sharaku Rikei...
Shunnosuke Kurosawa...
Hyde Mizumi...
Rita Arisato...
Oki Akumura...
Add...
Nilo Lockwood...
Kazuya Fujiwara...
Sheva Lionhart...
Mayu Takayamina...
Julian Remming...
Hachiro Mochizuki...
Daniel Impel...
Ariston Rhodes...
Zachary Dunbar...
Simon Alba...
Rinna Lauderdale...

Each and every name had particular things in common, and she had said them all on TV, where everyone could hear...

"I know you must all be confused, so I shall explain. You see, these people have awoken to supernatural powers, very complicated stuff. They can travel through portals to other worlds that are anchored to your world." Obviously her words sounded silly and many were confused; some started to laugh. "Of course to many of you this sounds silly. But I will show you." As she spoke, she pointed at the screen, and a small crowd that had gathered to watch the odd broadcast suddenly doubled over and fell forward in anguish, in the same way one awakening to a Persona might do...when they seemed to regain themselves, the small group of people she pointed at near the tower would see glimpses of Personas they had. Whether or not she was only pointing at the people here, and perhaps other places on the islands was unclear. Some were confused and stood still, some shouted and ran away in horror, and others were shouting at the Reporter on the screen. With a flick of her wrist, the rifts that normally those awakened could see, now suddenly appeared in the view of the public. They were still closed off to them, but they could see strange tears in their world that led into their respective alternate world. It seemed that whatever she had done, she had turned the rifts "frequency" as it were so low that even normal humans could see the anomalies. Those who weren't really believing the story were speaking and shouting in anxiousness and almost panic, and the sign that they could see them now was getting more and more clear to those here who were familiar with it, for people were talking about strange openings and it raining there, in the midst of all of their confusion. "You all were part of something you all had no idea was happening under you. You see, my friends are hiding out in those other worlds, and all you have to do is find them. You'll be told more as you go. Easy right? Well, you guys have a couple friends roaming around in this world trying to cause trouble. One of them is hiding out in this world, and it would help alot if you guys could help the people I mentioned in figuring it out. They would love it. I shall assist you as we-." Many started to shout at her even though she was just on a screen, not seeming to realize what she was speaking from and what she almost said. She frowned, looking genuinely disappointed.

Nilo froze as the reporter spoke, but only long enough to go into an all out sprint towards the tower. She knew things, scary things... Who was she and what was she doing? Nilo only ran faster as the names where listed, his name ringing through his head as the reporter said it. He could hardly believe it... The only people who knew about this where... She said two of them, Katzuya and Mayu... The other two, Charles and Jack, where left out... That meant only those awaken to persona where listed... At least to his knowledge.

As he sprinted he almost shrieked as the large crowd a few paces away from him doubled over in pain. This only drove him faster as he tried and reached the tower, not even bothering saying sorry to the people he pushed through. He couldn't believe what was happening, she pointed... And that feeling... She was nervous, her humming a strained tune as she tried to keep calm.

Nilo didn't know if he could reach the tower before the reporter where to do something again, but he would try all the same, pushing past the last group of people to finally get to the tower's base. If there where people blocking the door, he would look for another way around, but if not, he'd try and enter the tower as quickly as he could.

"...You bitch."

With everything going on, Rita could barely believe what the reporter said, but that didn't matter. She had a goal, an objective, nothing could really stop her now. If anyone even tried bumping into her, she'd push them away onto the ground, dashing right into the door. If there was someone there, at the door, she'd give them a swift and unexpected punch to the gut, uncaring to whatever might happen next. It didn't matter right now, her endurance could hold on forever and longer, even, she just had to get to the reporter now...

"Out of my sight!" Her eyes now a full-blown concentration of fire, she'd scowl at anyone who dared stand in her way, then quickly pick up whatever long slim object was near, be it a branch, a pipe, or anything similar. If she couldn't find anything, she'd be content with her fists.

Throughout everything that happened, Rita wouldn't be able to move that fast, all things considered, having to take into consideration the size and structure of the building. In estimation, Rita would travel to about the main hall, a few meters off the exit, and not even notice anyone that tried to get in with her, unfocused on anything but where to go, her teeth grinding with determination, while a smirk was set on her lips. This was going to be interesting...

"Where are you...?! I'm gonna find you...!" Already getting into some sort of combat position, she kept her senses extremely alert, estimating that she'd be able to hear something coming her way in a swift movement... though, sneaking wasn't going to alert her, seeing as she wasn't really a superhuman girl. Her five senses were pretty good, though, and while her sight wasn't really focusing on much right now, her hearing was pretty good... regardless, she'd keep an ear out for anyone near her, and would be in a defensive position just in case... this was personal now.

  The First Broadcast ?c=isi&im=%2F8780%2F85618780%2Fpics%2F3119371783_1_7_n5767Z0V

...This woman, girl, or whatever...what was her deal? That aside, how did she even know all this? The supernatural knowledge could be explained, but where the hell did she get all of those names? Sharaku could recognize quite a few, aside from his own, that is. And he was not pleased. Was she trying to be flashy, stupid, or actually trying to mess with them, contrary to what she was saying? Help them. Being mentioned on TV was supposed to be helpful? People would just have it easier to recognize them, and if there were bad guys around...Well, that didn't add up nicely on their side.

He was definitely irritated by this show of hers, and while he had walked to the tower briskly, he wasn't yet considering going in. It could just be a trap. Please, who knew how this worked. With the use of supernatural, perhaps it was possible to just hijack the broadcasting system from a safe distance. There was no guarantee she was around this tower whatsoever. He'd bet it was more likely to be some sort of set up for whoever would come looking for her. He was no strategist, but he has learned from previous experience. Rushing without a thought was the worst case scenario in the end. Sure, he had every mind to shake things out of her...but, was this a safe option?

Originally, he was leaning more towards staying around, and figuring out what was she doing with the random people and the rifts around her, but then he noticed a familiar flash of silvery white causing ruckus and pushing people away close to the entrance. And he really wanted to facepalm. Someone was being straightforward for sure. This was far from his plan, but it would do no good if she went there, and got herself in trouble on her own. He didn't even know how strong Rita was yet. Gritting his teeth in annoyance, he would follow after her, ducking the people in the way. If this ended badly, he was going to be pissed. However, there wasn't much of a choice. Either stay here and let her tinker around with whatever could be in the tower, or go. It was risky, but he'd take the second option for now.

Seeing as she was knocking everyone in the way off, he didn't really have to bother much..which allowed him to catch up to her decently enough with quick strides. It seemed neither of them knew where to go, but she was obviously more fired up. More than neccesary, in his opinion. ''How are you even sure she's really here...?'', he'd call out to her as he followed about, not really in a fighting mood himself, though he would keep alert in case something were to come. He was certain he could react fairly well if anything happened.

This... what?... No... Jack stood stunned for a moment.... Absolutely stunned... This was beyond what he thought possible. He knew things were more complicated then he could have possibly imagined, Charles and Nilo were proof of that enough. What ever this lady was talking about was... Wait... Game? What game and... Wait what? She began to list names.... so many names... some that Jack recognized... Sharaku?.... Figures he's involved...Oki?... What did she have to do with this?... N-Nilo? Oh no....  NO! Not...

Jack stood for only a moment longer. Then in a moment he began to move. With one hand he opened his closet and grabbed his featherman suit, with the other he pulled his phone from his bag and began to write a text to Nilo and Charles.

"Calling all Rangers! No doubt by now you have seen the hijacked broadcast! Ranger Gold! I want you to hold up for now, you are in no shape to engage. Ranger Black... it said your name... I don't know what your involvement in this is but I'm going to the radio tower! No doubt you're heading there to! You're a ranger... I know these things... Just...Wait for me there! We stick together, always. I'm on my way!.

With his text sent Jack pulled his helmet on and took one last look at the television... Without a word Jack sprinted from his room and sprinted down the halls. He got some rather odd looks as he tore through the halls of the dorms. He paid mind to none of them as he burst through the doors to the dorm and onto his bike- er... Hyper Time Bike Mk4 turb.... no... His bike. Now was not a time for jokes. He took one breath and began to peddle. Luckily the dorms weren't to far from the subway.

Before he could fully collect his thoughts he was on the train towards San Malarus... Jack didn't understand what was goin on here... but he would be Damned! If he didn't help... He was a Featherman Ranger for crying out loud... This was what he lived for...

As the train pulled into the station... Jack once again ignored the looks of confusion he received from the passers by... only one thing mattered now... Getting to that tower....

No one was blocking the door to the tower, and it seemed to open like any normal door would, but what was on the other side was rather unsettling; or rather, what “wasn’t” there was unsettling. They could not see anything but white in front of them, and the minute they stepped into the tower, the trio would find no ground to stand on, and they dropped into the white abyss as the doors closed behind them…

The First Broadcast Tumblr_inline_necmorLk011rvg9kl

They fell…

And they fell…

And they fell…

...

The First Broadcast The_sa10

….And so, there was silence. They would be able to wake up, on the ground, and would find themselves in a change of scenery; the key features that were around besides nothing but black where they weren’t, were large and strange colored crystals that looked akin to hourglasses, more than double their size, and odd gears floating above them. This was obviously too large to be in the tower, so did the tower go through some weird change? What did this mean for those who were inside at the time? Another thing they would be able to see is the same reporter, standing in the middle of this odd massive platform, remaining silent, and looking at a floating screen in front of her, showing similar colors to what was on the broadcast moments ago. She then turned around to see the three people that fell in, and smiled. “So you made it. Obvious bait I am aware, but I suspect you wanted answers right? To be quite honest, I expected you to wait until the end, so I could come out and speak to you myself. This tower is not complete just yet. It's more of a waiting room,” she voiced. She didn’t give off any killing intent, but she definitely acted different, like there was suddenly much more weight behind every single word she said...

- -

Outside the tower, the woman seemed to remain on screen, albeit the signal distorted and showing flashes of her, like she wasn't completely there. People were still looking around and wondering what the issue was. Some were trying to touch the tears in the world to little effect, and a couple with awakened Personas that DID touch the rifts wound up entering the other worlds. Most of them made it back, as to the one or two that stayed on the other side....nothing was sure. His text message would not reach Nilo since he was, well, out of service so to speak in that odd area. However, when Jack would reach the tower, nothing else seemed to be changing, save for the weather, that was going through odd shifts of being hot, to cold even under the clouds that were almost threatening a light rain.

Katsuro however when opening the door from his interviewing room, found a long white hallway ahead of him, leading to a strange door at the end. If he were to turn around, he would see a white room similar to that of the hall, however Robert Sansch would be gone. Should he start to walk down the hallway, he would be able to sense a presence here...it wasn't malicious, but he could sense that whatever was in this hallway, was watching him.

His mother always told him to knock before entering weird places. But here he was, in some weird looking place that resembled one of those mental institutions. Katsu! may have been alittle wacky in the head, but was he that crazy that he'd be sent here? Well, who knew? Regardless, he had no choice but to continue forward into this white hall. The man providing the interview was gone, and his Manager seemed to vanish in a puff of smoke. Perhaps the man could not withstand this strange place? Or perhaps Nyarlathotep-sama removed him for some reasons? Whatever the case, Katsu! folded his arms behind his back and continue down the creepy looking hallway. It was funny how the color white, which was marked to be pure, was actually creepy when it had no other colors to compliment it. The same could go for the absence of color, black, aswell.

Even though his mind was thinking about the most random things, his senses were not dulled from the last time he was in this situation. He could feel something or someone watching him, but he didn't exactly understand what do do at this moment. Continue within the strange world, or just hang back and wait for something to happen? Most likely this other door led somewhere special, or maybe not. It's not like he had a choice but to enter it. Even though Nyarlathotep-sama probably couldn't reach him here, he still had the power of Wu Kong on his side. The Monkey King was still a part of his tarnished soul, even after all this time. There had been few times where Katsu! ever needed its assistance, so over time the Monkey's prowess had died down. Katsu! had felt his whole experience with the power was returned to how it was when he first used his abilities. With that in mind, he needed to know when to run and when to fight.

His only choice was to walk to the door at the end of the hallway and hopefully make his escape from this situation. That, or walk right into the lion's den. Boy, how exciting... Well, since he was alone he didn't have to put up that fake front anymore. His usually bubbly exterior and smile was replaced by a slouch and an annoyed frown. What's the point of keeping up an image if others are not going to be around to see it?

Nilo entered the tower shortly after Rita and Sharaku, the opening to enter the building becoming all to apparent with Rita's actions. He didn't directly make himself noticeable as he did so, but it didn't matter as he fell into the abyss. He yelled at first, fear devouring his every whim before everything went black. Her humming was the first thing he heard before waking up.

He stood up slowly, his hand wrapping around the ornate musket within his satchel, ready to take it out in an instant. He took in his surroundings, bewildered at the incredible sight. He stayed silent, glancing towards the other two before placing his attention on the reporter. She used the word bait... Did that mean this was a trap? He didn't know but he kept his hand loosely gripped on the gun as to not cause his arthritis to come into play now.

He didn't know what to directly ask her... But a question came to the fore front of his mind and before he knew it, he asked it. "May I ask why all of this is bate?" he asked with his intelligent and polite voice, tilting his head to the side. He was caution though, prepared for anything this girl would do. His hand stayed on his gun, her humming keeping his head calm and alert. He'd be ready to summon his persona in an instance if the situation allowed, he wouldn't stand idly by if push came to shove.

It was an oddity, really, hearing the footsteps rush so clearly to where she herself was going, it was almost comical... the trap became apparent as Rita stepped in, her recklessness having gotten the better of her, she didn't even notice the room until it was too late...

so she fell.

And it all was lost there.
The First Broadcast CA0zfEV

As the change in scenery dug into her, Rita's eyes would shoot open, an eerie feeling in the back of her brain, digging at her, gnawing her senses, an alert... what was this? As the actual visage of the room washed over her eyes, Rita could seldom trust them, finding that such an elaborate construct would be impossible to arrange without at least some media coverage... what did this mean, exactly? She obviously didn't know, but that wasn't the time to think about it. As soon as Rita noticed the reporter girl standing there, she quickly sat up, her eyes sicked on her though the silvernette would keep her distance, it was too early to start a fight and she wasn't gonna be the one to do it... besides, it was the wisest choice to wait and see what happened, regardless if this was a trap or not.

"Bait...?" Still on her knees, Rita questioned to herself the words that the girl used, only noticing that there was someone else behind her as well... it seemed to her that she wasn't the only one that was goaded into this, so was Sharaku and... that kid, the one from the Meteor Shower... why was he here, though?

After Nilo posed his question, Rita'd stand up fully, dusting herself off before looking over at the reporter again, a glare shot with a fiery anger that could only be described as hateful, though the reporter did say that she wanted to "aid" them or something like that before, so it was the most sensible thing to wait and see just what this girl wanted...

"I personally have a different question... why go through all this trouble, even?"

Sticking her hands into her pockets, Rita seemed to be as nonchalant as ever, though that was obviously a facade, seeing as she was actually quite tense, more so than when she went into another world... regardless, after her question, Rita'd take a small amount of time to examine the room she was in piece by piece, though she'd keep glancing back at the reporter to make sure that nothing was off... though, that was a useless thought, if this wasn't already off, what would be?

Rita'd pay no mind to her apparent fellow "prisoners" as she'd see them all, including herself, as, though she suspected that they were far from such... honestly, she was scared, very much so, but that didn't matter, she came for answers, and she'd get them no matter what... though some other few points intrigued her, what did the girl mean by "end"? The end of the broadcast? She was planning to meet them after it? How intriguing, Rita would definitely ask those questions posthaste if neither of the other two did, that was quite sure... though, for know, she'd just keep observing, taking mental notes, investigating... you could say that this was more of her field...

Of course. Sharaku had known that the possibility of this being some sort of trap was high. He wasn't even very surprised. If it hadn't been for Rita rushing there, almost leaving a fiery trail behind her, he wouldn't even have gone himself. Not right off the bat at least. And as much as he had expected something to happen, no floor wasn't exactly it.

''..............''

Ah, well. Time for some freefalling, apparently. He wasn't happy, but there was nothing to do about it by now. Such joy.

When they finally reached the bottom, he found himself laying down on the ground, and would proceed to stare upwards as the girl spoke. He recognized her voice well enough to tell, and she wasn't being hostile as of yet. The whole talk about this being a bait and all did not phase him. He had figured already. Though, he would perk up a little when he heard a voice he did not expect here. With a sigh, he would sit up, glancing at Nilo briefly. When did he come around..? This becoming a group venture was not exactly what he'd prefer. Who knew what was this about.

Eventually, he would stand up himself, giving the strange place a short glance over, before looking towards the reporter girl. Though Rita's question was somewhat on point, and he would like to hear an answer to that, he would bet it'd be quite irrational. At least, from what he already knew about this girl. This was going to be a drag, that he could already tell.

The First Broadcast Hmn

''If you really want people to wait, being all flashy is not going to aid that, miss. What exactly is the 'end' we were supposed to wait for anyway?''

His tone was somewhat dry as he asked that. This was an annoyance already, but there wasn't much choice. Only an idiot would start a scruffle in an unfamiliar place like this. They'd have to hope the girl would say something useful when she opened her mouth.
