The House By the Park (Nilo/Hyacintha and Snow)

Both Nilo and Ms. Raina laughed at Hyacintha's remark, Ms Raina spoke up after her laughing, smiling lightly towards Hyacintha "Oh, no charge at all. But if you're serious, you can most definatley come a few times in a week and I can teach you then." she said with her polite smile and voice. Nilo stayed quiet but smiled lightly in agreement.

"Um... We'd be happy to have you over more..." Nilo said after a while, returning to eating after he said that. He was happy his mom was so open and kind to the two. He thought she's be startled or a little stressed that she had to feed two more mouths but she seemed elated. He couldn't help but feel happy himself as he heard the rain's last few drops.

He wondered if the others would leave as soon as their meal ended. Of course, he wouldn't be hurt by this, after all, they would have to go home some time. He inwardly laughed at his strangeness, wondering if this is what it felt to have friends... Where they friends though? Snow acted odd... Was that a sign of friendship? He couldn't pin point it and so left it to be debated in the near future, simply deciding to enjoy the meal with the others.

To Hyacintha’s request to teach her how to cook, there was laughter from the boy and his mother. Not the cold, mocking type of laughter of the cruel, but rather the warm one of people who actually cared. It filled Hyacintha with great joy and made her wish she could stay here forever. She felt safe. Even if she and Nilo were just stranger…. This place, this moment. It was something special. When Ms. Raina answered back, Hyacintha’s eyes practically glowed with joy and excitement.

“Really? I can come back to learn for free?” she asked hardly able to believe it was true. Could she really learn about cooking and actually make something that was edible? If that happened, she could finally impress Snow and wouldn’t have to feel guilty for feeding him something…less than pleasant. When Nilo nodded in light agreement and then spoke a few seconds later. Hyacintha could no longer contain herself. Placing her fork down, she’d hopped out of her chair before moving to hug Ms. Raina and then Nilo. She didn’t care anymore that these people were strangers. They had just made her day.

“Thank you! Thank you!” she said excitedly as she resumed sitting and began to eat her food once more to happy for the words.

As this occurred, Snow watched the scene a bit startled at how happy Hyacintha had become over a simple thing. While it was true he was more or less comfortable now that he had resettled, it was also true that some part of him did not understand this situation on the same level as a human did. He understood that Hyacintha was happy. Understood he liked Nilo and his mother enough to give the boy the offer regarding the dreamers. He did want to help the kid, but at the same time, another part of him wished to see the happiness built up and then torn down. He didn’t get the contradiction. Couldn’t comprehend, but at the same time he kept the confusion hidden as he watched the scene with a practiced faint smile. He would appear to be amused, but inwardly he was struggling more than one could know with the various emotions within.

When Hyacintha moved to hug Nilo and his mother, it took a lot of will power to hide the aggression that sprung up from such an action. It was an odd trait of his when it came to Hyacintha. Anything that got too close to her he wanted to strike out at, but by some miracle there was a small part of him that held the beast back and allowed him to watch what was happening without more than a glare here and there. This time around he managed to hide even the glare as he instead looked at the food on his plate for a moment. There was no reason to get mad. She was free to do what she liked. Right…

In any case, when he heard Nilo’s comment about having them over again, dark eyes would shift over to the boy as the faint smile became slightly more genuine.

“That is a very kind offer. I for one would enjoy it and perhaps next time, we can entertain you instead provided Hyacintha agrees,” Snow said extended to the offer to Nilo and his mom if she wanted to come. While it was hard to pin-point the feelings he felt towards the pair, he could not deny the fact that he truly did like the kid and his mother despite whatever personal hang ups he may have.

In any case, Hyacintha nodded enthusiastically at the idea.

“Oh yes indeed! You must come for tea sometime. I am sure we can find loads of things to do also,” she said already excited about potential future plans.

As Hyacintha continued to chat away happily, Snow stayed quiet as he listened to the sounds outside become quieter. The rain was stopping. It would be safe for them to go soon; however, Snow would leave whenever his master was ready to leave.

Hyacintha and Snow: Despite the different ways they show it, they truly enjoy their stay with Nilo and his mother. They don’t seem to mind If this were to go further. Things are looking up.

Ms. Raina laughed as she was hugged, Nilo smiling lightly as he was hugged. They seemed over all happy at the prospect of the night. Ms. Raina smiled and clapped her hand in delight, seeming very elated at the prospect of the night. "Oh of course, Hyacintha and Snow. Any time. And I wish I could make time for tea but I've been very busy and I do believe my schedule is quite, er, full." she said with a light smile. She finished her meal promptly, Nilo following suit.

"... I can come over for tea if you would have me." Nilo said with a light smile and bow of his head. He didn't quite know why this night happened... But he was glad it did. It felt nice after all the chaos that happened earlier. He stood up and picked up his and his mom's plate, going to take Hyacintha and Snow's plate if they where finished. If not, he would bring just the two plates to the sink and begin cleaning. If so, he would instead bring all four plates to the sink and commence cleaning them.

The hug seemed to bring joy into the area as laughter and smiles were shared. While Snow did not understand why such a simple thing made others happy, but himself upset, the young man still found himself smiling lightly at the situation before he was turning his attention back to the food to finish it off. Hyacintha would eventually sit back down to finish her own food as words were spoken and offers were made. Everyone seemed excited about the future as they continued to chat.

When the subject came to tea time, Ms. Raina politely declined as she said her schedule was too full to do such a thing; however, she still left the door open for Hyacintha and Snow to come back anytime. While the news made Hyacintha pout as she let out a “Aww man” of disappointment, joy quickly returned to the girl as she looked over at Nilo.

“You are welcome for tea any time you want to come!” she responded happily to the boy as she gave him a huge grin. She truly meant what she said. She would enjoy Nilo’s company again and while Snow was quiet, Hyacintha was quite certain he would enjoy the guy to. After all, he had suggested the idea first, right?

In any case, after words were spoken, the meal would come to a close as everyone finished what was on their plate. When Nilo moved to pick up the plates, Snow would allow him to pick up Hyacintha’s plate, but when it came to his own plate, the young man had already slid out of his chair with plate in hand. While he didn’t do anything to Nilo per se, there was a slight bit of aggressiveness directed towards him regarding the plate. Snow wasn’t trying to be rude or intimidating, he simply could not handle being waited on anymore. It drove him nuts, so to keep the last bit of his sanity, he wanted to at least help with the cleaning. He hoped tha Nilo would understand this and not take the aggression the wrong way.

Regardless of how that turned out, things would get cleaned and put away as time ticked on until soon it was time for Hyacintha and Snow to leave. As the pair drifted to the door and Hyacintha retrieved her bag, the girl would turn back to face Nilo and his mother assuming both had come and would bow.

“Thanks again for kindness and the dinner. I hope we can meet like this again,” she said with a smile and then looking at Nilo. “See you later then,” she said and then turning away as Snow opened the door, she would step outside. Snow would pause giving Nilo a light bow of thanks before following his master outside. The pair would drift down the damp path and towards the sidewalk.

Once outside of the gate, Hyacitha would give one last wave before walking down the sidewalk talking animatedly with the quiet Snow.

Nilo didn't take offense to Snow wishing to clean his own plate and simply decided to smile his way over as he waited for his turn to clean the dishes. Ms. Raina went about with putting up the food and laughed lightly at Hyacintha's response. "Oh... It's nothing personal, my work simply wouldn't allow me to come at an appropriate time for tea. And being the traditional woman I am, tea time must be at the perfect time." she would say with a light chuckle. She seemed wonderfully happy that Nilo made friends on his first day of school, even if the students didn't directly know if they where friends yet.

"I will come when I can then. Thank you." Nilo said with a light smile to Hyacintha as the cleaning commenced. Both of the Lockwoods smiled and thanked the two for coming over for dinner, Scruffles going to affectionately rub up against Snow's leg at the pair's departure. Nilo stood at the door, waving good bye to the two. Returning to his house's interior and closing the door once they had turned their backs and walked out of sight. He thought to himself for a moment... He couldn't help but think about the offer they gave him... It was confusing, yes... But did they mean something bad about it? He decided that they didn't and so secretly allowed himself to contemplate the offer.
