| — Of course not. You're a machine! — Shunnosuke would promptly reply with some hints of embarrassment in his sort of loud and impetuous answer. Giving it a second thought and glancing at Alphonse with more attention...he wasn't ugly per se. Whoever designed him succeeded in The scary and spiky haircut could be fixed. The clothes could be switched to something better suitable to common wear. No matter the angle the student chose, he still couldn't see Alphonse as a machine, and it would probably take some time before dissociating his image to that of a regular, biological young man. — ...you know, I must admit you look like you'd be more caring and attentive than most guys. Specially one I know very well. — Of course he was talking about someone both of them knew well enough. However, for now he'd keep that information for himself. — If everything comes down to the worst, I might as well go after you. I'm not the one who opts for consolation prizes but it's good to have a plan B just in case, to make sure I won't die alone in this mediocre world. ... I'm starting to creep myself out with this talk, sounding like those desperate old fat ladies who have failed in all of their dates and chose the company of thousand cats in an end corner house. — Of course he was joking about everything, giggling a bit at that thought. A human and a robot? Sounded like an ecchi anime plot. | |

| The android looked at him, he could sense the embarrassment, it was obvious even to the android. That is when you know it is somewhat obvious. The android was not sure if he was under such detailed analysis, but if he was he would be surprised that such focus was placed on his clothes and hair. Where they not simply used to maintain public decency and to keep warm? Wasn't it simply a custom and survival instinct to wear clothes to shield the body from the elements? When his friend began to say that he was more caring and attentive than most guys, he nods.
"Of course, most of the guys you know have not had to take care of a child since their creation, nor have their entire existence based around an individual. It is only natural that I would pick up on more details and express more concern about others, since that is really all I knew to do for a large part of my existence. Someone had to take care of Maria after her family died." He said, after all how many guys had to take care of a little girl, and even if they did was their priority taking care of that little girl? While Sentinel had heard of teen pregnancy, it did not seem to be common around these parts. Given his history it only made sense that he would be more caring and attentive when it came to other living beings.
Though he was honestly surprised when Shunnosuke seemed to consider him a plan B....that seemed unwise in his own opinion. "If you wish to change the subject we most certainly can, I am not opposed to it. Though I'm sure that whoever you choose to pursue will gladly accept your care and affection." the android said offering a soft smile, though he wasn't sure he could. It would be a bit odd for such affection to be focused on him, normally he did not receive such affection from anyone other than Maria. Recieving it from someone else would be a new experience.

| — That's sweet of you. You're absolutely right. — As an only child, Shunnosuke was one of them. He didn't know, in his social circle, many people who were that volunteering to take care of a younger brother or something. Most of them would enjoy the presence of a babysitter and even the parents would resort to that measure and leave their child cares to a professional hired for that purpose in order to have themselves time for whatever they planned. It was a surprise that his family was an exception in that subject...although it doesn't necessarily mean they were truly concerned about the little heir. As for Alphonse giving continuous moral support, the teenager just stared at him speechless, and even blinking a few times at surprise.
— ...oh dear, you're sooooo wrong. — He even chuckled a bit, deviating from the fact he was struck by little bits of embarrassment at such positivity. Then again, one person came in mind when the android said "whoever you choose" and...well.... — Human relationships doesn't work like that. To like someone is not a guarantee that you'll be liked back, no matter how polite, intelligent, supportive and attentive you try to be. It's either he doesn't want a commitment, or maybe he wants it but can't let it forward or isn't willing to go forth, not past the point where your relationship, whatever relationship, gets serious...in practice, it's all the same. In the end, love is never enough for anything. — It would be no surprise if he sounded kind of bitter about that topic. — But yes, let's change the subject. You're lucky for being a robot.

| The android smiled at first, thinking he was doing such a good job, until Shunnosuke told him that he was soooo wrong. The android blinked, how could he be wrong? From what he had on humans they seemed to seek out companionship and friends as well as family and lovers. Though Shunnosuke had a different perspective of human relationships. Evidently a mutual enjoyment of each other is not enough, love does not work on its own. That seemed wrong...he loved Maria and that was enough for him, wasn't that proof that love alone could build a relationship.
When it was stated that he was lucky enough to be a robot, he cocked his head to the side and looked at his friend. "How am I lucky? I do not understand, luck is an abstract concept, but as a robot it is difficult for me to believe in such abstract concepts. Please tell me why I am lucky."

| Such a weird machine he had in front of his eyes. Though his interest in human affairs seemed only logical for a programmed android with his own conscience, to explain such obvious reasoning would prove to be a tiring task. — You're lucky because, as a machine, you don't have to bother with complicate matters such as a relationship...unless you're really like Andrew, but you seem too dense to even play that role. You're assigned a task and that's what matters. You don't need to fall in love with anyone to find a meaning for your life, and no one will fall in love with you because of, as you said, "your inability to be a good lover". By the way, that's such a nice euphemism for not having a tralala. Anyway, trust me, feelings are enough to ruin your life long time, and avoiding love is the best thing you can do. If I could snap my fingers and go back in time to meet my previous self, I'd advise me: "don't-fall-in-love". Yeah, I should do that. Too bad that man who created you is already deceased, I'd ask him to build a time machine just for me...or maybe something that can erase my memory or turn me into a robot. — He ended his speech with a hopeless sigh. — Wow, this conversation really goes well with a drink... Why didn't you invite me to a pub instead? — Of course, he'd still think about consuming alcohol in such situations. | |

| The android tilted his head toward Shunnosuke as he offered his explaination as to why the android was in fact, "lucky". It seemed to be because he did not have to fall in love and feelings did not affect him in the same way it affected other humans? Interesting, very interesting to the android. Here he was again being warned about how feelings could be bad for him, but at the same time he had seen their strength. He is starting to think he should quite possibly adhere to these warnings, but he wasn't going to stop trying to find the strength that was located into human emotions. So rather than simply charge forward, he was going to jog forward while keeping his head on a swivel.
"So I am lucky because I do not need to feel loved or that I am mostly unfeeling? An odd predicament you place me in since I've seen evidence that feelings can lead to a source of strength on their own, it just takes the right type of motivation." he said trying to help his friend see that not all feelings were horrible, disgusting, and simply faucets of hate. Though the perplexing thing was how his friend wanted to drink, "I thought you weren't old enough to drink?"

| Shunnosuke couldn't help but to snicker, somewhat deridingly at the robot's innocence. He truly believed emotions could be powerful and bonds served as strength. How nice. Too nice for Shun's tastes, actually. That sugarcoated speech served nothing to the teenager, who found in more than one occasions feelings, such as trust and reliability, could be a double-edge sword. — D'awww, you're so innocent! It's like I'm opening the eyes of a child! — He commented, making a face and caressing Alphonse's hair almost as if he was trully talking to a small, hopeful kid...except that Alphonse was no kid, but an apparently grown-up man. Or man-looking android. In light of such naivety, there was this rather sadistic urge growing inside the teenager to corrupt the android's hopes and introduce him to the bad side of trusting someone blindly and that subject could roll all night, if the drink topic wasn't brought up in first place, leaving Shunnosuke with a deadpan expression for a few seconds. Well...he was indeed young enough to not be able to drink. Not that it could prevent anything when you have a fake ID and a nasty attitude when confronted. — I thought you weren't my dad?? Besides, rules are made to be broken, isn't that what they say? | |

| The android cocked his head to the side as Shunny began to caress his hair and call him innocent. "I wouldn't call myself innocent or a child, you are aware that I have above the average human intelligence, correct?" The young man seems to have forgotten this fact, but it was so strange. To be treated like an innocent child, he wasn't even human. Then his friend mentioned how rules are made to be broken, and that he wasn't his dad. Well the latter was true, the former was not.
"I do not believe I am your father, considering how I am unable to reproduce. Not to mention you would not be your current age too. As for the rules, I believe rules were established to ensure that society would not fall apart. Otherwise we would find ourselves in a war of one against all, or so Hobbes stated many many years ago. So I would have to disagree with your statement about rules meant to be broken." He said not really understanding Shunnosuke's point very much. Perhaps it was time to end this conversation, Shunnosuke believed that he was an android.
....or so Sentinel thought, perhaps he should entertain it a bit longer.

| Above average intelligence? Making such questions? Shunnosuke really tried to not laugh at that, but he failed in trying. At least his laughter was somewhat discreet. — So do I. Plus, intelligence alone is not sufficient to define whether you're innocent or not. But you wouldn't know that, after all, you're a machine. There are certain nuances about human traits you seem unable to grasp yet, and it's pretty foreseeable. Don't worry, you'll get it eventually. — His tone was a bit smug, however his point stood still. He knew there was no possibility he'd be wrong in his reasoning. Another indicative would be the fact he didn't understand in first hand Shunnosuke's irony when their "kinship" was mentioned. That was good sarcasm Alphonse, unable to reproduce, was also unable to notice. Then, the robot started a brief dissertation about the importance of rules yada yada. Honestly, that did nothing to change Shun's perspective on society rules. Hints of hedonism, maybe, but the teen had joy in doing whatever he wanted at his own pace and will. He seriously wanted to scoff at Alphonse's words...if it weren't for the fact he was still unsure if he should treat Alphonse as a machine or as a regular human being. — ...erm. Right. Anyway...if you're supposed to take care of Maria on your own, where's she now? Did you leave her alone at home? 'Cause that's not what a proper guardian does. — He was slightly mocking the robot, but his concern was moderately genuine. Living and growing up in a house that was never totally empty, he found it weird for a child to be left alone on her own. | |

| The android noted the smug tone and laughter in his friend's voice. Was there a reason why he was being so smug? Did he think himself superior to the android? Though with the explanation, yes there were still some things he did not quite understand about humanity, but with time he would like his friend said. "I'm sure I will, I tend to learn quickly or so I've been told." Granted, something told him that he was way too kind and nice to be sarcastic like Shunnosuke, while he may eventually learn to be sarcastic, but the question of whether or not he wanted to be was an entirely different story. When his friend responded to his answer about rules...he seemed...less enthusiastic. Evidently, Shunnosuke was more of an anarchist....well his friends political affiliations were his own.
When asked about Maria, he nodded, "I left her with a babysitter, speaking of which, I should probably get going. The baby sitter mentioned a previous engagement she had to attend to, and I would rather not leave Maria alone for long. Thank you for coming out and taking me seriously. Perhaps our next meeting while be more fun, till then! I hope everything goes well for you till we meet again!" With that the android got up and gave his friend a wave goodbye before returning home to see Maria.

| Shunnosuke wouldn't really say he took the android seriously, but...well...at least on the revelation he was indeed an android, he could give him some credit. He, somehow, felt odd in conversing with an android as if they were normal, long-term human friends with each other. Not necessarily bad, since Alphonse had quite a nice, well-educated personality...but bizarre, in a sense. Like, Alphonse is a robot, you know. For the most part, he felt like talking to a character out of an old cartoon like Rose from Jetsons, the babysitter machine. — Looking forward to it! — He replied with a protocolar smile. After he waved back to the man/android, while he observed him vanishing from sight, the student couldn't help to think what else is there in the world for him to know and discover. He wondered for a bit before he checked on his clock. It was about time he should go back home...
