Another one? (Hyde)

Lola sat staring at the fish visible from the Velvet Room. She really did find more entertaining than it should have been to watched them all pass by without a care in the world. It reminded her of when she used to sneak out so she could play around in the human world. She still loved going out there, but there was just less of a thrill now that she could just walk out whenever she wanted. Maybe she was an adrenaline junkie. No. That would actually require her to like situations that where sure to get her into trouble. She, personally, knew she was not a fan of those kinds of things. But there was something alluring about the fish. She just couldn’t put her finger on it. Mostly because every time she tried to touch the darn things, they would swim away from her. She made a mental note to get a net at some point so that she could catch the stupid things. She would not let them escape her forever. Actually, while she was at it, maybe she should start dressing like some of her sisters. Her normal style of clothing wasn’t the best for this terrain, and she often caught her feet in the long fabric. Yes, she should have been in uniform, but since when did she even listen to the rules? Point was, she needed to catch the fish or she would never be happy. If only someone would come to visit her. At least that would be something to do.

Its been a minute since Hyde visited the Velvet room, and there was something that would be going down pretty soon. Maybe that small  wave of peace would do him some good, calm him down just a little bit. “Hello?” Hyde would say as he walked in the velvet room with his cape flowing somewhat. IT wasn’t always a full house, since everyone seems to be doing something somewhere. Isora wasn’t here either, which made Hyde frown just a little bit, but there was another girl present. “Hey, I never met you before.” Hyde would say with a casual smile as he walked over. “Hi, I’m Hyde Mizumi, what’s your name?”  A new meeting always has a meaning to it, so Hyde wouldn’t downplay anything and keep himself in high spirits.

Strength

Lola would finally look at the newest person to enter the Velvet Room. She would look around, as if expecting someone to be behind her. When she finally realized that he had been speaking to her, she would point at herself, “Me? Are you sure?” It hadn’t been that long since the last person came to see her, and she still wasn’t used to seeing people. It made her happy to see those with Persona coming in though. She would pause for a moment to make sure she really wasn’t crazy, “I’m Lola de Pianura. Just call me Lola.” She would give him a once over before speaking again, “Are you sure you meant to speak to me? I usually have to be the one to say hello.” She was still confused as to what was happening, “So, Hyde… What brings you here? In need of an attendant’s advice?” She couldn’t think of another reason for him being there at the moment. She would have thought he was new, but he didn’t appear to be confused by his surroundings. That meant he was either completely stoic or he had been here before. She hoped n was the later, because she wasn’t a fan of the former.

“Mhm, you guys are very wise and intelligent. It feels like a weight on my shoulders is lifted every single time I walk in here, if the emotions tranquility could ever be described.” Hyde would say with an earnest smile as he sat down. “So of course I’m here to see you, but I wouldn’t really like to pile on a bunch of questions on you, I know you guys could be very busy. “Hyde was quiet for a moment, but he really needed counseling. Mentally preparing himself for the events to come was definitely something he had to do, there was too much riding on this mission. “I have a question, would you mind talking about one the moments you had that turned out to be hopeful in the end? I’m really interested in hearing some things about you. “ Hyde said casually, looking at Lola with his orange eyes.

Lola would shrug her shoulders at Hyde, “Yeah, we’re really busy. As you can see, we’re packed to the brim.” Her voice was heavy with sarcasm, as she pointed out all of the nothing that was happening in the Velvet Room at the moment, “I guess that’s what I’m here for though. Queen of the nothing, at your assistance.” She’d make a motion like she was putting a crown on her head and change her voice into that of some haughty, British royal, “Now what can I d for you, young squire?” Actually, wouldn’t they be knights and she the squire, given the roles they played? When the question left his mouth, she would tap her foot against the ground. What a strange thing to ask. She had to think of how to even answer that, “I don’t think I can answer that. See, situations don’t end hopefully. They end well. Hope is what we have in the meantime so that we know we can reach the happy ending.” If that made sense to anyone but her. She wasn’t really good at answering questions dealing with philosophy and all, “If you want to know about me, there isn’t much I can say. I just am and I am here. I also go to school, but that’s boring.” She’d point her finger into her mouth like she was gagging.

“Well, school isn’t so bad. You can get to make some friends , learn a few things they you haven’t known before. Play sports as well, my favorite sport is currently track, I like to run. It’s pretty useful when you have a skill that lets you run fast. Wait, it’s not that I’m fast , it’s that I can go for a pretty long time.” Hyde would say casually as he took a banana out of his bag and offered lola one. “Here you go, this thing is pretty tasty. I picked it off of lunapa island myself, one of the only places that you could get free produce, its good too.”

She would roll her eyes at the boy, “Tsk. The only thing that school has shown me is that there is somewhere with even more rules and work than this place. How do humans stand it?” So far, she hated school. She wouldn’t even be going if it wasn’t for that fact that she wanted to be closer to any Users that would show up, and she looked about the human age of seventeen. If she looked just the tiniest bit older, she could skip that dreadful place and do something more productive with her time, “Besides, I don’t need a track team. I could outrun them.” She was confidant in her speed. It was one of the things she did take pride in. That, and her ability to sneak by without anyone noticing her. She would have been the perfect spy if fate had been so kind, “I wonder which of us would win a race.” She admitted that her stamina was only average, but she figured she could beat him before it even mattered. She wouldn’t even need to take off her heels. As Hyde handed Lola the banana, she would take it and hold it up to examine it, “How fascinating. I haven’t had this before. I’ve only seen them on my adventures outside.” Before he could tell her how to properly eat it, she would take a bite of the fruit. Although she found it to have a rather strange texture, she would finish the food in no time, “Such a peculiar treat. Do you often bring food to those you have only just met or am I special?”

“A challenge to a race? I’m game! just let me know when and where, I don’t mind taking you on. Hyde would say with a competitive smirk. He welcomed challenges, and always yearned for a chance to test his skills against someone that was just as good as he was.  However, Hyde was pretty much distracted by the way Lola ate the banana. “Well, you should of pealed the banana first. I’m pretty sure that it would taste better without the skin or the stem you know. Also, I always bring enough to share with someone. I’m following this old proverb that says that food taste better when you share it with a friend, I think its pretty true. Hyde would say as he peals the banana for lola to see. “See, just like that. “ Hyde then takes a bite of the banana and continues speaking. “So, what school are you going to anyway? Zela?”

A twinkle went off in the corner of Lola’s eye, “I’m not going easy on you. Even if you are a guest.” She would relish out acing him, especially if she made it even more interesting, “Say, do you have your own attendant yet?” She was expecting a no since he didn’t come in here looking for a specific person. If the answer was a yes, she would put on a little pout and drop the topic. If he gave her that no she thought was coming though, “What do you say we make our race a little more interesting then? I bet I can beat you, and if I do, I get to be your attendant.” It also meant that she could write his name in her Compendium (once she got it) and officially be more than just an attendant spending her time rotting in this blue room. She kind of knew the man would have to be crazy to accept those terms though. She honestly just wanted an out. When he told her how to eat a banana, she would give him a ‘duh’ stare, “I know that I’m supposed to peel the thing. I just thought it would be like a grape or an orange where the outside is surprisingly good.” She had been wrong though. That thing was horrid, “Yes. Zela is nice, I guess, but it’s too stuffy. So many rules that I don’t care about.” Not that there were any rules she cared about, “Enough about me though, what about you? Surely your life is entertaining.”

“My own attendant?” Hyde thought about Isora as soon as she said that, but he hasn’t seen her in a while. “I don’t know if I do for sure to be honest with you. I did sign a book, but that’s a completely different story. “ However, there was mention of a race that made Hyde’s blood boil “A race huh? I’ll hold on to that for a minute, I would want to find location where we could both do our best. Like the track field or something…. That way…. There won’t be any excuses if I win!” Hyde was excited, but the question of his own life came up. It was only fair; Hyde was asking all of the questions until now. “Well, I guess I can be honest with you. Before killing shadows, I was killing monsters….enemies……? Hmm, I guess you could say that I’m from a parallel universe that used demons and angels and deitys the same as the personas model themselves after, but you could have more than one and everyone knew about it. Things got crazy; I guess you could say every day was exciting to say the least. All I really did was trade one reality for another, but it’s not like I could escape the violence. I would feel a bit uncomfortable telling another person this, but seeing as if you came from the velvet room, I guess we could level with each other like this….considering the fact that we are both anomalies in a way.

Lola would raise her eyebrow at him, “You’re a confidant one, aren’t you? I wouldn’t want to crush that ego of yours just yet. Mabe when it starts taking up the other half of the room I’ll think about it.” She was going to enjoy beating him in a race. It would also give her a chance to show off how useful of an attendant she could be. Speed and stealth were on her side, and she wouldn’t mind helping out her guests with what skills she had. If only she actually saw people enough to help them out with more than just the basic questions of who, what, when, where, why, and how, “Anomaly?” She would look taken aback by his words, “I think of myself as pretty normal thank you.” Despite living in a room underwater cut off from the human world by eerie blue doors, this was the world she was used to. It wasn’t her fault that those without potential didn’t see it, “Maybe the rest of the world is the abnormal one. After all, I’ve seen some of the things that happen there.” Although, most of those things were pretty cool, “But another world? That is pretty awesome. I mean, not the fighting, but that happens here too, so…” She would trail off, letting her words die as her brain wondered.

“Well, it was good to get that off of my chest. Besides, talking about the past and serious things is a bit depressing. “ Hyde had a small smirk when he stayed quiet for a moment, then he snapped his fingers. Hey Lola, did you ever realize how fish use the bathroom? And the setup here makes us breathe underwater and speak normally, as well as move normally. If the fish are real and there is nothing unnatural about them, and they do what they usually do… wouldn’t that mean were breathing….. umm… never mind…” Hyde was being weird again, but he wouldn’t be Hyde if he wasn’t. “So, when are we meeting up again? After school? Oh right, what year are you ?

Her mind would come back to the conversation, realizing it would rather stay a drift, because his next question was a little weird, “I never thought about that. It would be pretty gross, IF it weren’t for the fact that there are worse things. Did you know that dirt is basically insect poop?” She would lower her voice as if she were sharing a big secret, “Now think about the fact that your food grows there.” She only new so much about the human world, but she had found that one fact so strange that she couldn’t help but figure out just what was going on, “Compared to that, I think the water thing is pretty normal.” She had almost forgotten about the race in the time they had been talking about water and dirt. She had to remind herself to make a note of that so she didn’t forget, “We can do it then. I’m a second year, so maybe we’ll see each other around. If not in school, I’ll see you on the track field so I can see you at the finish line.” She had her own cocky nature. It came with the territory of being a fast runner. Too much pride to back down easily.

“Alright! Lola, I’ll bet my entire lunch on it. Just wait!” Hyde would say to Lola with a fired up expression on his face. However, before he left, he gave Lola one more banana. “Try peeling it this time alright? I’m positive that it’ll taste better. I’ll take off now, see you in school. Don’t be a stranger… and don’t forget our race!” Hyde would say simply as he left the Velvet room. He had a lot to training to do, it’s been while since had a fun challenge. Even though it was all fun and games, Hyde still wanted to give his all
