Boredom was the enemy of all. It was especially the enemy of Daiki Tanaka, who couldn’t live without some kind of excitement in his life. He stood outside some random store he hadn’t even bothered to look at. It was dark out, and it wouldn’t be light for hours. It wasn’t like him to be out so late, especially considering the kind of people who were usually here at this time. He had hoped this would cure his boredom, but it wasn’t looking that way as of yet. There was only one thing left for him to do. Create a scene, “Oh, how unfortunate. The world is passing by in one giant blur and no one is stopping to pay attention to it. How my heart would shatter, if it were not already broken. Such a troubling thing time is, waiting for us to walk by but never stopping to say hello. If only she would look my way and grace me with the sound of her voice. Such a wonderful thing that would be. Sweet time, do not look away from me, for any person like me would wish to see you and get to know you and that lovely voice.” If there were anyone who couldn’t hear him, it would be a miracle. He brought his voice back a little, realizing he may be drawing a bit too much attention, “How cruel she is. She cares so little for us that she’d rather we walk away from her. I know better though. I will wait for her as long as I must, until she finds me worthy to look upon her.” Then he would stop talking and look out at those who were now looking at him, “Then again, I have no idea what I’m talking about.” He sighed in relief as they looked away and kept walking. He knew this wasn’t a good place to be once the sun went down, but it strangely didn’t bother him as much as it should have. Instead, he would continue to lean against the wall and smiled, “Ah, she continues to walk by all of us.” He wasn’t a gangster or one of the troubled youth that were famous around these parts, but, maybe if they did something, it would end his boredom.
