The Valetina family were notorious in the underground world for being thieves. They were a proud family that stuck with the trade for generations, and taught their offspring much about the world at a tender young age. When Vera was born, she too would have to learn the ways of her family, even with the memory condition she held. On her thirteenth birthday her parents would finally let her in on their family trade. The "tradition" they all held since their parents, and their parents parents before them. During this time of her life, she lived with her parents in Russia, and lived an average life to date. That all changed after the talk.

Being called to the living room, the young Vera had no objections to go speak with her parents. It was another frigid day like all the others, so she wrapped herself in her blanket as she traversed the steps of her household to make it to the doorway of the living room. She could see a feint glow behind the small crack beneath the door, signalling there was a fire burning on the other side, and the thought of the warmth made her smile. Pushing over the door, the young girl made it into the next room to see her parents. They seemed to be in the middle of a conversation before suddenly stopping when they saw her. Sitting on the couch they would share a smile and look towards their only daughter.

"Mother? Father? Was there something you needed me for?" Vera asked in slight confusion as she walked over to her two parents and took a seat between them on the couch. The furniture was placed infront of the fireplace, making it a perfect spot to warm up. Her Mother placed a hand on her head and rubbed it a few times with a smile. "Dear, we have something to give you. You've finally reached the age where we can share with you your family's history." Her Mother reached behind her back to remove what appeared to be a leather book. It was clad in gold and held some dust on the cover. With a quick blow, she'd remove the dust and place the book on her daughter's lap. Flipping open the pages, she would start in the beginning, and Vera's Father would interject. "Our family comes from a long line of thieves, and every thirteenth birthday we teach our child about the family's path, and their inevitable future. Every thief within the Valetina family documents their life and their greatest accomplishments in this book to teach the generation after their own." The young girl blinked at the pages. The writing was very old and all in Russian. Luckily she could understand most of it, but the earlier pages was some kind of older version of Russian she had never come across in her brief life. It was rather interesting to her, and with the pictures detailing their crimes, she felt a twinkle spark in her eyes. Would she one day transcribe her own story within the pages of this book? To be remembered by even her own children, and their children aswell?

Vera lit up with excitement as the first page was turned and a story detailing her ancestor's life was laid upon the table. "This was your great great great Grandfather, and the first thief to document his journey. I bet it sounds silly for a thief to put clear evidence of their acts, but he had a thought in mind that maybe we could learn from any of his mistakes. I'd go as far as calling him the Black Beard of his age. He specialized in open seas thievery. But remember, Vera. We only steal from people who can afford it. That was the sole value he followed, and we'll continue to follow it for ages, okay?" Vera nodded as the pages flipped to the end of the book to show her parents own addition to the book. "So once you two are finished with your part of the book, then I'll get to continue your legacy? I'm excited!" She pumped her fists up and down like an excited child and her Father gave a laugh. "But first thing is first; we need to teach you a few things."

Locking the book away, the family would head down into the basement. There would be various set ups down there that was specifically put together for the young Vera to practice her thieving ways. Well, first she would need to learn a few tricks. For the next few years she would be working with her parents on becoming a rather capable thief. They taught her the essentials, such as being able to pick locks, blend in with a crowd, and even taught her how to defend herself when needed. She seemed to have a latent talent with being good with her hands, so she was even able to teach herself how to pickpocket without being noticed. She was becoming a full fledged thief like her parents before her.

Three years had passed, and in that time Vera had become a thief herself. Though none of her accomplishments compared to the large scale heists her family had done before her, she was well on her way to becoming quite formidable in that underground world. But before she could go on her first heist with her parents, they were called away. An employer wished for them to steal an artifact from a museum that didn't belong there. Both of them were rather hesitant, but they finally agreed to accept. When Vera wished to travel with them, they declined. They didn't want her involved with such a shaky mission. So departing, they left Vera in Russia, and the young thief thought nothing of it. She continued to think nothing of it until years passed and she still held no word from them. Before she could investigate what could have occurred, she found herself being shipped to Japan to live with her Aunt. She wondered what happened, and why she was suddenly being shipped away from her home. With no signs from her parents, she was forced to go against her will. On the plane ride to this strange place called "Ueitawa" she couldn't help but wonder what had happened and why she couldn't find answers about her parents. All she had from her old life was the book they had shown her and nothing else. It was like she was starting over... It was a somber feeling.

For once in her life she felt truly alone...
