NAME: Huayan Fei

ARCANA: The Priestess - Portrayed as an old woman with a closed book, the Priestess Arcana is a symbol of hidden knowledge or other untapped power, wisdom, female mystery and magic.

AGE: 18

APPEARANCE:
Standing at 5’3”(160cm) and weighing 112lbs (50kg), Huayan is on the shorter side for a young man his age, as well as not too far from being slightly underweight. Were he on the taller end he would have for certain been on the lanky side, and though he’s not entirely skinny through and through and does have a semi-lean build, given his stature overall, he usually cannot quite match others strength-wise in general, doubled by the fact that outside of not being a couch potato, he does not particularly seek out physical activities.

The minor shortcomings aside, he could be considered handsome in his own somewhat nerdy way. His short black hair is kept relatively neat, although it does like to ruffle here and there, and he has a habit of sometimes putting on faint red eyeshadow which helps accentuate his gray-green eyes.

Outside of school, he’s most often seen sporting a mix of casual and semi-formal style of wear, not appearing to be overly picky outside of seemingly having a preference towards avoiding clothing that reveals any more than a little bit of skin.

PERSONALITY:
The most obvious things one could note about the young man are that he is very much rather introverted and withdrawn, and often appears to almost actively shy away from interacting with others or socializing when he does not truly need to. Often choosing to remain by his lonesome even in places filled with people such as during school time, he is generally found focused on his own thoughts or whatever activity he is in the middle of, such as reading a book or the like.

Those who do approach him for one reason or another despite that may find that while he will do his best to engage, he can at times come off nervous and fidgety, showing a level of discomfort around people, especially those that don’t treat him with enough patience. Nevertheless, he is not truly a pushover and while it may not look that way, he can stand his ground and find ways to deal with those that bother him when it matters.

Given his relatively troubled upbringing and family situation, he finds himself not very convinced that the religious beliefs everyone is being forced to uphold are such a great thing, but he has observed enough to know that it would be a very bad idea for him to make his thoughts about the matter known, so he opts to quietly mind his own business instead and not make waves that he knows could get him into more trouble than he’d know what to deal with at this point. Perhaps too aware at times, both of the situation and the fact that he’s not really fit to do anything about it.

For an average person, Huayan might be a difficult one to get to know or befriend as many don’t truly give him much of a chance or see him as simply odd and not fun, but those who do would be able to say that he is in fact a kind and helpful person, as well as a surprisingly insightful friend to have.

BACKGROUND:
As far as Huayan can remember, his childhood was not among the brightest of times, living with parents that were seemingly under some sort of constant tension that he did not understand, underlined by the fact that he was a more difficult than average child to raise which only further aggravated the family situation and relationships at hand. It wasn't until a lot later that he learned the reason behind all of that...

Carmen Guerra was by all means and purposes a seemingly well-behaved woman, up until she made an ill-advised decision, perhaps on the grounds of not thinking it would truly come around to bite her. After all, what were the chances that someone would snoop around her personal life enough to find out she fooled around with a man she took interest in without being married yet? One could say they were indeed low, were it not for the unfortunate slip up that led up to her ending up pregnant and suddenly facing a difficult decision, for that was not something she could hide or excuse away. For both their sakes, she and the man in question, a foreigner that had come to settle in Ascanna a few years prior by the name of Lingyuan Fei, had decided to go through with a quick marriage to cover it up and make the claim it all happened very soon after. A successful save effort sure, but one that did not spell a bright future for the couple forced to deal with it all.

Not being the best match in the long term, on top of being saddled with a child that had neither been planned for, nor an easy one, the resentment and bitterness over it all kept steadily building up over the years, up until it boiled over in a spectacular fashion. Perhaps it was in a fit of hysteria, or perhaps the woman thought there was no way things could get worse anymore when she made the in the spur of the moment decision to lace her husband's drink with poison to get away from the whole family charade. Unfortunately for her, that time around she was not lucky to slip under the radar and was ultimately charged with murder, the Syr in charge of her case deciding to go the route of using her son as an example of punishment.

At that time, Huayan was 16 years old and while he has no memory of what really happened, the life after had only gone downhill regardless. His mother had not been the most loving towards him to begin with, that was something the decision had not truly accounted for, making it not as much of a punishment as it was meant to be. For the next 2 years, he nevertheless stayed living with her as it was no easy task to just leave at such an age, among other issues at hand, but would eventually move out to the capital city of Madrial once he was 18, doing his best to settle into living on his own while finishing his last high school year...

Even though the young man is currently unaware of the full extent of what had gone down after his mother committed the crime, he has pieced together enough to know that something is off. The shadow within him while it cannot speak to him in any direct way does occasionally seem to get across a variety of unintelligible mumbles of sorts, and he is subconsciously aware of a strange feeling of unexplainable pressure weighing on his mind from time to time. The fact that it lines up with the timing of everything falling apart is enough of a hint for him that it is related, even if he has no way of knowing the truth behind it all and what it means. He has plenty other difficulties to focus on however, making that just a blip on the radar for the time being...or so he would think...

SHADOW WEAPON NAME: Yue

BACKGROUND:
Qinglong (Chinese: 青龍 Qīnglóng), also known as The Azure Dragon, is one of the Dragon Gods who represent the mount or chthonic forces of the Five Regions' Highest Deities. It is also one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations, which are the astral representations of the Wufang Shangdi. The Azure Dragon represents the east and the spring season. It is also sometimes referred to as the Blue-green Dragon, Green Dragon, or the Blue Dragon.

The Dragon is frequently referred to in the media, feng shui, other cultures, and in various venues as the Green Dragon and the Avalon Dragon. His cardinal direction's epithet is "Bluegreen Dragon of the East".

APPEARANCE:

Yue takes the form of a faded dark green spear, sporting a medium length sharp blade on its end to carve through enemies with.

Weapon Form:

Before getting bonded with Huayan, Yue's appearance was that of a medium sized chinese Long, with bright teal scales and fur.

Symbiosis: When you make a weapon attack, you may channel a Persona move through it. Pay the cost, choosing only the target of your weapon attack as the target of your move. If your weapon attack is successful, apply the success effect (but not the critical effect) of your Persona move to the target too. Any bonuses to damage, such as Last Life or the critical effect of the weapon attack, are only applied to the original weapon attack.

Last Life: If you have less than half your maximum HP, you take on more traits from the shadow bonded to you, and all your damaging moves deal 3 extra damage.

When Last Life is active, Huayan gains some draconic features from his Shadow, namely a pair of translucent-looking teal horns, and his ears take on an elf-esque, pointy appearance, together with his hair growing long enough to reach down to his waist and his eyes taking on a brighter teal color that matches the horns.
