Appearance:
Shoulder length, slightly disheveled chestnut hair dyed with red tips, frames an almost statuesque face. His amber eyes can either be piercing like molten gold or warm and sunny, depending on his mood. Standing slightly taller than the average Japanese man, his posture is usually slumped so that he doesn’t stand out as much. A fair tan sets his wiry frame, although his muscles are well toned. A dragon tattoo snakes and ascends his left arm, ending behind his shoulder blade. Always wears a golden charm necklace, important for unspoken reason. Usually seen with either headphones or earbuds on his person as he jams to (mostly) idol music in his day to day life.
Stage Appearance/Mugic Created outfit:
Matching Shouhei’s straightforward and blunt personality- his stage uniform doesn’t leave a whole lot to the imagination- in fact save its armored lower half it would be an outfit he would wear normally, and often does. A black military style coat with gold trim is left its golden buttons unopened, revealing a plain white shirt underneath. The coat’s sleeves are always rolled up to its elbows, their red cuffs on the outside, with red under trimmings. Black leather half gloves cover his hands.
His waist is tied by a purple silk sash, often holding his blade’s sheath. Samurai fashioned armor of Kusazuri protects his groin, hips, and posterior. The Kusazuri are steel plates woven together with red cords. A crimson skirt with gold under trim lies beneath the Kusazuri and ends at knee length. Simple black slacks and black steel toed boots finish the ensemble.
Personality: An asshole with a heart of silver (nobody’s perfect). Outwardly Shouhei comes across as a withdrawn slacker and a no-good dreg of society. This is partially true; for when he actually talks to someone he knows he is very informal and crass- his stilted vocabulary is known to be riddled with expletives. However he has tried to curb his former behavior and attitude with a more relaxed, nonchalant vibe. Unfortunately his switch can easily be flipped with the slightest of provocations, reverting him to his former delinquent-like state. Usually he tries to keep it in check though, mostly by pausing before he speaks, rather than letting his emotions get the better of him.
Once people do get to know him, they’ll find a relatively simple-minded man. He does care about those close to him and is a steadfast friend with a skewed sense of humor (although by the way he talks it may at times seem like he’s disinterested in maintaining a friendship at all). Surprisingly enough he is also a hard worker- despite his blase attitude and past achievements at school- and is very committed to his tasks. However he prefers to keep most people at an arms’ length, choosing not to get too close to anyone.
While he tries to avoid fights nowadays there’s nothing that excites Shouhei more than a scrap… or an idol performance.

The Potential
|
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ All throughout his life, Shouhei has gotten into fights and brawls, accompanied by an extreme couple of years of training to be a Peacekeeper. He has an innate sense of fighting, particularly in reading body movements, spatial awareness, and flow of a battle. Those senses were further honed and sharpened to be a product worthy of battling demons and humans alike.
+ Trained in song and dance for a good portion of his life, while not innately adept like in fighting, his hard work and love of music has shone through. Although he could eventually climb in the music industry, his skills have earned him a lucrative job as an idol-like host.
+ Having taken part and eventually leading a bousouzoku (biker gang), Shouhei is knowledgeable about motorcycles and can handle one with ease, often equating it to “another set’a legs.” He knows his way through the city and can navigate it easily, threading through traffic and darting between alleyways.
- Rage fuels Shouhei, burns brightly within his veins, easily his biggest weakness. This seething ire has affected and shaped his life so much that he always has to stop and think before he speaks.
- Despite having some positive role models and influences in his life, Shouhei’s overall demeanor and attitude can be jarring and repulsive to many. This, coupled with his inherent distancing of people socially, often leaves him with few actual friends.
- With a plethora of extracurricular talents that he worked hard to excel at, this left Shouhei’s academics to suffer. While he may be street smart, he lacks book smarts and knowledge about certain subjects.
Soul Bound Instrument:
Instrument Name: Devil’s Maw
Instrument Description: A tsugaru shamisen, a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese instrument sanxian. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi. The tuning pegs are curved and appear like fangs. To accentuate this, its drum is decorated with the visage of a demon, and the bachi’s outward appearance is like the clawed hand of a devil.

The History
|
History: It seems that nature closely followed nurture in regards to Shouhei’s life. His father was a low-ranking member of the Yakuza, whose deeds landed him in jail before Shouhei could even remember his face. That practically left his mother to raise him alone, picking up a job as a hostess to make ends meet. All throughout his childhood he was constantly teased about his deadbeat father and promiscuous mother, leading the boy to constant fights.
If it weren’t for a childhood friend of his, Mariko, Shouhei would have been nonstop brawling. Her childhood dreams of becoming an idol superstar gave Shouhei an interest in something besides fisticuffs. Music, song, and dance awkwardly but strongly entwined in his daily affairs. This trend continued well on through their lives with Mariko eventually convincing Shouhei to take singing and dancing classes with her, especially in his first year of middle school, when he was kicked out of his kendo class for being too aggressive.
However, those classes didn’t stop Shouhei from other extracurricular pursuits. Joining a bosozoku (biker) gang seemed to fit a bit better with the brawling lifestyle. Eventually Shouhei rose through the ranks and became a rather terrifying boss of his own, becoming somewhat notorious- a moniker was given to him, simply as ‘the Devil,’ accompanied by his horned motorcycle helmet. A dreadful incident would soon follow after this supposed lofty achievement…
...Which would eventually lead to Shouhei incarcerated for half and year. Let out on good behavior and his relatively clean record (a couple of misdemeanors, vandalism in particular), so long as he also mandatorily attend psychiatric treatment for another half of a year. Immediately he retired from his leadership of a biker gang (but still currently rides his motorcycle around the city and for his courier job). During these trips to psychiatric treatment (and at the bar), he met Ichika Kurosawa, a former Peacekeeper.
Upon hearing Mariko’s decision to become a Peacekeeper, Shouhei wanted to follow suit. What better way to utilize his urges for violence than to project it on demons instead of humans? Let alone prove to others that he was better than a common thug, in fact as a duty quite literally the opposite. His first attempt failed miserably; he was rejected in auditions and told to come back in a couple years due to his previous incarceration. He then begged Ichika to mentor him, to drill him as quickly and harshly as she could so as to prepare him for becoming a Peacekeeper.
The next couple of years brutally molded Shouhei. He currently does his damnedest not to get into any fights. In a totally unexpected chance encounter he was offered a position at a host club and actually managed to draw clientele interested in him (his singing and dancing practice certainly helped). In all of his efforts to busy and rid himself from the life he used to live, it has taken its own toll on him.
But he still sings and dances for Mariko.
