Kendo Meet at Aoharu High [Open]

Daiki felt his pride being deflated as the pink haired girl ignored him. He laughed at the moment. To him it was actually a little funny. Quite sad, yes, but funny. He sighed. At least he could laugh at the situation. That was beside the point now. He had to go support his team and hopefully not get his pretty little ass kicked. Though that was not really in the ‘easily accomplished’ part of his plan. He just had to follow the caption of their competitors to the place where they would battle. It was rather exciting, and he wanted to cheer. Would that be too unprofessional? Maybe when somebody won would be better. Or maybe whenever someone got a point. Now that he thought about it, he didn’t know how the actual meet would work. Maybe he should have attended more practices. To late for such thoughts now. He sat down with the rest of his team. To him, it was just boring to wait. He was getting restless, so his foot began tapping. The first match would have to start soon, right? His question was answered by a woman apparently challenging one of his team members directly. What a treat. He got to see a fight and cheer (as it was all he could do successfully). Though, “Her manors are a bit brutish for such a lovely looking thing.” He said out loud by accident. As soon as he caught himself, he went quiet.

Kahn flinched a bit at Naito's little speech about his attitude...he expected it, but still he needed to remind himself that Naito was not a team player, and most certainly did not believe in second chances. He would shrug, he really didn't want a speech from Naito..it would kill his mood, "Alright, I'll drop the speech. Let's win this, I'd like to prove them wrong, and show them that we worked as hard as they did if not harder."  He would say in response to Naito's scolding. Then he would go back to focusing on the fight ahead of him, and when Gabby wished him luck, he would offer a nod too her as a sign of thanks.

As they were gearing up, he heard Lorielle and Naito's conversation, "Good point, Lorielle, they're playing mind games with us. I think we ought to return the favor a bit." He would say with a small grin, but he would keep his helmet off as the announcer explained how it would work, and stuff that Kahn had heard before. Nothing new here, but when Aoharu's team stepped out, Kahn felt a little surge of adrenaline flow through his veins. This was it, he was ready for whatever challenge awaited him! Nothing is going to stop him today, and he was ready to prove it! His green eyes would narrow, particularly the captain of Aoharu. That was the challenge that he wanted, he wanted to knock him down a few pegs. However, it turned out that would not be the case for today...instead he got someone he did not quite expect.

The pretty tomboy with blond pigtails, or Rai, as the announcer called her stepped forward and challenged him. Well this was a surprise to say the least, Kahn didn't expect to be the first act. He would simply nod, and approach to where the two would begin their duel. The boo'ing made him a bit angry, but he had to control himself. They were just trying to get in his head, but he hoped to flip the tables on them. When they were close enough that a normal voice would be heard Kahn would reply to her little challenge, "Pet names already? We haven't even been out to dinner!" He would say before donning his helmet, and would proceed to follow the traditional honor code of bowing before the match began. All the while he carefully analyzed his opponent. Was she like Lorielle, being fast and nimble? Or did she like to try and over-power her opponents? If she was the latter, then she would struggle with Kahn. Who was most likely stronger, but if she was the former then Kahn would have to use his reach to his advantage. Maybe she had an entirely different strength, well in the next few moments, Kahn would find out for certain.

Once the honorable customs were out of the way, Kahn would wait for Rai to make the first move. Should she strafe, he would move to keep her in front of him. He wanted to force her to commit to a frontal attack, rather than give her a flank and dart in and out of his reach. The more control he had over this fight and his opponent the better he would be. For now he just had to withstand his foe's first attack, and then counterattack with fury and power.

So, as far as Gabby understood, Kendo was people shooting at each other. That sounded like every other sport she had ever heard of. Ever. It was just a confusing mess to her. The only thing she could tell was that Kahn seemed to be called out by a member on the other team. A woman with blond pigtails and an obviously more masculine way of behaving was the culprit. She looked like she was eager for a fight. She didn’t know if that was a normal way to ask for a fight, but she didn’t complain. Instead she would just sit there and wait for anything to happen. She would mutter something inaudible under her breath and sighed. Just sitting here was making her anxious. Was this why people watched and played sports? It was exciting.

"If I were one who gives up after a few words, then I wouldn't be where I am today." Was Kahn's only reply to Rai's taunt. Then it was time for the two to square off with one another. He had bent his knees and assumed the standard Kendo position. He waited for the referee to signal for the match to begin. The moment the referee's hand dropped, the girl named Rai darted forward her weapon going straight toward his throat. A place that he would rather not get hit in. However, Kahn found out what he strength was rather quickly, and her strike would have landed if.....

Kahn didn't already expect her to try and sucker-punch him.

Fighting more unsavory people in his hometown taught Kahn a thing or two about fighting. The first is that it is rare that anyone fights fair, and the second is always to be prepared for the unexpected. Even the most honorable people will forget their honor if they are threatened enough. All that matters in the fight is victory and survival. His light scars on his face testified to his struggle in some of his fights, as did more visible ones on his body. Predicting her move he would immediately retreat backwards five feet with one large step. This took him out of the reach of her blade, and gave him distance from her. Noting her speed he knew would need all the room he could get. Using the time it took for her to recover from her stance, he would bend his legs and get back into standard position. He smiled behind his mask, this would be very interesting. Fortunately, fighting against Lorielle had taught him a bit about fighting against faster opponents. For now he watched his foe very carefully anticipating her next move, and planning for a possible counter attack.
