The sun hadn't reached high in the sky yet, but The Backlight was already bustling. Making her way through the crowd of people was a dreary looking girl with a goal in mind. She needed to pick up supplies from a few shops for the Drama Club at school. But Yanagi didn't expect the place to be so crowded and busy early in the day. Instead of continuing to fight the crowds, the purple-haired girl ducked into a coffee shop to help her handle the foot traffic. It was close to the edge of the massive mall, large windows giving an outdoor view. While the coffee shop was about as crowded as the rest of the mall, most people took their drinks and left.
It was only a minute before Yanagi had reached the front of the line. The staff were like coffee making machines using coffee making machines. Yanagi was caught off guard by the speed, not having stopped at the cafe before. She managed to meekly order, "One Pumpkin Spice please." It was only a moment before her seasonal drink was ready and the girl was out of the line. Not wanting to risk spilling her drink from getting bumped in the quickly growing human sea outside, the teen looked around the cafe for a not so crowded part to enjoy her drink.
A small two-person table was situated in a corner next to one of the large windows caught her attention. Quick as she could manage while avoiding other patrons, Yanagi made her way to the quiet spot. Once in her seat, the Yanagi took a deep sip of the spiced coffee. It warmed her better than the sweater or crowds of people had when she first got inside. Out of the corner of her eye, the young lady thought she saw something right outside. When she turned to look she saw a colorful bird sitting on a planted tree eating something.
With a soft smile, Yanagi sat her coffee down and pulled out a notepad from her purse. She hadn't expected to see something like that on her shopping trip, but she wouldn't pass up the chance. Using just a pencil the girl began sketching the bird as it sat there. The rich blues of the feathers really caught her attention. Sadly she hadn't packed anything colored, not expecting to be doing any drawing while out. That didn't stop Yanagi from completely ignoring the rest of the cafe a she slowly put the bird onto paper.
