He peeked around the corner. "Enemies at twelve-o-clock, I don't think they've seen us yet. He would pull out his revolver from its holster, and pop the cylinder to briefly inspect it. That sone, the albino would spin the cylinder before locking it back into place, and cocking the hammer on the firearm. A small hiss came out through clenched teeth, as his free hand came up to rub some of the reddened skin on his shoulder, the outmost layer of tissue peeling off under the slightest agitation. The hand clenched, his nails sinking into the soft tissue underneath. The burns really hurt, only further fueling the destructive impulses that the mere idea of demons being present gave rise to within him.
But now not only was there the implication of demons, but actual presence. Combine that with the pain of his burns from the day's little field trip, his frustration how the previous demon encounter now had just gone, and sprinkle in small reminders in the back of his head about a whole fucking city full of demon-loving freaks, and he was just about seeing red. The clenching hand finally let go, and the imprints left by his nails would slowly begin to fill with red. And then it slowly began to drip, drawing thin, bloody streaks down his shoulder until they hit the fabric of his shirt, and soaked into that.
"Hopefully you two are ready to tear up some more demons." His usual effort to hide his emotional state was absent. His killing intent was plain and obvious, both in his tone, and in the expression he gave the two. He would replace his firearm in its holster, before summoning his baton, in its compressed state, into his hand. Part of him did wonder where it came from, but most his mind didn't really care where i came from, or how. All he really cared was that it was good for killing demons. If the two were to observe him, they might notice his eyes shifting over to an unnatural yellow sheen.
"Go time." Was all he said, before stepping out from behind the corner, and breaking into a sprint. A flick of his wrist would bring out the full length of his baton with a sharp "click". He kept the baton raised, drawing a gouge into the wall as he closed the gap in between. "Time to die, hellspawn!"
That battle did not go well. Isaac took a deep breath and breathed out, rolling his shoulders to relieve the kinks in his muscles. Last time he'd done this he'd had the benefit of Susan's restorative abilities. This time, however, that aspect was sorely lacking. Isaac didn't say anything about the ambush, however, instead sticking to the others like glue as they traveled forward.
Gozai seemed to have a similar feeling about the battle to Isaac's own, and his mood, which was already fairly foul, was growing fowler. Isaac had wondered about Gozai since his tempered outburst in the train to Domiona, but he hadn't questioned the boy about it. It was easy enough to assume the worst. Someone or something...or both had been taken from Gozai at the hands of demons. They'd all lost something...someone. And where Isaac saw it more as a natural disaster, there were some Cadets that saw it as a war. It wasn't a forest fire, it was a firefight. There was some truth to the notion, Isaac mused, though he himself couldn't allow himself to get caught up in the rage that the sentiment would bring. No, he did his best to stay level-headed at all times. A wise stance. Anger is often the quickest path to destruction. It makes you careless, and in this business a mistake can cost you your life. The Sagely voice of Samyaza came in his head to answer. Isaac nearly answer him out loud, but the sullen atmosphere of the moment stayed him. Instead he thought back to the weapon. Learned that from dad.
And your father learned it from us. And from experience. You wouldn't believe how prone to anger that man was in his youth. It was quite a sight to behold. We used to refer to him jokingly as "Samson."
But Samson's power came from his hair, not his anger.
When you live through the darkest moments in human history, you can tell me how it went. Until then, I'll tell you what's what, young man.
Isaac visibly winced, flinching away from the weapon as though the assault had been verbal. whatever you say, gramps.
The path wound around and at length, Gozai stopped, informing them that there were demons close. Isaac gave a silent nod, and readied his weapon, looking to Athena as well before Popping a couple of Medicine pills in his mouth. Time to get ready for another one. "Lead on, buddy, I'm right behind you."
Honestly, the anger that Gozai exhibited worried Isaac. It reminded him of Albrecht, and how Gozai seemed to admonish Albrecht's display of destructive force. It was like a powder keg that could go off at any moment, and when it did neither friend nor foe would be without injury.

Athena removed the medicine from her purse before carefully applying it to her wounds. Though her powers allowed her to weaken the minds of their enemies she couldnt stop them from frenzying and so far the demons had manage to tear up parts of her outfit. "I should just ask my tailor to make me more than one uniform, being a cadet is not a cheap job." She said as she tore up part of her practically ruined sleeve. It was unclear if she was speaking to her teammates or herself. She didn't move until she made sure her wound was well taken care of.
"So far everything goes smoothly. I wish we had someone to effectively heal us but I guess beggars can't be choosers. Remember to alert me if you are feeling weakened or tired, there is no rush to push forward and though the more ground we cover the better there is no point putting our lives in any...well more risk than we already are." She finally said, this time directing her team. "You can feel free using your magic attacks I have way to recover your stamina should it come to this. Then again we've been dealing with these demons too fast to actually get tired, right guys?" She flipped her hair as she finished that line making sure to appear as cool as possible. She was certain the two rookies must have been awestruck.
"Let's follow the same strategy on our next encounter." Athena said when Godzai spotted the shadows on the end of the room. "My enchantment in combination with Issac's buff gives us a huge advantage over them. Remember to focus the one that appears to be the weakest, even though my Infuriate makes them too unfocused to use any complex abilities it removes any inclination to hold back... you might have noticed that by how far they'll go to hit us." She looked back at her torn sleeve.
She pulled out her weapon and took her position at the center of the group. Though she was probably going to rely once again on her persona and the magic she commanded Athena always felt safer with her soulbound weapon on hand, after all she couldn't know if the enemy had tricks similar to hers. Of course she doubted any demon could match her social manipulation she was the most clever person in Endymion, aside from being the cutest.
