As the bell to signify lunch break had ended, Tomomi went back to classes. Time went by, and eventually, the afternoon bell went. But, rather than going straight home, the boy decided to further his education. He had a lot he still wanted to know, and there was always room for self improvement, right?
Finding himself a quiet corner in the library to sit, tucked away out of sight of others, Tomomi got a book he'd been researching and reading out from his bag. Different types of birds. In particular, he felt like reading about a random bird. So, after flicking through some pages at random...
His hand stopped on the page, looking down and reading it. Swallows? An interesting bird he found, as he read through the description of its flight path. It seemed that it made its nests in the north, such as in England and Scotland, and then for the winter to avoid the cold, flew all the way south to Africa. Then, once the winter had passed, it flew back to where it was hatched in order to make its own nest, and stay for the spring and summer. Such an interesting bird... How did it fly so far on its own? Its description did not make it seem like a very large bird... Then again, after the eternal divide... Was the bird still alive? Or was it extinct?
The thought was depressing. The boy closed his book, putting it back away to read another time. That was enough reading for today. Instead, the boy got up, sighing, as he went back to his home. "Home"... Heh. Funny word.
