Gone Fisning (Cecil/Gabe/Rank 3)

"Don't worry, it's not like it's expecting you to have the world figured out before nightfall. It might not even come to you now, but from everything that we did together, even this moment right now. "

Gabe would say this as he passed over the stick that had Cecil's fish on it. The fish was fully cooked and ready to be eaten.

"There is always the case of giving thanks to the little bits of peace that we have in our lives. And yet, it seems so hard to live this way without great sacrifice. I mean, for example, not far you can go without money. Maybe connections, or maybe another crazed event of demons attacking. You mull over it all, and hopefully, the conclusion is that we just might have an entitlement of a choice. A choice to live without worries, even if we regard their existence as a big part of our lives. I sometimes wonder if it's temporary..."

Gabe then bit into his own fish and poured himself some iced tea.

"But don't worry about that, lets eat!"

Silently, Cecil took his stick and bit into his fish, deep in thought about what he had been told. Successive bites soon managed to sidetrack him, however. "...this is good."
He was a good ways through the fish before he remembered what he was thinking about, at which point his attention turned back to Gabe. "It'll hold on as long as people make the effort to hold onto it. All of this only came from people doing their best to make things better, after all."

He continues eating his fish from there, not speaking up again.

"I see...."

They ate in silence for a while, but Cecil's answer was adequate enough that it wouldn't need any more explaining. He seemed like a fine lad and had alot of hope in the world, it made what Gabe was doing at night s a terrorist have a little more meaning. Or at least he felt that he had a bit more meaning in his life by going through with what he did. It wasn't as if he was only fighting for himself, there were other people whose lives he would affect by doing the right thing.

"...."

Or what he believed to be the right thing.

Cecil finished up his fish and sat a little longer, still pondering just what the meaning of all this was...what the meaning Gabriel had in mind happened to be, anyway.
It was another potential lesson that he was missing, a little thing that he could have been better for knowing but just couldn't figure out.
There were probably a whole pile of those, really. This wouldn't be the first thing to go sailing overhead, and it definitely wouldn't be the last.
Because this was him.
If he actually learned his lessons, he wouldn't have the problems he'd come to deal with so frequently.

Eventually, he checked his phone and picked himself up, glancing over at Gabe. "I think I need to get moving. If nothing else, I've got to get back home." He pauses a while, and shrugs, glancing away. "It was nice, though. Glad I did this."
"See you, Gabriel."

Placing his earphones in, Cecil sets off home, smiling and yet looking somewhat pensive.
