| The Swim Society really was a nice place. The people that had made all of it happen and kept the place going from then on had really done a good job. For what was essentially a community project, the place was of a comparable standard to an actual commercial enterprise - and in some ways, better. He wouldn't have been surprised if the local District Leader had a hand in that. The money had to come from somewhere. They were keeping it quiet if that was the case, though.
As much as he enjoyed the place though, Cecil's steps into the water park were rather tentative. The noise of the place could make for a hell of a sensory overload when the place was busy...not to mention the consequences of a place being full of people when dealing with them was an immense struggle. There was the whole thing of going to a place like this when you weren't the most comfortable in your body. He wasn't actually that bad, but as he stood awkwardly with his arms crossed over his stomach, he couldn't imagine it that way.
At least the place wasn't too busy today. Just had to get over to the water.

| " Waaaaah", Brittany yawned, stretching her arms before crossing them behind her head, resting comfortably on one of the many beach chairs available. Sunglasses on her eyes, she was having a good time for once. Not being in the main cheerleader team anymore had its advantages; the available free time was one of them. After months, years as one of the main cast members, she decided to spend her newly gained hours at her own entertainment. For example, going to a water park and relax. Though Brittany's self-esteem was a roller coaster ride with as much downs as ups, today was a good day for her lack of modesty in her body features. Except for the lower part of her pinkish bikini, maybe... At least there was some use to the various ribbon details on it. Now, to get up and dive into the pool or stay and enjoy the warm sunbath? She removed the sunglasses a bit, taking a glance around. There weren't that many people around that day, probably because it's a week day, not a weekend. On the other hand, there was a figure she easily recognized; the hair style is pretty similar. It didn't look like the guy had noticed her, but knowing Brit, that's a matter of time she was already on her way to solve. Raising one warm and waving effusively, it wouldn't be long until Cecil could hear a familiar voice yelling his name. " Over here!" | |

| Initially, when he heard the voice, Cecil assumed that someone was trying to call someone else's attention. He might have retained that belief too if he hadn't heard his name being called. At least he didn't leap out of his skin anymore when people did something like that. ...not all the time, at least. He looked over to spot a girl he'd seen only once before in memory, when they gave him one of the bigger culture shocks he'd had thus far. "...Brittany?"
He walked over to where the girl was, unconsciously crossing his arms over his body again as he came to a stop nearby. "I...didn't expect to see you here?" Or at all, really. It was pretty much written all over his face that he hadn't expected to be called over, and didn't quite know what he was doing right now. "How are you, ah...doing?"

| "I'm great! I didn't expect to see you here either? Didn't know you were the beach kinda guy. I mean, it's not reaaaally a beach but the feeling is just the same...maybe? I dunno, I've never, like, been to a beach before, lived my whole life here in Endymion", Brittany said, laughing sheepishly as she tossed the sunglasses aside.
"I wonder if I can get a tan... Anyway, what about you? Came to relax a bit from school? While we're at it... mind if I ask you to, like, crouch or bend down a bit? You're too tall to keep looking upwards..."

| Cecil tilted his head side to side. "I...wouldn't say this is like a beach...bit of a difference between inside and out, not to mention stuff like the sand and the stuff you tend to find at the seaside..." He shrugs. "That was...a while ago though, admittedly. Doubt the beach would be quite the same place now."
"Oh! Right, ay, um, ah, uh..." Cecil crouches down, using one hand to hold his balance. "Is, ah...that better?"

| "Well, yeah. I wouldn't know, never been to a beach before. The closest to it was, you know, the river we have in town", Brittany chuckled at her own naivety. It was weird to say she had always been a country girl who never had the experience to venture outside the limits of the city. What was it like? What was it like before the Divide? Was there even a beach somewhere? She could only wonder.
"Yes, that's soooo much better!", she grinned satisfied, leaning her elbows on her knees. Cecil's awkwardness didn't pass unnoticed, and in a way he looked just like Maria. The shy attitude was pretty much the same among them. "So, have you been to a beach before? You have, right? You talked like you had. What's it like? The feeling of putting your feet into the sea must be different than doing it in a pool, isn't it? I have the feeling the water feels weird compared to this, might taste different too..."

| He scratches at the back of his head with his free hand, glancing away. "Yeah...can't say I remember perfectly, I was a lot younger, but...yeah." He gives a slight nod, looking back as his hand drops. "It's...cold. Really, really cold, from what I remember, though that might have just been the fact everywhere else was pretty hot..." He chuckles awkwardly. "You stand in it, and you can feel it moving over your feet as the waves comes in and out. Definitely don't want to get any of the seawater in your mouth, though. You wouldn't believe how salty it is." | |

| "Ah, it's no problem for me. I like my food how I like my enemies: extremely salty", Brittany giggled mischievously, waiting for Cecil's reaction to her humorous banter. Regardless of it being positive or negative, shortly after she'd complement: "Kidding. I don't have enemies...I think? You never know when someone dislikes you in secret, but whatever. Things like that you can't really help.", she shrugged. "The sea looks scary to me, you know... I mean, the waves coming forth, dying at the sand, only to return and start it all over, this is not scary at all, it's kinda poetic and beautiful to watch. But the sea itself, it's, like, so big, and vast, and you keep wondering what's underneath, wishing to go further. Have you ever thought about it? I remember reading in a science magazine that humans have studied nearly 10% of maritime life. Can you imagine that? Like, we don't even know half of the things that go in the sea, half of the animals there. Maybe there are more monsters in there than we can dream of!" | |

| Cecil snorts at the comment. "Maybe if you prefer your salt in literal piles, sure." As Brit speaks of being unable to help it when people dislike you in secret, Cecil can't help but swallow and glance away, remembering something else. He sighs and looks back as she turns back onto the topic of the ocean, shaking his head clear. "Not just animals and monsters. There'll probably all sorts of strange plantlife down there as well that's never seen the light of day." He hums. "For all we know, that's where the demons were stuck before they showed up every day. Devils and fishmen wrestling with krakens for space far below the depth where nobody can reach, staying down there because that's where all the real food for them is..." He scoffs. "Or maybe they just had no idea how to swim and got stuck flailing underwater." | |

| "I know right? I so totally know! But isn't it just making things scarier? I mean... plants do photosynthesis to feed themselves, they kinda, like, need solar light for that?? If a plant lives deep under the sea, so deep the light won't reach... then what does it feed on?", Brittany glanced at Cecil, eyebrows raised in a mix of dread and excitement as the answer would be left open for speculations. She did enjoy having deep (no pun intended!) conversations about existential crisis or scientific revelations and curiosities about the world they live in. Learning and getting to share this knowledge with someone with similar interests was always a fun experience, specially she couldn't handle the same topic in her circle jerk of cheerleaders and jocks. "All this talk made me wanna take a swim. I've rested enough, I'll get sunburns if I stay here for one more second!", readily standing up, Brittany again stretched her arms upwards, scaring the last hints of unpretentious laziness before setting her position straight. "Wanna come?" | |

| Cecil shrugs. "I don't know...not really familiar with that. But when you have stuff like mushrooms and venus flytraps, it's not crazy there's something else." He...didn't particularly find any of it scary, anyway. Maybe if it was trying to kill him, but otherwise...it was just nature. It was how things worked. Known or not, things would develop all sort of ways to keep themselves alive.
For a moment, Cecil gave Brittany a questioning look. Talking about how the ocean was terrifying and full of all sorts of unknown horrors...made her want to go into the water...? There was a chain of thought there, but...what? His thought process is derailed again as her voice reminds that there is, in fact, an entire world he's occupying. After a moment of surprise, he stands back up with a wince, and kicks out one leg. "How did I give myself a dead leg...?" He shakes his head clear and looks back to Brit. "I mean...I did come here to swim, so..."

| "Oh yeah? Then why did I spot you standing there doing nothing? Why are you not wet yet, huh? Mr. Smart Tongue!", Brittany playfully rubbed one finger against Cecil's arm to verify the dryness of his skin, promptly raising said finger up to his eyes' height so he could see it for himself and prove her point. "Enough of turning oxygen into CO2, com'on!", she grabbed him by one hand, directing her steps in the nearby pool's direction. Not before turning her head back with a teasing grin. "You know, I can't swim, so if I drown, I count on you to save me, mmkay?" | |

| "I-I didn't mean-" Cecil jumps as Brittany suddenly starts rubbing his finger on his arm, giving a wild-eyed look that questions just what was going on and why it was happening. "D-did you- wha?!" The shock becomes palpable as he finds himself being dragged along, too stunned to resist. "What do you mean you can't swim?! How are you supposed to swim if you can't swim?!" | |

| The confusion printed on Cecil's face was delicious, she almost felt bad about her singular joke. Almost being the key word, because it was delightfully hilarious to explore his lack of social traits. She wouldn't get into the pool more than her limitations would allow, but there is definitely something in her mind planned for Cecil. Ah, there is! "I'm not! I'm sure the pool isn't so deep, I won't drown, relax. The pools here don't have waves either, so it's all good. I was just, you know, joking, don't worry too much!"
Once they reached their goal, Brittany crouched down, letting one hand dangle in the water back and forth. "Ahhh the temperature is just so nice for a hot day! I'm so glad we at least have this in Endymion. It'd suck if we didn't, wouldn't it?"

| "But-I-you-just-why-but-" He groaned loudly into the hand was not being pulled along by. "Come on, that's not funny! At all!" Indignance bled into his voice as the situation started to get all too familiar. Why couldn't he escape people trying to wind him up? "Why would you SAY that? You didn't have to say that! At all! So why?! Why would you DO that?!"
As he was pulled to the water, Cecil looked around, finding himself increasingly wary after the events of before. "Yeah, uh, I ah, imagine it would..." He swallows, expecting shenanigans at any moment for one simple reason. "Um, Brittany...why haven't you let go yet...? You...aren't going to do something, right...?"
