| The sound of a pen scribbling and scratching over a paper surface would be heard echoing around the otherwise silent office room. It was one of those paperwork checking and filling days, and Crow was seated at his desk boredly. One arm’s elbow resting on the wooden surface, with his chin against the hand, as he filled out some sort of a form with the other. God, he would really love to trade this part of owning business for something else at times. The formalities were just so non-engaging, and most of the time, it was almost the same shit over and over. To be honest, he was only half-paying attention to the document under his pen right now, not even seeing the need to get too into it. Only a thing here and there truly needed to be scanned and read thoroughly. This was a very mindless job for the most part, and it was great at making Crow restless unbelievably fast.
Shifting to move the now completed paper to the stack of already finished things, the Chimera man would pause briefly to stretch his arms upwards. Someone seriously needed to invent a way to skirt around these duties. It would make management positions or jobs a whole lot less agitating to handle. Not needing to fight through all this nitty gritty in order to get the main goals accomplished would be amazing, not gonna lie. Grumbling to himself, he would reach over to grab another paper to look at, skimming over it briefly, only to find himself having to squint at the words in more detail on second thought. The hell were these numbers, and why? He was so not aware of this much funding needing to go into that area…and there clearly needn’t be. Well…so much for simply getting papers out of the way and leaving.
Fishing out his phone, he would swipe through his contact list until he found the person he needed, giving them a ring, tapping his fingers against the desk while he waited for them to pick up the call. Why did complications always have to pop up when they were the least wanted? Nevertheless, he would push his woes aside from a moment as the call connected through. “…Hi, boss. Need anything?” The guy clearly sounded like he was worried about where this was going to go. It wasn’t that Crow didn’t talk to the people working for him outside of when problems came up, but calling them at random? Nah, that was a little unusual. “I would like to ask as to why are the bills for bar upkeep so high this time around. You’re in charge of this stuff, right?” The person on the other side would sigh sheepishly before attempting to explain. “Yeeeah, well, we kinda had issues with a few things getting broken on accident, and had to replace them, so it cost a liiiiitle more than normal.” Raising an eyebrow to himself, Crow would glance at the numbers again for a moment, silently running approximate calculations for this. Hm. “….and I wasn’t informed earlier because?” Things happen alright, and he’d just deal with occasional mishaps here and there, but it only gave him more workload when he had to investigate happenings due to not having been told about them when the information was still fresh. He sure did skim over documents a lot, but he knew his average numbers for stuff, and spotting a really odd one wasn’t too hard. “I didn’t think it was necessary, but I guess I didn’t think that one through…whoops. Sorry.” Right, he really needed to tape people’s responsibilities onto their faces one day. Though on second though, they needed to see, so maybe not.
“It’d be appreciated for this to not be a repeated thing.” Crow would shake his head as the guy gave hasty agreements, seemingly eager to get away from the conversation. Were his workers wimps now too? It wasn’t like he could afford to end their lives or something, and while this was an unfortunate time waster, it wasn’t that big of an offense. There were way worse problems that could arise, and he would gladly take miscommunication on such a small scale over that any day. Ending the call, he would set the device down as he scribbled down a few personal notes on a different paper before filling that bill document away where it belonged. God, he had only started recently and he still accomplished nearly nothing. Why was his luck so damn horrible? With a click of his tongue, he would pull some regulation form towards himself, twirling his pen a little as he read over the fine print. This, that, blah blah. Meh, at least most of these things seemed like they needed to just be signed, or read over and archived, which was slightly less overall work than having to write shit out each time. It was still such a brain stopping work though, and he was contemplating just hitting his head on the desk and knocking himself out for a while so he didn’t have to deal with this. As appealing as the idea was though, that would only delay and prolong his suffering, which was a terrible choice of a solution.
Scribbling his signature down on another paper, he would ponder how great it’d be to be able to create duplicates of oneself that could do all the annoying work for you, giving you more free time to partake in enjoyable activities. Hmm…maybe it was possible to get a robot to do this? Bleh, well, he still needed to actually see these, making it nearly impossible for the job to just be passed over to another person. He wasn’t going to trust someone to do this properly behind his back. People were an unpredictable bunch, and the earlier snag in terms of bar work only proved that fact further. Not that he could do everything and anything at the same time….
