Subject: Susan Groves, Rogue Persona User for Endymion Fri Nov 03, 2017 5:39 pm
Susan Groves "....h...huh? O-oh, I apologize, I had something else on my mind."
The Biography
Birth Name: Susan Groves Aliases: Sue, Ms. Groves Gender: Female Age: 28 Birth Day: April 29th Arcana: Priestess Place of Residence: A private residence in Sunlake Palms Evoker: Mental Shackles Academy Semester: N/A Class: N/A Sorority: N/A
Full Time Job: Business Adviser/Economic Analyst
Appearance:
Susan Groves is a short young woman of 28 years, standing at a slightly-below-average 5'3" and weighing around 130lbs give or take. Her skin is fair and on the paler side, it tends to happen when you spend all your youth studying and your adult life working. Being as straight-laced as she is Susan has no tattoos and her only piercings are in her ears as traditional. Her eyes are a lighter shade of mocha and a beauty mark sits below the left one. Susan's hair doesn't quite reach her shoulders and she wears it feathered outward, though it is black in color she's naturally blonde.
Susan happens to be a little on the thicker side but not quite to an extreme degree, although she does diet (and fails her diets) to attempt to slim down. She dresses very conservatively and is most often find in a pant suit. Even outside of work she'll dress in a manner most would for church, either in button-downs and skirts or polo shirts and slacks. Jeans aren't really appropriate for being out and about in public as far as she's concerned.
Alternate Appearance:
When Susan is using her potential she appears covered completely in bandages from head to toe including a complete covering of her face. Although her eyes, nose, and mouth are covered the bandages are light enough to see and breath through without any difficulty. Her attire changes to what appears to be a cartoonish exaggeration of a suit. The collar is incredibly thick, wide, and sticks up like you would expect a wizard's cloak or stereotypical detective's trench coat to. The tail of the suit is also exaggerated and trails down to mid thigh in a solid piece. Strangely enough, the suit and pants are one whole piece with a zipper on front like some sort of dapper onesie. Even the wedge heels are part of the onesie/suit. Underneath it all is a very standard and professional white button-down shirt but with an eye-catching mauve tie holding a starry night pattern.
Personality: The first thing one would notice about Susan is just how little an impression she makes. It's often hard to hear her with her quiet voice and mumbling and she'll often let herself be spoken over. Meek and mild, she mostly keeps to herself unless trying to be friendly. She has no problems interacting with people on equal levels of her and can be pleasant and caring as long as everyone is on the same level she is. Anyone too wild will see her as a wet blanket or a worrier. When there happens to be a power dynamic between who she's interacting is when she gets walked all over and bossed around.
There are rare situations when Susan shows herself to be incredibly stubborn and committed and that happens to be when a moral line of hers is crossed. This normally happens to be when a law is broken or a rule is completely ignored, but when there is no ambiguity to Susan that she is in the right and the other party is in the wrong she will become adamant and spiteful. This attitude can last a while too, while she may be quiet and seem weak-willed or even act kind to those she dislikes Susan can hold a grudge forever and will not hesitate to throw someone under the bus when she has an opportune moment. That being said, she isn't naturally spiteful and wants to like most people, it takes time to earn her ire and many bad interactions.
Susan is a planner and enjoys the structure she makes and finding efficient ways to do things. While seeming reserved she is often tucked away in her own head crunching numbers or comparing schedules and planning every little step of her day. She happens to be incredibly bright if appearing absent-minded, which can be easily seen upon asking her what she's doing or thinking about. She has a strong interest in books and is an avid reader, landing pretty far on the nerd side of the spectrum though she keeps this to herself most of the time.
The Potential
Strengths
—Strength Name: Professional Courtesy —Description: Some might use the words "repressed" or "vanilla" or "wet blanket", but Susan considers herself well-disciplined, polite, and composed in all circumstances. To a fault, really. Her obedient nature and adherence to structure rarely ever see her cutting loose or acting inappropriately enough so that it's ingrained into her psyche to be on her best behavior.
Charm and Rage have their success rates lowered by 15% against Susan.
—Strength Name: Magna Cum Laude —Description: To stay competitive in the business world you need to stay marketable, and the best way to do that is through higher learning and education opportunities. Susan Groves is an Ivy League graduate with a Master's degree in Economics with a Minor in Political Science, though her schooling has involved American and world history, higher mathematics, law, and Latin with limited exposure to the social sciences and liberal arts.
Susan's Intelligence Social Quality starts out at Rank 2.
—Strength Name: Career Woman —Description: As a high-strung workaholic Susan doesn't just work a job, she develops her future within enterprising companies. It's hard work but the pay is nice and Susan lives incredibly comfortably as a result, with no financial woes and multiple vacations a year.
At the beginning of each new Day if Susan had finished a Work Thread during the previous Day she accrues 500 VC.
—Strength Name: Productive Member of Society —Description: After a lifetime of education, smart decisions, and hard work, Susan has cut out a nice life for herself with no desperate wants or problems to face. She has access to various amenities and comforts that most other are not fortunate to have.
Susan lives in a good neighborhood with a low crime rate, drives a nice car, has enough money at any given point to reasonably afford basic creature comforts, owns a tablet for work, and gains other such benefits you would reasonably assume someone with a nice life would have.
This also may lead to preferential treatment from certain individuals such as the police or vendors since she is clearly a law-abiding citizen and a professional businesswoman.
—Strength Name: I'm the One in Control! —Description: During the struggle that occurs after withdrawal from Persona Overdose Seshat is still physically attached to Susan. While that means that Seshat can pull her around the opposite is true: Susan can pull back. In dire straights she can exert herself to guide a rogue attack from Seshat to somewhere more desirable.
Once per withdrawal from Persona Overdose Susan can choose the target of a skill she uses instead of rolling randomly. She makes this choice after rolling for her target. The skill is still rolled randomly like normal.
----- ((A floating Strength is a strength you've gained inRP. For example, if you were on a Kendo team for some time, you'd naturally know Kendo which is where this strength would come in. However, be aware, it will not be as strong as any of your actual strengths and is a small plus)
—Floating Strength Name: Basic Officer's Marksmanship —Description: When Susan Groves entered the Cadets she possessed no form of formal combat training. While most tend to gravitate toward swinging a weapon Susan learned how to shoot before anything else. Her accuracy with a firearm is comparable to your standard everyday police officer and she practices smart maneuvering as well as the fundamentals of shooting, she's more competent with a gun than your everyday untrained street thug.
When Susan is suffering from the Rage condition she will fire her Side-Arm at opponents before using her Soulbound as long as she has ammunition with which to do so. In PvP she will not rush recklessly toward an opponent who has inflicted Rage on her, instead engaging in fire and maneuver as she's been trained to do. She has enough presence of mind to take cover and attempt to flank or suppress a target and not step in front of attacks like an idiot, although as long as she's Enraged she will never run away from a fight and seek to do as much physical harm to the opponent who caused it.
Weaknesses
—Weakness Name: Not According to Plan —Description: While she may seem like an aloof and cold businesswoman Susan is incredibly easy to fluster. She works very poorly under pressure and isn't the best at coming up with ideas on the fly, only before or after the fact. It isn't difficult to get her to stutter and stammer at a loss for words when dealing with a situation she isn't accustomed to.
Panic and Fear have an extra 15% chance to succeed against Susan.
—Weakness Name: Walking Doormat —Description: Coming from rigid parents with a strict schedule on when she was allowed to do what with no room for lounging around, Susan learned very early on to do what you're told and everything will be easier. She is often talked over or ordered around since she has problems asserting herself or standing up for herself. In her career this is both a blessing and a curse, but in real life where the squeaky wheel gets the grease it's mostly to her detriment.
Whenever Susan would gain points for Courage she only gains half, her spineless attitude makes it more difficult for lessons in bravery to sink in.
—Weakness Name: Contractual Obligations —Description: If you want to earn money you have to work hard. Slackers don't get to eat at the end of the day, and if you're as chained to work as Susan then you make sure you never run out of work. This, of course, is only good advice in moderation as Susan often finds herself in over her head with too much on her plate but hammers away at it anyway.
If Susan does not finish a Work Thread for a day she loses 250 VC and accrues a debt of 250 VC. As long as she has a debt to pay the VC from her Career Woman Strength will go into the debt before she is able to earn any of it.
—Weakness Name: Adult Responsibilities —Description: With all the benefits of a well-off living come the responsibilities that need to be fulfilled. You need to go to work, go to meetings, attend work functions, pay your taxes, pay bills, take the car into the shop every so often, head to the grocer's, stay in shape, and all the un-fun parts of being an adult.
Depending on the situation Susan may find hardship in fulfilling supernatural obligations that others may be committed to. Sitting in on a meeting with other Persona Users might mean calling sick into work, charging through dungeons at night might mean Susan misses a networking opportunity, and certain social functions may just not be appropriate for a woman of Susan's position.
On the flip-side of Susan's Productive Member of Society Strength, certain other individuals may treat her with less favor. Thugs, degenerates, and hoodlums may not take kindly to "a suit" and she's an obvious target for thieves.
—Weakness Name: Rip Off the Bandage —Description: When Susan enters Persona Overdose Seshat will partially merge with her in a bid to consume her as Artificial Personas are wont to do. To free herself from Seshat's bindings Susan must struggle both physically and mentally, and the process leaves friction burns, paper cuts, bruises, and even pulled muscles in her violent fight to gain control of herself once more.
When Susan is suffering the negative effects after Persona Overdose she loses 10% of her total HP every turn. This damage can and will knock her unconscious if she isn't careful but it can't result in her death since her Persona won't willingly kill its host.
----- ((A floating weakness is one gained in RP. It could be a fear you inherited during RP, or an injury that hinders your character. Some can be temporary while others can be permanent.)
—Floating Weakness Name: Acute Stress Disorder —Description:Acute Stress Disorder is often a precursor to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and is incurred after an extremely traumatic event that is experienced or witnessed. The symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder are shown in Susan through the re-experience of traumatic events during The Masquerade Ball from certain stressors including clowns, uproarious laughter, lone gunshots, danger involving fire, classical ballrooms, and a significant amount of mirrors. Symptoms also include restless sleep or the inability to sleep at all, increased anxiety, and lowered self-worth. Disassociation with the events of The Masquerade Ball also occurs where Susan may falsely remember or forget details though not the event itself however this is connected to her personal traumas and not the chain of events. She remembers everything that factually happened however the details are muddled, how many enemies they fought, if innocents were killed or not, the behavior of herself or her teammates, or the sequence of a fight may be misrepresented.
When Susan suffers the Numb Ailment from the Psycho element it lasts for 3 turns instead of just 1.
Soul Bound Weapon
Weapon Name:Counting Reed Weapon Description: Susan's Counting Reed is actually a long crook with notches along one side. This crook is named after the counting reed that Seshat is commonly represented with in hieroglyphs as she marks the years. It is very plain looking if not incredibly old and appears to be made of ebony with a single golden ring running through the bottom of the crook, no doubt used for hanging it on a wall. While happening to be 60" long (or about 5 feet) the Counting Reed only weighs about two and a half pounds overall with even weight distribution. Susan wields it like a bo staff.
Weapon Image:
Weapon Attack Type: Strike Weapon Element: N/A
Side-Arm Weapon
Side-Arm Name: "My gun. No, it doesn't have a cool-sounding name, it's just a gun I have." Side-Arm Description: An FN P90 personal defense weapon. Weighing about five pounds and firing over 900 rounds per minute, this tiny weapon is a force to be reckoned with for its size. The extended vented barrel makes it a little over two feet in length, its only other special features being an open illuminated sight and three-point sling for easy carry and deployment. The rest of the gun is matte black and what you'd expect, however it seems to be wrapped in something akin to grip tape about anywhere someone would reasonably place their hands on it.
The FN P90 was designed for law enforcement and specifically the Secret Service for a portable automatic weapon that could compete with assault rifles. It fires a modified .22 caliber round specially built to pierce bulletproof vests and with a specially-fitted box magazine carrying 50 rounds it can shoot a whole bunch of them before needing to reload. The .22 caliber and low weight of the weapon make it easier for Susan to actually fire it safely and hit something with it. 50 rounds, you're bound to hit something, right?
Side-Arm Image:
Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun Side-Arm Style
Machine Gun - Muti-Round - Accuracy is decreased by 30%. Consumes 3 types of ammo at once to fire -must be same type of ammo.)
The Background
History: Susan Groves's parents always had high expectations of her. From a very early age she had shown herself to be highly intelligent, as she should be. Susan came from a line of great achievers, ones that made sure she recieved every advantage available to her. Listening to Mozart in the womb, infant sign language, brain training exercises before preschool, if you can name a method Susan was put through it. She was placed in advanced classes as early as they were available and continued to acheive, skipping a few grades in the process. On the surface this seemed all well and good save for an important detail:
Susan's parents were helicopter parents to the worst degree.
Her life was quickly structured much as any other "gifted" child's. Private tutors, private schools, flute lessons, volunteer opportunities, Girl Scouts, anything and everything that she could be enrolled in she was and her time was quickly monopolized. Susan was never given time to be a normal kid and this had a strong influence over the rest of her life. She became much more mature than her peers but never learned to fit in, she was always seen as the "weird smart girl" and had a difficult time making friends. Every rebellious bone in her body was crushed underneath an inferiority complex and a rigid structure and Susan quickly fell to being obedient and doing as she was told. It was for her benefit and the easiest way to get through life.
Susan enrolled in college on a full-ride scholarship from an elite honors society, Penn State to be exact, and began a long road of study on the way to her Master's degree. It was at this time that the Eternal Divide happened, interrupting Susan's progress and forcing her to transfer midway through her educational track. After her short educational haitus Susan used her glowing grades to begin her career as an economist and business analyst, where she quickly made waves as a "business savant", widely known for being a little bit off yet making bold and successful returns through inventive ideas. Susan was hired on to her last assignment, Salem Ltd., an umbrella company, at the age of 25 when she relocated herself and her parents to Endymion.

Generally speaking, the weakness you need to take to balance out social quality strengths like yours should either be a consistent decrease in the amount gained or the requirement that you need to level up twice to get to rank two in the social quality. With that in mind, I'd recommend changing the Walking Doormat weakness so that it just halves all Courage points gained overall. It seems like the simplest way of going about it and simultaneously makes it more relevant and less severe.
As for your Overdose weakness, make it a 10% health drain.
Other than those two issues the application looks great. Make that change and I'll give this my approval.
