| A soft light would flutter into the sleeping man's eyes as his mind slowly returned to him. The light would start weak but grow steadily in intensity until it became to much to bare. Almost on instinct his eyes would flutter open before clamping back shut as the intense pain in his mind overtook his senses. All at once a million different memories flooded back into the mans head, filling the empty void that was once the bliss of unconsciousness. The capital... A great tower... James, Alice, The Horsemen.... All of it crashed into him at once as a searing pain in the back of his neck threatened to snap what little sanity he had left. Yet through it all a single voice would ring out and seem to quiet the storm in his mind. "Oh, you're finally awake... And here I was about to turn you into biofuel... Now I'm a little disappointed..." The voice rang with a wisdom far beyond the youth inherent in it. Lucian's eyes, now ready for the light, would open to a hospital room, cluttered yet clean. He found himself laying in the bed with what looked to be a woman in her late twenties or early thirties by his guess. "Here... take this. It should kill some of that pain in your head" | |

| "Are my eyes fooling me, or did they just...?" "No, I saw it too..." "Ugh, this was the last thing we needed." "No, this is good. The black sheep led themselves into the pen..." ------------------------
Light.
Too much light, in fact. Lucian Clarke slowly awoke to the blinding light of what he assumed must’ve been the sun. As a forehand slowly rose to shield his eyes from the light, he could feel his senses returning to him. Aside from the burning sensation in the back of his head and the general lethargy he felt throughout his body, nothing seemed to be out of place; so why, then, was he in a hospital bed? It was then that everything came back to him quicker than he could even fathom… or at least, what he was conscious enough to record in his memory. Had he been injured and lost his memory? If he had, he doubted he would still find himself alive, considering the circumstances. Despite all his burning questions and worries about what happened and the giant structure that suddenly appeared, Lucian knew that sitting in bed wondering what might have happened wouldn’t get him anywhere; the best course of action would be to seek help from a hospital worker, and reunite with James and Alice from there. Someone like… "... Now I'm a little disappointed..." Lucian slowly turned his head expecting to be greeted by the sight of a nurse or doctor, only to find… a… witch? Had the damage to his head been more severe than he’d initially speculated? As far as he was aware it wasn’t Halloween or anything of the sort. “Where…” The president was interrupted by his own pain, prompting him to reach a hand behind his neck to rub the ailing area. “…where am I? Where is my family?” He inquired the supposed nurse, stepping over his own words in his desperate pursuit for answers. A syrup? Lucian wasn’t exactly a man who would normally accept random medicine from questionably dressed nurses, but… in his current situation, it wasn’t like he had much of an option; even moving was painful. Without much objection, Lucian shakily grabbed the spoon that was offered to him and quickly swallowed the contents, knowing from experience that tasting medicine never ended well for one’s tongue.

| Good, he seemed to be adjusting well. Now would be the time she went into exposition on what happened and the likes... But sensory overload wasn't exactly something she was aiming for. After all, he just woke up! What a shame it'd be if she fried his brain and all that was just and good in her scientific career went down the drain because she sent the man into a coma! Wait, was this the first time...? Hm... She'd need to ask Lucas if this was the first time he woke up or not.
"Hm... Where to begin... Oh, well, I'm not a medical doctor, so you know. Please refrain from calling me nurse or doctor. Professor will do if you need a name right now." she'd say with a small nod of her head, looking around the disgusting hospital room with a small sigh. She really detested messes... Goodness, whoever said this place was a good place to take him too deserved a punishment in her eyes. However, what's done is done...
"Ahem, well... To avoid giving you too much information at a time let me know what you want to hear. I'll give it you in tiny portions. You've been asleep for a while, my dear. I'd hate to put more strain on you than necessary." she'd comment with another nod of her head, a hand going to twist a strand of her hair idly as she tried to remember where the man's family was at. Did he mean those two? Hmm...
"Family? Oh, you mean the tiny girl and the tall man? Don't worry, they're safe and sound and have been taken care of. I made sure of it myself. They've been visiting you while you were asleep. It just so happened you woke up on my visit." she'd say with a small smile. Really, it was quite lucky it happened now. She had much to prepare for later! Him waking up at a later date could really put a wrench in her plans... Paper work was always such a bore to deal with. Too many numbers that just jumbled together.
"As for where you are... I think it'd be easiest to say you're in Junction. I'm assuming you saw the giant tower before stumbling here? Well... You're there now. In the slums, to be exact... If you couldn't tell, that is." she'd say with a small shake of her head at the interior of the hospital. Disgusting. Oof, was that a bug!? Oh, she'd burn this place to the ground if she knew about the gas lines that were just everywhere here. What a disgusting mess...
"So, are you following so far? I'll get to the twist in a minute... But, everything registering fine? While I'm not a medical doctor I am a mind one. So, let me know if you need me to repeat anything or be further in depth." she'd state with one final nod of her head. Everything seemed to be going well... Good. If he proved to handle this then he should be able to handle Junction as a whole... Maybe... They didn't exactly live somewhere normal.

| Lucian reflexively yet shortly shuddered as some of the medicine dripped onto his tongue, just what he was trying to avoid… at least it did feel like it had immediately taken some form of effect, as his pain – while not gone entirely – had reduced considerably upon swallowing it. More importantly, however, this woman wasn’t a trained medic? Then what was she doing tending to him? Had something happened that the hospital had become understaffed?
“Asleep? Visiting me?” She made it sound like he’d been in a coma. “I… I don’t understand, just how long have I been unconscious?” Lucian could appreciate the fact that this woman was at the very least trying to be as concrete and direct as possible, but intentions became meaningless when the end result was nothing short of counterproductive. “More importantly, why was I unconscious? Does it have to do with this… this burning on my neck?” Once again, Lucian’s hand would reach backwards in an attempt to rub the hurting patch of skin, only to find – after prodding the aching spot – that touching it only made the pain worse and was far from the best course of action. His hand would quickly recoil, and the man to whom it belonged would sharply inhale from the pain.
That’s right… the giant tower. On the final day on which he had his life guaranteed, Lucian’s luck had taken a complete full degree turn in the form of the arrival of this… inexplicable immense structure. Initially he’d figured that it was some sort of Horseman machination related to his “day of execution”, and that he stood a chance of living if he were to investigate it and meddle with it in time. Now though… he wasn’t quite so sure. It was possible that the Horsemen had captured him in his unconscious state and decided to interrogate him before killing him, thus explaining why he was on life support; yet if that was the case, then why would they have gone out of their way to offer him a painkiller? Furthermore, if he was in safe hands inside of this giant tower… Junction, as it were, then it would mean the Horsemen had no involvement with it. Was “Junction” a rebel scheme, then? Making a colossal tower appear from thin air and swallow up a large portion of Washington D.C. seemed more like a Horseman tier parlor trick than it did a rebel plan… “I should be dead, but instead I’m being granted life support. Are you with the rebels? I’m going to assume this “Junction” is a rebel-made phenomenon…” The Horsemen had made one grave mistake: anyone under their influence had an implanted unending hatred for Liber Gene carriers, one that not even the Horsemen themselves were capable of overwriting. It seemed like a good idea to them at first, but it later came back to bite them in the bottom once carriers managed to form rebellious groups. No matter how brainwashed, one without the gene wouldn’t be able to calmly state themselves to be a rebel.

| "Asleep? Hm... Forgive me, I have rather poor memory... I think it has been about a month. As for why you've been in a coma I'm not sure. I found you passed out in the Slums under some rubble. Heaven knows what strange object gave you that wound." she'd respond with a slight wave of her hand. Good, he seemed to be bouncing back extraordinarily well... The wound worried her, though... But it was out of her hands now, she had other pursuits to follow right now that didn't involve her comatose curiosity.
"Rebels? No, I'm a professor here on Junction. And as far as Junction goes... Think of it as a moving city except instead of moving on a single planet it moves to multiple different ones... Do you understand now?" she'd say with a small widening of her eyes. She was curious to see how he processed this twist. She always enjoyed seeing either the wonder or terror in one's eyes upon their arrival here. Regardless, she'd bend forward slightly, a slight glare in her eyes.
"Rebels though? Do explain..." the woman would say with a small lean back. She didn't want a criminal on her hands regardless of how terrible their ruler might have been. Much too messy and she didn't feel like bailing the man out should he find himself in prison. That officer was too much of a hassle.

| A whole month?! So he really had been comatose… yet, despite knowing this, his thirst for answers wasn’t satiated. The last thing he remembered was stepping into the premises of “Junction”, then passing out for reasons he couldn’t quite yet recall… what in God’s name had happened that he’d been rendered comatose and with an inexplicable burning wound? Furthermore, what had happened in between his fall into comatose state and now? He hoped James and Alice hadn’t worried too much about him… “An entire month…” Lucian mulled this fact over for a few seconds… “Could you tell me what’s happened? Since I was knocked unconscious, I mean.” It was all so sudden… “And if it’s not too much trouble, I’d like to see my family as soon as possible. I’m already a month too late.” He requested, knowing full well that a reunion was in order.
What followed next was neither of the two outcomes the professor was hoping for. He’d already found it bizarre as it stood that she had no reaction whatsoever to the mention of the rebels, as opposed to the either confession or ballistic rage that he’d known to be the only rational outcomes, but to be told he was in a planet-jumping city… as she explained the idea of Junction to Lucian, his face would begin to lose serenity and slowly shift into annoyance. “I appreciate the medical care, but right now I don’t have time or patience for practical jokes.” Honestly, how stupid did he really look? Who would even go out of their way to try to prank the president at a time as crucial as this? As far as he was aware, the breaking point of a war against a group of tyrants wasn’t the time to joke around.
Again with the indifference! Lucian wasn’t really sure how to proceed in this scenario, it just seemed so… well, it didn’t seem like anything, as it didn’t seem like a possibility at all. Either this woman had lost a fair bit of memory herself, or somehow the Horsemen had managed to overcome their one crippling mistake and erased the concept of the rebellion from the collective memory of the masses. The thought alone was terrifying… “Rebels? Liber Gene carriers? ‘The great divisors´? None of these names ring a bell?”

| "Hm... Nothing much, really. I made sure to put your family in a home in the middle ward. Aside from that, we've jumped precisely twice to different worlds since we landed on yours. Hm?" she would have continued mulling over mundane happenings that occurred over the month, but a woman clad in white would peak her head through. It would have been a normal if the woman wasn't a mass of black string like hairs with giant white eyes for a head. Quite the strange site, to say the least.
"Well, it appears as if your family has arrived. Before I discharge you, though, allow me to run a quick diagnostic on your body. Nothing too invasive, I promise. But I want to make sure you're capable of standing and walking without too much effort. Now, sit up for me slowly. Let me know if you need my support." she'd instruct with a small wave of her hand, with a light glance at the man she'd smirk gently. Oh, what a foolish thought he had. It'd be a pain to have him adjust to the anomalies of Junction.
"Well I know what a rebel is... Liber Gene? Do explain, sounds very interesting... And great divisors? Doesn't ring a bell, honestly. I can't say I paid much attention to your world... Much too loud for my taste." she'd say with a small nod, leaning back in her seat as she looked around the room another time. That... That was definitely a roaticher... Oh this place was filthier than the word itself.
"You sure have been asking a lot of... Questions I don't really have good answers for. Would you like to ask me anything else? Should I lay down a list before I discharge you? I really don't mind you thinking Junction is a joke... You'll find out how strange it is once you exit this hospital." she'd say with a small nod of her head. She didn't exactly understand the city when she first came here and now it seemed with every new jump something wild and crazy was happening. She just couldn't deal with all the fads that burst out of the blue with the literal billions of different races that called this place home.

| So, she had no intention of dropping the joke? Lucian wasn't usually one to stand in the way of humor, whether it be practical or traditional, but there was a time and a place for everything. "I already told you, I don't have time fo-ooooAGH!"What the hell was that thing?! Lucian had long since lost a great deal – though not the entirety – of his faith in religion, but if he had been a more religious man he would’ve begun to pray right about then. He didn’t even have time to process what he’d been looking at before the… the abomination went back the way it came from. It’s movements though; they were too fluid and natural for it to have been any sort of animatronic or disguise. Just what the hell was that?! He’d seen some very unusual things as the president of the world’s most influential nation, but that… thing took the cake and swallowed it whole! Left in too large a state of shock to properly answer the woman's question about the Liber Gene or to confront the woman about how he still believed she was speaking nonsense, Lucian simply nodded – the look of genuine disbelief still present on his face – to agree to the diagnostic. At least the conversation had shifted back to medical talk; besides, anything to see James and Alice sooner. There were too many questions he had to make and not a large enough timespan between words to answer them all; the only way he would find himself even with the current state of affairs would be to receive an explanation from somebody he trusted and knew, someone who might’ve experienced the same level of disbelief and confusion he was currently experiencing. “No… no questions, just let me see them. I’ll trust their word and their word alone.” | |

| She'd laugh gently at his shock. Oh, that nurse did have a way of frightening her patients. But she supposed it was only fitting for one of her own kind. With a small nod of her head, she'd stand up and walk over to a small box covered in a thin layer of dust. She'd pick it up with a mutter of disgust before bringing it to the chair she had sat upon a moment ago.
"These are the personal effects I found you in. It might do well to change into more appropriate attire." she'd nod gently before walking towards the door. She'd hesitate before placing her hand on the door knob, turning to look at the man for a last moment. She'd smile at him, holding a hand to wave at him.
"It was nice to finally talk to you. Do be careful now, I would hate to hear from Lucas that you found yourself back here again. Goodbye my dear." she'd say with a small wave of her hand, a gentle smile crossing her face before she exited the room. It was back to normal work now and time to get back into the swing of things. With one final word from her before the door closed "I'll tell your family to come in.", she'd leave from the hospital.
