Appearance: A young French dandy in her primest age, Julie stands at around 163 centimeters of height (5'4ft) and weighing around 55 kilograms (121 pounds), Julie boasts of a youthful mildly androgynous yet feminine figure that's deeply seated in her French heritage. With a mane of curly brown hair that's cut to the bottom of her neck, calming sea blue eyes and sharp toned facial features, it wouldn't be hard to mistake Julie for an especially feminine young man, though she doesn't attempt to hide her gender in the slightest.
Dressed like an old-fashioned dandy, she wears stylish noble clothing comprised of a form-fitting blue vest with golden trimmings over a white regal shirt with inflated shoulders and puffed sleeves boasting indigo patterns on its edges. Tight white pants are her choice of legwear, adorned with a gold-trimmed indigo emblem on the sides of each thigh and leading down into bellend knee-high black boots with a 2-inch heel artificially boosting her height. Atop her head she wears a large fancy musketeer's hat with an especially large pail and gold trimming at its front as well as a fluffed top and three white feathers.
As for accessories, Julie views style and practicality as a balance, so despite being light on adornments she manages to make the most of her gaudy outfit. A thin red scarf marked by a full blooming rose rests around her neck and a woven brown-dyed silken rope hangs around her right shoulder.
Personality: A true dandy at heart, she lives life by appreciating the beauty in the world and its people but speaks like a royal that's above the commoners while doing so. Though approachable, a narcissist, believing herself the most just in the world according to her personal code and accolades. Having had her run-ins with a demon and blessed by the power of an Angel, Julie believes herself as blessed by the Lord as a reward for her unending love for humanity. Ultimately, she might be someone normal people would despise; knowing nothing of poverty or need and accepted by the nobility from birth while doing all she pleased in life, Julie nevertheless pretends (or moreso genuinely believes) to identify with the general populace and reassures them from her high horse while not lowering herself to their standard.
Markedly, Julie's personality is engrained in passion and whims, following the road of her own choosing regardless of consequence or public perception. Ultimately a person who loves man and woman alike caring only for their intrinsic beauty and sense of justice. Like many dandies of her time, self-indulgent in the pleasures of the body, the soul and the nobility, using her own ascertained privilege as a key for any door she would care to enter; forcefully or not.
Prideful to a fault and a duelist first, Julie holds her value as a noble and swordswoman in high regard and would immediately challenge anyone who belittles said values. Not quite a thinker, but a feeler, relying on instinct alone for the purpose of living life to its fullest while selfishly indulging in any joy desired.

The Potential
|
Strengths:
—Strength Name: Imperial Privilege —Description: As a noble, an actress and of course a lover, Julie boasts of a charisma and draw many could never hope to achieve. Her words inspire courage, her presence inspires admiration and her looks inspire oggling? In the battlefield, the very figure of a gallant knight clad in shining robes and ready to assist her fellows and inferiors; that is the aura Julie exudes. During Dungeon Traversal, allies require only 200 words per post to move the full distance if Julie is in the party.
—Strength Name: Duelist's Instinct —Description: A sort of sixth sense honed through a lifetime of training and fighting, Julie gains this ability from her disposition and natural skills attained after countless victories in duels. She can sense an enemy's intentions and mannerisms, provided they are predictable enough, and respond accordingly. Her dodge chance for any incoming attack is set to one number higher than it would originally be. This is nullified if the enemy has 10 more Luck than Julie does. In PvP, this acts as a slight increase to reaction time.
—Strength Name: Dual Fencing Swordsmanship —Description: A traditional and seldom-practiced form of fencing, Julie's Demon Weapon allows her to wield one rapier in each hand and still attack effectively. Being skilled in this art as taught by her tutor, Julie has no trouble using both halves of her Demon Weapon at once in combat. Due to this, Skills that have multiple hits have a set base miss chance of 20% as opposed to their usual 30%.
—Strength Name: White Knight's Charisma —Description: Approachable and kind, though envied nonetheless, Julie is able to easily communicate and earn the trust of most people through her sheer disposition and presence. A natural shoulder to cry on, if you would, her appearance exudes an aura of security that allows those she interacts with to feel safer around her. This is due to her own truthful feelings and not any kind of manipulation, however; if she genuinely feels contempt or distaste for a person, this strength does not activate.
—Strength Name: Love To The People —Description: Julie is someone who can love humanity unconditionally for their intrinsic beauty. She will assist those she can and console those she can't, for that is her nature as a person. Healing skills are 15% more effective.
-----
—Racial Strength Name: Glyphs —Description: Julie's Side-Arm, if you can call it that, is but an extension of her Angel Weapon and acts according to its own rules. The Side-Arm itself is more utility-based, being able to consume ammunition not to deal damage, but instead create various effects that may be used in dynamic combat or even simple dungeon traversal based on the type of ammunition currently loaded into the Angel Weapon. Regular bullets are able to create Glyphs that give a short and sudden boost forward from wherever they're placed, acting similarly to a Shadow Accel in that they allow for quick reactionary movement. The intensity of the push is based on the Tier of the bullet used, with Tier 1 giving a fairly short boost (up to 5 meters), Tier 2 giving a moderate boost (up to 10 meters) and Tier 3 giving a sizable boost (up to 15 meters). Elemental ammunition works differently from regular ammo and can instead be used for puzzles and specific steps of exploration. Fire ammo generates intense heat that can melt ice easily but can't actually harm anyone; Ice ammo may be used to freeze water to create brief ice passages through a lake, for example; Wind ammo can be used to generate gusts of wind and all that said wind entails; Electricity ammo can be used to generate power to kickstart a machine; Earth ammo could quickly generate rock platforms for easier traversal; Light ammo, naturally, generates light akin to a torch and Darkness ammo snuffs out light and can be used for stealth. Obviously, all of these consume ammunition and cannot be used without the appropriate element. These glyphs can only be placed at most 15 feet away from Julie at any time.
Weaknesses:
—Weakness Name: Vain Dandy —Description: A hopeless romantic, Julie cannot help being attracted to pretty faces and well-developed bodies. She is a woman who lives for passion and passion alone and it's on this that the basis of her personal code is formed. This doesn't exactly help her keep her focus too much in public, however.
—Weakness Name: Imperial Aura —Description: Though she is someone who is quite approachable to anyone, those who are worst off in life may notice that her attempts at relating to them are often badly founded and completely off the mark. She is incapable of relating to someone in poverty because as a noble she has lived a life indulging herself in whatever she wished. Though her sense of justice and willingness to help is true enough, her ability to personally understand the hardships of others worse off than her is severely stunted.
—Weakness Name: Demonic Magecraft —Description: Being raised a Christian and blessed by The Lord with her own divine companion, Julie finds herself being highly affected by magic that's aligned with the powers of darkness. Dark Magic is 15% more effective on her (either by damage or instant kill percentage).
—Weakness Name: Prideful —Description: As someone who puts great stock in her personal worth, any disrespect towards it will be met with a swift challenge for a noble duel. Julie isn't someone who can keep a level head while being insulted or challenged, and it's quite easy to rile her up just by mocking her skills or status. She's 15% more likely to be hit with the Rage Ailment.
—Weakness Name: Bleeding Heart —Description: For Julie, those she protects, serves and loves are her whole world, and she couldn't stand to see them get hurt. This extends to her teammates as well, for they are her comrades-in-arms and are deserving of just as much of her love as anyone else. Whenever an ally is KOed, Julie receives a 15% debuff to her skills' effectiveness for either three turns or until said ally is revived, whichever comes later.
-----
—Racial Weakness Name: Glyphs 2 —Description: Due to the nature of her Side-Arm and how it works, Julie does not actually possess a damaging side-arm. Her own Glyphs function akin to a custom weapon instead of any predetermined type and cost 2 ammo per usage as opposed to 1. In addition, the moves cannot be used to deal damage to someone's soul and any real damage they would be able to do would be minimal as if they're a physical thing would immediately shatter upon contact with a person.
Shadow/Demon Weapon:
Weapon Name: Saint Genesia Weapon Description: A pair of ornate 104 centimeter-long rapiers with stainless silver blades and gold-plated hilts complete with handguards. The actual hilt of the blade is topped off with tanned brown leather and is completely ergonomic. Each handguard is decorated with ornamental golden leaves as well as a sculpted ruby in the shape of a rose. Aside from the blades, the hilt extends for around 30 centimeters, which makes the actual blades' total length around 74 centimeters. The rapiers each have their own separate white sheath with gold trimmings and share the Angel's consciousness between them. Weapon Image: See FC. Weapon Attack Type: Pierce

The Background
|
History: Julie was born in 1673 to Gaston d'Aubigny, a secretary to Louis de Lorraine-Guise, comte d'Armagnac, the Master of the Horse for King Louis XIV. Her early life was marked by the traditional noble upbringing: court meetings, ball dances, fencing training, as well as formal education in the form of reading and drawing. During her childhood, Julie also learned how to dance, in case the ballroom hadn't seen enough action. When she turned 14, she was married off as a mistress to her father's sire, Count d'Armagnac, who then officially had her married to one Sieur du Maupin of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Though, it's not as if she and her husband spent much time together, as when he departed for his new owned lands in Southern France, Julie remained in Paris.
Around 1687, Madame de Maupin became involved with an assistant fencing master named Sérannes. When Lieutenant-General of Police Gabriel Nicolas de la Reynie tried to apprehend Sérannes for killing a man in an illegal duel, the pair fled the city to Marseille. On the road south, Madame de Maupin and Sérannes made a living by giving fencing exhibitions and singing in taverns and at local fairs. While travelling and performing in these impromptu shows, Julie dressed in male clothing but did not conceal her gender. On arrival in Marseille, she joined the opera company run by Pierre Gaultier, singing under her maiden name.
After around a year or so, she grew bored of Sérannes and became involved with a young woman. When the girl's parents put her away in the Visitandines convent in Avignon, Maupin followed, entering the convent as a postulant. However, this covenant would be Julie's first look into a side of the world she had never been made privy to before. For the entirety of her life up until this point, Julie believed that the world was utterly normal, with nothing supernatural to display as is the intrinsic thought of most people.
When Julie was 15, she discovered the truth to the Church's power, as their communing with Angels brought them great power in the form of magic which they believed was God's own will. Due to this magecraft being bestowed unto them by The Lord's grace and not some natural affinity, the covenant as well as the Vatican were of the belief that this could not brand them as witches for they had the mark of God upon their bodies. This particular covenant wouldn't be the most fortunate, however, as the holy rituals to inscribe an Angel's blessing onto someone would be disturbed by a very real demonic presence. Julie was simply a postulant at the time and not legitimately a nun, she was not meant to participate in the ritual and simply assist with its preparation, as her lover was the one intended to be initiated as a proper nun. As fate had other plans for this covenant, so did God have other plans for Julie.
Though the demonic presence threatened to manifest completely in this world, the skies parted to shine the Sun's light on Julie as the ritual had nearly completed. With the nuns having escaped, the petrified girl stood in the Light of God as a Saint descended towards her... or so she visioned. This Saint's body morphed and shifted into the pair of blades that rested on her hands, and with this female Saint's guidance, she was capable of using her newfound powers to draw a Holy Cross in the middle of the room and stop the demon's ascension before it was capable of fully manifesting, though not before it caused heavy destruction to the covenant itself. Deciding this was the perfect time to escape, Julie absconded with her lover after placing a nun who happened to be killed in the event inside her lover's bed and then setting fire to the room.
Unable to witness her initiation, the nuns were quick to persecute Julie after her escape from the covenant and sentenced her to death by fire for her crimes and desecration of a corpse as well as destruction of property, though Julie knew they suspected her of witchcraft from surviving a demonic assault. Though her lover returned to her family after three months together, the noble continued in her travels throughout France guided by her Angelic Weapon.
Now with her eyes opened to the supernatural, Julie was quick to meet figures that guided her through the arts of Magecraft and the world of the Unconscious. Near Politiers, her first teacher was Maréchal, who trained her to hone her skills and make use of her abilities in the name of the Lord, until a year later when he was possessed by a demon in a moment of alcoholic-induced weakness and had to be personally struck down by Julie. Grief-stricken but resolute, Julie once again left for Paris, though her travels weren't exactly over.
In Villeperdue, still wearing men's clothing, she was insulted by a young nobleman. They fought a duel and she drove her blade through his shoulder. The next day, she asked about his health and found out he was Louis-Joseph d'Albert Luynes, son of the Duke of Luynes and personally ordained Executor by the Vatican. Astounded by her skill in combat and possession of a Saintly Weapon, Louis-Joseph agreed to vouch for her pardon in the eyes of the Vatican and under the Church's influence she was pardoned by the King of France. Louis and Julie would soon become brief lovers, but remained lifelong friends and partners while working for the Church.
Though Julie took up a personal job as an Opera Singer under the alias of Mademoiselle de Maupin, or La Maupin, her real work consisted of accepting missions from the Vatican in order to slay demons and encarcerate heretics for later conversion. She worked as a devout Catholic for the remainder of her short life and resolutely believed in and was admired for her personal mantra of loving humanity like one may love their own blood. She worked for the Vatican for three years before Junction's arrival in her world. Though she was sent to investigate the sudden appearance of a strange phenomena alongside Louis, Julie remained in the city upon its departure, unaware of it until it had already left her own reality.
//"Ah, my world you say? Oh, how could I forget. My world, I was told, is what the Church calls 'an Earth stuck in the Age of Mystery'. Intéressant, ne pensez-vous pas? A world where the Age of Mystery never ended, where magecraft developed alongside technology and demons and angels never abdicated their grasp on humanity. Naturally, the commonfolk aren't aware of this reality as we in the Church work tirelessly to prevent everyone from being involved in the mysteries of the world, but our work isn't limited to just that. Just like we are blessed with the Lord's power by his subjects, so too does the Morning Star employ his own Demonic servants to make pacts with humans --by force if necessary. Our job is to eradicate these demons and bring peace to our world. For that reason we have magi in the employment of the Church, considered as blessed by the Lord due to giving us our assistance. Those who seek to slander the Lord's name with their magecraft are branded as witches and sorcerers and condemned to the flames while hung on a stake. I was once considered one too, but my partner helped me clear my name. Je serai toujours reconnaissant, ma Saintesse..."//
//"So that, my friend, is what we call Mystery Earth. A world of magecraft and devotion where religion goes hand in hand with magic and fantasy. Without the Lord's power, we wouldn't be where we stand, however. I wholeheartedly believe that these powers are His blessing unto us, so that we may put the ones who threaten this world to rest once and for all. Deus lo vult."//
