The Cowlick (Frog)

Zaku was currently sitting alone during lunch, a nice secluded spot to eat her lunch, and best of all few people ever found the place, and it was a great looking place to eat lunch, "This is a great place to eat, Zaku is surprised no one else comes here, but she is glad that it is here, it means Zaku has a nice place to eat and doesn't have to worry about people trying to force her out of the way. Zaku" she said as she took a happy little bite out of her sammich, a well made three layered bento box sitting in front of her with all her food in it, the sammich was just something she packed on a whim but she liked it.

What she didn't realize is that most people were avoiding the location because her cowlick was wagging happily above her head and most people thought it was a large snake due to distance, and the way it was moving about, but had they come around to see they would see the tiny girl sitting their with her cowlick wagging happily in quite an adorable sight if one was inclined to such musings.

Noticing strangeness in the ocean of mediocrity was sometimes a very difficult thing to do. On one side, the mediocrity suffocated any abberations that stemmed from it, pulling its roots out like they were common weeds. On the other, however, it was quite easy to spot if you knew what you were looking for. Frog knew what he was looking for and looking at when he saw the outline of a dancing strand like a blade of grass placed before a sundown at the roof of the school. He immediately recognized the cowlick and the horrors of his past meeting with Zaku ran chills down his spine.
Slowly and carefully, with his own food in tow, he approached her.

"Hello, Mr. Cowlick. Or are you Mrs. Cowlick? Either way, mind if I sit? Thanks." He bobbed his head to the side and grinned, standing next to Zaku and looking down at her cowlick. He proceeded to sit down next to her and look into the distance. "I still don't get that thing on your head, though. It's scary. I've been hearing people talk about it, weirded out. But I couldn't catch it on camera. What's its deal?" Frog took his own sandwich out and took a bite out of it. A boring tasting bite.

Zaku sat there finishing off her sammich as her cowlick wagged happily, a smile on her face as she then opened her bento to get at the rest of her lunch, but it was about that time when she heard a voice greeting her and she meeped, her cowlick standing stock upright as she looked up and seen it was the frog boy, she sat there looking a bit frozen as he talked to her and even sat down near her, elicting another Meep from her as she hid behind the lid of her bento box still looking at him.

Her cowlick on the other hand had carefully moved over to Frog and was making motions as it if was sniffing him, before seemingly being satisfied that he was who he said he was and seemingly nodded before returning to a rest position on top of Zaku's head.

"Umm..h..h.h.h.hh..hello..um...z...Zaku's..n..name is Zaku remember? Zaku?" she said in answer to his first question, and as he started talking again her head tilted to the side a bit a look of slight confusion on her face before she looked up at her cowlick, which was acting like hair at the moment, she then looked back at him once more and the cowlick started to bob about once again. "What do you mean Zaku?" she asked as she looked at him

Frog was kinda put off by the way she hid behind the box. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow and opened his sandwich-filled mouth to say something, only to be taken aback by the cowlick sniffing him like it was a dog or something. Instinctively, he stood still as it sniffed him. Whenever his own dog sniffed him he felt good. This wasn't that different, honestly. He even felt kinda good about himself that something was showing interest in him. Something non-human and hopefully non-demonic either.

"Yeah I remember you, Zaku." He smiled at her. She seemed to be removing her barrier bit by bit. He felt proud of inciting such a reaction. He gave the cowlick a sheepish look before shrugging. "Since it apparently won't cooperate with me to show you what it's doing, I'll just stop trying." Frog announced and gave a short chuckle. Maybe it'd be easier to just live with it rather than try to prove...or disprove it. Honestly he'd miss the cowlick. "Hey anyways, I heard from the guys at the fencing club you're apparently amazing with a blade, right? So I've decided to maybe try fencing. Have any advice?"

Zaku looked at him over the lid of the box as her cowlick seemed to confirm he was okay, though Zaku didn't seem to notice it as she lowered the box at almost the same moment the cowlick deemed him safe, "Oh..t..thank you..m..most p..people d..don't R..remember Zaku...Zaku" she said as she sat there and started to eat her lunch a bit, honestly she didn't have a lot of friends, face to face anyway, though when he mentioned stopping trying something she looked at him with a puzzled expression on her face "Huh? what do you mean Zaku?". She asked looking at him a bit confused.

Then he mentioned the fencing club and she blushed a deep red, "O..oh..y..you heard about that....Zaku" she said blushing deeper as she looked down at her food, someone was actually asking HER for advice? she really didn't know how to take this...she wasn't used to this, hell she wasn't used to a guy walking over and sitting next to her let alone talking to her, most of the time she eneded up building up SOME amount of courage, but this time he came right over to her...how did he even find her in the first place?

Back to the matter at hand she shook her head to try to get the blush off...not that it worked of course, but she looked back up at him shyly "Umm..w...well..i..if you wanted...z..Zaku could....could give you..e..extra..c...classes at...at. her Dojo...b..but..i..if not...umm...sh..she would need to get the ..e..equipment..t..to see h..how g..good y..you are...Zaku" she said as she looked back down at her bento box and popped some of the rice into her mouth.

Frog raised an eyebrow. It was beyond him how anyone could forget an incommonality such as Zaku and her weird cowlick. Not only that but the way she talked, albeit shy and reserved, was still well recognizable, if from anything then from her 'Zaku' tick. He'd given up trying to explain her hair to her, since she apparently was never gonna get it. Looking over at the cowlick, he shot it a questionable glance from beneath a furrowed brow, as if asking it why it didn't want Zaku to know about it. "People actually manage to forget you? Well that's something I don't really get. You're like...really easy to remember. Not like the other people, you know." He sighed and placed his head into his hands.

"Yes, I've he- hey, are you okay?" Frog noticed Zaku's face turning a violently dangerous hue as he asked her the question. He blinked once or twice, not sure what to do, when she spoke up again, only this time an intelligible broken record kind of talk. "H-hey Zaku, slow down a bit, won'tcha?" He raised his hands. "It's okay, really. You mention a dojo? Oh wow, so it's no wonder you're good at fencing. I might just come visit you there, then. I assume it's in Little Tokyo, eh?"

Zaku listened to him as he spoke and she started to blush even more as he said it was easy for him to remember her, and she looked away as she blushed trying to hide her face now as she fidgeted on the spot trying to figure out if she should get up and run for it and hide out of embarrassment, or sit there and try to talk even though it felt like there was a swarm of butterflies in her tummy at the moment.

Though her thoughts were interrupted when he asked if she was okay and she let out a little Meep as she jumped a bit and looked back at him, her cowlick looking confused on what it should do, panic or wag so it was just doing a little dance that seemed to be the mix of the two. "Umm..z..zk..z...Zaku..i..is okay...Zaku" she stammered out as she sat there trying to calm herself down as she took another mouthful of food to hopefully distract her.

She started to calm down thankfully and it seemed Frog wasn't weirded out at all by all of it, more he was concerned, and that made her blush again at the thought that he was concerned for her, which lead to her hiding her face once more. Though as she moved to do just that Frog mentioned visiting her Dojo and she froze a moment looking up at him with wide eyes "Umm..n..no Zaku's D...dojo is..in the Backlight district...at the very edge of it...t..there was...well..it..ti's where her Dojo is...Zaku" she said looking surprised that he was planing a visit.

Zaku's behaviour was scaring Frog just as much as it was worrying him. "Aa-a...if you say you're ok, then okiedokie! You're ok! ...w-what's happenin'?" He waved his hands in front of himself with a sheepish expression that would easily have told Zaku that he had no clue what he was doing. Except he found himself looking at the Cowlick for a sign of help. However, the Cowlick's behaviour wasn't helping either. Thankfully, Zaku calmed down soon after and Frog calmed down with her. At least on the outside. On the inside, he was still confused as all heck.

She was still blushing. Like, constantly. He wondered if he ever looked like that...maybe, but for all the different reasons than this girl. This girl was just so painfully shy and, while he was shy too, he hoped he'd never reached this particular level of shyness. "Oh, I see, so it's in the Backlight. Great, then I'll have less trouble findin' it! I'm more at home there than at Lil' Tokyo, I guess. I guess I never really stray to Little Tokyo. So wait, is that Dojo like, your family's dojo?" He asked curiously, immediately regretting touching upon such a possibly sensitive topic with such a shy girl like Zaku.

Zaku managed to finally calm down...at least a bit, and she looked at Frog as he asked her about the Dojo, she shook her head though as she popped a bit more food into her mouth and finishing it to giver herself time to think and calm down a bit more as she looked abck at him and blushed a bit again but not the same as before. "Umm...n..no Zaku bought it after her Sensei passed away, her family owned the old Dojo, and her grandson said the only way Zaku could continue to Train there was if I m..m..mm...married him..." she said blushing a bit at the sheer mention of the situation.

"Zaku challenged him...and won, but he banished Zaku from the Dojo...So Zaku couldn't buy one in the Tokyo district, which is why she bought the old place in the backlight, It took her time to get it ready but now Zaku has her own Dojo.." she said as she looked back at her food, remembering having to leave was still hard to bring up, but she felt she at least needed to answer the question honestly.

Frog blinked. So wait...this young girl bought her own dojo after beating her late sensei's grandson in a duel over marriage who then banished her anyways? So did she live alone or what? And why was marriage involved? Huh, well, Frog could keep dwelling on these questions...or he could just smirk awkwardly in an attempt to alleviate the tension produced by the beckoning question and answers. "So, uhm...you lead a while dojo by yourself..?" He asked in disbelief. Honestly, if he'd not held himself back, he would've asked the question in sheer and absolute shock rather than simple disbelief, but he wanted to be courteous to Zaku and her Cowlick, and so he decided to play it nice.

"Well that's great, it means I can just come there, right? You wouldn't mind?" He added, placing his half-eaten sandwich on the side. He really didn't feel like eating anything right now.

Zaku looked at Frog as she finished and she popped a bit more food into her mouth her cowlick gently wagging as she was actually enjoying spending time with someone, and at the same time, she looked more on the positive aspects of things at the moment, she had her own Dojo now, and she could train people properly, not the way that her Sensei's grandson had wanted to train people which she knew ever her old departed sensei wouldn't have liked. so at least the traditional method of teaching was still going to be passed down.

Then came Frogs question and she nodded as she had a bit of well cooked beef in her mouth and she was chewing on it, but she finished it and answered properly after a moment, "Y..yes...Zaku does, she is the sensei there, a...and she gives classes..Zaku" she said looking a bit sheepish now as she popped a bit more of her meal into her mouth. quite enjoying having someone to talk to over a meal now for once, despite the fact that she felt shy around anyone really.

Then Frog mentioned coming down to her Dojo and she meeped a bit and nearly dropped her chopsticks, after fumbling a bit for them she managed to catch them and get a firm hold on them "Umm..y...yeah Zaku doesn't mind, s..she can give you a c..class..l..later today i..if you don't mind? Zaku?" she said as she looked at him and noticed he wasn't eating his sandwich and she pointed at it "Y...you should eat...i...if your coming down to Zaku's D..Dojo y..you will need the energy. Zaku" she said as she looked to the sandwich a moment "O..or do..y..you not like it? Zaku?".

Oh uhm, well that was very prophetic. What kinds of trainings has she planned that would absolutely require every last ounce of energy he could provide? Suddenly, a knot formed in his throat as he gulped it down, sweating a bit. "Ahaha...wait, what training do ya have in mind..? Something super exhausting or..?" Like, he could easily imagine what kind of a tyrant this little girl probably was in the dojo, taking on the role of a sensei. If she could so easily wreak havoc in the fencing club, then she was probably a highly trained professional, despite her meekness. She probably went through some Kill Bill kinda shit or something. Well shucks.

"I...are you free tomorrow maybe? I'm kinda busy tonight so I wanna get home not feeling..." ...like a beaten up mop. "...so tired from training and whatnot." He shrugged and put on an apologetic face. He also had plans that afternoon so coming to train was a no-no right now. "Like, I'm sorry and all, but I really can't make it today..."

Zaku looked up at him as he asked his question, the first one anyway "Well..All training is hard...if you are not used to it Zaku" she said to answer his question, calming down now that she was talking about something she knew a lot about, though it didn't last long as Frog started asking if he could come down the next day instead and Zaku thought about it, she didn't really have anything planned for tomorrow, so she could get the Dojo ready for a class if indeed that was what he wanted. Really the only thing she planned to do today was try to hand out fliers for her Dojo.

Looking back at Frog she nodded a bit "Zaku should be free tomorrow...s..she doesn't have many plans...so..it should be okay...j..just make sure to..have a prop...proper meal okay? Zaku?" she said, sure she had the facilities to feed her students at the Dojo, but it was always better to eat before the classes, granted she planned to make something for after as well, once she started to get more students anyway.

"Oh, sure, great, thanks." Frog bombarded her with the four words. So he was gonna come there tomorrow. Great. Means he can go do whatever he wants for the PTs tonight and not worry about this training session or whatever. "Give me the address and I'll be there." He added, still glancing at the Cowlick every now and then as he waited for Zaku to give him the place. He didn't wanna bother looking for it without any leads save for it being in the Backlight. Sure he could do it 'cause he was the best, but he just didn't want to, yes.

Zaku nodded when he thanked her for not minding putting the session to tomorrow, and she went back to eating, popping a bit more food into her mouth and smiling a little, and blushing a bit as well, She actually managed to talk to a guy, a guy that actually came to talk to her! knowing she was there apparently. She didn't know what to think of the situation, though it fit a lot of stuff she had seen in Anime and Manga and that usually lead to...

She blushed even deeper once more and she started to shake her head rapidly to get that thought out of her head "No stop it, life isn't like Manga or Anime...Besides he wouldn't think that way About Zaku..Zaku" she thought to herself as she sat there and gave Frog a shy sidelong glance.

The cowlick however was as honest as ever as it leaned over and basically nuzzled Frog, Without Zaku even noticing what it was doing, apparently as oblivious as always about it's actions, though when it did nuzzle Frog the blush on Zaku's face grew even more before he seemed to snap her out of it when he asked for the address and she seemed to jump a bit, the Cowlick moving away as if trying to pretend it hadn't done that.

"OH r...ri..ri...right t..the Address..umm..h...here Zaku" she said as she took out a pen and paper and wrote down the address to her Dojo, honestly it was easy to find but she understood him wanting to have the address as she finished writing it down she handed it to him still blushing brightly, "Zaku is giving her address to a boy...no no stop thinking like that, it's the address to her Dojo not her home!....b..but sometimes Zaku s...stays there...s..so it's like her second home isn't it? D..does this mean Z..zaku is inviting him to her second home without anyone noticing? NO no it's not like that we have student over all the time and we advertise the location, it's a business Zaku" she continued to have a little fight with herself in her mind but her blush was only getting deeper as her hand shook as she held out the paper with the address on it for Frog to take.
