Shift [Afternoon - Frog x Telly]

Finally, a bit of a breather after a long day of doing stuff. Like, Frog had done so much stuff today that he was barely standing and walking home, but the need for a place to rest was strong in him, and it pushed him beyond possible limits towards his goal-his house.

The sun was already setting and the sky was tinted a beautiful orange, an oracle to the night to come. A night that brought change with it. Irreversible change, or perhaps not so much. Still, Frog could feel it in his bones-something had changed from the day before. What it was he didn't know, but he was feeling sort of somber over it...like he'd lost something.

He kept walking towards his house. However he was feeling, he wasn't going to back down. No, he was too prideful to stop so soon. And so he pressed on. On the rather barren streets, he'd be easy to spot and identify.

Takeru, today, was heading back home. He was hungry for dinner, and looked forward to it.
The sunset was beautiful today.
Even after the divide, some things like that didn't change.
It was nice to have a little bit of consistency after all.
Then he saw Frog, and decided to talk to him.
"Hey Frog! How are ya?" he said as he walked up to Frog.

Frog wasn't expecting anyone to just come up to talk to him, even though he seriously should have considering how these last days went. He first ignored it for a moment, but then he recognized the voice, though, it was the Doctor Who kid from the subway. Aka the Lego kid from the Academy.

Frog stepped away, taken aback by the arrival.

"Oh, hai there, Takeru, right?" He gave a half-assed grin, scratching the back of his head. "I'm good, same old, same old... Since there's nothing new with me, maybe I should be the one asking you what's up, amirite?"

Huh? Why did Frog seem so shocked?
Was it because he had walked up to him so suddenly?
... or maybe he was just jumpy. With everything that happened these days, one could never be too careful anymore...
"Yeah, it's me!" he said cheerfully. It was nice to know Frog was fine and doing well.

Frog put a finger on his chin. Better to just deal with it, really. He was probably just being on edge since everything that's happened. "Yeah, sure, sorry for acting all shocked and stuff." He added, grinning. Now that the initial shock had passed, he could talk to the guy properly.

But really, he should work on his jumpiness. Else people were gonna get suspicious as all hell.

"So then, you've been on a walk or something? Pretty far from home, eh?" Frog continued trailing the conversation. "My house is like, right over here somewhere. I can get ya something to drink if ya want."

The invitation to get something to drink was tempting though.
"Sorry. But I gotta get home. Dinner tonight is supposed to be good." he said to Frog.

Was Frog supposed to know where Takeru lived? Wha-? He was either seriously forgetting about their previous conversations or something's just wrong with the way his mind processed information. Either way, the boy seemed to reject his offer to come to his house for a drink. In a way, this was good, because those words flew out of his mouth before he could stop them, but on the other hand, he still wanted to do it. Damned be social needs.

Frog nodded consentfully. The way Takeru formulated his sentences still felt kinda off and forced, whatever that was about. Probably some crazy shit he just forgot the way the kid acted the last time they met and he was getting worked up over nothing.

"Hmmmm, so don't wanna come see my dawg and have some super ultra fun over a glass of something like, mmmmm apple juice? Orange juice? Whatever-juice-you-like-that-I-might-have-at-my-place juice~?" He poked around with a grin and a metaphorical stick. "Come on, we're both human, amirite~?"

Although he really would have to pass on the juice, sadly.
"True. But again, dinner's waiting for me at home. Don't want to spoil my appetite... besides, my folks will kill me if I show up too late..." he said, gently rejecting Frog's offer.

"Keke..." Frog chuckled awkwardly, gesturing as if he was talking to someone over his shoulder as a bit of a display of friendly humor. He didn't mean to piss Takeru off, though, so if something like that happened, he wouldn't be happy nor pleased. "Shure shure...." He had to choose his words carefully though. If he let his tongue slip before his mind, then he'd prolly find himself into some trouble with touchy people. "Passion too. Like you're passionate about Doctor Who. And Legos, wooo. Look, it all rhymes. Really though, did ya do much today? We've already established you were kinda bushed..."

Regarding the boy's rejection, Frog shrugged. "Suit yourself." He'd forgotten that being a kid meant having curfew and all that sheit. Not like his parents cared much though. He could always stay out late. Prolly to encourage him actually hanging out with people. However, he never did stay out late. Or go out at all. Sad.

"Well then. I suppose I should be heading home now. I'll try come around some other time though, if I can. Bye." he said, sighing as he waved goodbye to Frog cheerfully unless the boy stopped him.

Eeep. So the kid's reaction to the joke was unfavourable indeed. It kinda pissed Frog how some people could be touchy. But then again, he himself could be touchy often. He tilted his head to the side listening to Takeru's plea for action. He could understand that, unlike the sighing response to his joke.

The real low-blow came when Takeru tried to just bolt away without much of anything akin to a proper goodbye. Frog wouldn't stand for that and he coughed loudly to get the boy's attention once again, back straight and an arm behind it.

"Where do you think you're going, mister?" He asked, adding a 'hmmmmmmmmmmmmm' at the end to mark it as a totally obvious question. "Y'know, I dunno what you think of me or if you're annoyed by me, but I kinda like having you around, so just wait a bit and stay, ok?"

The annoyed cough made him sigh, as it reminded him of his own parents when they needed to tell him something.
"Frog. I'm going home." Takeru said with a sigh.
Then he sighed mentally after what came next.
So Frog liked having him around, then?
Well. Then he would try to be a bit more pleasant.
He had to practice what he preached, after all.

"I'm glad you like having me around, but I should be going home. Otherwise i'm going to home to a cold dinner... and i'd hate that, wouldn't you? No one likes cold meat loaf, for example, do they? It's good stuff, the food my grandma makes..." Takeru said, in a much lighter tone.

Frog smiled at Takeru's sudden change. He also blushed slightly, since he was expecting the kid to just laugh in his face or something for acting so damn sentimental. "Well I'm not bothered by my food whether it be unsalty or tasteless or cold. Hehe~" He grinned. "But of course, you can go, I'm not gonna keep ya if you really wanna go home and have dinner. And grandmas tend to go a mile when making stuff for their grandkids, so I bet it'll be a feast." He stepped back, crossing his hands, still smiling, looking at Takeru.

"It was nice seeing ya here. I hope I'll be able to see you at the Academy. Well, smell ya later, or something." He'd nod and start waving at the other. If Takeru wanted to go, he could go. Frog wouldn't stop him. Maybe he stopped him now because he wanted to get this off his chest or something. But now he was satisfied.

Some people, he decided, were weird.
At least now he understood.
Frog seemed to let him go.
"Alright. Goodbye then, Frog." Takeru said as he walked off.
Time to go home.
