An Artists Work Empty
PostSubject: An Artists Work   An Artists Work EmptySat Mar 18, 2017 3:37 pm

Gabe was sitting at the corner of vista square, seemingly waiting for someone. Truth be told, he wanted to have a new and exciting paint job in order to bring in more customers to his establishment. His scrolls entertainment had a plain insignia, something basic. However, he really wanted to connect with the fans of avid books and anime, he wanted them to know that he was hip and cool too.

"God, am I getting old? I sound like my father..." He missed his parents. He hoped he would at least find their bodies, but nothing turned up yet. "...."checking his watch, the "artist" should be arriving any minute now.

// A buisness deal, huh? // Ryan thought to himself as he looked out over the city from the view of his apartment. // This Gabriel has done his research... But why me of all people? Because I'm "cheap" labor? Tch, figures. Well, what does that really matter? I get to do what I like, and getting paid for it ain't half bad. Sure, it won't cover everything, so I still need to work as a bartender, but still... It's a nice change of pace. // Maybe, just maybe, things were looking up for once. The former artist locked the door after leaving his aparment, the locking mechanism giving off a satisfying *click* as he turned the key. Now, to meet this Gabriel... He walked down the stairs of the apartment complex lazily as he fixed his white beanie. That should look at least somewhat presentable. Leaving the complex, the man turned his steps towards the main plaza of Vista Square, where the two would be meeting up. "Oi, dude. You Gabriel?"

"Yes... that would be me. Mr Ryan?" Gabe stood up and held out his hand for a formal handshake. Whether the man would accept it or not, Gabe would take a seat afterward. " I am the store owner of HitScrollsEntertainent, and i heard quite a bit about your work. Very impressive if i must say. " Gabe would say as he sat back and pushed up his glasses. "Question Mr. Ryan, i don't necessarily know much about yourself besides your expertise. Could you tell me a little about yourself? I mean, if it's not too invasive. Consider this to be a ... "mock interview" if you will. " Gabe would have hoped that the man would say something abut himself.

PostSubject: Re: An Artists Work   An Artists Work EmptySat Mar 18, 2017 4:43 pm

"Hm? Yeah, that's me. Pleasure, man." Ryan replied with a faint smile as he shook Gabriel's hand firmly. He seemed to be pretty alright. When told about his work, Ryan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh yeah? I guess that must be some of my college work before shit hit the fan. I'm not doing much drawing nowadays though. But that doesn't mean the deal's off or anything. As for myself, it depends on what you want to know. I used to be a college student in a neighbouring city way back when, like what, five years ago now, I think? Anyway, I was forced to drop off due to certain circumstances... Since then, I've basically just been doing work as a bartender, and started up my own joint after a while. It's nothing big, mind you, as it's just a shitty pub like most others in Endymion, but the customers are loyal. Can't complain much. Dunno why they keep coming back though... As I said, the place, while decently cosy, isn't anything to really write home about. Aaaand that pretty much sums it up. I could go into deeper detail, but my highschool years are barely of any interest here, I can assure you that." Ryan replied with a light shrug. "Now then, what exactly do you need my skills for?"

"Well, like i said before about owning a shop, i need a new paint job. Now, i'm not looking for something too simple, or else i would of hired just anyone to do the job. What i want..is something exceptional, which is what i was in search of an exceptional person. Someone like you..Mr. Ryan." Gabe would say as he brought out sample covers of his three books. The first was one punch frost, the second was the Love game. The third one was the theory of everything.

"I would want a blend of these aspects oat the store, of course, promoting my work. It's a way of advertising the specials of the house, as well as showing a bit of an interesting graphic to appeal to those who love manga in general. Honestly, i would like to believe that art is a way of capturing an essence....and using it to connect it with others. " Gabe would then give the man some time to look at the book covers. "I know this seems like a hard job.."

"Hrm... Sure. That seems doable." Ryan replied, scratching his chin lightly. "It shouldn't be very hard at all, so long as I can get some sort of guidelines of what exactly it is that you want. Pictures, descriptions, anything. I'll come up with a good design faster that way." If he had something to work off of, then it'd be both easier and faster for him. "How'd you like it? Classic paint or spraypainted?"

"How do I want it huh? Well...... this is a job, but I would want to make it a more comfortable experience for the artist as well.." Gabe would say as he mulled it over with a very brief humming sound. " Alright, i'll leave the methods to your discretion. However, if you insist on hearing a verbal direction by me. I'll allow you to spray paint, but the quality has to be so good that the average person would assume that it was painted by hand. Indistinguishable quality......" Gabe would say with a sly smile, actually wondering if that could be done?

I mean, consider it a chance to get back into the fray to sharpen your skills and methods once more. If I want your best work, I shouldn't hinder you too much, right?"

PostSubject: Re: An Artists Work   An Artists Work EmptyThu Mar 23, 2017 10:52 am

Ryan shook his head. "No need to worry. I can work with standard paint, no problem." Sure, it had been a while since he last used a paintbrush, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue. "As for the quality, no need to worry. It'll look good, that I can garantuee you. Now, then... You said you had a motif in mind? Some character or something along those lines? Like a mascot? If you have any referential pictures, I'd like to have some, just so I have something to work off of, y'know?" That would surely not be a problem at all for Gabriel, right? He should've come prepared for this.

"Yeah, I don't get many chances to make use of my talents, so I'll gladly take what I can get. Now... I'd wager this would cost about... somewhere between 700 and 2000 dollars, depending on how big the area I need to paint is going to be. Paint isn't free, you know, and my assistance will cost you some as well." Yeah, paint was expensive. Especially for housefronts and such, and Ryan didn't exactly have that kind of cash on him at the moment. Unlike traditional canvas paint, this was made to last, regardless of weather and other stuff, so naturally, the cost rose with it's durability. "Thanks for this opportunity, by the way. This is something I can work on the side during the day."

PostSubject: Re: An Artists Work   An Artists Work EmptyFri Mar 24, 2017 1:07 am

"Wow, this might cost me a bit of money....." Gabe would say to himself in his head as he thought about the role of being an employer for a job Not only does he have to buy the supplies, he has to add on to the actual pay of the man as well. "alright, i'm expecting quite a bang up job then...." Reaching into his bag, Gabe would take out a small scribble of one punch front in some sort of action scene. He was apparently looking way less serious than the opponent he was fighting, and the connection of contact had several hints that opponent being blown away to bits in a few seconds.

"Will this be fine? I drew it myself..."
Gabe would say as he Gabe the man the sketch to look at. "Oh, you are quite welcome. However, as i said, this comes with the territory of expectations.

"Yeah, paint ain't cheap." Ryan replied, scratching the back of his head abscentmindedly. And that's something he of course had expected. The man was paying him, after all, so why slack off? He should be doing his best. Ryan chuckled at Gabe's slight worries over the quality. "Haha, I'll deliver, don't worry, man." He curiously observed as Gabriel started sketching on a piece of paper. "Hm? Oh yeah, this is definitely doable, no problem." A faint smirk made it's way across his lips as he looked at the sketch the man had given him. "Not sure how long it'll take, but I can safely say it'll take no more than three weeks do get finished... most likely less than that."

"Alright, i'll keep the store closed for about three weeks........." Gabe would say in an gratifying tone." I dont think i was quite clear as to how much i was betting on you. Painting you isn't the problem my friend, i'll have your first half transferred to you once you supply me with your bank routing number. After that, i ill call to confirm if you have received. If you prefer cash, that will be acceptable as well. I am not aware if your rates, but assuming that the paint itself will cost no more than 1 grand.... it's would be about..... two grand for the job? But, there is risk. "

Gabe would say with a smile. It's not my only revenue, but i would have to hope that the traffic would pick up again. Even if they shop online, there is no guarantee they would choose me over amazon prime or Barnes and nobles. No pressure though..."

"Well, we'll see if that bet payed off soon enough, won't we, Gabriel?" Ryan replied with a light chuckle. "I wouldn't worry though. I'll get this done, no matter what. Even if hell breaks loose around me, I'll still make sure that this job gets finished on time. You have my word." The man said genuinely with a reassuring smile. He was determined to get this job done, damn it. Plus, there was money for him in the end of it all. What better carrot was there? "Hm? A grand? Sure. I'll take it. And don't worry. I'm sure they will come pouring in. At least, in Endymion, that is. Can't speak for the international buyers though. Amazon are tough competitiors, but If you play your cards right, I'm sure you can do well, Mr. Gabriel. It's all about finding a niche to use or exploit, isn't it? Oh, yeah, you have some sort of launch party planned or something? In case you didn't know, I work as a bartender as well. Being an artist isn't enough to pay rent, so I had to do something else to keep my lifestyle sustained. But yeah, if you need someone who can mix drinks or anything like that, Just give me a call. I'll gladly show up." Ryan replied with a wink. This guy was alright. A good fellow with a mind for buissness.

"Of course, we could always use like minded individuals with quite bit of faith in the skills at lucky clover. There is a charity event going on pretty soon at the casino, and i was thinking of new and inviting ways to showcase the natives with exceptional talent that Endymion City has to offer. Tell me Mr. Ryan, would you like to bartender for the night? The tips will greatly exceed your pay for the night if money is your main motivator. However..." Gabe would say as he hummed for a moment." I would need something from you in return to truly test your mind of mixology..a signature dink that as never been heard from you, originated from you..for the night. Is that a fair exchange?

Ryan raised an eyebrow at the offer of being a bartender at the event. "Hm? Oh, sure. If I find the time, that is. I may invite some of my own regulars to the place as well, if you don't mind? I don't wanna dissapoint them, y'know?" Besides, he knew that a fair bunch of his customers would come with, no problem. "Sure thing. I can probably come up with something." A signature drink, eh? This would need a bit of work. But already,
he had a few ideas in mind... "Now then, this paint job won't start itself. I better get going with buying the supplies I need. Oh, and before I go. What's the address? I'll get to work as soon as I can."

"Right.... the address..." Gabe then gave his address for the shop, it was located somewhere in the emporium stretch. After that was done, Gabe would start to get up. "Well then, i guess i'd better get going. Make sure you provide me with the proper routing number for your account information. And remember, you will receive the other half once you completed the job.
