Last Night was Wicked! [Gabe]

"Huh? I've lived in Endymion but I've never been here before. I wonder why? Maybe work? Maybe cause I'm a lonely otaku with no life? I wonder!" Jack played with a strand of his hair as he wait outside the cafe itself. He was supposed to be meeting with a fellow Psyche Terrorist, and one of the few who knew he was actually Xombie. Jack didn't particularly trust any of the others, nor did he particularly like them either. It was more so just to get the job done that he "worked" with them, to some degree. Though, to be honest he was more so worried about getting close to any of them and having his abilities be a bane in their side like so many times before. He did almost die last night, and apparently he wasn't the only one who was close to losing their life. Jack still wasn't sure if that was Raffles fault or if perhaps they were doomed before they even started. But at the same time, maybe Raffles was the good luck charm that helped them survive? Dealing with luck was a crazy thing. On one hand you could say things were good luck if it works out in your favor. The other hand, if anything goes wrong it can be blamed on bad luck aswell.

Did Karma come into the equation at anytime during that? Jack continued to ponder to himself about his own abilities while waiting for his contact. Gabe wasn't one to be late, so he knew he wouldn't have to wait too long. Infact, he was surprised to show up before Gabe to begin with, knowing how he could be rather lax about things that wasn't work related. Speaking of work, he was lucky to get off this morning. He had a meeting with an idol in regards to her next concert but apparently she was spooked from some recent news. Something about idols being killed by demons? This city really never got a break, did it?

This was actually one of the more surprising days that Gabe experienced since his time of being among the ranks of the terrorists. Some of them proved to be quite difficult, others seemed to have their own kind of unique personality to them. Jack was around the same age, but he didn’t look it. It was more of a fountain of youth stitched in with a few threads of some kind. In a way, it could represent a lot, a man that is always reinforcing himself to keep himself together. As a matter of fact, Gabe was fond of Jack, they worked well together enough and didn’t get under each others skin, so he found it useful to meet up with him today. “I wonder if there is something wrong?”

Gabe would say to himself as he arrived at the cipher café. He knew of the idols being killed, and he wondered if anyone he knew would be in danger as well. “Jack..” Gabe would say casually as he spotted the man, taking a seat near him. “ This is definitely a surprise, a pleasant one nevertheless. What’s on your mind?

"Heyoo Gabe, long time no seee. How ya been?" The spontaneous luck eater waved a hand towards Gabe as he appeared on the scene. There was a wide smile on his face as he lifted his finger and pointed towards the entrance to the building. "Screw sitting outside. I'm a hermit, I have to have walls enclosing around me to feel comfy." Jack spoke half jokingly and half serious to a certain degree. As he reached for the door, it opened itself as someone was leaving, and he slipped pass them to head inside. The place itself wasn't too big, but wasn't that small either. Computers, tables, and a lounge to relax in. Hell, it was pretty homey in terms of what Jack's apartment looked like. He honestly could barely keep it clean. There were so many things tossed about such as clothes, games, books, and weeb crap that it'd make your average woman kick right into her maternal instinct.

Jack made his way to the counter where one could order what they'd be having for their stay. He tapped his chin with a single finger, not entirely sure if he wanted to splurge or get something small. Maybe it'd be better to let Gabe go first and follow his lead. After all, Jack wasn't one to make most of the brunt decisions himself; he didn't mind following behind others sometimes. That was made well apparent the previous two nights where he opted to follow the group, even if it meant into almost dying. That was something he was going to have to work on. Not all people were worth following, he needed to branch out alittle on his own every now and again. Or he'd just be another number in a body count.

Turning back to look at Gabe, the Luck Eater would cross his arms and tilt his head. "You first.. Also not much is on my mind. I'm off work today cause some crazy incidents going on with the Idols in Suzie Q. I figured I'd try something new and go out for once. Not a big fan of it so far."

"Busy, ive been busy. Not much of a rough night, i haven't done much of anything. However, i could say that you experienced quite the workout. Good job by the way, you cant imagine how it feels to be a dead stick, even if i seem a bit disinterested. " A little bit of praise didn't hurt anyone, it was true that Jack was much more useful last night than Gabe was. "Right.." Gabe would lead the way with a simple nod, not necessarily commenting on the Susie Q incident as of yet. Once he got inside of the cafe, Gabe took the seat in the back, urging Jack to follow. Once he took his seat, Gabe would wait untill Jack sat as well before he started talking again.

"I heard of that on the news, i kind of wander whats going on? I heard of people missing, not being left half eaten.

Jack followed Gabe towards the back while pondering to himself. What did Gabe mean good job? Good job almost getting killed, maybe? Though thinking about it, Gabe was right. He didn't get to have as much action last night as the rest of the group. Jack had offered to sit things out but apparently they needed him for that fight against the angels. He'd be sure the following night Gabe would get his time to shine. "Thanks but I'm more trouble than any help. I still don't have quite the hang of my.. talents." He was sure to be vague just to avoid raising any flags with the people around them. After all, those with Personas who weren't with the Government were seen as a taboo. Automatically written off as criminals with no trial. Atleast no trial he heard of. But the people didn't care. After all, the Eternal Divide was caused by the first Psyche Terrorist and it through the world into chaos. After meeting that woman herself, Jack understood that sometimes you needed abit of order to deal with the chaos that fought against it. Jack had no idea Gabe had met the same woman as him those many years ago, but perhaps it was his own luck they did meet. Or maybe Gabe's bad luck they meant. That was to be decided as time went on.

Taking a seat across from Gabe, the dark haired young man folded his arms behind his head. He leaned back in his seat as his dark eyes scanned the ceiling while his partner in crime spoke. "As the new would put it, the demons are at it again. No reason not to believe that right? After all, we've seen our fair share of them these past few days. Both the good and the bad." He leaned forward, placing a hand against the table. "Though, I don't know what to believe these days. Things haven't been as black and white as before. There's alot going on in this city, and for some reason its taken till now for me to notice any of it."

"Ahh, if only you could see mine. " Sure, it was more practical, but having access to it can definitely give birth to those "force of habit" reactions that Gabe tries to avoid. Like for instance, when Selenus attacked him. Gabe had to push the thought out of his mind ten times over before going over another course of action. "Well, just like human beings, they also tend to have some sort of agenda. Nowadays, i'm willing to believe in any sort of conspiracy theory if they have a reliable base of information. Though, it doesn't hurt to check it out yourself if you have the time. Me personally, I like to be practical. "

Hearing Jack's qualms about not noticing what happened in the city also upset Gabe. " I don't know how or why, but we were all blind to it. Now, it's like, i can't unsee anything. It's hard to turn back once you made it this far. If there is any regrets about it, it's that seeing still doesn't change anything for you, that would be unfortunate, right?

"Practicality was never my thing." Jack responded as he leaned forward in his seat and propped his head upon the palm of his hand. Honestly it wasn't, even though he did his job so efficiently during the day. When it came to that aspect, Gabe and him were complete opposites yet the two of them still got along just fine. Though the start of their relationship was pretty rock, Jack had grown to like him to a certain degree. Though the young man was hesitant on calling Gabe a friend, simply because his history with what happened to those who were friends, but he would say he was a pleasant acquaintance. When the conversation shifted to the truth of the city, Jack would close his eyes and blow out a gasp of air. I mean, it was sort of strange how he didn't notice how much influence the Government had on everyone's actions. And now to find out Angels were also involved in enforcing the law behind the scenes, what the hell was going on with the Queen? Did she own them? Were they her personal force, save for the cadets?

"Gabe, do you believe in God?" Jack would suddenly ask as he looked up to his fellow Man. After last night with the inclusion of Angels to Demons, then perhaps there was a God and a Devil. How the Angel they killed spoke of the Queen, it was as if she may have been their God. She was already worshiped as the Goddess of Endymion after she pulled the city back from the brink of destruction. Though now, Jack questioned everything. Was that the truth of the matter? Did she have ties to the woman who caused it all? No matter, Jack knew there were people much worse than demons out there. The Queen was perhaps a necessary force to deal with those monsters... Though technically, was he any different than the Green haired vixen that caused the eternal divide?

"Well, besides being practical, it's also important to addlib. When things don't go your way, it's best to improvise, you know? I think that's where one of your many talents is, well, based off of observation. " Gabe was good at that too, but he never really had a chance to show that off much. Being good at cards tricks also included playing a game with cards. However, that was something for another time.

"God?" Gabe was a bit shocked by the question. Was there a god? If there are angels and demons, there had to be a god somewhere. "Officially, i am catholic.........through my mother......" That was a bit of disclosure that Gabe shared with jack. Unofficially, i believe that there is a higher power, a force beyond comprehension that we can't hope to understand. Even in our current condition, we hardly scratched the tip of the ice berg. I think the question after is... is there more than one? That, i hope i never find out. " Gabe then asked Jack the same. "What about you?"

"Ad lib huh? I never thought of it that way." Jack would knead a strand of his dark hair between his fingers. He never thought his condition of having a fleeting interest was something that could be written off as ad lib. Maybe Gabe was just trying to say something to make him feel abit more secure about his spontaneous behavior? Regardless, he laughed to himself and leaned into his hand. When the conversation switched over to religion, his expression turned into dead pan. Man he wasn't the one to talk religion at all, but I guess when you spoke of Angels and Demons it came to it. What a pain in the ass! Jack wasn't the one who believed in anything except his own bad luck. Or perhaps it was good luck? Bad luck for others, that could be sure. But the thought of more than one God? He couldn't even handle the worship of one. "More than one God... I wouldn't say that too loudly considering how many people worship the Queen. She, by definition to them, is the one true Goddess of this world. I guess it makes sense though.. It's amazing how someone can come in and just snap her fingers to make everything right again. Maybe she really is an Angel or Goddess like they say."

Jack leaned in and whispered so only Gabe could hear his following words. "What do you think we should do with these powers? This city is corrupt, so are we like some sort of freedom fighters? Do you think the people really want to think for themselves? Some would say it's a freedom to not have to think at all, and to let someone else control your lives. At first I thought this power would just be for fun, but now I can totally see something's not right with this city. I'm kinda interested to see what the hell is going on, know what I mean?"

"Not necessarily, whether they are listening or not, multiple religions give birth to multiple gods. Either that, or they are all the same, but interpreted differently through cultures. If there is any crime being committed, it's the constitutional right possibly being affected by this through the reason of not even being able to talk about these things, freedom of religion. " Gabe would say as he slightly massaged his temples. " I want to believe that we still maintained a resemblance of what life actually was, before all of these hardships. Wasn't the best, I was borderline a cripple through health complications. But still, every made sense. "

It was quite a stretch to say that Gabe was protruding a semblance of frustration towards how he felt like he lost touch with reality. Demons weren't a one time deal, they were here to stay and continue to fuck with everyone's lives. Though, his train of thought was halted once Jack whispered to him. Whispering back, Gabe would give his thoughts. "Never thought of it, I was planning on going along for the ride. Stick together and see what happens. If there is anything foul about what the government is doing, I'd rather expose it and have the fallout collapse on itself. It's a preference, but not not a direction. Long term, i don't understand my purpose in all of this. Or what i think the right thing is, or if... it is even my responsibility in the first place. "

"Well, depending on who you ask they'd say the Queen is the only religious figure to follow. There's not much worship of anything else in Endymion, and personally I don't really think it'd be allowed. No one has any reason to worship anything else when the Queen was the one who personally delivered them from evil. Atleast, that's what we all believe." Jack tapped his finger upon the face of the table. Not much was on his mind when it came to religion, considering he didn't believe in anything. Though perhaps it was arrogance now that he had seen demons and angels himself, with his own naked eyes. Yet still, he didn't want to believe that higher powers guided humanity. That was the easy way out. The easy way to explain the horrible acts humans did, or the inconsistencies in life. If something went well they said it was "God". If it went to hell, well they cursed the "Devil". God was even given the credit for random acts of luck through the day. So should Jack be thanking God for his own luck? Pfft, that thought made him laugh beneath his breath.

Jack scoffed at wanting to expose it all to the open. "We can expose everything to the open, but it means nothing if the people are brainwashed. They'd still blindly follow their leader as if nothing happened. Next thing you'll know she'll want to build a wall and make the outsiders pay for it at this rate." The Man of Fortune leaned upon his propped up hand and closed his eyes with a sigh. "...We're automatically criminals without doing any real crimes. Anyone with the powers we have are locked away and never heard from again. Why do you think she fears Persona Users so much? Because they're probably the only ones who are immune to her subtle brainwash. The only ones who can pull her from that throne she loves so much. Makes me wonder if her children are just as stuck up as her. I've seen the Prince on television a few times... He looks like a prick to me."

You have a point there, but to be honest with you, I haven't even thought of it that way. Well, who knows? Maybe we would be in for a surprise down the line in this crazy town huh?" Of course, Gabe said this jokingly. However, Pagan gods did exist, as well as the people who worshiped them. Gabe wouldn't be surprised at the fact that there were people underground who bowed their heads to a demon in secret in exchange for other gifts and benefits.

"Even if the secrets are exposed and no one cares, perhaps that isn't enough. Maybe if the problem was out of the picture entirely, people start opening their hearts to the truth and whatnot? It's possible, but a new leader that believes in doing things the right way could work. But does something like that even exist in this day and age?"

Gabe continued to listen to Jack a bit, stifling his laughter about the prince. "Well, he's got good looks, no doubt he's popular with the ladies no? Though, it's a mystery to me, the class zero. It makes me wonder what they have to go through in order to be one. "

"They probably have to lick the Queen's heels.. which, I wouldn't be too against myself." Sir Fortune gave a sneer as he leaned into his propped up hand. It had been some time since the Queen made an appearance in public but he still remembered how much of a fox she was. That woman was something else, which made him wonder why there was no King. Well whatever, the young man looked at his phone for the time. "Class Zero... The Cadets, right? I wonder if they're even worth looking into. They're basically bonafide go-fers for the Royal Siblings. Oh, only difference is they're praised for it. In my eyes they're no different than us, save for not having masks. Also being government lap dogs is a thing." Jack chuckled at the last words as he stood from his seat.

"Break time's over, Gabe. See you tonight. I'll tell you one thing... I wouldn't be too trusting with those we just met. Something about this little group rubs me the wrong way. But maybe that's just my 'other self' telling me to be a prick." He stretched his arms as he made his way towards the exit. "Let the games begin I guess."

"I don't fancy myself to be much of a masochist, could never necessarily get into it. " Gabe shrugged, it simply wasn't his thing. If the queen was requesting unreasonable to Gabe's very character, he didn't know if he could go through with it. "Well, they go to the seven stars Academy, they still have to take a class. I don't think that they are that different from us if there are classes or extra activities that overlap with the cadets. Besides what makes them special, there's an assumption that they are still people too. If that's the case, each separate individual has something that they care about. "

Gabe listened to Jack about not being too trusting about the group. "Our well-being hangs in the balance as well. Let's just say that this performance tonight has a chance to win me over if executed correctly. Everything deserves a fair chance Jack, but i'm glad you'll be coming along. " Gabe would wave and not necessarily leave until 20 minutes later .
