Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] 09c4499ab894fe3e91a515800169f49c

Taking a walk outside was a good idea on Batilde's part tonight. School and homework was beginning to take their toll on the poor girl, and she needed a desperate break from it all. If only for a short hour or so. Normally, she was more estudious than this, but... right now, she needed to catch a break. And as such, she headed towards one of the least populated areas of Endymion in search for some peace and quiet. Sure, being home, inside was nice and all, but it didn't remove any stress, since everything in her room reminded her of school and the work that it demanded. Batilde needed to get away from all that for just a short while. So, that's why she headed to the ALPE Camping Grounds, bringing a flashlight and something to snack on while out (Some of her very own, home made pieces of bread, with slices of ham, cheese and cucumbers) to keep her tummy happy while on her little outing. Besides, it provided with a special sort of atmosphere you really didn't get anywhere else.

So, after packing her stuff, Batilde set off for the Camping site. Sure, being outside at this time of day was dangerous, but now she could at least defend herself, knowing that Astrape and the scythe was with her at all times. As she strolled through the area, Batilde hummed on some song that she had heard on the radio quite often lately. There was always this one song that the radio stations played to no end over a couple of months. She eventually found a dimly lit area by a couple of tree stumps, where she sat down, opened her bag, and took out her sandwiches. This was gonna be a good time to relax... Or at least, so she hoped.

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyTue Dec 06, 2016 7:38 pm

After his two peculiar encounters that night in the camping grounds, Selenus wondered if he would ever get to have the alone time he so desperately wanted out in these woods. Meeting up with one old acquaintance and one new acquaintance, while not usually something the robot wolf would complain about, was not what he had planned when he made this outing; as a matter of fact, it was begginning to become detrimental. Selenus needed to find any set of conditions in which he could comfortably relax, or he would definitely be driven mad. Selenus wandered around the woods in circles, eventually re-visiting the small lake where he'd met Ashure. He circled around the lake, taking in its natural beauty before he stepped on something squishy. It was a marshmellow, most likely left behind by Ashure when she was running away from wolves and whatnot. He wiped off the remnants of the sugary treat from his paw on the dirt below before proceeding with his walk, eventually deciding to sit down in front of the lake to better take in its beauty. The lake itself was quite vividly decorated with lily pads and fish, which only added to Selenus's awe.

Selenus took a glance at the water directly below his snout, and was surprised to see the reflection of not himself, but a human. It was a handsome male adult, possessing gloomy eyes and short black hair with white streaks. Every move Selenus made, the man in the lake imitated without fail. Was his mind playing tricks on him? Selenus reached out with his paw and touched the water that cast the unfamiliar reflection, sending tiny ripples throughout the lake. Once the ripples had gone from the spot that cast the reflection, the human was gone, and only Selenus remained. The robot wolf heard his alter ego exhale deeply from within the depths of his mind. It would appear that Fenrir was trying to cheer Selenus up through visual illusions. Needless to say, it only worked to further sadden Selenus.

The robot took his leave from the lake and continued to wander aimlessly around the camping grounds, one single thought resonating in his mind the whole time: "It's not fair."

Eventually, Selenus spotted somebody else in the distance. A young girl that appeared to be eating a few snacks, to be more precise. Selenus tried to change direction before she noticed him so that he could have his alone time, but in doing so he accidentally stepped on a branch, creating a very loud *CRUNCH*.

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyTue Dec 06, 2016 8:15 pm

The nightsky was absolutely breathtaking... the Moon was high up, halfway on it's rise to the peak, being a beautiful, blue-shaded cresent. The twinkle of the stars surrounding it only added to the serene beauty of the scene. And here, Batilde was, eating her slice of bread with a calm look on her face, truly at peace. As for what she was wearing... A fluffy, dark-blue jacket, accompanied by a pair of tight jeans and a pair of jogging sneakers which were easy to take on and off. It wasn't super cold, but it was cold enough for Batilde to wear something warmer and thicker than her usual get-up, which was quite welcome at times. Sure, it didn't really show her off at her absolute best, but she didn't... really care. No one was supposed to see her out here anyway.

Keyword being supposed to.

"!?" Batilde's eyes darted immediately towards the sudden noise from the cracked twig, only to see a... very bizzare sight. A long, slender, metallic tail, razor sharp claws looking more like blades and armored in a heavy duty metal plating, the robotic canine had seemingly frozen in place as his paw snapped the poor, dry twig in half. Was it sentient? Could it talk? What even was this thing? A Demon, maybe? Astrape itched for combat within her, but the girl suppressed her persona's urges to lash out at the robotic wolf or dog (whatever it was) for startling both the girl and the persona itself. "H-Hi...." Batilde meekly said, still rattled by the sudden appearance of something that was completely alien to her. What was this?

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyTue Dec 06, 2016 8:33 pm

Selenus let out a heavy sigh inside of his mind. It seemed that he would have to deal with yet another person. Again, he hadn't minded, didn't mind and would never mind making new friends, for he was an incredibly lonely individual, but he just didn't want to let his emotions loose while anybody else was around. This was his burden to deal with and his burden alone, and he didn' want other people to worry about him. Regardless, he'd now startled the poor girl quite a bit, if her facial expressions were any indication, so he decided that he'd just tough the urge to sulk out and be as polite as possible to her. He owed her that much for startling her, he felt.

Selenus retook motion of his body once more, now that staying still served practically no purpose. He turned around to face the girl, who, upon closer inspection, seemed vaguely familiar, but Selenus had no concrete memory that he could pull up to recall her face from. He could have scanned the entirety of his memory drive, but that would've taken a long while and he would've been unable to say anything while he did so, leaving the girl without an answer. "...Hello..." He said in a tired, melancholic voice. Just because he wished to tough out the tiredness and sadness didn't mean that he could fully conceal either of them.

He gently approached the girl, making sure not to make any movements that were too fast, as she was sure to be cautious of him. He wouldn't blame her either, he knew he wasn't exactly the most friendly-looking thing to ever greet someone's eyes (Well, with the strange exception of children, but that's neither here nor there.).

"What are you doing out in these woods so late? Don't you know it's dangerous?"

PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyWed Dec 07, 2016 4:51 pm

Batilde calmed down a little bit after hearing the tired voice of the strange machine. Not only did it understand her, it also spoke. This thing just kept getting stranger and stranger by the minute. Why was a machine even sounding tired? Wasn't that the whole deal with machines? Them being able to work 24/7 without suffering from fatigue or sleep deprivation? Either way, the robot turned around to face her, being a couple of meters away, before asking it's question. Was this thing concerned? Had it been following her around all this time? Either way, she'd look at the canine with slight curiousity, while thinking of a decent way to formulate her answer.

"I'm just out for an evening stroll. And I'm more than capable of defending myself, thank you." She'd reply, with a light smile, thinking back on her powers. How useful they'd be against common thugs and other crimminals, she had no idea, but if more of those monsters showed up, she could at least defend herself somewhat, if the need arose. "What about you? What are you doing here so late?"

More than capable of defending herself? Now, Selenus was skeptical of this claim, but not for reasons one might expect. While, unfortunately, most in his situation would've underestimated her because of her gender and age, selenus was sceptical because no regular human could be "more than capable of defending themself" from wild animals and the myriad demons that were sure to roam the darkest place of Endymion at night. She had no weapon on her either, so Selenus could only conclude she was either bluffing or she had some ulterior form of self-defense. Yes, Selenus was thinking of that form of self-defense, but he wouldn't say it, because though he suspected it the chances were actually largely low, and if he asked and it turned out not to be that way, he could possibly get himself reported and rehabilitated. "Alright, if you say you are." Selenus wouldn't chase that topic further unless it was brought up again by the girl herself.

What was he doing here? "Just trying to get some peace and quiet, that's all..."

Batilde looked curiously at the robot dog. It was truly something out of this world. It was strange, really. She had seen robots before, but... that had only been the small Cozmo-bot, who was mainly used for playing with, and while it was intelligent, it never really asked any questions like this one did. It's design was robust, yet slightly elegant. It didn't seem to be very hostile. In fact, it's passiveness was... almost alarming. A robot dog looking for peace and quiet? Well, he certainly had come to the right place for that. "Some peace and quiet, eh? I can get behind that, I guess. I... came out here for that same reason. Well, probably not the exact same reason. Just looking for a bit of a break from schoolwork and whatnot. Been studying for hours on end with little to no pause." She replied with a light chuckle, taking another bite out of her snack. Ah, the brie-cheese sandwich. Couldn't beat those, now could you? After swallowing, she continued. "I'm Batilde, by the way. Batilde Gagnon." A light smile spread across the girl's lips. "What's your name?"

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyTue Jan 10, 2017 9:17 pm

Schoolwork? So she was indeed yet a student, like Selenus suspected. Ironically enough, most noteworthy people in the city of Endymion were teenagers or younger (excluding celebrities and the such). Not to say there weren't also noteworthy adults or non-humans, but you get the point. "Schoolwork, huh?" He chuckled "With all due respect, if that's all that's ailing you, I envy you." That came out sounding a little rude... not what he was intending at all.

"..." Selenus was hesitant to give Batilde his name in return to her own. He wanted to, oh how he wanted to... but he questioned whether or not it was a good idea. He had promised to himself that he'd stay out of the spotlight, but he found himself constantly meeting new people. It was almost instinctive too, he even went out of his way to meet new people when he had the choice not to because... the loneliness he felt... it was absolutely crushing. Yet at the same time, if Newman spent the rest of his life stuck in a cell just because Selenus couldn't just call up one of his already existing, trustworthy friends...

"...Selenus." He said, but his voice betrayed the enthusiasm of meeting somebody new. It wasn't unlike the tone of voice of someone letting out on a secret that they promised their best friend they would take to the grave, while said best friend waved cheerfully at them from across the room, completely oblivious to the betrayal. "That's my name."

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptySat Mar 25, 2017 12:23 pm

Well, there was of course more things bothering her, but... she couldn't really tell this random robo-dog that just right out of the blue... because honestly, who would believe her? Robot dogs was one thing, but Psychadelic ghosts with eletrical powers was a much harder thing to explain, not to mention almost impossible to make it sound convincing. "Haha, that's not all that's on my mind at the moment... There's a lot of expectations on me, and I'm not sure I can, or want to live up to them. I've been set on one path by the way I was raised, and yet... I feel wrong treading down that path somehow. And then there's the whole teenage-years thing which brings it's own slew of problems." Good way to avoid the things that REALLY bothered her right now. Besides, the latter part was still sort of a thing... Pressure from her parents to find a "mate" as her dad so graciously called it. Pshyeah, right. "Mate." There was really only one she had her eyes on, and... well, even then, she was iffy about it. She hadn't seen Miyuki in what felt like forever, and now she didn't know what to think. That girl brought out feelings she didn't even know she had or was even capable of having, but she did. And for that reason, Miyuki had been precious. "Well... there is one thing. Just a friend of mine I haven't seen in a while... I kinda miss her... a lot, actually." A light blush crossed her cheeks for the briefest of moments when she thought of Miyuki.

"Selenus, eh...?" What a strange name it was... then again, that same thing could be said about the Name's owner, which was a robotic canine. "Hrm... I like it. Pleasure to make your aquaintence, Selenus." She'd greet him with a bright smile, and moved over a little bit on the bench so he had a place to sit next to her, if he wanted to. "Sure, it's a little bit odd, but it has this nice ring to it."

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyThu Mar 30, 2017 4:43 pm

Now, Selenus wasn’t complaining, but it did feel weird that this Batilde was so open to the idea of something like him. Yes, of course everyone who he is now friends with had met him at some point and clearly been able to accept the idea of him, otherwise hey wouldn’t be friends, but… they all had shown at least some degree of confusion or unfamiliarity. While Batilde had shown surprise (expected, of course, since Selenus had startled her) she seemed to be accepting the concept of his existence much faster than most. He supposed she was simply accustomed to utilizing suspension of disbelief; things hadn’t exactly been what people would call boring daily life for the past five or so years to begin with. Her smile showed this fact.

With nothing much better to do and not wanting to refuse a friendly invitation, Selenus hopped on the bench and sat next to Batilde. He noticed the light layer of fluster Batiled had begun displaying when the subject of a friend of hers whom she misses came up, which led Selenus to believe that this “friend” carried romantic or at least sexual connotations. “Hm? What was her name? Maybe I know her.” Selenus joked and chuckled; he doubted he actually knew who she was referring to, but it was a nice conversation starter.

Batilde looked at Selenus with a nervous smile when he asked her about Miyuki's name... Should she really tell him? Was there any harm to it at all? She thought a bit about it, the light blush ever present on the girl's face as the face of her friend wandered into her thoughts. Their time together at the Cinema the other day had been something special. Sure, the movie itself wasn't all that great, in fact it was actually really terrible, but that wasn't the important bit. What was important however was the time they both had spent together. They had even held hands, even if it was unintentional, it had still been a magical experience, in it's own little way.

"Her name? Uhm... She's called Miyuki... Miyuki Walker." Batilde replied nervously, pushing her index-fingers together in a slightly awkward manner, looking away from Selenus, as to hide the blush, but to no avail. "W-We're just friends." She haphazardly added, almost in a panicked manner. Her blue eyes stared off into the forest, avoiding the red glow of Selenus' eyes... or at least, what she assumed to be his eyes. You never knew with a robot. "..."

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyMon Apr 03, 2017 11:48 am

To be completely frank, the shyness displayed by the girl before him was somewhat endearing. Though he couldn’t relate to being in love quite yet or even to feeling physical attraction for others, he could certainly understand and comprehend the idea of wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone else. As far as he understood, the complimentary addition of sexual desire to existing sentimental desire was really the only thing that differentiated romantic love from the kind of love he felt for Trinity or Douglas. Selenus would simply stare in amusement until Batilde spoke the name of the girl in question. It was at that point that Selenus’s stare turned from one of amusement and whimsy to one of deep concern.

“Miyuki? Miyuki Walker?” The girl who he’d met on the riverbed? They’d only met twice, but in those two brief interactions Selenus could’ve sworn that they were parallels of each other. They were cut from the same cloth, positioned at the same point in space and time to witness the same life-changing event, and grew to be variants of the same lamenting person. This all made Selenus feel of Miyuki as a kindred spirit, and one to be protected at all costs. Despite this, after his run-in with her in the alleyways, he hadn’t seen her again or been able to contact her. “Y-you said you hadn’t seen her in a while, right? That you missed her?” Selenus asked frantically, desperate for answers. “Do you know what happened to her? Is she alright?” Selenus couldn’t just ignore the fact that after he’d decided to reveal himself as a terrorist to the girl, she’d suddenly gone missing. There was one logical conclusion that he could draw from all this, but his mind refused to accept it. The moment the idea surfaced, it was just as quickly deleted by its conceptor.

Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyMon Apr 03, 2017 6:20 pm

"Y-Yes... Why? You know her...?" Batilde asked, looking at the robot dog with a rather suprized expression donned on her face. This was rather sudden... So he knew her... and Batilde highly doubted there was more than one Miyuki Walker in Endymion, so they had to be talking about the same person here. Because how big were the chances that there would be someone else with such an unusual combination of first and last names? Close to 0. So she could say with confidence that they were talking about the same girl here... but just to be sure... "Just so we're on the same page here... she's kind of a mischevious girl with short brown hair, yes? I just wanna be sure we're talking about the same person... even though, the chances of that being the case already is pretty high..."

When he asked more about if Batilde had seen her or not, her expression went from suprised to borderline depressed in a split second. "N-No... I haven't seen her in a few days, actually... Last time I saw her was at the Cinema... After that, I never saw her again..." She missed her quite a bit... almost to the point where it almost hurt, in a way. Miyuki had evoked emotions and feelings inside Batilde that she had never experienced before... When Miyuki was around, Batilde felt more confident, happy and generally just a better person overall, and she felt like she could've thrown away any doubt or worries. As for why she felt this way around the teen was a bit rougher to explain... "I don't know what happened to her... I've tried calling her several times since then, and yet... no answer. All I get is voicemail..."

NononononononononononononononononnononononononononononononoNOOOOOO! So she really was missing?! God fucking dammit, this was all his fault wasn’t it? This was all because he revealed himself as a psyche terrorist to her so soon! For fuck’s sake Selenus, what the hell were you thinking? You weren’t! You weren’t thinking, that’s what! What had they done to her?! Had the government caught wind of her and rehabilitated her? Did they torture her for information? Did she talk?! Maybe they didn’t even need to get her to talk; maybe the government could just pull out her memories the same way they hand out personas to their cadets. Damn it all!!!

Selenus rebooted his emotion drive, causing him to be forced into an efficient (alebit temporary) state of calm, hopefully enough for him to reason with himself. He hadn’t noticed how he’d been basically frantically fumbling in place as he panicked internally. He was overreact; it was likely that maybe she’d just been laying low for now due to the info she’d learned, or maybe she’d just had a common reason to stay inside and not answer the phone. Maybe she was sick and just didn’t WANT to answer the phone… that sounded like a Miyuki thing to do.

“I… apologize.”
Selenus would say, silently embarrassed. “I have a bad tendency to jump to the worst conclusions. Maybe she’s just staying home sick…” And now suddenly things were awkward… maybe he should continue the conversation so as to save face “S-So, how do you know Miyuki?”

PostSubject: Re: Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus]   Hours of the Night :: Nighttime [Selenus] EmptyMon May 01, 2017 12:23 pm

Batilde only watched as Selenus seemed to have some... issues. It was worrisome to see the robot just rumble around in place like he was going crazy. What did she do?! Did she break his programming? Did he crash? Her worries were somewhat eased however when the canine snapped out of his little fit. She'd look at him worriedly when he came back to his senses and asked him timidly: "A-Are you okay, Selenus?" She instinctively rested an arm on... his back, right above his front foot, as if she was resting her arm on someone's shoulder to give comfort. It was weird, but it felt like the right thing to do. "I-I see... Well, maybe so. Still, it's kinda odd that she hasn't even bothered texting me back. Maybe she's just that ill..." And now she had ANOTHER thing to worry about. Great. At least, maybe this was a good explanation at least for her not answering the phone.

"O-Oh, We met one day... funny story actually, at Maid in Heaven. You know the maid café in Suzie Q? Yeah, I talked to her there when I was looking for a part time job... So I learned that she goes to the school as well, so we just kinda... hung out after that. Not that interesting really. How do you know her?"
